This Role play will be charactor squad based during the battle for Stalingrad, this is one of the most bloody battles in WW2 that was ever faught. Both German and Russian forces faught day and night in close combat against each other, both sides lacking ammunition, food, man power and morale.

Basicly i want to see how many people wanna do this. Each player will select a side then form a squad placing all their names and job within the group of soldiers, each members equipment with their name/rank. This will be a co-op rp, members may join togeather an assist eachother...

Each squad is allowed up to six members...

Expect lots of close combat and action with a decent level of realisim included. This will be played how we choose to play it, lots of house to house combat, fighting street to street. Food and ammunition will be limited for your guys so after you use it up, more must be found to keep you going.....

OOC: I know they have really a load of ammunition with them, but they have just stormed a crater that had been fought over for several says, then left behind as the front moved. It was filled with dead soldiers and their equipment, so they took as much as they could carry (and ate every piece of bread they could find from the pockets of the corpses) before moving on.

If you want to play SS you will actually have to change history a bit, because I don't think there were any SS-units involved in the Stalingrad battles, at any point. The closest unit was propably the 5th SS-Division Wiking (mot.), but it fought in the Caucasus, not in or around Stalingrad.

Airdropped by an NKVD light bomber, they are heading toward their main objectives: the factories of Stalingrad.
*NKVD are Soviet Special forces in WWII. Predecessor to KBG

So, operationally, the sides were about the same.

(there were others with them, of course, for they had sent a platoon, this is just all that remained, and I don't want to spend time creating people who start in the RP as dead)

The three story building they lived in had a nice supply of food... rats and mice and surprisingly the water still worked. Half of the house was callopsed, but that just left less to be defended, and better hiding spots.

I belive the rats fled the city a long time ago... At least if you believe a German's Diary entry...

As For rusian supiriority:
General Chuikov, the commander of Soviet 62nd Army, threw in every last reserve. Everything that could shoot was on the streets, everything that could fly was in the sky. But his troops were outnumbered and could not stop the German advancement. By the end of November the Wehrmacht cut through Stalingrad, cutting the 62nd Army in two parts. But that still did not mean the end of it. Shrinking and weakening, the Red Army was stubbornly fighting. Particularly severe clashes took place over the Mamaev Mound. The hill changed hands at least 8 times.

Unles the russians cross the Don river and hold it, Stalingrad will fall to the Germans.

Pavlov's Meatgrinder:
One house in Stalingrad was defended by a single platoon of sergeant Pavlov. That house, known as "Pavlov’s house", became a symbol of determination of Russians to hold the city no matter what. Completely surrounded by Germans, Pavlov’s soldiers were holding the constantly attacked house until the relief came. That intensive fighting was going on for 59 (fifty nine !!!) days.

German elite Fallschjager unit from italy bolsters Stalingrad front, small group mutinees, becomes a german penal battalion, fights a few T-34s in winter with an 'anti-tank rifle' (28/20 mm), last two die of hypothermia, one suicides, the other is shot by a deranged officewr (who is also shot) and their crippled CO (who is missing a hand) dies in the snow as Paulus surrenders to the Soviet Tank Lietenant.

I borrowed a bit from the movie for Hugo Kitsch (disillusioned NCO) and Hiedleburg's Characters, Willi is an excellent soldier, and Zimmer is going insane.

The biggest difference is location, the unit in the movie is initially assaulting the Red October plant, while my unit is fought to a standstill at Pavlov's house, stationed convienently right between his reinforcements at the railroad, and his unit.

Already by Pavlov's house, which makes this rather difficult, since now both the NPC and you will be in very close proximity to my troops.
(but then again, NPCs are everywhere as basic fodder for the players).

I'll try taking another NPC relief column, armed with a DP, 3 PPSh-41s, and 2 Moissen-Nagents. Most likely a wandering squad of 6.

I'll most likely trap them in the cellar, and lob a grenade inside as I close and lock the door, allowing me and my troops to get some better weapons (or at least more ammunition and to force Pavlov's units to respond to the fact that they've been cut off).

Bio.: Peipus grew up in a small farming town on the border of Poland and Russia, although he was technically a Russian. Although his father had only a 9th grade education, his father was exceptionally knowledgable in Russian history, and named his only son "Peipus", after the legendary medieval battle between Germanic Tuetonic knights and Ancient Russian troops over the frozen Lake Peipus (hence the name, "The Battle of Lake Peipus"). Once the Germans attacked the motherland, his father went off to fight in the local militia against the Germans. His father was killed, and Peipus was left his mom and sister. The survivors of the militia ran back to the village after the skirmish, and waited for the German advance. The Germans did finaly advance, but not after shelling the village to hell. Peipus saw the shells fall on the village one day while he was out in the feilds, and by the time he ran back into his family's house, a shell had exploded and killed his only family, his mom and sister. The next day, he took all valuables and headed off to Stalingrad, where he was literaly thrown into the back of a truck by Russian troops and shipped off to Russian boot camp (if you can call it that).

No, I have not been to Russia, but I do know that seasons change, and the climate varies by region. Siberea is similr to Alaska, while Stalingrad is something similar to Wisconsin, but without as many fields and farms to shelter in.
