The Conquest of Nuk
The Aeson

It started innocently enough, with the Lady Freya. A small sailing boat, of all things, worked by a modest crew, of the Sailers of New Aeson Society, got caught in a storm. After three days, during which they lost a fair amount of the crew, and all of their long range communication equipment, they landed on Nuk.
They were there for three days, during which they encountered no one, before setting out again. Eventually they returned to New Aeson, where they told their story in the first bar they could find. Almost immediately, rumors started spreading, and Johnny Hawk (a notorious member of the 'import/export business') set out with a crew of ruffians to see the sights.
Navigating based on the star patterns observed by the crew during their stay, the Loki Gunnarson landed on the southern tip of the isle of Coonta. There they encountered a small village. Johnny Hawk, who had had a very good year, had supplied his crew with the latest in trickle down military technology.
The villagers were armed with much less effective weaponry. Johnny Hawk, fancying himself a brave conqueror and explorer, quickly severed the village's contact with the outside world, and declared himself ruler, with only a few casualties among his men. Meanwhile, the rumors kept spreading...
***
Hawk laughed. Life was good. The Nuk, as they called themselves, didn't dare refuse him anything, and he and his men were living off the fat of the land, and the toil of the natives.
The natives themselves were dusky in skin, dark in hair, and slender in build. The women were quite a sight. The latest fashion seemed to be the miniskirt, to the lasting regret of more than one woman who had caught a crewman's eye.
There was a commotion from outside the manor house Hawk had comandeered. Hawk drew a pistol from his boot, and went outside. A large truck, belching fumes, had stopped at one of the roadblocks, and natives were gathering about, urging them to flee and bring help.
Hawk fired a shot into the air, immediately silencing everybody. He gestured the driver to get out of the truck. He complied, and Hawk smiled, reassuringly. The driver was a big man, with a gun on his hip. Johnny glanced about and sighted Gunn. Gunn had a flair for languages, and was the best translator Johnny had.
"Tell him to put the gun on the ground."
Gunn relayed the message, and the big man complied. Johnny nodded. "Ask him who he is. That looks like some sort of uniform."
The jabbered in the clicking sounding language for a moment, and Gunn said, "He says he's the tribute collector."
Johnny laughed out loud. "Well tell him that I'm the only one collecting tribute here, now. Also tell him that he's my guest for the duration."
Gunn relayed the message again. Johnny, still chuckling, went back to his room.

The small Maldorian convoy made up of 3 frigates and 1 supply ship were sent to Galmiria in order to relieve a little pressure in the ocean waters and pick up and wounded Maldorians. That was until they were hit by a storm. Heavy gusts and harsh rain caused the fleet to stop at the closest area.
"Men, we're landing over there," yelled an Officer over the roars of thunder. Forced to land, the Maldorains sped towards the "uninhabited" island and waited out the storm.

As rumors began to spread, the Errikan lusts for land and resources took over. Errikan merchants hungered for new products and markets, Errikan Industrialists hungered for new resources and labor, Errikan Missionaries hungered for new converts, and the Errikan Military hungered for a chance to flex its muscles once more.
And here was a feast.

A Jaredcohenian whaling vessel, the Blue Skate, was hit by a storm enroute to Jaredcohenian Arterus.
The men were armed, lightly. A couple of AKs and a few pistols, if you can call that lightly...they were incase a whale went crazy, or in case there was a rebellion in Jaredcohenian Arterus. There was always a rebellion or two in Jaredcohenian Arterus. Honestly, who would've thought that natives would reject to military bases on their homeland?
"Mayday, mayday...this is the Blue Skate, does anyone read?" The captain of the vessel said
"Dude, it's not May Day...it's like November." noted the first mate, the captain eyed him.
"Maybe that's Arterus..." The boat saw an island.
"I see no military control or anything remotely similar to a skyscraper..."
"Maybe we're in South Arterus..."
"If we were, then, Captain, we'd be contacting someone on the radio."
"Shut up, damnit!"
The boat landed on the island, the southern tip of the island they were unclear was Mefeka. They would be the first of the numerous Jaredcohenians to settle on this island.
Unbeknownst to them, to the north were hoards of natives.
It would take some hours for the Blue Skate's radio to finally work. They picked up the signal of a shrimping boat, dubbed the Jenny. The Jenny would contact the Bureau of Marine Life, who would send out ships towards the southern tip of Mefeka.
And so the birth of the trading colony of Baskinsgrand occured.
The Blue Skate's captain looked at the land, a deep forest. "Ya think anyone lives here?"
"In the middle of nowhere I say..."
(OOC: just to let you know, I plan on having natives attack the city in a little bit >_> just starting my initial settling.

The 600 enlisted men and 60 officers poured out of the 3 frigates and stumbled onto land. Little they did know that natives inhabited the island.
"Alright men. Go on patrolling parties to look for any sight of habitation . You 5 men check the radio and try to contact any boat or station.
"Sir, yes, sir!" came the reply.
Each patrol, made up of 10 men and one jeep were off in different directions. Some would come back with amazing news, others wouldn't return...

"It has been too long since we had a large scale operation," Colonel Roberts said from the command deck of the battleship, "The Empire is at last acting like an empire again."
"Sir," a voice cracked out a com.
"Yes, Commander?"
"Our forces have landed without resistance, and have proceeded to comb the region."
"Excellent. Tell them to be on the lookout, and not to engage unless necessary. We would like to start off on good terms with some of the natives this time."
"Yes, sir."
The Colonel stepped out of the command deck into the open air, where he was greeted by landing officials.
"I shall be landing as soon as possible," he said, "I prefer a hands on approach. We need to stabilize our area fairly quickly, as I can only resist the pressure from missionaries and settlers for so long."

@Maldorians: Lilala was out for a stroll along the beach when she saw the ships land. Curiously, but also somewhat cautiously, she approached. Seeing a group of men in what resembled uniforms, she approached somewhat more boldly. After all, what had she to fear from the government.
(OOC: Please note, the following is in Nukian, and as such, you wouldn't be able to understand it.)
"Can I help you, sirs?" She asked, noting for the first time that the men looked strange. Perhaps they were Coontans.

The GM-3 sattelite glided through space, its big lenses snapping pictures here and there, just doing its job, which was to search for new lands. Eventually it passed over a continent, an recently undiscovered continent. The analysts looking at the photo's noted the lack of REAL civilization and thought, 'How the hell did we miss that?'
A few days later, the 15th Dreadnought Group escorting ten transport flotilla's left port. She shrugged, smiled, and turned away. On an impulse she decided to go for a swim, pulled her shirt off, and dove into the water.
Let's see what the Coontans make of that, she thought. From everything she had heard, Coontans were, among their other oddities, particularly prudish.

A map of the entire region came in full view of the High Leader, Aimless von Strangaild. he and the council looked at it, interested in the new land that lay before them. A paticular part caught his eye. The desert region. It looked alot like what Zackaroth was. After a brief disscussion the council decided to take the land as it own.
After about 2 days of preping up the ships left Zackaroth in sail for Nuka. After a day or so the battleships arrived at the the desert region of Nuka. 300 hundred ZAckarothian soilders made land fall of the sandy beaches. Behind came manu suppliers it would take to surive this unforgiving sand filled land. They set up a small base of operations on the beach to keep incontact with the boats out at sea. Half the men spilt up into groups of twenty to explore this land.
General Thomas Miranda looked through his binoculars seeing nothing but a sea of sand as he ride with his twenty man group. It had been awhile since he was out on the field. " Nothing but more godamn sand out here. It's just like home just more empty. If anyone sees anything, no matter how unlikley it we will see something in this godamn sandbox, report it in. There's a city just North from the landing zone. It might take awhile but I want Squad A and B to check it out. Squad C and D explore the west while F and D explore the west. I am leading Squad A and B. If you find nothing after 24 hours head bnack to the landing zone. Over and out" he said putting the radio down.

The hunter glanced at the offering, shrugged, and took it. He deftly unwrapped, split it in half, and handed half to his comrade. They gobbled it down, and then the hunter reached into his pocket, and pulled out a small plastic bag. He opened it and produced a piece of jerky, which he presented to the sergeant.

Roskossovsky pondered for a moment as to how to respond, then he turned and yelled, in Russian, "Lieutenant-14428!"
One of the Meatpuppets froze, turned, and walked up to the Colonel, then snapped into a perfect military salute.
"At ease, remove your mask and helmet." The Colonel said.
The meatpuppet responded instantly, although his voice was a bit muffled by the gas mask.
"Yes sir."
The meatpuppet took off his helmet and then the gas mask, revealing a perfectly normal human face.

"An Army Group is being dispatched our sector under my direct command," Colonel Roberts reported to his officers upon entering the meeting thirty seconds late.
"Apparently the Emperor believes this sector to be very important," Christina Kisburg, who was actually a civilian, said.
"You can ask him when he arrives," Roberts responded, taking his seat.
"The Emperor is coming here?" asked one officer, voice filled with apprehension.
"Yes, and he is quite pleased with our apparent progress. Still, I would like to have more to show than this half finished fortification by the sea."
"We shall double our efforts!"
"That's what I like to hear," Roberts smiled, getting to his feet, "And this is by far the shortest meeting I have attended. You are all dismissed, and please inform everyone of our new found enthusiasm."

OOC: Errikland: You allow an Army Group to be put in command of a Major? Thats pretty twisted... unless your military system is organised differently.
Anyways, I do like the Star Wars: Episode 6 referrence.
IC: The Colonel shook his head a 'no', then, as if it was an afterthought, he turned to the Meatpuppet standing next to him, "Don your gear and return to work, Lieutenant."
"Yes, sir." The Meatpuppet put back on the gas mask and helmet and walked away. Anyone who got a good look at his face, however, would have noticed something. The face wore no expression, which was scary enough, but the eye's were blank, almost as if zoned out.
No sooner did the Lieutenant leave then did a Lieutenant-Colonel race up with a radio phone in his hands, quickly he handed it to the Colonel.
"Da?" The Colonel said into it.
"Comrade Colonel..." The voice of Field Marshal Militov Steponavich Murmansk was clear and crisp. The Colonel nearly gagged, Marshal Murmansk was the overall commander of the colonisation.
Holding up his pointer finger to the Mayor, indicating 'One Moment Please', the Colonel began to talk into his phone.
"Comrade Marshal... I am currently attempting communications with the areas settlements leader. What can I do for you."
"I am coming ashore, Colonel. I presume you have a spot for my helicopter to land?" The Marshal said.
"Yes sir." The colonel replied. A few moments more discussion, then he hung up.
Then the Colonel decided to try something new... sign language. He had learned it as his mother was dead. With his hands, he communicated:
'Can you understand this?'

He was a little scared to take the jerkey, thinking that it could be some sort of animal that had bacteria that could kill him. However, the natives had done the same. He bit into the jerkey, and thouge a bit tangy, he enjoyed it. Then he said " Do you speak english?"

Hutler and his men trudge threw the woods looking for any signs of life beside wild life. Meanwhile small non-combat scouting planes flew over head attempting to see anything from the sky. The group of five suddenly spotted a city in the west of the landing area. " This Hawk 1 reporting to ground base. We have found a city not far from your location. It doesn't look like it be much of a fight. It should take you about 3-4 hours to get there over" the pliot said to the ground forces.
" Understood. Ok men! We have about a four hour walk till we get some action. Try to keep up or you will find yourself feterlizer for this forest" he said starting to walk again his men following behind him cloesly knowing the man would keep his word.

" Shit. Are you sure? Postive? Ok then inform the home country. Don't do anything unless they make a move against us. Is that clear? Ok then. Over and out" General Miranda said sighing as he clicked off the radio. His group had set down a small camp to rest for awhile. Only A and B squads where left as all the rest found really nothing in this waste land of sand. All Miranda was that Von Strangaild was in the region somewhere and that the only city in miles was near.
He sat down by the gtroup of men talking and laughing. He took a sip of his water wondering what to do next. Of course the High Leader would claim this as his own land and small towns begin to pop up but for now this place was just so...boring. No natives, no hostiles. Just sand.

The four Dartan class Frigates plowed through the waves towards the island. At 1/2 km from the beach the inflatable boats were sent with the first 300 soldiers to claim an area of the island.
Walter Harris was the leader of the 300 marineslanded on the shores of the western side of the island to find the area deserted. He called for more to disembark and he sent the 300 soldiers to sweep the area.
"This will make an excellent base camp for the colony. Yes, and we detected oil out about 4 kilometers off shore. Perfect."

The days before the Nukian unification were not so far gone that the people had forgotten what that meant. Add that to the suddenly audible cries of Lilala, and the fact that these were hardened fronteir citizens, if hospitible, and you had the recipe for a horrible misunderstanding.
Guns appeared in the hands of the Nukians suddenly, and they were all pointed at the Maldorians setting up the flag.

The helicopter touched down on a pre-marked area, the Colonel lead the mayor over to it as the engine shut off. Clearly visible, slung under the small-stubby wings were 15.5mm heavy machine guns, there were also two gun ports with 15.5mm heavy machine guns sticking out of the sides of the helicopter. As the mayor passed each Meatpuppet, he would notice that they had M-100 Assualt Rifles strapped to their backs, a few of them even had them in their hands. The Mayor also would notice the Red Tidean Flag painted on the side of the helicopter.
A side door to the helicopter slid open and Field Marshal Murmansk stepped out. The Field Marshal did not wear a costume that different from a Colonel, but he was loaded down with medals.
Colonel Roskossovsky walked up to the Field Marshal and saluted.
"Field Marshal Murmansk," The Colonel said in Russian, "This is Mayor..." A pause as the Colonel recalled the Nukians name, "Mithoa Halio Nekrethoth."

sort of SIC:
This day at the Errikan base of operations seemed to be little different. The climate was the same as it was every day, pleasantly warm early, and the natural din of nature echoing in the background remained the same as every morning. But something was very different this morning. The Grand Sovereign of the Errikan Empire was arriving.
The officers and garrison were lined in diciplined military order on the beach, watching the massive EIS Imperator, dwarfing much of the rest of the fleet that the Emperor had brought with him.
"Greetings, Colonel," Emperor Christian said warmly, returning the Colonel's salute, "I am relieved to be on land again, and far more relieved to be on the front lines once more."
"We are honored to have you, Imperator."

"Here."
A large map of the region lit the screen, and the Emperor now indicated the large island in the Errikan claimed area.
"I believe it is now time for some old-fashioned Errikan Diplomacy."

SIC:
The waters of the Nukan Sea were calm and warm this day, the gentle breezes that blew across them refreshing those that were fortunate enough to be swimming in these waters carefreely. Of course, some who were so fortunate would find themselves less than fortunate.
While the Errikan military operations on the mainland sought to secure some native relations, as in more than the relation between Joshua and the Canaanites, there was no such change in Errikan colonial tactics on the isle of Petolli.
After an initial bombardment by the Errikan fleet, the landing began. The strategies and tactics that had been perfected on the natives of Arterus would yet again find use, this time on the people of Petolli.
The advance inland was to be aided by shock tactics, heavy artillery and air bombardments, the Errikan heavy tanks, plus general overwhelming force, and would be reminiscent of General Sherman's march in the opposite direction in terms of sheer brutality.
"It truly is beautiful, isn't it?" the Emperor, standing at the forward command post and watching the bloody advance in the distance, commented to a commanding officer.
"What is, sir?"
"Natural Selection," he laughed, "Or, if you prefer, the destruction of weaker pagan peoples, wiping the slate clean for the settlement of stronger, civilized Christians. The expansion of our Empire to yet another corner of the world. This is beauty."

OOC: I completely understand you there
IC:
The artillery caught initially caught the Errikans by surprise, blasting quite a few Trottles into oblivion and injuring several Faust troopers. However, their advanced and very, very heavy artillery quickly responded, targeting the sources of enemy fire and firing hundreds of rounds at the positions.
At the same time, Errikan infantry divisions ran into the advancing enemy forces.
"Open fire," came the order, which was quickly followed. Two legions of Trottles formed a wall before staging a frontal attack on the enemy as tank divisions were drawn up. Helicopters, armed with heavy machine guns (not dissimilar to GAUs) and rockets were the first to bear down on the native tanks, while many Faust troopers, who had taken up aggressive but defendable positions, aimed down on the enemies with their AE5s, which use copper coated depleted uranium bullets, and K3s, which can be used to disable modern tanks and completely destroy other armored vehicles.
The rest of the army continued its advance before hearing of the battle. They began to sweep forward and towards the battle, moving to enclose what remained of the enemy force. They would not arrive for a while, but when they did there would be rivers of native blood.

That exchange continued, but Errikan forces elsewhere on the mainland continued to search for native correspondence.
One group of Faust Troopers found their way through the forest to a small river, which they followed. It wound through the forest before, together with another river which it met at the spot, it fell off a cliff to form a twenty foot water fall into a large, pristine pool below. The soldiers approached the edge, looking down upon the movement below.
