Allies Meet in Tarlag ( For GAPTS and Hawk Al.

Occ: This thread is for GAPTS and Hawk Alliance members meeting in Tarlag to discuss their war effort against the Northern Colonies.

Admiral Dayron looked over the flight deck of the command carrier Saratoga to the still waters of Forbidden Bay the main acorage for the Tarlag navy.
A young naval officer Lt. Ken Yeshiro walked up to his commanding Officer and said " Sir, I have a report from a PB-29. They have sighted the Auralina task force 350 NM out of the bay and they are steaming here at
20kts."
"Very good Mr. Yeshiro, make sure the commander of the base has their berthing assignments in order and the guide boats in position to help them in. Have we gotten any word on who the MES is sending to the meeting? "
"No Sir, they are sending someone but they have not said who yet. In their last communication the MES stated that they will be directing the war effort."
Dayron frowned at the last statement. "I hope General Cox did not get that transmission or he will have kittens. He wants to run this war his way. Never mind that the Alliance was in this war first and we are the Johnny come lately."
" That is why the Duke put you in charge of working with our allies Sir. You have had a wining track record of working with other militaries and a proven war record."
"Still bucking for that promotion son, prepare the conference room and order lots of strong tea from the galley our friends should be arriving soon."

The Farminan helicopter circled the Saratoga once before coming into land. A firm thump could be heard, followed by a long wave of verbal abuse. The blades slowed and then stopped as the side of the vehicle’s side door opened up. First two corporals, followed by Major James Sandbar and finally General Alan Wilcox; the general who had been building up an attack force in Tarlag to join the Messians and the Tarlagi; and now it appeared that several other nations were adding their weight.

“I do remember anyone inviting us,” said the Major, a medium height man with a modest gut that indicated middle age.

“Nonsense,” pronounced General Wilcox, “Farmina has a large stake in this theatre and therefore we are more than welcome.”

General Wilcox was taller than his adjutant, but only by an inch. Although a thin man, his years were catching up with him and beginning to take their revenge around his waste. Observing Admiral Dayron, he whispered in Sandbar’s ear, “Name?”

“Admiral Dayron,” responded Major Sandbar.

“Ah, Admiral Dayron,” said Wilcox, “What a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”

Admiral Dayron in his dress whites with white gloves walked up to the Farminain General and saluted. " General Wilcox a pleasure to meet you Sir. " I was unaware that your Government was sending anyone to this meeting. Regardless General you are most welcome aboard my flagship."
The Admiral leads the Farmina delegation to the conference room in the island of the old command carrier. As they enter the main hatch to the interior of the ship they are saluted by two seaman guards carrying MP-53's.
"I wish to apologize for not giving you a more formal welcome but we wern't expecting anyone for at least another hour."
The group is lead into a wood paneled conference room with video monitors on the far wall.
"Gentlemen if I may offer you some tea we can talk before the rest get here."

“I’d rather a strong coffee,” said Wilcox, his bulk moving as he walked and talked, “Something to keep the eyes open.”

“Tea will do splendidly,” said Major Sandbar, his portly figure covered by plain his moss green uniform.

The General took a seat, with little regard as to whether it belonged to someone else or not, his uniform as plain as the major’s, but with the notable addition of four gold stars. Sandbar followed the General’s lead, taking a seat next to him. The Farminan corporals took a position behind the General and the Major, standing at attention.

It was Major Sandbar that took turn to talk, his chin wobbling as he spoke, “Farmina is has fought the Colonies the longest and the hardest. We have invested the most. In your country we have assembled a force totaling fifty divisions out of the sight of the Colonial glare; our contributions elsewhere even greater. It is the opinion of the General, the Field Marshal and Supreme Commander Aricar himself; that operations out in here in the east fall under a single commander, to advance co-operation. Wouldn’t you agree?”

“A Farminan commander in the east would allow better co-operation with the Farminan commander in the west,” added General Wilcox, a comment that caused his adjutant to shot him a glare.

Admiral Dayron snapped his fingers and within a minute one of the conference room orderlies brought a pot of coffee from the mess.
"General I can see the wisdom of one over all commander operating on this front but my nation has had bad luck in the past while working under foreign commanders. The other problem is I know any GAPTS forces will not work under non GAPTS command."
Lt. Yeshiro spoke up " Admiral If I may, the Grand Duke has issued an order that no Tarlag forces may be placed under outside command. The only exception is a joint GAPTS military operation."
"Dayron looking annoyed at his aid and spoke up. " Thank you Lt. I was hoping not to bring that up at this time. You must understand General that my reason for this meeting is to discuss how we are going to prosecute the war not argue over who is in command. My main question is this when are your forces going to begin their attack on the Northern Colonies?"

General Wilcox poured himself a cup of coffee, “And we certainly would not be placing them under any GAPTS commander.”

Major Sandbar was less blunt than his superior, “I think what the General is saying; is that fifty divisions of Farminan forces in the east would be a difficult command for any non-Farminan; especially with success in the east co-dependent with Farminan successes in the west.”

“We did not invite GAPTS and we do not welcome then,” said the General, his words exactly accurate but poorly thought, as he poured a small amount of the fine brandy he kept in his jacket into the coffee.

Major Sandbar decided not even to bother translate that into political niceties, the damage was already done. Instead he decided it better to smooth over by answering the Admiral’s question; something the General had not bothered doing, “Farmina has already laid its plans very carefully; however I fear discussing them at this point of time may be unwise*. With the Colonials so certain the main blow will come from the west and moving forces there appropriately; we are cautious about major action in the west. Instead we shall allow the first blow to come out in the east; in an area that has already been named in dispatches. We have already initiated a major air offensive and are planning to bleed the Colonials white as they reinforce their foolish foothold in Abbey Village.”

*OOC: Detailing plans that NC can just read here makes it a little too easy for him.

Admiral Dayron face began turning red he was a patient man but this General was pushing him to the limit.
"General Wilcox you may not of invited GAPTS but we did. If you can't work with them then maybe you can't work with us. You Sir need GAPTS and the good will of Reformed Oceania more then we need you."
Lt. Yeshiro with a look of panic on his face spoke up "Admiral Dayron If I may remind you of General Cox's orders."
Dayron paused for a moment. " Mr. Yeshiro I know my orders."
" I will have you know General Wilcox that the MES also went before GAPTS and asked for their aid. If you want to turn down the aid of ten carrier battle groups and over ten divisions of battle hardened troops you can but I am not that stupid. Our intelligence shows that the Colonies are going to put up a very stubborn defense. We need all the forces we can muster up. If you personally cannot work with us and our allies then I suggest that you high command get someone who can."
Dayron paused for a moment to let what he had said sink in to this pampas ass. " I am suggesting a joint command. Each military take a sector and they are in charge of the operations in that area. Any foreign troops in that sector are under the command of the sector commander."

The opening statement of Admiral Dayron’s spiel, nearly caused General Wilcox to laugh, but he managed to control himself and allowed the Major to do the talking. “Admiral Dayron, you seem to be placing Reformed Oceania and GAPTS under a single large umbrella. You are the only member of both. The aid of Reformed Oceania is important, yes you are correct. Extending that logic to GAPTS is highly flawed. Should GAPTS refuse to co-operate with Farminan planning and withdraw from the theatre, it certainly would not mean a withdraw of Oceanic support. Rotovia and Macisikan are committed, just as is your nation.”

Wilcox added, sounding more diplomatic than before, “It is natural to be cautious about allies amongst Farminans. You have called a great many nations who we know little about to Reformed Oceania and expect us to simply take their word that they are not stooges or worse. This world is one where treachery is rampant because there is so little consequence.”

He paused before adding, “The dividing of forces into sectors does however match our own ideas; as long as the attack is concentrated on the stretch of land suggested by the Farminan high command.”

ooc: let's say that Alaric, etc, were on their way to this meeting. I'll pick it up from here.

IC: Alaric and Ricala strode through the doorway of the meeting room like they owned the place. Alaric nodded to the various nobles and generals, then focussed on General Wilcox.

Extending his hand, the Xeraphian Emperor said, "General Wilcox, let me make my position clear and simple. The nations of Xeraph, Auralinia, and The Grey Phoenix are prepared to assist Tarlag in whatever way they can. I've received a note from our ally N Y C who is also giving consideration to join this little party. There may be others who will rally to the aid of a fellow GAPTS ally.

I'll be blunt: if Farminia doesn't want to put it's forces under the direction of a GAPTS commander, that's OK with me. Neither Xeraph nor any of the nations of the Xeraphian Empire would ever consider submitting to the command of a non-GAPTS commander.

But we can still work together. Duke Ozgood is no doubt cognizant of the logistics and demographics of The Northern Colonies. All we need to do is decide which section of TNC's territory each of us are going to invade, and stick to that territory. Xeraph has done this before very successfully and decisively. To each his own area. If and when any of the individual combatants find themselves in a bind, they then have the opportunity to ask for aid from the other invaders. However, because the invaders were not unified in the attack from the start, the other forces would not be required to respond, especially since they'll have theyr'e hands full with their own battles."

Alaric was leaning on the table directly across from Wilcox, palms flat on the table, looking directly into his eyes. "But just let me tell you one thing, general. Even though Xeraph has acted in this manner before, it was always to the detriment of the nation or nations who refused to work under a GAPTS commander. The Xeraphian Empire alone, without help from you or anybody else can attack and destroy these Northern Colonists using my preferred method of extreme and unrestrained force. In the cause of unity, Xeraph has and will submit to a single commander. You know as well as I do that anything with more than one head is a monster. I will personally guarantee that whoever we choose to be Supreme Commander of the Northern Colony War will be of impeccable credentials and ability. And if he should fail for whatever reason, I will assume command and see this thing through to the end. Is that good enough for you?"

Alaric stood straight up, folded his massive arms, and stood waiting for the Farminian general's answer......

ooc: is there a map of TNC, and if not, can someone make one so we can see where we're fighting?
The Grey Phoenix

Prince Vlad was musing on the relative merits of a small, tactical war compared to the all-out "wall of force" preferred by Xeraph when a knock came on his office door. "Come", he said.

The door opened and a comely secretary hurried into the room a bit out of breath. "Your Highness, a message from Lord Sethanis." Her hand trembled as she held out the slip of paper towards the Prince.

Vlad saw her fear, and as he grabbed the note from her and read it, he looked back up at her and asked, "Does anyone else know about this?"

"I don't think so, m'lord. A routine flight over The Pagan Borderlands picked up a transmission indicating that an entire nation of that region had been wiped out. The transmission was one of the primitive vampiric victory chants common to the ancient Blood Warriors of Acheron."

Vlad glared at her. "Acheron? That Empire was destroyed over 8,000 years ago! What was the name of the nation that was destroyed?"

The secretary, actually a commissioned Captain of the Red Legions, replied. "I believe it was called The Slayer Commune. There was a rally in support of a unified Borderland government, but the Commune refused to subjugate itself to a single authority. Within hours, the leadership of the Slayer Commune was dead, and the systematic killing of the entire natire nation commenced."

"Hmmm...and according to the transmission picked up it was our nemesis of old who set this genocidal war in action."

A tremor rippled through the Captain's body. "Yes, m'lord.............Azulun."

"Well, Captain, rest assured that the Emperor is well aware of Azulun's activities. No need to worry about him right now. What we need to focus on is our deployment to the Northern Colonies theatre. I've ordered four CBG's and two Air Wings to the area, and if I'm not mistaken, Black Shadows, Auralinia, and Xeraph itself are sending similar numbers to the defense of Tarlag. Have we heard anything from Vyossae?"

"No, Your Highness. the Katanas are not yet officially part of GAPTS, and so they're waiting for word as to what they're to do and when."

"Hmmm, yes, forgot about that. Alright, Captain carry on. Double the recon flights over the Pagan Borderlands. And instruct the North Sea Fleet to keep an eye out for anything unusual."

"Yes, m'lord."

I am still part of the GAPTS, i believe.

IC:
A man dressed in a Shazbotdom Marine Corps Uniform walked into the meeting room carrying a briefcase. He saluted the person sitting at the head of the table and walked to where the Shazbotdom name tag was and set the suitcase down and opened it up. Inside was what looked like a satelite phone and a voice conferencing unit. He turned on the unit and dialed a number on the phone. It ran for about 10 seconds before someone picked up. ON the other end was Mr. Larry Williams, Shazbotdom Minister of Foreign Affairs.

"Sorry about not being able to attend Gentlmen. We have issues with Allies being assaulted and my place is here until my saftey can be gauranteed while traveling. So where did you guys leave off?"

General Wilcox was firm with the Emperor, well as firm as one could be with an Emperor, “Your highness, you must understand this attack has been planned months ago. It is the very strong desire of everyone from me up to the President that the attack occurs on a small stretch of front. It is not our intention to launch a war of attrition. Instead we should take advantage of the fact that the Colonies have to spread out to defend their nation and we respond with a concentrated punch.”

Major Sandbar then unrolled the map and made a small mark on it, about half a state in length, “Your highness, what is being proposed is that we land here and push west, keeping our flanks strong in case the Colonials try to do something predictable. Pushing west from here to here would be crippling to the Colonies.”

“We then intend to take these cities one by one,” said the Major, his chins bouncing, “If the Colonials don’t throw in the towel by then; I think we will be forced to conquer every inch of ground.”

General Wilcox then added, “We’ve warned the Colonials that every minute they continue fighting we shall make our terms more brutal, starting with an equal peace. I hope your highness understands Farmina will probably be imposing a harsh peace.”

Alaric noted the arrival of the Shazbotdom representative, then turned his attention back to the Farminian general. He stared at him coldly thinking, 'Fool! He and his government just want the glory of a conquest.' "Very well, General Wilcox. Have it your way. The Imperial members of GAPTS will be there to help any way they can. And I'm sure that other GAPTS allies will do the same. If you want to lead the assault, be my guest. Just be aware of the fact that any occupation forces will be equal in numbers. I will not allow TNC to become a Farminan satellite. We are here to correct a wrong, not aquire new territory. Understood?"

Alaric struck the Major as a man who easily grabbed the wrong end of the stick and shook it furiously, “Your highness, what the general means is that the Colonies should be punished in proportion to the crimes. If they can go on fighting at no additional cost, surely they would go on fighting. Perhaps your experience with the Colonials are limited. These people are unlike any we have encountered before. They do not listen to reason and unless you give them strong incentive to stop something; they come after you again and again; like their attacks on the Farminan homeland. And to ease your concern Farmina has released multiple statements declaring it won’t keep an inch of land.”

General Wilcox then asked a very logical question, “How many divisions is GAPTS going to throw at that stretch of coast? I doubt fifty divisions will be nearly enough when they realise where we are concentrating our attack. We’ll have a week, perhaps two weeks to make the most of the enemy being spread all over the country.”

"We've run into unreasonable nations before, General. They bleed and die just like any other. And as to what forces GAPTS can contribute to the cause, rest assured that there will be more than adequate resources applied. GAPTS is comprised of nations able to deploy millions of troops and many divisions of armor, AirWings, and naval support. Your plan to attack in the east and push west is wise. It'll cut the Colonies in half. Might I suggest that once the center of TNC is taken that prongs proceed northwest and southwest as well as due west. We don't want to chance being pinched by a Colonial attack from the north and south, potentially cutting us in two."

The Xeraphian Emperor relaxed a bit and assumed a more congenial pose. "Might I remind the General that Xeraph and Farmina have been allies for quite some time. Your embassy in our Royal City of Khemi has been established for some time now. Perhaps we are long over due for a formal gathering. Let's get our respective ambassadors together and discuss this."

Alaric turned to his cousin. "Ric, do you have anything to add?" Ricala, King of Auralinia, Director of the Xeraphian Space League, spoke up. " Perhaps we should be more specific as to what forces we will contribute. Speaking for my country, we are prepared to provide eight CBGs, three AirWings, and a division of armor to the war effort. In addition, I will order 325,000 Auralinian Marines to TNC. Will that do?"

Alaric grinned. "Sounds good to me. For Xeraph's part, I'l send an equal number of CBGs and aircraft. Instead of armor, I will deploy 5% of our Mandalorian Clone Troopers...1.2 million armed troops. I will get with Vlad of The Grey Phoenix and Sethanis of Black Shadows and see what they would be willing to provide. I'm sure it will at least match the other Imperial GAPTS forces. Will that be adequate, General?"

Major Sandbar detected a more diplomatic air rising, “I never mentioned being able to cleave the Colonies in two; not there anyway. We don’t want to attack anywhere they expect us to attack. Then again, they expect us to attack where they don’t expect, as contradictory as that sounds…”

General Wilcox easily got sick of his adjutant’s voice, but never got to sick of his own, “Your highness, your idea of drives on the flanks match my own; thus why we need to keep the flanks strong. My estimates are that we need about five million men to make this attack decisive. President Palmer has already broken off one million from our force in Rotovia and deployed it here in Tarlag; but I continue to lobby him in vain for more. 150,000 have been offered by the Messians. Your generous promises boost our numbers significantly. Admiral Dayron, you have as of yet not named a contribution?”

“Five million sir,” said Major Sandbar, “I have not heard you name that number before.”

“Latest estimates put the enemy at ten million,” said the General, “This will be spread out over the entire country to begin with; but even when they begin to concentrate, they will need to keep enough troops to watch other areas in case we try to launch landings. The Colonials are especially jittery about the west. They will have to defend against a punch there even if we don’t punch there.”

That didn’t explain where the number five million came from, but Major Sandbar realised an enquiry from the Emperor of Xeraph had gone unanswered. “With regard to any matters of a diplomatic matter, such as a formal gathering of ambassadors, the General is under qualified to deal with them,” said Sandbar, “Very under qualified.”

"Well, Major, once this little shindig is over, we can let the professional politicians sort out the details of a state dinner. First things first.

As to the GAPTS contribution of troops, Xeraph's 1.2 million and Auralinia's 325,000 will undoubtedly be bolstered by at least another million from Black Shadows and The Grey Phoenix. And as I've mentioned, there's another 24.8 million Clone Troopers available, not to mention regular Xeraphian Marines, Commandos, and standard infantry. To top it off, I have 12 million AI Mek Arakno units, which we call Spiders, available. Most are armed with .35mm Gatling Guns and constructed of titanium. They can move through any type of terrain at 42 mph while firing with devastating effect. If you want this over quickly with absolutely minimal casualties, this would be the way to go."
