There were multiple companies, 20,000 strong in the surronding mountains, at the back of the army were 20 mobile missile trucks and a division of 50 of Custardian M4s. There were Custardian bombers wheeling overhead, along with a ssquadron of markIIX fighters. A jeep company, including sgt Cruft, the armys commander were ready and waiting in the civilian settlement. Snipers are also garrisoned in the larger buildings of the settlement.

Kaptain Vaught stood on the back of his mighty T-80 tank. Brought from the Soviets at a low price, along with the rest of his force. His tank was followed by a squad of T-62s and a squad of mechanised infantry. Around him, infantry were scuttling into position, Setting up heavy weapons and sandbags. Even with these men, the force looked puny. But the Kaptain was not worried as he watched his tanks load up, because he had an ace up his sleeve...

Now the missile trucks were ready to fire, as soon as the command came, missiles roared through the sky, tearing towards the enemy tanks.

A payload of high speed destruction rained on the tanks. One was flipped clean on its back, before being crushed by its own weight. Another's turret was blown away. Kaptain Vaught's own tank withstood the blast whilst he rallied the troops. As one the Heavy weapons fired towards the buildings of the village. Some of the smaller buildings were destroyed under the onslaught, Custurdian corpses being strewn across the snow. The Kaptain smiled to himself. But the time was still not right...

the snipers picked targets among the infantry, from the church spire, their scopes gave a crystal-clear view of the foot-sloggers. One young sniper spotted a particularly formidable tank with an important looking figure at the head, he had been told pre-battle that tanks would play an important part in the Shargotten battle plan, so he fired...

The Kaptain saw His men being picked off left, right and center. A bullet glanced into his hand and he shouted out. He knew the time was right. He ducked into the tank hatch and nodded to his comms man, Ubel. Ubel nodded and began speaking into the transmitter. Vaught smiled to himself. ETA 1 minute...

Cruft crawled out of the remains of his jeep, he seemed to be the only suvivor of the rocket onslaught. He reached for his comms man`s remains, he took the radio and shouted into it: "march the infantry forward!"

Vaught Laughed at the snipers and infantry in their buildings. " Let them hide." he thought. As if on cue, a stolen Jet fighter roared overhead, releasing twin napalm bombs over the village. The sky was lit up as every building in the village was set ablaze. Screams and crackling flames acommpained the veiw. Vaught Stood. "TANKS, ONWARD!"

Cruft watched the inferno, he had to free his leg from the wreckage if he wanted to escape the blaze. He looked up and saw the burning corpse of a sniper tumbled from the spire. The Sergeant freed his leg and ran through a gap in the flames.
The infantry charged towards the enemy foot troops whilst firing rifle shots. If it had not been for the iron will of the Sharfghotten people, they surely would have fled. as the Custardian men engaged the enemy, rifle butts collided with heads and bayonnets punched through spleens, blood gushed and screams rang through the ranks.

As the battle on the ice river raged on, Vaught was guiding the remnants of his tank squad to the burning village. They took up positions, and made room for the infantry following to set up a flak gun, with a direct veiw towards the ice river. "Fire." said Vaught.
"sir? that will wipe out us as well." questioned the Flak gunner. Vaught pulled out his Beretta and shot the man in the head. As the Rest of the crew cleared away the body, Vaught brandished his pistol in the air and repeated "Fire!".

The flak gun hit its target and a huge slab of the ice river shattered drowning all the screaming infantry.
Cruft saw the back of the tank squad. From the largest tank a formiddable figure, clearly the infamous kaptain Vaught. "die, b#*£h." whisperd Cruft as he fired at the Kaptain, who, amazingly, ducked and avoided the shot. The kaptain spun round and beretta shots rained down on Cruft, Cruft fired back and rolled towards the T-80, he climbed up and Vaught swung an inacurate pistol butt, to which Cruft replied with his own pistol butt, cracking Vaughts nose. blood streamed, but the hand-to-hand continued.

The Tank crews were powerless to do anything, so turned towards the Custurdian missile trucks. Tank shells smashed through the thin armour. One hit the missile, creating a chain explosion along the ranks. The flak gun, Nearly devoid of targets, was laid to rest as the crew spun around and pointed their Kalashnikovs at the battle raging on top of the T-80. Vaught drove his pistol end into Cruft's stomach, winding him and rolling him off of the turret. The Flak crew pointed their rifles at him and snatched up his gun, but Vaught stopped them with a wave of his hand. "let me." He climbed into his tank, slammed the hatch and revved the engine. The tracks began to turn.

Cruft looked up at his oncoming death he was imobile due to being winded, he muttered painfully the Custardian last rights, and then saw the angels of his survival, fighters careered over the tanks and released a salvo of gunfire, temporarily distracting the kaptain, Cruft had by now recovered and rolledto one side, he ran, he ran as fast as he could as bombers joined their fighter team mates. The tanks exploded one by one, proud, iron monsters reduced to scrap metal. Cruft couldnt be sure if Vaught had suffered as much as he deserved, or even if he had suffered at all...

The Flak gun lay on it's side. Vaught's eyes lit up as he saw his Steel legion in flames, his proud tank crews vaporised by the bombing. He picked up an Ak, fixed the bayonet, and stood up. He then fell down again. Looking down, he lowered his hand and dislodged a peice of shrapnel from his calf. He limped through the footprints left by his nemesis. in the distance, he saw a collapsed figure. He straightened his cap, rose the sight to his hand and moved forwards...

Cruft struggled to his feet and kicked half a barrel off himself. AK shots flew over his shoulder, he spun round and lifted his machette, only now did he realise that there was blood leaking from a deep impact wound on his upper arm. Still, he dived forward at his enemy, his machette clashed with an AK bayonette, he swung again and smashed the kaptains weapon from his hand, but the kaptain used his fists instead.

Vaught was thrown to the floor. He glanced again at the flaming tanks, the infantry corpses, and saw visions of defeat. M4 tanks crushed final resistance. Vaught was the only one left. He ppushed himself to his feet and kicked the AK at Cruft. The Bayonet peirced his stomach. He fell to the ground, his eyes glazed over, pointing at the Custurdian fighters screaming towards Vaught.

The squadron commander looked down at his fallen leader, a tear welled up in his eye as he said into his comms link: "fire".
he sniffed as he made Cruft's last wish a reality.
