Imperial Palace, Yuuzhan'tar

Lord Kunra Esh, grandson of the liberator Shoon-mi Esh, Emperor of the Yuuzhan Vong, Sith Lord, sat through yet another situation conference in his audience chamber. The villip choir before him displayed the sketchy details of the invasion of New Dornalia, accompanied by the drone of a Fleet Intelligence officer.

"...We believe that the Allaneans seek to knock the Dornalians out of the war in one swift attack before moving on to other priority targets. The information we have now is incomplete at best, but it seems as though a full scale invasion is taking place..."

With a wave of his hand, Kunra bid the man to move on to the next piece of information. Lately the situation conferences had become dull. Little of interest was happening and the anticipated "main thrust" of the ESUS had never materialized. Yuuzhan Vong fleets sat at home in full readyness, expecting to counter the major thrust that wasn't coming.

Effortlessly switching topics, the intelligence officer began detailing the progress on the Xanthalian front. "The Xanthalians are clearly on the losing side of this battle. The Grummans continue to press them back relentlessly, although at heavy cost to themselves as well as the Xanthalians. According to our estimates, approximately half of the Northrop-Grumman fleet is now committed to this battle..."

"So much at one place?"

"Yes, m'lord. It would seem they are not so economical with their resources as we are..."

"Where are the rest of their forces?" Kunra had a habit of cutting off subordinates.

"Our sources place them in the Sol system, they number perhaps a thousand vessels of all types we believe." the officer responded, after checking a datapad with his notes.

"Would you consider this an opportune time for a counter-offensive?" Kunra asked, putting the young intelligence officer on the spot.

After a few moments of thought, he responded. "Yes, m'lord. We have more than enough forces to knock them out of the war, if deployed in a timely fashion."

And so the idea was conceived. The first Federation counter attack of the war. Planning of course took time, with the fleet operations staff constantly reporting back to the Emperor. Eventually, however, a plan came together. Operation Vengeful Neighbour was ordered.

Hyperspace Coordinates -152, -466

The Yuuzhan Vong armada surged out of hyperspace all at once, completely battle ready with scanners active and fighters ready to launch. This was the last deep space re-orientation point before the armada arrived in the Sol system. Everything was ready, crews were vigilant, fighters armed and fueled, weapons armed and shields prepped.

Mere milliseconds after emerging from hyperspace, the entire armada began to turn as one toward the Sol system. Yammosk war coordinators aboard all command vessels spoke to each other and their flocks of ships simultaneously. The armada was superbly coordinated, able to maneuver, fire and deploy as one. The entire reorientation took less than ten seconds. As soon as it was completed the armada once again moved to hyperspace, less than an hour from Sol. Half a second before entering the darkness of hyperspace, a single burst message was send back to Yuuzhan'tar; Vengeance is wrought.

Sol System

Approximately 52 minutes later Grumman sensors would have picked up a massive gravitic surge approaching the system incredibly quickly. Mere seconds later, the Yuuzhan Vong armada blinked into existence around the orbit of the planet known as Jupiter. The armada was an impressive sight with a hundred Prophet Star Dreadnoughts, fifty Kor Chokk grand cruisers and hundreds of other vessels of varying sizes. In less than a second, three thousand Yuuzhan Vong vessels emerged in full combat readiness into the Sol System. Yammosks once again spoke to each other, and the half-living vessels immediately responded.

The entire armada, already in it's combat formation crawled forward deeper into the system. The larger ships spat forth swarms of fighters and fighter-bombers as they moved toward the bright blue dot blinking in the distance. Shields activated, dovin basals came alive with their artificial singularities and weapons began scanning for targets. The armada was split into three seperate groups of equal size and arrayed in a smooth echelon slanting out to the Yuuzhan Vong left. Fighters buzzed infront of and between each formation, scanning eagerly for the enemy fighters that were no doubt out there.

As the armada neared the asteroid belt, dovin basals aboard the larger ships began to push aside asteroids with their immense ability to manipulate gravity at will. As a hole began to form, the lead ships spewed forth the most terrifying Yuuzhan Vong space weapon - the grutchins. Tiny by space combat standards, at only 6 feet long, grutchins were unintelligent insectoid creatures capable of devouring entire starships with their acid-soaked mandibles. The armada released the tiny terrors in their thousands and even hundreds of thousands. The swarm sped off in the direction of Earth and it's protecting fleet, desperately seeking to quell it's tireless hunger for machinery. The grutchins would be the first combatants of the day, but behind them the Yuuzhan Vong armada slowly, ominously advanced toward Earth. Do-ro'ik Vong pratte! And woe to our enemies!

OOC: I suspect you can allow the other GFFA folks to make a shot at this thread, considering there's about to be seven or so ESUS nations that also make Sol their home going rather enormously ballistic.

City of Valacirca, Northrop-Grumman Mars

Leaning back in her armchair at her station, Sarah Tillotson leisurely read the Caprica City Times within the stillness of the small room. Even though her task had become to be quite essential in these hectic months on Mars, she still was the only person who manned the sensors station within the Corporation’s City of Valacirca. But working alone was the main reason she had wanted this job. Sure, it was hectic at times with all the blasting between the Mars nations, but she worked better this way instead of having to stumble over a second person. The peace and quiet of not having anyone here save for the beeping consoles appealed to her after spending most of her life in the bustling capital city, but she liked to keep up-to-date on the happenings in her hometown.

She was about to reach the sports section when the console in front of her started beeping madly. Dropping the heavy newspaper to the pocket on the side of her chair, she leaned forward and examined the screen carefully. Three thousand vessels appeared just outside of Jupiter, only one planet over from Sarah, but yet not on a bearing towards the Red Planet. It was not very common for such an immense fleet to be coming into Sol so she promptly began a scan of the vessels.

“Shit,” she cursed, finding out who these visitors truly were.

Sarah spun her chair over to another console and quickly typed a message out to the commander of the Corporation’s Earth battlefleet, sending it and the information from the scan out to him as soon as she could.

NGSS John Davis Northrop – Command Battlecarrier – Earth

Aboard the John Davis Northrop, Brigadier General Bradley Winchester’s quarters were still a mess even though he had been assigned the position of commander of this fleet almost two weeks ago. Boxes of his belongings were piled high in the corners, and his desk was overflowing with paperwork that still needed to be filled out. He was caught up in the middle of this mess at the moment, attempting to sort though the clothes that he had brought aboard with him.

A muffled buzzing noise emanating from the desk caught his attention and caused him to jerk his head up in surprise. Scrambling from the floor, he attempted to reach his desk and stumbled over all the junk on the floor. He then tried to uncover the switch for the comm systems and failing to remove the paperwork from his desk in an organized manner, haphazardly slid everything off the side until he could see the switch, which he promptly flicked.

Good morning, General.” His first officer replied. “We have just received word from the sensor station in Valacirca that a Yuuzhan Vong armada, three thousand vessels strong, has entered Sol and is on a bearing for Earth.”

Winchester thought for a moment before he replied, “Alright, Colonel, send word to the Chairman about this and prepare the fleet for an attack, launch all fighters and raise the shields. I will be on the bridge momentarily.”

“Very well, sir.”

One Zereul class battlecarrier, three Yorktown class carriers, seven Kingmaker class battleships, twenty Ancient class battlecruisers, and one-hundred twenty-five Wilmington class corvettes made up the defense fleet above the Northrop-Grumman homeland, and soon they turned from their orbiting positions and headed out away from the planet of Earth. The first thing that was done was to launch all fighters and bombers from the carriers and battlecarriers, thirteen-hundred fifty in all, followed by the raising of shields and the powering up of the main weapons batteries. They would be ready soon, ready to defend their homeland for the first time in the history of the Corporation.
