Nationalist Government Siezes Power in Bloodless Coup.
Elections To Be Held Monday.

JOKOYO, Zumorito. Just a few hours ago, the Nationalist movement, which has remained underground since before the fall of the Kang Dynasty, seized control of Zumorito and set up a new provisional government in the Imperial Palace.
The estimated 500 police officers and Imperial Guards in and around the palace were no match for the 100,000 or so heavily armed Zumoritian soldiers and laid down their weapons and allowed the leaders from the Nationalist party to occupy the Imperial Palace without incident. Emperor Zumorito was not in the Imperial Palace at the time and his current whereabouts are unknown. Several dozen palace workers and officials were taken into custody for questioning following the seizure of the palace.

Elections will be held this Monday in or around all schools, parks, and hospitals. Security will be tight and the fingerprints of all voters will be recorded digitally during the voter registration which will take place the day of the election. All businesses and government services that are not essential are required to be closed.
Remember it is not just your right to vote, it is your duty!

The Zumoritian Defense Forces shall immediately size control of all mining operations, trout farms, arms manufacturing companies, retail, and book publishing businesses. Effective on October 27, 2006, under article 4 of the new constitution which was just ratified, martial law will come into effect throughout the nation. A dusk to dawn curfew shall be enforced until the end of the year, all foreign nationals shall be required to leave the country by midnight October 28th or be forcibly deported. All foreign assets must be liquidated by that time or face government seizure. This includes all embassies, travel agencies, cruise, and air liner companies. All future foreign trade shall be confined to the port city of Kagakia and will be strictly regulated. Also the local Kagakia government shall be abolished and ownership of all docks, shipyards, warehouses and railways in the area shall be transferred to the state. Those that help in the restoration shall be greatly rewarded in the near future. Those that oppose us shall be eliminated."

Clandonia is concerned of the damage that could be done to the Zumoritoian economy if they take control of private enterprise. We belive in free market economics, it is advisable that any government does not want to wish to damage their economy which could lead to decreased spending on armed forces and law an order degenerating the state into a anarchists and communists dream of revolt and revolution.

The United States of Novus-America looks upon the rise of Nationalism in Zumorito with worried eyes, fearful that its government will seek war with it. Nevertheless, an ambassador is sent to Zumorito, following Novus-America's principle of, "friendship to all, preference to none."

Combined Zumoritan Heavy Industries INC. Stands Alone Against Lokio's New Policies
Army Threatens To Storm ZHI Compound.

KAGAKIA, Zumorito. The leading arms manufacturing corporation in Zumorito said today through a press release that they would not give up control of their multi-billion dollar facility situated at the southern tip of Kagakian Bay. The second largest free-standing structure in the country (the first being the Imperial Palace), ZHI Headquarters holds over 500,000 employees. Most of the scientists, engineers, and executives live within the compound which features state of the art laboratories, testing and production facilities. In an impromptu interview hours before the official statement, a spokesman revealed that ZHI is willing to support the new regime's goals , but only if it is allowed to maintain its present level of autonomy. Gen-sui Lokio announced over the phone that there would be no exceptions to his new hard line policies and that ZHI must relinquish control of all of its assets by October 27 of this year. almost 1500 troops have been stationed in Kagakia already, with an expected 20,000 due to arrive by train before sundown. ZHI Headquarters has apparently been undergoing an evacuation since Lokio made his address to the nation. The scene of helicopters flying back and forth between ZHI HQ and some unknown destination in the Pacific, is being repeated at embassies and consulates in Jokoyo. The International Airport and all major ports have been deluged with thousands, if not millions of people in the last few hours. More on this story as it develops.

Fake video tape of Emperor Zumorito surfaces
Top analysts confirm tape is phony

JOKOYO, Zumorito. In the tape the "Emperor" claims that Lokio Dirota is in fact the leader of the infamous Lokio crime family and has manufactured an elaborate campaign of lies and propaganda to advance his insane ideas. The Emperor calls on all of the true Samurais to rise up and overthrow the "evil Lokio crime syndicate" and restore the "order of our anscestors". The tape also goes on to claim that there was no election and that Gen-sui Lokio Dirota is nothing more than an illegitiamte dictator. The tape has been confirmed to be nothing more than a stringing together of old audio and video footage of the Emperor before he was deposed. The almost seamless blending of clips is a result of advanced "Hollywood" style CGI technology. Imperial loyalist aristocrats are blamed for sponsoring the fabrication and citizens have been warned to avoid this piece of propaganda.

Chancellor linwood was having a wonderful dream. Scnatly clad women, drinks, private boat...the whole bit...until the phone went off. He got up and groggally fumbled around until he grabbed hold of the phone.

"Hello?"

He said as he turned on the light.

"Is this Chancellor Lin-" the caller asked, being cut off by him.

"Yes, yes it is, you damn near woke my wife, so this had better be good. "

He said, walking into annother room, the phone was cordless.

"Well sir, it is. The Combined Zumoritan Heavy Industries inc. is under seroius threat. " he said, with a worried tone.

This was bad news. The Big Business in Coronisa was not pleased at this, and a number of companies depended upon that company for parts, and services. The worst part was that big business practcally ran Coronisa, and after the ATCO fiasco, Linwood was not looking good for popularity. He would have to make a statement, and it would have to be what the companies wanted, and that was for Combined Zumoritan Heavy Industries INC. to survive, at least until the next fiscal year so that they could reloacate manufacturing. He sat down at his desk and rubbed his temple.

"Allright,what did Marquis have to say about this?" he asked.

"Well, he recomended that we offically state our position, and try to negoitate." the caller responded.

"Well we can't do anything other than that, not without the backing of the United Nations or something. There is no way we could even evacuate the employees, let alone safeguard the facility...Ok...Here's what we'll do. Get Marquis on the phone, and you tell him to talk to the Security Council. They are probably in session because of the Brittian fiasco thats going on. I'll talk to Zumorito, see if I can calm them down a bit mabye. Call me when you get anyting. "

He hung up, and put the phone down on his desk, rubbing his face with his hands. It was going to be a long week. He looked at the clock...it read 2 am. Isaac turned on his PC, and started to write a letter to the Zumorito head of state. Gen-sui Lokio Dirota.

A number of the Mutlinationals who have large stakes rely on Combined Zumoritan Heavy Industries INC. for parts and services. Ranging from machining to ship building. These companies have a direct link to my nations well being. They are an integral part of everyday life here, employing just over 4 million, of the 9 million living here. Needless to say, if they suffer, we do to. If Combined Zumoritan Heavy Industries INC. was to be forced to close, hundreds of thousands of innocent Coronisians would be laid off, and that is just the local reprocussions.

What I am preposing is that we come to the negotating table and talk about how to deal with the issue at hand. I fully respect your nations rights and sovreignty, but production at Combined Zumoritan Heavy Industries INC. cannot be interrupted and its assets ceased, not at least until I have at least tried to secure the well being of both out nations. All I ask for is you to grant Combined Zumoritan Heavy Industries INC. 1 year to comply, so that the large companies can move production and unfinished products to other countries.

I understand that you want to take an isolationist standpoint, and from what your Emperor did, I can understand that. But there are more than just your nations people at stake here. My 9 000 000 may seem insignificant beside your .8 billion, but they are going to be greatly effected if you close down Combined Zumoritan Heavy Industries INC.

We are disturbed again deeply by the stance your newly "elected" leader has taken against foreign nations, corporations and their citizens. Furthermore, the current location and disposition of your former leader remains a mystery and until it is solved, we shall not recognize the new Nationalist regime as the rightful rulers of Zumorito.
In accordance with the agreement signed by Emperor Zumorito in May 2006, our embassy in Jokoyo shall remain a sovereign part of The Superpower of The Phoenix Milita for 10 years and as sovereign territory, shall remain untouched by any and all military forces and the Militant citizens shall be allowed to live in our sovereign territory.
Violation of our agreements with your nation shall result in the seizure of all Zumoritan assets located on the Isle of Na Pali, the deportation of all of your diplomats in Phoenix, Arizona and the dismantlement of your consulate. In addition we shall impose economic embargo upon your nation. If you attempt to seize property owned by the government of The Phoenix Milita, or Phoenix Dynamix INC. you will be commiting an international crime and will face resistance from our military forces. ZHI Launches Strike Against Jokoyo
Hundreds of innocent civilians die in bombing

JOKOYO, Zumorito. Cruise missiles and high-altitude bombers rained destruction upon the unsuspecting citizens of Jokoyo today, after the negotiations between the hold out muti-national conglomerate and the new government reached a stalemate late last night. Despite ZHI's claim that only government and military buildings were targeted, the government released casualty reports putting the casualty figures in the high hundreds. Gen-sui Lokio denied claims that Zumorition soldiers fired mortars into ZHI HQ hours after the negotiations broke off, spurring the bombing raid. More to come as this story develops.

Deep within the secret chambers of the Imperial Palace.
Gen-sui Lokio paced back and forth in his "War Room", once the massive office of the emperors secretary, there were now radar displays, maps, radios, and half a dozen technicians milling about. Finnaly one of the dozen phones rang.

"This is Lokio, give me your status" he said expecting a report from his top general in Kagakia

"We have completed deploying our soldiers and our perimeter is secure. Tanks are being moved into position now." General Saraksoto reported

"Well then, send in the troops, what are you waiting for?" the puzzled Gen-sui Lokio asked.

"Sir, although we outnumber the defenders of ZHI Headquarters 5 to 1, they are significantly better equipped and trained, and the fortifications within the HQ building are quite impressive.. perhaps we could simply maintain a perimeter around them until they give up... they can't hold out together.. If I order the assault now, we may lose thousand..." Saraksoto tried to answer before being cut off.


"Will be immortalized as national heroes!" Lokio interjected.
"Give the order, I want that complex in ashes by sunrise!" he finished before hanging up.


Just as he turned to retire into the plush leather chair of the emperor, in the adjoining room, an aide rushed up to him with a small slip of yellow paper.

The Gen-sui read from it for a moment, and then crumpled it in his hand before returning to his phones.

"Get me the commander of the Republican Guard"

"Yes, Gen-sui, how may I serve?" the commander answered nervousliy

"How much longer will it take for your forces to get into position around the remaining embassies?" Lokio asked.

"We are in position already sir, but we have seen quite an increase in men and firepower on and around the walls of the Phoenix Militain embassy. Have you heard the threats they have made against us, that is if we go through with our plan to evict them?" the commander asked, hoping the Gen-sui simply missed the proclamation by The Phoenix Milita that was aired on the news several hours ago.

"I am well aware of their threats... I don't think they have the capacity to defend their puny embassy against a full strike or the stomach for a prolonged blockade or embargo" Lokio said confidently.

"But Sir..." the commander moaned

"Storm the embassy, I want hostages." he ordered before slamming the phone down.

Lokio Won't bow to TPM Demands

PACIFIC OCEAN, Zumorito. Gen-sui Lokio has been slow to respond officially to diplomatic communications from other nations of the world, but unofficially his response is clear: NO. Thousands of troops have surrounded the embassy of the Phoenix Milita, just as ZHI Headquarters in Kagakia has been surrounded. cordoned off the downtown area of Jokoyo as more and more troops are moving into the area around the embassy. Meanwhile, in Kagakia, the army has gone house to house and forced all civilians to leave the city. I myself was lucky enough to find my way out of town on board a ZHI vessel, and my current whereabouts are classified, but hundreds of people were forced to march many miles out of the city. There are unconfirmed reports of bridges being demolished by Republican forces. By the way, I have been fired from the Zumorito Sun for "traitorous and slanderous statements" but I will continue to report via the online newspaper: "Independent Chronicle"

Darvainia will not look the other way on this issue anymore. Nationalization of your nations industries is nothing short of communist policy and we will not allow. Therefore we are sending 2000 men armed with AK47 assault rifles, 300armed with rpg-7vs, and 1000 howister tanks, and 100 challenger2 tanks to your headquarters immediately to assist you in your defense against your nation's oppressive regime. We have also dispatched an elite unit of sharp-shooting snipers to defend the perimeter of the headquarters. Just give us the word and we will move in immediately.

General Saraksoto surveyed the scene through his binoculars. From the 58th floor of the Zumoritan International Bank, he could see the entire downtown area, and look right over the Phoenix Militan embassy walls.

Linwood sat at his desk in the Coronisian Capital. His country was teetering on the brink of a complete economic breakdown if Zurimoto was not stopped. He sat there reading recomendation after recomendation, waiting for the Senate to vote on sending troops to assist The Combined Zumoritan Heavy Industries inc. building. But, he realized, this would probably last a grand total of a week, and the Coronisian forces would arrive to late to do anything serious. There was a knock at the door.

"Come in." he said, looking up from his paper.

"Morning sir." said his secretary, putting an envlope on his desk. The senate had voted, and he had to approve the vote, then it would be done. He opened it, and looked at the numbers. 172 to 127 aganst. He could shoot down the vote, and just go ahead with things anyways. But, members of his own party had voted aganst, and a number of them had called and told him that the party was on thin Ice with the public. Linwood was not about to commit political suacide, so he signed the vote. It was final, they were not going to send forces to aid The Combined Zumoritan Heavy Industries inc. Unless things got seriously bad seriously fast, Coronisia was going to stay out of this one.

Massive Protests After Lokio Assaults TPM Embassy
TPM Forces Remain Under Siege

KAGAKIA, Zumorito. In direct violation of international treaties and law, Gen-sui Lokio ordered a brutal assault on the Phoenix Milita compound in Jokoyo killing dozens. Effective air cover was able to fend off most of the attacks but Lokio's forces remain entrenched in the city and are now displacing citizens and taking over civilian property and assets. These actions have sparked massive protests both in Jokoyo and here in Kagakia. ZHI was able to fend off a large scale assault and forced all Zumoritan regular soldiers to surrender. The Zumoritan force was unable to carry out its assault with the large scale and sometimes violent nature of the protests, and ZHI was able to quickly assassinate the military leadership of the enemy. The following is a speech by Field Marshall Maximus Seville II, made in Latin, translated by analysts into Japinglish for video broadcast to the Zumoritan people and then retranslated into English for the international community.

"Your crazy leader has lost his senses, he has broken the sacred laws of diplomacy by setting us up the bomb onto our sovereign ambassador's soil.
We shall now bring the full force of our military upon you. You have no chance to survive, make your time. (He turns to a high ranking naval official who is sitting in front of a communications console and says:) "Take off every AV-28 Wraith!" The entire 1st fleet, under personal command of Fleet Admiral David Vrelck, began a massive coordinated attack sequence. Cruise missile strikes and navy aircraft coordinated with long range air force bombers that were just arriving overhead. As soon as the broadcast of the speech had been forcibly displayed on every function television set in the nation, anti- radiation missiles and EMP bombs were deployed to disable satellite, radio and television communications within the capital and elsewhere. Soon an entire division of marines and paratroopers would land and fight their way to the embattled embassy, to relive the defenders, if there were any left that is.

The attacks were devastating and the army was broken within hours. After the first, full force attack which immediately followed the speech, the sight of marines approaching the shores of Zumorito in landing craft inspired a massive retreat into the country side
While Zumortian fighters are very brave, they are not very stupid and knew full well if the Emperor still lived, then it would only be a matter of time before Lokio's head would be on a stake... If not then it was best to let the invaders take the indefensible city, since holding it would be nearly impossible for the foreign invaders.



24 hours later, a new sun rises over Zumorito... but will a new day dawn?
