The United Colonial Federation defense department announced today, that a new plan has been unveiled for the entire colonial fleet, the new plan involves reworking the current classes of ships with new ones, and placing new technologies on these ships, proto types of these vessels have already been completed along with plans for the replacement process that would take 10 years (NS Years)
New fleet battle carriers such as the Nimitz will be replacing current carriers

Battle ships such as the York town will be replacing current battle ships:

current drednoughts will be replaced by the dreadnought class:

The new fleet will be swift mobile and designed for combat, the size of he new fleet will hover around one thousand five hundred ships, and about three hundred and fifty to four hundred will be major capitol ships. Many next generation technologies will be used, such as neutron particle lasers, Gravimetric coil guns, Ripper cannons, advanced positron torpedo tubes, and multi dimensional shielding, as well as other classified technologies. The project will begin immediately the old fleet is going to be phased out.
Union Defense department officials have also expressed deep glee as to new funding and plans for the fleet, while the fleet will be small it will be more powerful than a fleet eight times its size or bigger, because of the investment and technology given in to it.
