Today the Hatarian Imperial Navy tested a Nuclear Weapon in The Mediterranean Sea. The Test side was 1,000 Miles from Algeris, Hatarian Algeria.

There is not enough room in the Mediterranean Sea to test a nuke without encroaching on another nation's coastline, and the listed figure of 1,000 miles puts your testsite somewhere within europe, or on top of some of the inhabited Mediterranean Islands

To agree with Jared and TPM, a nuclear weapon detonated 1,000 miles from any point in Algeria is either going to hit land or somebody's territorial waters.

Nuclear tests usually are conducted for political significance, not to actually test a warhead these days, which is the reasoning because the NK situation. It's their way of saying "Lookit what we got!" more than it is "Let's see if it works right!"

And North Korea has been likely been pumping tons of resources into this nuke (should it exist), as it takes a decent scientific base to enrich enough material for the two to three fuctioning nuclear weapons they are rumored to possess.

Well, if he tested it as an airburst, there shouldn't be that much long term determental effect on the surrounding ocean, although any surface or aerial life (including ships) will have quite a bad day. However, a ground (sea) burst will send lots and lots of fallout into the atmosphere, and given the closed nature of the Medi. and its proximity to land, it's likely to affect people in the area. If I recall, ViZion, Kahanistan, Kraven Whyatica, MassPwnage and Doomingsland are all located on or near the Medi.

What on earth were you thinking? Did you even take into consideration that perhaps a cruise liner might pass through the area where the test was performed? Or perhaps the test took place over an important fishing area. You may have ruined the livelihoods of several fisherman!

Why did the test have to take place in the Mediterranean? Your territory in Algeria would have sufficed. After all, the area is just hundreds of square miles of empty, uninhabited, untraversed, desert. You could have simply glassed a small area of desert, and nobody would have been effected.

But no. You made a big mistake. Because of your actions today, there will be major economic rammifications. Tankers and Shipping vessels will have to adjust their courses to avoid the radiation. Cruiseliners throughout the Mediterranean will fail because the civilians are afraid of catching cancer and dying.

Their fears may be false and even irrational, but the fact remains that you have greatly unnerved them, and because of that, they will not feed the Mediterranean Economy if they feel that they aren't safe.

And don't forget the political rammifications. You tested this weapon hundreds of miles away from your territory, which means that it probably took place near someone else's territory. And it will probably be their people and their economy that suffers. They will be the ones clamoring for revenge against you when things start going sour.

But it's too late to turn back time now. You have made your bed. Now you must lay in it.

OOC: This thread wasn't very well thought out, and should be ignored. I don't want to tell people what to do, but we are supposed to be role-playing nations. Nations (Hataria) don't do things like test nuclear weapons in populated areas for shits and giggles, and other nations (Icovir) wouldn't think that was swell if it did happen. It is ludicrous to say otherwise. This thread should be stickied as an example of a bad thread.

Even though it didn't happen in this thread, I should also mention threads where nations advertise they want to buy WMD's as being bad. Typically, some nation, who nobody has heard of, makes a post along these lines:

Inevitably, a nation or two will respond by talking about how awesome their nukes are, and offer to sell the batshit crazy nation a few of them. I must confess that I agree with you completely.

A thermonuclear test in the Mediterranean (a relatively small body of water practically littered with islands, scores of merchant vessels of all types, and naval warships from dozens of different nations - not to mention surrounded by on all sides by foreign countries), would be unthinkable by any sane nation.

It would also draw an immediate and devastating political, economic, and (quite likely) military reaction from all neighbouring sovereign states.

The Imperial Realm of Axis Nova, while censuring Hataria for it's poor choice of test locations, strongly advises other nations against any hasty measures.

If I recall, ViZion, Kahanistan, Kraven Whyatica, MassPwnage and Doomingsland are all located on or near the Medi.

Which means Hataria's just pissed off a LOAD of nations that hate each other, and which will promptly smack down Hataria... as soon as we figure out how much of our territory was damaged.

If there's any lesson to be learned from WWII, do not piss off two nations that hate each other. Hitler decided to mess with the Soviet Union while he was already bogged down dealing with Britain, France, and Poland (the fact that the latter two were occupied did not hinder them from bogging down German troops fighting the resistance.) Germany ended up being carved up by the victors.

Hell, if we were really having one person only for each real life territory, Hataria would have had to fight me for algeria, as its considered a protected state by chellis(former colony, whom we roleplay as independant now but chellian protected from other colonizers). 0940- Union city, President Bastidas sat in his chair looking at the gleaming oak double door , his eyes panned the material as his mind thought and raced upon the current situation with the nuclear weapons test, he sighed his hands resting on the regal wooden desk, where a plastic lined red phone lay un disturbed for nearly three days, it had been three days since the nuclear test, no answer was give and no furtherance of testing had begun, his mind raced on ideas of what could be happing , his hands and fingers started to tap on the green mat that upholstered the oak table. Suddenly a knock on the double doors rang through the room, it was early morning the sun had barely begun to shine an hour earlier. Robert looked up and said with a some what pondering voice “Come in”his voice rang through the quiet room, breaking the sudden silence after the knock.

The task force had about twelve ships and eight subs assigned to it, it was medium sized but well armed and well protected with a super carrier and three smaller ones, and a few other heavy and light ships.

Our government has tested many nuclear devices before, we have never had condemnation and we wonder why so many rush to critise the Haterians? The threats of invasion, military bombing and sanctions are very odd for just such a simple weapon test, its not like they killed thousands of people in a small tribal region or Hataria has invaded small nations.

"News that doesn't matter, three days late!"

EARLIER TODAY, Chinese citizens reported unusual sightings of a strange, three-hundred-foot tall reptile stomping around in downtown Beijing.

The creature is stated to be "big, green, glowing in the dark and extremely angry". According to eye-witnesses, the creature first appeared on the beaches near the South China Sea, where it proceeded to eat several tourists, relieve itself onto a beach hut, and then it made its way inland. It stopped only for a quick McDonalds 'meal' on the way.

Chinese military officials have failed to locate the creature which is presently stamping on the Chinese capitol building. They claim that a poor supply of beef and a "very small pay slip" is hindering their troops' vision. Tactical experts have said that even if they could see the enormous, unmissable creature, a lack of training means they wouldn't be able to hit it, and a lack of firearms means they wouldn't be able to try anyway, so the situation is "academic at best".

Either way, citizens are being advised to stay indoors where the collapsing buildings will protect them from harm, and to avoid McDonalds restaurants and nuclear bombs at all costs.

Robert looked upon the messages on his phone, his hand gently gilding over the material of the upholstery, his mind some what at ease unknowing of the situation unfolding in the Mediterranean and the south china sea, he panned over the blinking light yawning slightly, his mind and eyes shifted suddenly his eyes went wide with surprise his hands gripping the green material, he quickly and swiftly moved his hand to grip the phone picked it up put it to his smooth face and supple lips and to his ear, quickly he started to dial his finger pressing on several buttons and the conference call. He waited his mind on utter edge; suddenly on one of the oak walls a panel opens its slight mechanical noises, the panel opened to a rather large crystal clear plasma screen TV. Several advisors and the Joint Chiefs of Staff looked upon the oval office, most where old wrinkled veterans of war and the military. There eyes panned and looked at president Bastidas, the president sighed a breath of utter frustration, he started to speak his voice filled with frustration.

”Right as you all know Hataria has just tested another nuclear weapon in the south china sea and is now refusing to abide by the deadline, so …” he was suddenly cut off by his secretary of state Maria Tompkins, she started to speak hastily in a rather professional voice ”Sir, our latest reports indicate that over 2400 United States citizens have been killed, several aircraft have been damaged and destroyed and several ships have gone missing in the area”

Robert slammed the desk his fist pounded on the material, he started to speak in a rough coarse voice ”Bester I want you to order mobilization of naval forces to Algeria, and I want a blockade of Hatarian trade affective immediately, get as many ships as you need out there, I want a flock of our birds up there ASAP to take out Algerians air fields, I want a military mobilization made happen yester day, they are not going to walk allover us like where nothing”

Robert started to open a drawer, it slid open with a wood *clunk swoosh* sound he started to dig in there sounds of objects colliding and clanking on a glass bottle could be heard, he took it out and closed the drawer with the same noise, he tapped it on the upholstery and un quirked it with a *Bonk* noise, from there he took a glass and poured a supple some what brownish clear liquid in to a crystal glass, his mind was in turmoil about what to do, he did not want this conflict to go nuclear. ”What the hells going on? What’s with the sudden deployment man?”” noises in the background got louder as this was repeated throughout the base and others started marching out. ”How the hell should I Know? There has to be a good reason this is a crazy ass world dude..” a lowly privet spoke in a rather frustrated voice ”This is FUBAR man I was scheduled to go on leave today , damn some thing always screws it up”… Troops begun to form up in to lines walking in to the armory picking up M-8 assault rifles side arms body amour the works they shuffled slowly out in to formation in an afternoon sun. This was repeated in many bases around the union especially on the eastern seaboard , Liberty city naval base started to mobilize several fleets stationed there, and others around the world..

The admiral rushed up on deck and sighed looking at the report his eyes gazed rather knowingly out to sea ”Son, Sound general quarters, these god dammed nuts pulled another trick out of there ass, get us in range and prepare strike craft, I want the rest of the fleet to star bombarding the Algerian coast in cruise missiles”

The first officer nodded adding quickly ”Sir satellite images reveal that they seem to be mobilizing forces , in certain positions, they expected this, might I recommend firing at those positions to soften them up for ground troops?”
”Might as well no use in wasting good missiles on buildings when aircraft and other ships can do that, but lets take out those radar and AA guns”


The fleet started to sail towards the Algerian coast quicker and quicker there propellers revering the sea behind them as they rushed forth like massive deliveries of justice, there grey painted metallic hulls gleamed in the setting sun, technicians worked diligently to equip F-35 lightings and modified F-117’s for strike fighter roles. The fleet got ever closer orders from the admiral came down the ships in front of the carrier’s cam to a stop suddenly with a few moments of dead silence in the ever dimming light of the sun *swoosh crackle* was heard rapidly all thorough the fleet , dozens upon dozens of hyper sonic cruise missiles, rained forth from destroyers and cruisers, targeting mobilization points and anti aircraft batteries, advanced gun system turrets moved round with mechanical clicking noises, and a barrage of rocket assist shells flew from them in a steady motion, SLB from Ohio trident three subs burst from the darkening sea, the orange fiery glow following there exit, marked there deadliness, they guided up and up and up then turned heading towards land, hundreds of these where lunched in barrages upon barrages, the noise of combat filled the area the smell of smoke filling ships as missiles rocketed and roared over head like deadly brim stones.

Several fleets where already heading towards Hataria and Algeria. Troops and other aircraft had also been deployed, all meant on blockading and preparing an invasion force for landing.
