OOC: This takes place after the events told here: The End of an Era (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=503877)
A week had passed since Carpathia Ziemowit had died, and the Republican Senate, and after five days of nearly non-stop meetings, hearings, and depositions, the Senate approved one of their own to determine how the Arch Arsonist of Mer des Ennuis would be chosen. The announcement of Senator Armstrong of Ville des Lumieres, a vocal critic of the militaristic history of Mer des Ennuis, was immediately followed by more calls for an end to martial law.

General of the Armies of Mer des Ennuis Kaspyr Wojtek sat in his spartan office in the main military complex of Mer de Noms, the Capital. He was reviewing the press brief put out by the senate.
“Bastards… how do they expect us to get anything done?” he thought before he heard a knock at the door.
“Come in!” he called.
General of the Home Guard Adam Wincenty entered with a small leather briefcase.
“Good afternoon General Wojtek.” He said with a salute, which was promptly returned. “I trust you have read the information on this Armstrong?”
“Yes, indeed I have. New guy, can’t fathom why the Senate would have chosen him.
He’s not even a member of the old guard. He’s pretty anti-military too.”
“Think the method he’ll pick will be fair and reasonable?”
“Perish the thought. The Homeguard will be hit the hardest, and you aren’t too popular with the Senate right now Adam. I msean hell, when they rebelled, the Homeguard had the most visible presence! The Lumierians have in the past five years given the most hell to their Homeguard divisions, and this is his best chance for brownie points.”
Gen. Wincenty suddenly perked up with a gleam in his eyes.
“Does MI have any information on Armstrong?”
“Yes, they certaintly do.”
“I wonder if the DGS has anything on him. I’ll have to contact Director Mikolás,” said Gen. Wincenty as he stood up. “We will be in touch.”

In his office across town, Director Ondrej Mikolás was going over a myriad of profiles of potential suspects and politicans throughout Mer des Ennuis when his phone rang.
“Mikolás speaking.”
“Hello director, this is General Adams. I trust your investigation of the late Carpathia Ziemowit’s death is going well?”
“I have to confess that we are making little progress, but my agents are chasing up leads. What, may I ask, is the real nature of this call?”
“Well director, I have MI on it, but I think you would be faster. What information do you have on Senator Armstrong?”
Mikolás shuffled a few papers around.
“Why yes, I do have information on him. He was a vocal critic of Ziemowit during the Lumierian crisis, and we have somewhat credible links between him and separatist groups.”
“Very good Director. Fax them to me.”
“As you wish.”

Three hours later, on Mer des Ennuis drive, General of the Home Guard Adam Wincenty stood at the head of the 7th Light Battalion of the 11th Mer des Ennuis Guard, along with 100 members of the 7th Military Police company. He was flanked by a pair of DGS officers. In perfect formation, the force marched down Capital Avenue, a road that could have been the driveway for the massive Republican Senate chambers. During the twenty five minutes it took for the troopers to march the length, the international press had arrived, and were filming the contingent.
General Wincenty ascended the stairs, and knocked the massive doors of the senate chambers, the thunderous boom echoing through the hallways. Senator Armstrong, aware that the cohort was coming for him, opened the door and stepped across the threshold. The senator bore a passing resemblance to a young Carpathia Ziemowit.
“What brings you here, General Wincenty?” asked the champion of the Senate, Mikael Armstrong.
“Senator, under power vested in me by the emergency declaration of Marshal Law, I am arresting you in connect with the assassination of Carpathia Ziemowit. We have credible evidence that you are tied to militant separatist organizations, as well as other illegal organizations. For the foreseeable future, you are to be stripped of your position.”
“Very well.” replied Armstrong.
Wincenty turned to face the perfect rows of armor clad troops behind him.
“As of now, the Republican Senate of Mer des Ennuis is stripped of its powers. I am assuming control of the government until all appropriate investigations, seizures, and trails related to the assassinations of Carpathia Ziemowit and Senator Wlodek Mieczyslaw. Security of the nation will now be provided exclusively by the joint command of the Army and the Homeguard.”
Looking down at his men, he gave the order.
“Secure the building. Everyone inside is to be placed under house arrest.”
