Albinanda Serodini and the opposition FPD have accepted
prime minister-elect Fernando Chiovitti's offer of a grand coalition.
The grand coalition was the only real option for the PSC after their
extremely narrow win in Monday's elections, combined with the
fact that some parties either refused to enter coalitions all together
or, that the PSC and FPD blocked each other's coalition attempts.

TIMIOCATO -- The Federation of Progressive Democrats can breathe a sigh of relief, as they are still in government despite losing Monday's election to the Pacitalian Social Coalition.
The FPD, which was beaten by one seat in the vote two days ago, was invited to be the other half of a two-party grand coalition by prime minister-to-be Fernando Chiovitti. Interim leader Albinanda Serodini accepted the offer last night and now will enter deliberations with the PSC echelon on which party will get what cabinet positions and which people will fill them.
The new government will be sworn in Monday, and their first task will most likely be to declare war on Hypocria and, possibly, the Kraven Corporation, if not at least to send military aid to Southeast Asia to help battle the latter entity. Hypocria is on Pacitalia's hit-list after their unsatisfactory defection to the SAAS from ASPIRE two months ago, and for their subsequent attacks on Pacitalian allies Nedalia.
Once that is over and done with, work will begin immediately on setting up either an Ampolitant committee on the new political framework, or deciding on whether or not the legislative body and executive body as a whole will cooperate on churning out a new, 21st-century political system for the Pacitalian republic.
Rumours that Chiovitti would choose Albinanda Serodini as his senior deputy prime minister were quashed by the fiery 33-year-old herself. "I have no intention of taking that position, though I appreciate that someone would consider me for it," she said. "I am simply guiding my party through the storm for the time that I am eligible to do so, and then I will leave that job to my successor."
It is assumed that the PSC will keep all the social, environmental and diplomatic portfolios while giving the FPD the economic, financial and security positions. Most analysts expect the Chiovitti cabinet to be around 25-30 people, about the same as Sorantanali's cabinet but still much higher than former prime minister Dr Timotaio Ell's, which averaged 15.7 Agustinates over nine and a half years in power.
Monday's results were officially certified by ElectionsPacitalia, meaning it is no longer possible for recounts to be done or for voting irregularities themselves to be fixed. However, ElectionsPacitalia says the results are "one hundred percent certifiable and were wholly recounted twice on our own initiative".
