All Our Hopes and Dreams

The Year 2016.

Grand-Technocrat Mina Veristek smiled as she watched a glass of champange tumbling over and over for what seemed like an eternity in the endless void of space on a large LCD screen. Suddenly, the glass shattered on a metallic surface, several meters from bold letters denoting the following, "Starbase Dawn". The view zoomed out to reveal the large metallic structure, seemingly futuristic in appearance compared to the first two space stations the Sharina Technocracy has built.

Mina smiled again, as she turned her face towards a large assembly of reporters, scientists, and civilians present. She spoke with great determination as she knew what she spoke would go down in history.

"Starbase Dawn is now officially commissioned and operational. It will be our very first large scale manned mission outside of Earth's orbit. It is going to be deployed in the orbit of Mars to aid in our long term exploration and colonization of Mars.

The newly developed Cessini-II system is far superior to the old clunky propulsion and power generation of old days. Ion propulsion, space-based nuclear fission generators, spidersilk steel, centifrugal cylinders, and carbon nanotubes are what makes Starbase Dawn possible. Dawn has been built to support a permanent human presence in Mars orbit, which allows for cargo transfer, resupply, and space-to-ground support.

With Dawn completed and deployed, our future shall shine bright. No longer are we limited to one planet. With these first steps of a permanent manned presence in space other than Earth's orbit, it opens up unbridled potential for our future. We are no longer threatened with extinction, and we stand to gain enormous amounts of knowledge, understanding, and prosperity in outer space. Let the stars bear witness to Sharina's emergence in outer space!"

Loud appaluse could be heard throughout the crowd assembled.

Mina turned towards the screen as the view changed to a relatively young looking woman.

"Kalista Veristek, you have a go."

Kalista gave a salute and then smiled afterwards.

"Yes, ma'am!"

The view switched back to the outside of Dawn, and the large station began moving slowly as its powerful ion thrusters leapt into action. The station began to grow smaller and smaller as it went on what seemed like a sprint into nowhere. After several more minutes, the station was gone from the video view, carrying the hopes, dreams, and optimism of the Sharinan people along with it.

Sharinan history was to be made.

Ivellios: Kormanthor’s City of Tomorrow- Located near the Planet Mars in the Earth Five Dimension

The Year 2016; Earth V Time / Just after the Star City/HOB Wars; Kore Time

Admirals Log:

It has been just twenty four hours since we finished our campaign against the Hand of Blake ( HOB ) forces from the neighboring solar system. From documentation found in HOB Computers we have found out that after their sound defeat in their solar system by a group known only as the Wolfs Dragoons the remaining HOB forces decided that this solar system would be where they would retreat to regroup and rebuild for another attack on their home system. Normally an attack from such a group such as the HOB would not even tax the abilities of Ivellios. But because of attacks on the city by the mercenary insectoids sent by the Star City who we had just barely been able to defeat just before the arrival of the HOB on Mars. We were just starting to rebuild our defenses and repair our damage when the the HOB arrived. Because of this their ships & mecha took us longer to defeat and only added to the Cities damage. All of our farms have been destroyed, we do have a small emergency back up food supply but it will not last until the next scheduled deliveries from Earth Prime arrives. So we must chance a return to Earth V to see if we might acquire assistance from someone there. We have entrusted this assignment to the UTS Waterford an armed freighter
which should be nearing Earth V's moon even now.

Ivellios: Kormanthor’s City of Tomorrow- Located near the Planet Mars in the Earth Five Dimension

The Year 2016; Earth V Time / Just after the Star City/HOB Wars; Kore Time

Admirals Log:

Although it has been many centuries of Kore time since we made first contact with Earth V by attempting to colonize a portion of Canada which did not end well I see no other options then to attempt a second contact of that planet if Ivellios is to survive. Hopefully the fact that we have just defeated a invading force that could have easily taken over Earth V by force will be a deciding factor in this contact attempt. The defense of Earth V from alien attack has always been one of Ivellios' main objectives ... we must not fail now!

Aboard UTS Waterford / Captains Ready Room

" Captain we are nearing our insertion point for Earth V orbit. We have scanned all the orbiting vehicles, most are differant type satillites. However there are a number of space stations in orbit. The most technically advanced station is named Starbase Dawn that belongs to the Sharina Technocracy I recomemmend we use them as our second contact. "reports Commander Little

" Thank You Number One, I agree, yes I remember reading about our first contact attempt. This Sharina was one of the major players then so it stands to reason that they would have the largest and most advanced station now. I have also read reports from Virgin Incursions intelligence community on the other major players. Some of the most hostile have stations in orbit and at least one has spacefighter planes. They also have mircowave and nuclear capibilities so we must protect ourselves from possible atack. For that reason I want to decloak now so they can watch our approach because I don't want to scare the bejesus out of them by decloaking right beside them. Also I want full shields up, keep the weapons on standby in case we are attacked by one of the hostile nations. Finally park us one mile from Starbase Dawn while sending friendship messages over communications channels. " replies Captain Farrar.

" Aye Sir, I will see to it personally." answers Commander Little.

Aboard the Dark Queens cloaked Starship ...


Excuse me your highness the Ivellios freighter is entering orbit even as we speak. They are on course for the Sharina Technocracies Starbase Dawn.

Thank You James, please ready the upgraded Earth V spacefighters for our first attack. They may have beat our allies ... the Hand of Blake, but I am not done with them by a long shot. They have taken my sister Queen Casiopia from the underground prison where I enprisoned her and her brats, for that I will have my revenge.

Captain Kalista Veristek looked at her command center, and chuckled softly to herself. She muttered something barely audible.

"I feel like a captain in these science fiction movies."

The starbase's pilot, Myron Glenn, the great-grandchild of John Glenn, turned his head to look at Kalista questioningly. Kalista shook her head in response.

"Its nothing, really."

Another crewmember securely strapped within his chair began shouting out loudly.

"I'm detecting an abnormal mass approaching! It doesn't seem like an asteroid as it is moving too quickly and uniformly for an asteroid."

Kalista turned her head sharply towards the crewmember, as she barked out orders.

"Analysis, please!"

The crewmember shook his head frantically.

"We can't tell much. It's apparently a metallic object, which can only mean one thing. Its another ship, but there are no other Sharinan vessels out there and nothing of such mass."

Kalista arched an eyebrow.

"Send out a hail to that ship, object, or whatever that is. Perhaps they will respond."

Communication to unidentified object (radio transmission):

"Greetings. This is the Sharinan starbase Dawn. Who do we have the honor of speaking to?"

On the Waterford Bridge; as the it eases into orbit near the Sharina Technocracies Starbase ...

" Captain we are recieving a message from Starbase Dawn." reports
Lt. Brent Delong.

" Wonderful, put it on speaker Mr. Delong." replies the Captain.

" Aye Sir responds Lt. Delong.

"Greetings. This is the Sharinan starbase Dawn. Who do we have the honor of speaking to?"
In response to hearing the question the Captain hits a button on her chair
which opens the channel to station.

" This is the UTS Waterford a Kormanthorian starfreighter, we hope you remember us from our first meeting many years ago when we landed on your beautiful planet for a short time in hopes of a successful first contact. Now we return because we are in dire need of your help. " says Captain Gwendilynne Farrar.

Captain Kalista listened carefully to the broadcast from the now-identified freighter vessel, and quickly responded.

"Sharina does remember the people of Kormanthor. We have progressed much since the last contact between our two people.

We would be more than happy to lend any assistance. How may we lend our help to the Kormanthor people?"

OCC: Earth Prime is what I call the Earth where our countries are started on.

Captain Farrar also remembered and felt a feeling of relief creeping into her body. There welcome during their first visit was meant by some with a less then friendly attitude. She had family members aboard those first colony ships. She had been concerned but Dawn's first communication was encouraging.

" Hello! ... this is Captain Gwendilynne Farrar speaking, after our exodus of Earth V following our unsuccessful first contact attempt we built a city on the surface of Mars so we could at least protect Earth V from a invasion of hostile aliens until such time we might be welcomed back. After accomplishing that we began to build a new type of colony vessel which is basically a city built on top of a huge saucer. That Saucer City is now all that is left of our Mars colony. We were attacked by two differant species working together. One is a insectoid race working for our old enemies from the Star City we discovered early in our history. The other is a new enemy from the neighboring solar system that wanted Earth V for their own. They have been defeated at least for the moment. It is possible that another attack is even now being
planned, hopefully not right away. Earth Prime is even now is in the process of securing our supply lines but it will take a while longer. We are in the process of rebuilding from the resources we take from the asteroid ring. However what we need most of all right now is food and water until we can complete our reconstruction. That is why we now need your help. We are willing to pay for whatever help you can render.

Captain Kalista listened carefully once again to the message and then responded as quickly as she did prior to the message.

"We would be more than happy to bring food and supplies. However, we are unsure how much use our supplies would be, considering we must be pretty primitive compared to your advanced civilization.

We are currently en-route to Mars, but we will not be able to reach Mars for at least three weeks, even if we engaged our ion thrusters to their maximum. We dare not exceed safety velocity with the starbase, as we do not want to risk catastrophic failure on Sharina's first manned mission to Mars, and the starbase is not exactly suited for extreme travel stresses.

Despite these problems, we shall attempt to help in any way we can."

Captain Farrar grinned to herself as she listened to the Captain of the Sharina Technocracies Starbase. They didn't yet realize Kormanthor's actual technology level. Hopefully they would allow her to help in this situation because time might very well be shorter then they thought.

" I think we can help you with that problem Captain. We can give you technology that would allow you to travel that distance much faster on your own or we could send a ship that could transport your entire base in one of it's launch bays. This ship is capable of transporting food & water to Mars in a matter of minutes. Also we have a ship enroute to escort you to Mars if you wish to use your own technology the first time. I am also authorizied to help you build a space elevator somewhere in your territory if you wish.

Captain Kalista attempted to suppress the various emotions of excitement, awe, and fear as the Kormanthorian captain responded to the message.

Reaching Mars in mere minutes? Incredible!

Kalista shook her head quietly, before responding.

"We would be happy to unload as much food and water as we can, as we have approximately 500 tons of extra food and water onboard. We can also supply some spare solar panels if your colonists lack power.

As for the base itself, we do not want to impose upon your people as your people are already having troubles. We will make the journey under our own power to make it easier on your people.

As for the technology and knowledge trade, you may contact the Sharinan leadership back on Earth. A lot has changed since Kormanthor last visited Earth, as Sharina has managed to unify the Americas, Pacific Ocean, Australia, Antarctica, and Western Africa. The other powers have descended into petty wars and squabbles, and are of little threat or consquence.

Once the base arrives in orbit of Mars, perhaps we could work upon establishing an embassy of sorts, should your troubles be resolved by then. Does this sound agreeable?"

Aboard the Dark Queens cloaked Starship ...

" Launch the attack squadron now!" said the Dark Queen. " Yes your highness it will done immediately.

"

Captain Farrar relaxed visibly as she heard Captain Kalista offer the 500 tons of extra food, water onboard she had on board because she knew her colony was in dire need. The spare solar panels could also be useful in the
residential district of the City.

" You may make the trip on your own if you wish, however do not do so to save my ships power. This ship was overhauled just before the attack occured, so we have a power source that will last for up to five years. The solar panels could be used aboard the City Ship to power the residential district. Which would free up needed power for ship operations. Then again I could save you food and power if you allow me to tractor your .... "

Suddenly the alarms started going off, and the shields snapped on automatically!

" Maam I have a squadron of what seem to be native starfighters coming in
out of the sun. reported Lt. Carliale.

" Scan them Mr. Carliale, are they a threat to this ship? asked the Captain.

" Aye Sir " answered Lt. Carliale

After a few seconds the scan is completed

" Maam these craft seem similiar to starfighters that VirginIncursion used when she had a colony country here on Earth V. However they have been updated with Hand of Blake technolgy which makes them more dangerous then native starfighters but it would take them a long time to hurt us even a little. But they could possibly hurt the Sharina Technocracy Star Base. " answered Lt.

" VirginIncursion Starfighters? There's only one person who might still have technical information on Queen Casiopia's technology besides ourselves! Mr. Carliale move us closer to the Star Base and
extend the ships shields around it, power all weapons systems and give me a visual of our adversary.
Also scan for other fleet ships that are near enough to render assistance if we need it. Then contact them and ask them to stand by. " ordered the Captain.

" Aye Captain answered Lt. Carliale.

Pilot Myron Glenn looked up sharply as he addressed his captain.

"I'm detecting the Kormanthorian craft moving closer to us, and some of the readings don't make sense."

Kalista arched an eyebrow and she immediately opened up a channel to the Kormanthorian ship once again.

"What is going on? My pilot says your ship is moving closer to us. Is there a threat out there we are not aware of, or are you preparing to pick up the foodstuffs?"

" Forgive me Captain Kalista, in the excitement I forgot you can't see what we see. You see we have picked up a squadron of starfigters heading our way, now they may be from somewhere on Earth V or there may be a mothership somewhere near. From their readings they aren't really dangerous to us but we are concerned they might be able to harm your station so we are moving closer to extend our ships force field around your station as well. As far as the food and water is concerned we can move it ourselves if you tell us where they are located on your station. The process we use is harmless to you and will be much quicker then having to dock and do it manually. Also if you don't mind I would like to send a technician over to your station to update your sensors, communications, and engines so you can hear and see the threat on our level of tech and so we can shorten the time needed for your station to travel to Mars. Would that be ok with you? explained Captain Farrar.

Kalista returned the Kormanthorian hail quickly.

"Thank you for explaining the situation, and your offer. A few things, and I'll be concise as I know time is brief right now.

First, the foodstuffs is located in the lower portion of the station, your advanced sensors should be able to detect the presence of abnormal quantities of water. That is where the majority of our extra food stores are and feel free to upload them onto your ship, as time is apparently of the essence.

Second, I would be honored to have a Kormanthorian technician come onto the station to add your sensor capability or such to our station. I do have a request, however. I was wondering if your people could give us the know-how to build and repair more of your sensors in the future so that we won't be so vulnerable, and we will be able to keep a watch over Earth's space for more of these intruders?

Third, once the enemy is dealt with, may we attempt to shorten our journey if possible as you informed me that it wouldn't be an imposition? Then we can focus on helping your people on Mars the sooner.

Is all of this agreeable?"

Aboard UTS Waterford / Main Bridge

Captain Farrar listened carefully to her Sharina Technocracies counterpart then immediately responded.

" Yes Captain that sounds fine to me. I am about to transport the cargo off your ship and please be aware that my technician's will be arriving on your bridge momentarily, please don't be alarmed by their sudden appearance. Now please excuse me moment Captain while I issue the orders. "

Gwendilynne quickly opened a intraship channel ...

" Captain to Transporter room three, please scan the lower half of the star base to assertain the coordinates of the extra food & water stores
and beam it into the cargo bays, and transport the Technician's to the star base's bridge.

" Transporter Room Three here Captain, I have the cordinates and am
starting the cargo transporters now. Technician's Guess & Ward are transporting as we speak. "

" Fine Transporter Room ... Captain Out

Then Gwendilynne switched back to the open channel to Star Base Dawn.

" Thank You for your patience Captain Kalista, my technicians will finish your updates as quickly as possible. I instructed them to start on your sensors and communication first so you will be able to track and visually watch the action to come.

Captain Kalista returned the Kormanthorian captain's message.

"Thank you. Hopefully with these updates, we will be able to help your people even sooner."

Kalista waited expectantly for the arrival of the Kormanthorian technician. When the technician arrived in a burst of light, Kalista was taken aback, but only momentarily. She remembered watching some classic sci-fi shows back home, and recalled a similiar occurrence in a sci-fi franchise known as "Star Trek" and chuckled to herself softly.

To see such things in person!

She smiled at the technician and extended an hand in greeting.

"Welcome to Starbase Dawn. We are honored to have you here to aid us."

Aboard Star Dawn / Bridge

As the transporter effects releases the two technicians they find themselves facing Captain Kalista as she speaks for the first time to them while smiling and extending a hand in greeting.

" Welcome to Starbase Dawn. We are honored to have you here to aid us."

" Thank You Captain, it is our pleasure to server under you if even for a short while we install the updated systems. After all how many people can say they played a part in making history by making a successful new contact with people from another world? However small that part might be. Now if you might be good enough to show us the way to your sensor panel we will install the new consule first. " answered Technician Ward as he and Technician's Guess smiled back and shook the Captain's extended hand.

Captain Kalista nodded towards the Kormathorians.

"Thank you. Come this way."

She made her way towards the sensor station to the right of the captain's chair. She turned around to address the Kormathorians as the sensor officer moved out of the way.

"Here are the majority of our sensor readings. I'm curious to see how you can adapt your advanced sensors to such primitive ones in comparison. It would be something akin to installing laser rifle components within a traditional gunpowder musket."

As Technician Ward neared the Sharina Technocracies sensor station he reached into his technicians bag and extracted a small box which he then simply set down on top of the old consule, using some special keys he opened a small door in the side of the box. Again he rommaged through his bag and finally pulled out a strange looking little keypad into which he typed special commands. Suddenly what looked like a puddle of very thick water about the size of a small coin emerged from the box. It moved as if alive, and immediately spread out across the consule. Soon it disappeared as if it had merged right into the metal of the consule covering. Without any further warning the metal began to change, soon you could see straight through it. Then thin tenticles of the water like substance could be seen spreading out within the consule and breaking down the metal itself for building materials,
with these building materials the water's mass seemed to increase. Again it began it spread out and started building a new system. Finally the consule took on the look of being solid again, but now the shape and look was more futuristic then the original consule covering. Again the technician rommaged in his bag to retrieve a monitoring device, after activating the device he ran it back and forth across the consule and then turned to speak.
" Ok now that the consule is finished the nanobot's will follow the course of the old sysytem through your base until they reach your sensor hull plates updating as they go. They should be finished in about ten minutes or so. We will of course stay until that time so we can check their work behind them. Which should if all go's well take only a few minute's after they finish their task. stated Technician Ward.

Captain Kalista and the command crew looked on with utter amazement as the nanbots performed their actions. After the nanbots disappeared into the wiring and conduits, she turned towards the technicians.

"I wonder how we will be able to manufacture such wondorous things and technologies with our 21st century industry. Not only the nanobots, but your current sensor technology and equipment so not to require the nanobot updating constantly."

Finally the monitoring device beeped indicating that the Nanobot's had finished their work. Immediately Technician Guess started scanning the entire system that had just been constructed by the nanobot's. After a few minute's he decided that the new system was ready for use. Then turned to Technician Ward and began to speak ...

" OK now that the new sensor system is up and running I will go to engineering to build a new power source and engines while you take care of the new communication consule. "

He then turned to the Captain and spoke ...

" Excuse me Captain I would like to announce that your new sensor consule is ready for immediate use. Also with your permission and an escort I will now go to engineering to install a new power source and impulse engines for your trip to mars. Technician Ward will stay here on the bridge to install your new communication consule. To answer your question about your ability to do such things yourself, we will have to train you in the use of nanobot's and other technologies. This technology can be a wonderous thing as you have witnessed today in the hands of licensed, experienced professionals. It can also be devistating in the hands of inexperienced people. You see the nanobot's need to be programmed with the correct instructions because if let loose without instructions and unchecked they could destroy an entire civilzation. Do not worry about these nanobot's because they have been programmed correctly and will continue to fix any problems you might experience with your new systems without any outside influence for many years to come. They will also instruct members of your crew on the correct operations procedures so you can begin using the new equipment. Now I had better get back to work, could you assign me an escort to engineering? "

Meanwhile outside the star fighters begin their attack runs ... Aboard the UTS Waterford's Main Bridge

" Captain the star fighter squadron are beginning their attack runs. "
reported Lt. Carliale.

Suddenly the ship slightly shuttered from the attack of the enemy squadron but was not harmed otherwise ...

" You may return fire at will gentlemen, enlighten these people as to whom they are dealing with! " said Captain Farrar

Outside the weapons of the Waterford opens up on the enemy squadron immediately vaporizing the two closest star fighters without any problem at all.

Captain Kalista nodded as the Kormanthorian explained the situation regarding the Nanobots.

"I understand perfectly what you mean. There has been a few science fiction novels about such catastrophes occurring, and after witnessing the actual nanobots, I can see that such novels are not so far-fetched as they seem to be.

As for engineering, I must warn you, we do not have artificial gravity. When you manuever through the passageway to engineering, you will have to use handholds and footholds. I will direct Myron Glenn to take you there."

Kalista turned her head towards Myron Glenn.

"See to it that these honorable gentlemen are escorted to our engineering section."

Myron rose from his pilot's console and made his way towards the Kormanthorians, and started beckoning them towards engineering. A couple minutes later, after some climbing and zero-gravity manuevering, in addition to some small talk, the group finally reached the engineering section of the base. The section seemed rather small and cramped, as the engines themselves took up the majority of the section, hidden behind heavy reinforced steel plates designed to protect the interior of the ship should the engines experience failure.

Myron made his way towards a console near the center of the room, and motioned the Kormanthorians towards the console.

"This is the engineering console, gentlemen."

IC: Within Starbase Dawns engineering room

" Ouch ... I figured your space would be small by comparison to the Waterfords but it's even smaller then I thought. Not to worry though there's more then one way to skin a cat. Give me a minute while I call my ship. " said Technician Guess.

From outside appearances Guess then seems go into a trancelike state as he activates his internal comm unit through a mental link and begins to speak to Captain Farrar on the Waterford.

' Technician Guess to Captain Farrar ... Captain we will need to go with Plan B.

Understood Mr. Guess I will call Captain Kalista to make arrangements and I will get back to you. You may start programming your Nanobot's for Plan B variables ... Farrar Out.

" OK now we wait until I hear from the Captain. " said Guess to his associates.

OCC: The liberty taken is not a problem.

Aboard the UTS Waterford's Main Bridge

As Captain Farrar touched the open channel button on the arm of her Command Chair another star fighter attack rocks the ship once again.

' Please excuse the intrusion Captain Kalista but I have just spoken to Technician Guess and need to discuss a change of plans with you concerning
the process in which we will upgrade your engines. '

Outside the battle continues as the Waterford returns fire and flames four more star fighters.

As Captain Farrar touched the open channel button on the arm of her Command Chair another star fighter attack rocks the ship once again.

' Please excuse the intrusion Captain Kalista but I have just spoken to Technician Guess and need to discuss a change of plans with you concerning
the process in which we will upgrade your engines. '

Outside the battle continues as the Waterford returns fire and flames four more star fighters.

Captain Kalista responds.

"I'm all ears, Captain Farrar."

Aboard the Waterford's Bridge / Captain Farrar continues ...

Captain first I have recieved a report from the UKS Fearless a Kormetheus Class Cruiser
that they have found the mothership of these fighters on the farside of the planet and it is enroute to our location. Because of this command has ordered the UKS Nacross Asgard a KorARMD SuperCarrier to assist us as the Waterford can't protect you from the mothership. Secondly your engine room isn't big enough to hold the impulse engines and powerplant that we plan on installing and I don't want to leave you without power while the nanobot's reconfigure your systems. Normally we could supply your base with power for the duration, but the Waterford is only a freighter and can't protect you and provide the power at the same time. So I wished to warn you of the carriers arrival before hand. When it arrives it will be necessary to move your base inside one of it's larger repair bays to install your new equipment. Is this agreeable to you?

Aboard the UKS Fearless

Alien ship this is Captain Raven Kestrel commanding the UKS Fearless, we know you are responsible for the attack on our freighter and the Sharina Technocracies Star Base. You are ordered to stand down your engines and make ready to be boarded or we will destroy you!

Aboard the UKS Nacross Asgard passing through the orbit of Earth V's moon as it decelerates towards Earth V orbit.

Captain we will intercept the Waterford and Star Base Dawn in five minutes.

Nicely done Mr. Graf, ... Ms Haslev contact Captain Kestrel on the Fearless to see if she needs help with that mothership.

Captain Kalista returns the Kormanthorian inquiry promptly.

"Of course. Are there any particular preparations we need to do? Do we have to shut down our engines, brace ourselves for sudden inertia changes, or the like?

I was actually wondering where all these starfighters could originate from. Tactically, small vessels or fighter craft like these aren't able to travel far. This should hold true for outer space just like within the oceans of Earth."

Captain Farrar starts to grin, then after arching her right eyebrow she suddenly gets a worried look on her face as she begins to speak ...

" Shuting down your engines will be required when we are ready to use the nano tech on them yes. However there is no need to until then, during that time the carrier will supply your station with it's power requirements. About the inertia question, I must admit I had not thought of that. I guess I am so use to our inertia dampners I sometimes take them for granted. Although you will definately be able to feel the movement of your Star Base as it is tractored into the repair bay I don't think the effect would be felt to a point where people could be hurt. But just to be safe I will ask the operator of the tractor beam to reduce the beams power level to it's lowest setting. As for your concerns of the enemy fighters, there are many types of starfighters being used by differant factions of the universe. Some are as you say, unable to travel long distances. But fighters fitted with simple impulse engines are able to travel most anywhere within a given solar system, even ion power craft can do the same at a much slow speed. Then there are the warp capable fighters that have the ability to travel through deep space at the lower warp speeds. Finally there is one important difference between space travel and undersea travel ... in space there is no drag effect ... nothing that will slow your speed once you have obtained it other then some type of braking thrust or of course collison with some other body in your flight path. "

Captain Kalista mulled over the response from Captain Farrar for several seconds, and then quickly composed a response as she was trained to respond quickly to important situations, events, or diplomacy as part of the Sharina Aeronautical and Interstellar Branch program.

"Very well, we leave it in your capable hands. I appreciate all the aid you are giving us. Once we take care of the upgrades and finish off these fighters, we can proceed to Mars and rescue your people there from starvation and suffering."

"Excuse me your highness the Ivellios freighter is protecting the Sharina Technocracies Star Base and has destroyed six of our starfighters. Unforunately they have also called in help, I have picked up a Ivellios KorARMD SuperCarrier entering orbit near the freighter and I have communication from a Ivellios Kormetheus Class Cruiser demanding us to stand down our engines and make ready to be boarded or they say they will destroy us!" exclaimed James.

"Excuse me! Boarded!? They must be mad, they think that I will surrounder to them! So they dare to threaten to destroy my ship! I want that ship destroyed! Target the Cruiser with our heat seeking concussion missiles and fire! Then lay a course to the back side of the moon, we will circle the moon then fire again."

Outside the starship decloaks as the concussion missile bay doors open, then three missiles are fired at the Fearless, then the starship streaks into hyperspace.

" Captain the alien ship has fired three concussion missiles with nuclear warheads at us! " screams Lt. Evans.

Outside as the Fearless streaks backwards away from the concusion missiles, three photon torpedoe's streak out and destroy the missiles. The resulting nuclear explosion can be seen for many miles, the Fearless is shaken but remains unharmed.

" Captain we are receiving a message from the Nacross Asgard asking if we need some help with the mothership." reports Lt. Shultz.

" Thank You Lt. Shultz ... ask them if they are able to track ships in hyperspace. If not I would appreciate it if they could scan the area for the ship from their position while we do the same. answered Raven Kestrel.

" Right Away Captain answers Lt. Shultz.

" Mr. Jenkins come to full stop. Ms Evans scan the area for the alien ship. Lt. Commander Johnson activate the phase cloak. " orders the Capatain.

Outside the Fearless can been seen slowing to a stop to momentarily hang in space until it disapears from view as the cloak is activated.

We have made good progress on rebuilding the Terran Capital City and beefing up the planets defenses, we will soon have a viable colony planet in this system. Finally I have good news to log, the Sharina Technocracies has agreed to help us and in fact has already sent a shipment of very sorely needed supplies aboard the freighter Waterford. I am recommending Captain Farrar and her entire crew for accommendations for there part in securing Sharina's assistance. The freighter quickly off loaded the supplies and departed for Earth V again because I have instructed Captain Farrar to make contact with Sharina Government officals on the planets surface concerning more supplies.

After hearing the message, Captain Kalista turned towards her engineer situated to the right of her chair.

"Mr. Sallet, please shut down our engines."

Henry Sallet nodded confirmation, and deftly pushed a few buttons in a sequence, and a short time afterwards, the large ion engines began powering down.

Aboard Star Base Dawn

Both Kor technicians activate the nanobot's in the engine rooms then activate their monitoring equipment to make sure the process is progressing correctly. After about an hours time the equipment registers that the nanobots have finished their work in rebuilding the engine spaces. Now the large ion engines have been replaced with large impulse engines capable of traveling to the edge of the solar system in a matter of hours.

We had originally set aside several tons of food for consumption during the months of travel time between Earth and Mars, but now we do not need that much food anymore thanks to your fantastic upgrade to our engines."

' Thanks to your help we will be able to survive until Earth Prime works out the problems with the trade routes. These upgrades are the least we can do. I would like to think that this is the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship between our peoples. About the trip to Mars, we are going to wait here for the Waterfords return, so we can search for the alien mothership, but we will send three escort ships with you.'

"Mr. Sallet, please bring our engine speed to zero, and begin preparations for geostationary orbit.

Mr. Glenn, ascertain that there are no dangers, and bring us into orbit-keeping position.

Mr. Davidus, begin scans for anything out of the ordinary, and begin mapping out Mars."

The three crewmembers promptly leapt into action, not wasting any time or breath in undertaking their vital tasks. Meanwhile, Kalista opened a channel to the lead Kormanthorian escort vessel.

"Thank you for your escort. Where is this base of yours that needs to be supplied with the food, water, and surplus resources?"

" No your highness it is still in Earth 5 orbit as is that damnable cruiser."

" Yes it is getting rather dangerous here, pick up the starfighters then make our heading for the Inner Sphere of the HOB Solar system we need reenforcements" said the Dark Queen."

" It will be done immediately my Queen " promises James.

" Excuse me your highness, we are entering the new HOB solar system we will arrive planetside in a few hours." reports James.

" Very Good, I think I'm going to take a nap until we arrive. Please wake me then." " states the Dark Queen.

Starbase Dawn slowly manuevered its seemingly cumbersome bulk as it approached the coordinates provided by the Kormanthorian vessel several minutes earlier. The large structure rotated slightly as it began moving into the most optimal position to begin offloading its surplus food and water stores. Activity picked up within the command center of the base while the final preparations were taken underway.

Captain Kalista looked towards the planet looming larger than life in a window at the front of the command center. She turned towards a console and pressed several buttons to open up a communications channel as her communication officer was busy handling inter-base communication chatter. With a barely audible click, a channel was opened towards the coordinates given by the Kormanthorian ship.

"Greetings. This is Captain Kalista of the Sharinan starbase Dawn. I was instructed by UKPS Tawnni to approach this location to supply much needed relief aid comprising of foodstuffs and water. We would be more than happy to help."

Another click as the channel closed. All Kalista could do was to wait.

Captain Kalista listened carefully to the Kormanthorian message, and tried to discern the unfamiliar phrases the Admiral spoke. Kalista decided that the phrases could only mean good things as the Kormanthorians were nothing but cordial and extremely helpful. She opened up the communication channel to the Kormanthorian admiral as the thought crossed her mind. Instanteous communication would be interesting. She shook the thought free as she began composing her response.

"We have prepared our cargo for teleportation. It is my hope that the cargo will be able to feed your people. Speaking of food, I would be quite honored to dine with you tonight. It is also my hope that this can and will be the beginning of a fruitful and rewarding relationship for both our people."

Kalista closed the channel and quickly departed towards her domicile to prepare for the upcoming dinner.

Which is the center & tallest building of the seven building complex. Surrounding this breath-taking tower are the six other towers that complete the complex that is the center of The Cityscape Of SelveriMoon. Beyond this wondrous tower complex the city proper sprawls out two hundred fifty miles in all directions. Miles below the western coast of Kormanthor can only see this wondrous city as small silver disk. In the skies above the city proper various types of aerial & spacecraft can be seen darting about. Then you hear the soft musical voice of the eleven lass start to speak….)

She shook her head to clear out her thoughts as she approached the cargo bay, in shining boots, straight and crease-less uniform tunic, and a band to tie off her hair into a ponytail. Kalista awaited the arrival with the expectation of a treasure hunter discovering a long lost treasure.

Captain Kalista responded.

Captain Marra eased the transport into the docking port until he heard the locking mechanisms engage. Then quickly powered down the engines, locked out the control board then hurried to the port where he opened the door to wait for Captain Kalista's arrival.

‘ According to the most conservative estimates, the Earth V Universe like the Milky Way, contains more then one hundred billion stars ‘, thought Commodore Shaun Caesar as he stood on the main observation deck of the Terra Star Gate looking out at the spinning planet below. In the distance he could see the UKS Golden Dragon a Celestial Dragon Class Dreadnought commanded by Captain Robert Lloyd floating in a higher orbit then that of the Star Gate, as well as the partially constructed as of yet unnamed orbital city. He was starting to get concerned about Ivellios, the Star City near Mars in the Sol System of this dimension, the last he had heard was that Adm. Valanthe Elessedil had invited the Earth V Star Base Commander, Captain Kalista Veristek to dinner aboard the Star City, and he had not heard anything else since. Captain Kalista as she liked to be called represented a very important second contact of a Earth V nation which he hoped would be successful this time.
It didn’t help relieve his worry that he had received a communication from Captain Stephanie Chaffin, commanding the UKS Moon Dragon a Celestial Dragon Class Dreadnought that a number ships from her fleet had trailed the Dark Queens Starship to the Hand of Blake’s new planet from somewhere near the Planet Mars. But good news had come from Captain Heather Winninger of the UKS Celestial Vigilance a Peacekeeper Class Dreadnought who reported that her fleet had finally broken a hole in the enemies blockade of the Earth V / Earth Prime Dimensional Wormhole and freed up the last supply fleet that would have to use that entrance to this Universe. Now all supplies would be brought straight to Terra through this new orbital star gate that the fleet engineers had final finished construction on.

Aboard the UKS Celestial Vigilance

Captain Heather Winninger knew that she still had a big job ahead of her even though her fleet had finally retaken the Earth V / Earth Prime Dimensional Wormhole. Now the task of building a permanent ring of protection for the wormhole had been started. Phase one of this huge undertaking entailed the construction of a Ekhodas Class Star Base, this would take about five years to complete. Phase two would be a Synapse Gate Class Star City which would become the gateway to this universe eventually,this would about 2.5 years to finish as would the third phase. The third and final phase would a Terra Class Star Gate through which emergency supplies and ships could enter the Earth V Dimension, so she was looking at about a ten year project here.
