Aboard the USS Furry Fury

“Marines! Sailors! You should be proud of yourselves! With your participation, with this battlegroup, the renewed United States Navy is re-entering the war on the GFFA war! With your help, the Allaneans and the Extra-Solar Union of Systems will strike at the heart of the Communist enemy that is New Dornalia, and purge the scum from the systems they own! Is that clear?!”

“Yes, Sir!”

“Sailors! It’s this ship that is the capital ship of the battlegroup, the tip of the spear of the United States that will stick in the foul heart of the Communist shithole we’re fighting, that will break resistance in New Dornalia, that will win the war for the Extra-Solar Union. Sailors, Marines, are you proud of yourselves?”

“Yes, Sir!”

“In this case, to battlestations! We will warp out to Engels system within forty minutes, all battlestations manned, all combat bots ready, all Tuxes loaded, is that clear?”

“Yes, Sir!”

“Then, got onto it, you useless alphamale assholes! Go for it, let’s put he fear of God into the Communist scum! For God! For freedom! For Allanea!”

“YEEAAAAH!!!”

An unholy scream of rage was unleashed by the thousands of Space Marines and sailors as they rushed to stations.

Deep in the bowels of the Fury, immense Miriel-class anti-planetary assault missiles were being prepared, loaded and fueled, ready for a strike upon their targets, ready to purge and to kill. Throughout the Fury – and though the other ships of the Battlegroup – men, elves, Dohwar and Valaquine bore their prayers – to Jehova, to Jesus, to Allah, to Sirithil, to Thor, to Helm and to Slaanesh.

The Battlegroup was called Fist of Allanea. Now, the Fist was clenched to strike.

“Entering hyperdrive, ten seconds left!”

“All armaments ready and prepared.”

“Entering hyperdrive, five seconds left.”

“All aboard, brace for hyperdrive!”

And so it began.

New Wuhan SSR, Engels System--

The busy shipyards of the Gamel Abdel Nasser works were ablaze with ship construction and with the demands of war. Ships were coming and going, and people were moving about, trading, working, whatnot. Aside from all the military vessels, it looked like another day.

But the MacIntyre Line defenses kept watch, on High Alert since the days of war with the GE. They were ready to turn on FTLi at a moment's notice--hell, they had it on 24/7, since the damn Megans began committing acts of piracy upon the rest of the GFFA. And, nevermind the fact a large force of vessels was available at a moment's notice, and beefy planetary defenses in the form of the Storm Eagle systems covering New Wuhan.

That large force of vessels, some 300-400 ships under the command of Commodore Graham, the local fleet commander, half the smaller Lin Biao II Heavy Cruiser class but half also the formidable Mao Zedong III class ships, and the smaller Zaitsev II ISDs, a much different animal than their GE cousins. Fighter support would also be available from the planet below, as was all across ND via the Hyperspace Gate system.

As things were moving about, Graham was conducting shakedown drills and exercises, there seemed to be no evidence anything could go wrong.....

The Allanean craft decided not to enter the FTLi zone – that would be so far against the plans of the USSN. Instead, most of them remained on the outside, sending a message back to Earth to send more ships and more men. Forward went the cargo of all the carriers – 20,000 Anne Coulter Mark VII fighter drones – towards the two nearest enemy defense stations. With them, and divided evenly, were twenty Rube class robotic transports.

The carriers entered the FTLi layer some time later, remaining near enough to issue rough command changes to the craft – but not near enough to minutely control their motions.

As the craft – ten thousand on each end – began to approach the stations, they began to fire long-range anti-matter missiles at the stations – and the Rube craft increased the rate of acceleration.

Closer.

The drones began to fire beam weapons and gattling Hellbores, the shots exploding against the hulls with insane explosive power.

Closer.

And finally, some of the drones were programmed to – instead of just strafing the hulls of the station from a small distance – perform a similar maneover, but, when they got as near as they could to the hull, try and crash into it, detonating the Omnidirectional Nucleonic Thrust Devices on board.

In other words, each of the fighters doubled up as missile with a 150-megaton payload. Yes, it was probably small, but that was what the Allaneans could bring to bear so far.

The shields of the defense platforms held, violently resisting any immediate attack before they could try and follow standard procedure and hail the Allaneans. Massed fire from Gauss Miniguns and Earth and Steel Dragon Submunition Shots (launched from torpedo tubes) were fired into the hordes of kamikazes and the enemy carriers; the Earth Dragon essentially being massive space canister shot, the Steel Dragon utilizing nanites programmed to go awry on any errant light ships or shots that threatened the New Dornalians. They also powered up their Demolisher Guns, and begun unleashing a torrent of harrowing Warp Energy upon the Allanean carriers that dared approach.

And, (OOCly, I apologize for not mentioning this before.) the mines near the defense platforms awoke, charging upon the foe with furious anger, driven by either tractor beams or their own power, aiming to unleash their very deadly high explosive payload upon the foe.

All over this section of the Line, the defenses came alive, and began scanning for other enemies.

---------------------
A message was sent out, alerting New Wuhan HQ of the presence of enemy forces, and before long, Graham's forces awoke from their patrols, changing positions and heading to the site of attack. Meanwhile, the Storm Eagle systems went active, preparing for the event of planetary assault with their shields and defensive sattelites.

The friendlies moved quickly, hoping to catch the foe before it was too late.

One after another the drones were cut down, some by gunfire, some by mines, others by missile fire. Clearly, a new tactic was needed, and it was tried – some of the Kamikaze drones would begin detonating among the mines, detonating with the full yield of their 150-megaton charges to clear the mines. Then, swarms of drones would move in where the mines just were, seconds ago.

Still, this would not be enough as canister shot and missile fire tore through the ranks of the Allanean craft. The carriers, while still remaining outside the range of the cannon (ooc: I mentioned before that the carriers would stay back), would pull even futher backwards, while issuing rapid-reprogramming commands to the drone fighters.

Six of the robotic transports where already lost, but their job was nearing completion. As the last lines of kernel executed themselves, the Rube class craft adjusted trajectory one last time and went towards their targets. Around them, fighters danced and dodged, sometimes using their own hulls to block incoming missile, sometimes even detonating an engine to clear out a swarm of enemy rounds and rockets. Clearly, the Allaneans were up to something, but what on…

Drones online: 17,433

Within seconds, whatever was left of the 14 cargo drones impacted violently. Even the sheer weight of the Rubes would be impressive for the shields. But the Allaneans were not banking on sheer weight – they assembled a single multiple-gigaton scale munition in the cargo compartment of each of the craft.

Boom. – said one of the operators aboard the carriers.

Graham's force arrived just in time to see the kamikaze cargo ships slamming into the stations, the stations suffering massive damage to shields and the interior witnessing people being thrown about like an action figure in the hands of a three year old. The Stations' shields were dangerously low, and the hulls were feeling the heat too.

Graham's force elected to move in, point defenses and torpedoes remotely detonated from their ranks blazing into the enemy ranks of fighters as they moved up to the stations, which began resuming fire with their own PDs, as engineering crews aboard and nanites began repairing the damage, and the shields began recharging as fast as they could under the circumstances. They covered the stations, as Commodore Graham himself attempted to open hailing frequencies with the Allaneans, declaring, "Attention enemy forces. This is Commodore Joseph Graham of the New Dornalian People's Navy. Why have you fired upon us!?"

The Allanean fighter planes continued to hammer away at the stations, while their own numbers dwindled rapidly – though less rapidly then before, still they continued to fire. The Allanean carriers also began to approach the scene, pelting the stations with heavy anti-ship missiles of the size that would be just plain too huge to launch from an ordinary fighter and fire from ship-scale plasma cannon. As the stations where already weakened, fire from twenty ships was assumed to be able to finish them off – though, of course, Allaneans may have been wrong about that – again.

In the meanwhile, the rest of the force, confident that two more battlegroups where now being prepared for rapid deployment back home, began to move into the FTLi field –and of course, they received the signal from Commodore Graham.

The response would be seen as possibly rather… strange by the Dornalians. In fact, it would be almost bound to be seen as strange.

Grand Admiral Luis Morrigan, aboard the USS Furry Fury, was almost completely bald. This is why, when he took off the head segment of his raccoon suit, his head stood out much more then could be expected. The fursuiting Admiral saluted Commodor Graham and smiled to him.

“Good day, Sir. We are here as part of Allanea’s duty towards the Extra Solar Union of States and as part of her duty to humanity to be an enemy of all oppression – including communism. Prepare to die.”

With this, the entire Allanean battlegroup fired all it’s available weapons at the stations at once.

The stations were summarily destroyed by the successive waves of fire, surviving the first few but ultimately falling to the last wave, but not before they got off several good Demolisher Gun shots at the foe. Meanwhile, Graham, shocked to see his enemy was a furry of all people, was pissed off. It was one thing to be taunted. It was quite another to be taunted by a furry. Where he came from, that behavior would warrant a spanking; his parents did subscribe to the Something Awful forums.

The Lin Biao Heavy Cruisers rushed out and began moving on the Carriers from top and below, pushing their engines to maximum power and proceeding to dump Demolisher Cannon and Ion Cannon shot upon the foe, along with 400 People's Hammer Mark 1 antimatter torpedoes at 160kg load of antimatter, weaving about to avoid enemy fire. The Mao Zedongs, meanwhile, fired their own Demolisher Guns and 150 more Antimatter torpedoes upon the carriers, this time, the more powerful Mark 2s with five tons of the stuff aboard, and charged forth to close the gap. The Zaitsevs, meanwhile, moved to cover the flanks and rear of the Maos. All ships were ordered to keep up PD fire as well upon the foe, and thus did so.

“Bring her about! Bring her about! I am telling you, bring her about, we can still save her! Goddamn-“

The massive explosions shook the entire body of the carrier, and within seconds it was flailing pointlessly in mid-space. Some escape pods were fired off, but generally the crew died inside the ship. In the meanwhile, another ship, too, was hit. It was damaged, but the crew were still controlling it, slowly abandoning it pod after pod. The captain left last, punching the last buttons on the controls. Just as he left, the burning carrier accelerated as an immense projectile into the nearest New Dornalian ship. Hopefully, it would find it’s mark.

Other then that, the point-defense and the shields seemed to be doing their job. The Porcupines – covered as they were in hundreds of guns – especially helped in that regard. And, as it all happened, the fighters formed an umbrella-like formation in front of the Allanean ships which continued to accelerate into Dornalian space. A few more hours of this and they would be inside…

The New Dornalians decided to mess with the opposition once more. The Lin Biaos moved quickly to the rear of the enemy forces, firing the antimatter weapons they had shot before at the rear of the enemy craft, along with the Demolisher Guns and Ion Cannons, turning to face the enemy rear all the while.

The Maos, meanwhile, poured lots of Steel Dragon torpedoes into the umbrella of fighters, letting the nanite containers inside explode outwards, spilling their contents into the enemy formation and letting them go about their programming, attempting to eat the hulls of any enemy they touched. If they were still challenged, the Earth Dragon and Gauss Minigun shots could be counted upon to do something; the canister shot and massed fire of many railgun slugs at once at the fighters had to do something.

They also added 1,200 torpedo volleys into the swarm too, before parting and moving to the sides in a flanking manuever with the Zaitsevs, dumping 6 consecutive volleys of 900 conventional and ion torpedoes (OOC: has the effect of Ion Cannons from SW, but in torpedo form) into the sides of the fleet. The Zaitsevs also dumped many torpedoes into the sides of the fleet as well, a similar number and composition, mixing in a few antimatter torpedoes, about 400 in all of the Mark 1s and 100 of the Mark 2s, in their attack.

Point Defenses were still active, all the while.....and after they fired, they began initiating ECM jamming frequencies at multiple frequencies, targeting the foe and hoping to slow or otherwise retard his response.

The Allanean craft continued to accelerate – 10G, 20G, now 600 G of acceleration were pushing against the power of the inertial dampeners. And while these devices where able to withstand much, much more, what would happen if they were, say, hit by a cannon round? The Allaneans soon found out – the hard way.

Carrier USS Navarrone was hit by multiple rounds from the anti-matter torpedoes, and the anti-inertial dampeners simply died out in a single crack. Within second, the crew of the ship was dead, even though engines where still working, pushing the ship along like an immense and pointless decoy. Seconds later, it was hit by several Demolisher guns, and turned to dust as it went.

Drones Active: 12,500

But the Grand Admiral had a plan of his own. From the ships flanking the Allanean fleet, dozens of barrel-shaped devices were dropped out. Lacking the accelerating engine of the actual ships, the devices would be left behind – and within seconds, they started to explode.

A 150-megaton bomb’s fireball punps out immense amounts of heat and radiation - very useful against attacking missiles, especially combined with traditional means of point-defense.

Seconds later, tons of Minovsky Particles began to be pumped out into the trail of the Allanean ships, disrupting targeting them from behind. And the Allaneans simply pushed on.

“Sir, we are approaching the second layer of stations!”

“I remain unconcerned. Fire a dozen of Miriel Missiles.”

A Miriel Missile is a truly awesome design. Essentially, it is the 1950’s atomic rocket, reborn in the age of faster-then-light travel. It’s STL drive is simply a series of atomic explosions, pumping under an Orion-Drive dish – there is nothing about this missile that could not be built in the 1960’s with enough money.

As the missiles begin to depart from the Allanean capital craft, their immense size is readily apparent. Each of them carries approximately 150,000 tons of nuclear weapons – oldtech designs from the Twentieth century. Even then, 300,000 1.5 megaton warheads per missile – the kind that would be called strategic back in the day – are not to be scoffed at. The MIRVs are launched – and detonate at and all around the station and against their hulls, with the primary goal of clearing out any mines.

Some are shot down, and some merely push onwards, into the endless dark of space. Some of the missiles will be taken down by point-defense before they even launch the MIRVs, but thankfully, the fighter umbrella will hopefully protect them from that.

Drones Active: 10,465

“Sir, we are ready to pass the second layer of stations, should we fire at them?”

“No. Now, the Zaitzevs…. target ten.”

Now, the Cruentus B missile buses wake up. Each of them targets a Zaitsev with an array of missiles – 1,500 Kinetic Fragmentation missiles, five hundred heavy nuclear missiles, and ten thousand medium kinetic missiles. Yes, that’s a lot of missiles. But at least that’s some assurance that at least some of the Zaitsev’s will bloody die – not good enough assurance, unfortunately.

OOC: The Cruentus-B are basically Cruentus craft (http://www.freewebs.com/seraphim_military/jilshipdata.htm) except with better engines so they can keep up with the Allanean fleet, and shields.

The Lin Biaos were frustrated by the Minovsky Particles--a very nasty form of ECM this was, and it was angering them to no end. Nevermind the bombs that were deployed to soak up the torpedo fire--it seemed the People's navy wasn't the only navy that threw weapons into enemy fire and did the old remote detonation trick. The best they could do was give very hot pursuit, and move over the top of the enemy fleet and close to them, dumping five volleys of 950 conventional and ion torpedoes in the process on the enemy above. They kept up PD coverage, too, out of need.

"Like a fire bell in the night," to quote Thomas Jefferson, a wall of Point Defenses fire flew up, joined with a massive array of first three volleys of 1,500 conventionals and Ion torpedoes on proximity fuses linked to the IFF to detonate when they got close to the enemy at all, then singularity torpedoes to try and snag as many of the MIRVs as possible. The singularity torps were programmed with timed fuses so that after a while, they would explode, unleashing a nasty, unstable singularity that would last for about five seconds, swallowing up whatever got into its path.

Alone, they would be merely nice to look at. But they were being fired at well over 1,400 in this volley, massed fire from the stations at the swarms of fighters and missiles, which seemed to those New Dornalians in the know to be like Cold War relics. Ah well, they would pay for using nukes only. And if the Singularities didn't get them, the previously mentioned PDs would; they were still very much awake, firing at any enemy they could get, sweeping the skies in interlocking fields of fire.

And just in case, more energy was put into shields, as an insurance policy.

The Zaitsevs immediately deployed their own ECM systems, and so did the rest of the New Dornalian fleet, "casting" the distruptive signals on multiple frequencies upon the enemy fleet, taking care not to "trip on their own feet" frequency wise and mess up their own systems. Meanwhile, the Zaitsevs also threw up their own PDs and counter torpedo swarm, some three volleys of 1,400 conventionals at a time fired rapidly into the enemy swarms. However, a few still got through, and about three Zaitsevs sustained severe damage, the rest sustaining light-moderate damage. The Zaitsevs then repeated their torpedo attack again, this time, going after the Cruentus-B ships and the ships on the flank, and moved closer as they did so.

Meanwhile, the Maos, keeping up PD coverage, moved closer to the stations, avoiding the singularities, and flung masses of torpedoes and Demolisher Gun fire onto the vessels in the front, firing ten volleys of 950 conventional and Ion torpedoes, plus 100 Mark 1 Antimatter Torpedoes upon the foe per group of volleys, concentrating fire by slamming two ships after another with repeated fire. They also began charging their Super Warp Cannons, to fire them into the enemy as well....

In the meantime, all ships loosened their ranks, to reduce vulnerability to fire, but kept a somewhat tighter "loose" formation than usual, given that the enemy had many, many fighters in country right about now.

“Accelerate further. We will be approaching the last ring of stations for half an hour. Fire Miriel Missiles as we approach. Same routine as before in regards to Minovsky particles and point-defense nuclear missiles. Also tell the Cruentus crew they’re free to fire their defensive missiles as well to cut through the torpedos. Oh, and… fire a few C-missiles.”

Yet again, ten Lin Baos were targeted with about 1,500 missiles each. But the battleships also had their own contribution to the business.

From the rear of the craft, several dozen large missiles were fired – as well as hundreds of decoys. It would be estimated that 100 missiles and 1,000 decoys were fired in total, spreading for the Mao ships. While the decoys were harmless, the missiles were gigaton-scale capship-killers all on their own.

Again, the same procedure repeated itself. And again, the Allaneans simply bypassed the stations without bothering to actually shoot at them except to clear the minefields.

Again, the same procedure repeated itself. And again, the Allaneans simply bypassed the stations without bothering to actually shoot at them except to clear the minefields.

The New Dornalian ECM signals proved to have been deployed just in time.....the Lin Biaos found the missiles beginning to fly every which way, confused about their targets and some even flying straight by them. The Lins found it much easier to pick off the nastier shots, though an errant missile or one that did not succumb that easily did get a hit, registering light-moderate shield damage. They moved to try and avoid the Minovsky particles, creeping forward to avoid them, Six different volleys of 900 conventional torpedoesand 900 Ion torpedoes were fired, targeting weapons systems and shield generators on the ships below, keeping their formation loose and even zigzagging all the while as they attack.

The ECM also would have made it hard for the Allaneans to target the Miriels exactly, thus sending more than half off course, into the path of Maoist PD fire. The rest that could go on target were confronted by PDs and Mark I antimatter torpedoes set on timed fuses to explode in the packs, in an attempt to prevent then from deploying their cargo and reducing the effectiveness of the defenses. Of course, the mines detected the missiles, and some gravitated to the enemy ordinance in an attempt to blow it up. The Mao Zedongs then went on the attack. They moved in between the foe and the stations, and then fired the Super Warp Cannons, targeting the Allanean carriers and mixing the shots with massive volleys of Demolisher Guns and 2,000 singularity torpedoes into the front of the ships, targeting the enemies in front and slightly deeper inwards.

The Zaitsevs, in the meantime, rode out the Cruentus assault with the help of the ECM, and took light-moderate damage as well, before moving closer to the foe and dumping fire upon the Cruentus vessels again. They may have been slightly slower, but they dumped more fire upon them, firing six volleys of Demolisher Gun and Ion Cannon fire, skipping the torpedoes and moving to split their forces, and attack from top and below as they moved closer in.

And at all times, PDs were going off.....from all sides....

“Oh god, no!”

The carriers Astong and Gerram became flaming balls of destruction, and so did five Cruentus-B cruisers – the Vengeance, Duty, Grasp, Fist of Might and Righteous Fire. Ahead, thousands of fighters were being pulverized by enemy fire – but the Allaneans simply forged on.

“We have two carriers adrift, severaly damaged!”

“Order to abandon ship, forge on!”

And seconds later, the Allaneans exited the FTLi belt on the inner side. Immediately, thousands and thousands of Hughie Mark II small manned craft (30 meters long each) departed from the Allanean ships, spreading in all directions. Only when they were done deploying did the Allanean fleet enter hyperdrive and move towards the homeworlds, leaving the Hughies behind.

There was only one thing left to do. Since those damn furries had gotten through the Maccy Line, and threw up a bunch of vessels to cover their escape, things were going to get nasty. They had to get to New Wuhan quickly, and cover their asses. Fast.

Thus, the New Dornalians wheeled about, formed two V formations and began pushing their engines into overdrive. They then began to move quickly, charging forth, splitting their forces equally and attempting to move above and below the Hughie swarms. Keeping ECMs on to throw off enemy fire, they began firing thousands upon thousands of conventional torpedoes and PDs into the Hughies, the conventionals set on timed fuses to randomly detontate in the middle of the swarm as they charged forth to exit the FTLi field and then activate their Bosun drives.

Hughies:

"We have lost approximately two hundred manned craft, and a few thousand drones."

"Shit-shit-shit-shit. Prepare Maneover Six."

The Hughies and drones began to spread out through the system one by one, launching heavy and light anti-ship missiles at their foes before they left. As soon as they left the immediate area of combat, they would attempt to engage FTL, which would take them to spots throughout the system. They had their mission already.

When a Hughie craft located a sufficiently big asteroid, it would approach it and touch it briefly. Through that time, two set of munitions would be planted on the 'roid. One – to accelerate it towards New Wuhan. The other – to break it apart. This would mean that by the time the 'roid hit, it would be in a shower of miniature sand particles – each moving at the speed of the original 'roid.

'Now try and shoot that down you dirty commies.' – laughed one of the captains as his craft veered off.

'Where'd Command get that idea, anyway?'

'I think some naval academy boy who took courses from the Necrontyr is responsible for it. Let's see if it works.'

In the meanwhile, the seven thousand remaining active fighter drones moved in to attack the New Dornalian fleet.

Main Fleet

The ships were approaching New Wohan. It would take time until the asteroids would arrive, and so the fleet would take a different try on the situation in the meanwhile.

The main 36-gigaton spinal cannon of the USS Furry Fury was targeted at a single point on the planetary shields. "Ready." The Porcupine cruisers re-aimed their 300mm Hellbore spinal guns at the point. "All aim." The other carriers, battleships, and so forth aimed main cannon, heavy anti-ship and anti-planet missiles onto that spot as well.

"Fire."

And fire they did.

OOC: Stat moment: the Hellbore spinals are immense Gatling guns, maximum yield 2.5 megatons, ROF 600 RPM, ammunition capacity of the entire ship is only sufficient for 17.5 minutes of sustained fire using the extended magazines.

Graham, by now out of his own FTLi field, immediately jumped to New Wuhan as fast as possible, leaving the seven thousand behind.

He arrived to find the enemy fleet pumping a massive amount of firepower upon a section of the shields. The orbital defenses woke up, and hundreds of thousands of torpedoes, Demolisher Gun shots plus a large number of Marinesko II fighter craft, Komsomol III Fighter-bombers and Peter Townshend Fleet Superiority Mobile Suits moved to engage the enemy in orbit, throwing up indiscriminate fire upon the enemy fleet and their ordinance. The impact was somewhat lessened, but still, the shields in the section they targeted were knocked down significantly, though the sattelites propping the shields up began funneling as much power as possible to keep the section from collapsing. The fighters and mobile suits, meanwhile, rushed towards the foe, to try and take them out...

This was joined by the Mao Zedongs, who quickly moved upon the Furry Fury. Redploying ECM (which had been shut down during the trip), they moved as close as they could to it, swamping the Fury with 450 of the Mark 2 Antimatter torpedoes and seven volleys of 950 conventionals. The Lin Biaos, meanwhile, and the Zaitsevs moved to engage the foe from the sides, initiating their own ECMs and dumping their own volleys of fire in a similar manner to the Maos, targeting the Porcupines and other ships in the fleet with hails of fire meant to bring down weapons and shields.

The Porcupines were armed with many other weapons additionally to the spinal guns. Indeed, they were literally covered entirely with weapon turrets by the hundreds –inside there was a place for only one person, cyberlinked to the different weapons systems. It was those weapons system that now fired at the Lin Baos, cutting down torpedoes with point-defense while pouring fire from literally of plasma cannon at the Lib Bao ships.

In the meanwhile, the Furry Fury turned with it’s belly towards the planet. The Hell Batteries fired downwards at the targeted spot, as well as several gigaton-yield missiles, all the while as the thousands of cannon it packed turned at the Mao ships.

The other ship continued to pump energy and rockets at the very same spot.

Five minutes later, the fighter drones, too, tore out of FTL and attacked the Lin Baos with renewed ‘determination’ (if you can call it that in a drone), some even ramming themselves into the craft and exploding.

Some ships – two Porcupines, three carriers, and a hospital ships – where destroyed. Slowly, they began to ‘descend’ (or rather, deorbit) unto the planet.

In the meanwhile, on the outskirts of the system, the Hughies kept diverting more and more pulverized asteroids onto New Wohan.

Six of the Lins fell, and the rest were forced to break into two-man kill teams and speed up to avoid the unyielding hail of fire from the Porcupines. The ECM and PDs they threw up made the drone rams less effective, but damage was stil suffered.

The Mao Zedongs were horrified to discover the Furry Fury had cracked the planetary shields, if only for about a few moments, causing fire to fly down into the planet below. AA defenses tried to sop up most of the physical shots, but the energy beams began hitting defenses and other areas of the planet below, causing violent damage to the surface below. Despite a planetary wide evacuation notice, with civilians hiding out in bunkers, damage to civilians was still felt before the shields closed up.

Of course, there was the matter of a massive cloud of debris detected coming at the New Dornalians. The Zaitsevs simply raised their shields and loosened their formations, before warping into the middle of the pack of the enemy, taking care not to go too far. If those damn furries wanted to send space junk at them, well, why not put the Allaneans in the middle of the shit? The Mao Zedongs did the same.

The planetary defenses and fighters simply doubled up their efforts, swamping the fleet with energy weapons and ordinance but focusing on the carriers.

The Lin Biaos moved quickly to repeat their previous fire upon the Porcs, this time omitting the torpedoes and proceeding to saturate the enemy's weapons with a wall of Demolisher Gun and Ion Cannon fire, moving rapidly in a dance of sorts around the Porcs to avoid fire and the inevitable cloud.
-------------------
The Mao Zedongs moved to redouble the efforts on the Fury once they warped, moving to hit its shield systems and engines with a similar loadout as last time, but switching out the Antimatter torpedoes with Singularity Torpedoes, to ensure the most amount of damage possible, before switching out to Demolisher Guns and Ion Cannons en masse. They also threw up PD to try and defeat the drones, and aid the Lin Biaos.

The Zaitsevs also assaulted the Porcupines once inside, dumping massed volleys of Demolisher Guns and Ion Cannon fire upon them and firing three massed volleys of hundreds of torpedoes (950 per volley as a matter of fact) at the carriers and their weapons systems.

All units put up PD fire to protect themselves from any fighter intervention.

“We have cracked the shields! Fire! Fire!”

The Porcupines poured long bursts of thermonuclear hellfire onto the surface of the planet, targeting shipyards and defense grid facilities – hopefully this would make the shield weaker once it came up. The other ships charged towards the Lin Baos, focusing thousands of missile salvos and cannon batteries upon them but it was too late for the crews of five more carriers.

It was too late for the Furry Fury’s dorsal Hell Cannon battery, too. It was shredded entirely, bits of cannon and turrets thrown every where. But in the meanwhile, additional fighters began to appear from the bottom of the Fury – the ship could match the carrier complement fully in fighter capacity, even though it was not so far shown. And while only three thousand fighter drones were left to fight from the carriers, thousands more ignored the combat altogether, rushing in towards the planetary surface, diving into the atmosphere.

Hundreds were cut down by point-defense, but still, within maybe thirty, forty minutes, 9,500 Allanean fighter drones were inside the atmosphere. Indeed, they had even a special fall-back program in case the shields came back on and cut them off all communications.

At the same time, the commander of the Fury gave his troops a strange order. “Listen in to their comms, or hack them. Or something. I want to know as accurately as possible how many of their civilians we killed. I’m screwed up like that.”

The civilian casualties below were less than expected, with many in bunkers and air raid shelters by this point. A few thousand were reported injured so far, with no confirmed death toll.

However, fires had broken out, and property damage was enormous, with plenty of ground defenses and industrial facilities taking hits from the assault. Fire brigades and Army engineering teams moved to fight the blazes and contain the worst of it. Weakened but not out, the shields, primarily based on orbital generators, and the defense platforms in the atmosphere of New Wuhan (which had also taken hits) immediately went back up, and air defenses immediately went online, flinging everything from AA fire (physical and energy based) to fighters and mobile suits that had not gone up to battle the enemy fleet in orbit. They moved on the drones, which were clearly not welcome.

-------------

The Zaitsevs pushed forth, taking advantage of the enemy focus on their comrades by continuing fire upon the Porcupines with the energy weapons, and the carriers with the torpedoes. Weapons and fighter bays were targeted. They increased the intensity of their volleys, firing a lot more shots per volley, upping the torpedo shots to 1,250 a volley. They (and the fleet in general) could thank the Anaconda Torpedo Launchers aboard for the spam; their internal replicators kept a steady stream going as long as power existed.

The ECM and PDs of the Lins kept most of the enemy missiles off, sending them haywire and even towards the foe, though damage was still sustained to shields, given that they had previously charged them. They kept their dance up, keeping up their previous barrage of fire upon the Porcs, playing with their speed and movement to try and avoid as much enemy fire as possible. They aimed specificially for their missile launchers and weapons.

The Maos, meanwhile, kept up their pattern of fire, targeting the Fury's weapons and fighter bays with all the firepower they mustered, dumping thousands of torpedoes at its weapons along with Demolisher Guns and Ion Cannons, along with the Steel Dragon shots, which would aim to try to get through and explode on the Fury's hull, eating at it and using it to make more nanites in an uncontrolled reaction....

"Okay boys, now turn them about. Fire missiles!"

Thousands of high-powered capital-ship killer missiles were launched, mixed with a hefty amount of decoys to deceive the enemy point defense. These were aimed solely at the Mao ships, designed to weaken the enemy fleet of it's firepower.

Seconds later, the attentions of the Allanean fleet turned from the planet and to the enemy fleet.

"Deploy Minovsky Particles!"
By now, the carrier complement was almost wiped out (only five ships were left), but the fleet came together, and hundreds of tons Minovsky particles were dropped out of the craft. Now, if the enemy wanted to attack, they would have to come really close – literally into visual range. At that range, the Porucpines would have a definite advantage.

* * * *

"Sir, we are taking increased damage to the fighter bays!"

"That would matter if we planned to have any of the fighters return, no?"

"What do you mean, Sir?"

"How many fighters do we have in the athmosphere of New Wohan, ensign Smith?"

"Around six thousand. That's all that left."

"Didn't we start with a complement of 20,000 fighters?"

"Yeah. They're just that good."

"Meh. It won't matter in a few seconds. Upon my command, initiate program sequence Quiritus. I repeat, Quiritus."

"Holy…."

"We are Delta – Zeta – Four clear, initiate Quiritus."

"Yes, Sir, counting down… Five."

"Sir, initiating Quiritus Sequence, four."

"Very well. Ready on the mark."

"Three…. Two… and here they go."

The fighters, as perhaps previously mentioned, were not simple fighters. Each of them carried a 150-megaton self-destruct charge.

Now, they went off inside New Wuhan's athmosphere, some ramming themselves into objects on the ground, first.

"Ka…. BLAM." – the furry admiral giggled as he saw the thousands of high-powered thermonuclear explosions flash at once on the planet's surface.

The ECM of the Mao Zedongs proved to be a lifesaver, though this time, more damage was done due to the sheer overwhelming firepower of the enemy. The Minovsky Particle spam didn't help either, Graham was fighting blinder than a bat with his sounders tape shut. He had to get out of there....fast.

As they did that, the carnage unfolded below. Due to the nature of the ND electronics, which were descended from computers and systems from GE-made ships like the Eclipse and tuned by their masters to resist the violent natures of the various energies found in the Universe which they played with, EMP damage was less than expected, though some disturptions were reported in communications and in civilian electronics. The real threat came from the massive fallout and heat, which proved to be devastating to many structures and poor souls above ground, bathing goodly portions of the planet in an atomic firestorm and pressure wave which damaged plenty of cities and filled in the gaps with tons of radiation. Most of the population was inside bunkers and air-defense shelters by this point, but even then, casualties were inflicted by the shockwaves that resulted, swamping underground medical facilities. HQ reported, using a faint signal from an underground communications relay on a secure channel, to Graham, informing him of the situation saying: "Commander, this is HQ. We are under attack. We believe a widespread atomic attack has occurred. Radiation levels high. Communication with aboveground forces flaky at best, aboveground forces report high military and civil casualties, extent unknown. Atmospheric platforms report damage, problems with stability. Civilian Shelters report casualties caused by tremors. A lot of severe wounds, widespread damage. They'll hold for now, but we've got problems still."

Graham could only reply, "Son of a bitch. They got Janet."

He immediately ordered his forces to Bosun Jump to the side of the Allanean Formation, outside of the cloud. Reforming as fast as they could, they immediately resumed their attacks, this time, using hundreds of singularity and Mark 2 antimatter torpedoes as well as thousands of conventional and ion torpedoes, enough to swamp enemy point defenses, set on dumbfire and timed fuses, to ensure some chance of a hit via splash damage or not, fired at what sensors, in their state, could barely make out what were the Porcupines and the Fury. They also fired thousands upon thousands of Demolisher Gun and Ion Cannon shots randomly into the enemy horde.

Outskirts of the system

“We received the signal. We believe that this means the fighters have gone off, Sir.”

“Very well. This is as expected. First of all, divert a few more asteroids. This time, do not blow them up first, there is no need.”

“Yes, Sir.”

Concerted actions of the Hughies sent a few large asteroids towards the planet – they would get there in a few days or months. Then, the Hughies entered hyperdrive, appearing near the planet – but on the other side of the main combat situation, shielded from immediate attack by the Mao Zedongs and Lin Baos by the sheer mass of the planet between them. They, too, could not fire at the communist flotilla, but this was not so far a concern.

As such, the Hughies did not yet fire anything at all. They scanned the planet with bio-scanner, however. “Well, it appears approximately 10 million people were killed in that one. Rather inefficient, I believe.”

“But oh well. We wait for the Admiral to make his move, now.”

“That’s the only option, it seems. Sad, nah?”

Aboard the Furry Fury

“Sir, we have some bad news.”

“Namely?”

“We lost five more Porcupines along with pilots, and one carrier.”

“Oh for the sake of everloving Jesus Christ. Do they really think they’re going to win this one?”

“They’re communists, Sir, who knows what they think? If they were sane, would they be communist?”

Both men laughed.

“Okay. This is what we do. I understand we cannot target their ships due to Minovsky particles.”

“That’s essentially correct, Sir.”

“Can they target ours?”

“Not really, but they can shoot at the fleet formation as a whole, and some of that hits. We can only hit stuff that we can see, though.”

The Admiral smiled – not that this was visible under his suit – and asked:

“Can we see the planet?”

“Jesus.”

“I don’t think he will help. Certainly not the godless commies.”

“So…”

Fifteen minutes later

The Furry Fury turned – though it was not visible from outside the Minovsky particle cloud – unless you were close enough for actual visual range – and again fired it’s main cannon at the planet.

When the thirty-six gigaton explosion occurred, the fireball was almost big enough to be seen from space - 28.7 kilometres in radius. It lasted for several minutes, burning at immense temperatures, vaporizing rock and steel – though it was not clear what damage it would do to the enemy.

That was, however, not the principal attack at that moment.

Now, the Wrath class gravitic battleships, not even used throughout the battle, came into play. They pointed their spinal weapons – quadlinked Deforestator gatling guns at the planet and fired them – just like the previous arrangements on the Porcupine, except with quadruple firepower each. With twenty battleships, they established a combined rate of fire of 480,000 rounds in a single minute of fire – even though the incredible recoil was threatening to rock the ships apart, and the ammunition would not last them long.

And yet, the violence of the Allaneans had not run its course. From each of these ships, two Miriel nos Feanor strategic missiles were launched. Immense – the size of a small cargo ship – they carried vast amounts of TwenCen MIRV’s, each 1.5 megaton in yield. More precisely, each of them carried 15,000 tons of payload – or 30,000 MIRV’s. It remained to see, of course, how many would come through the dense Dornalian PD.

But still, the judgment which Allanea came to visit upon the Worker’s Republic was far from complete.

The surviving Cruentus-B cruisers fire a swarm of anti-ship one-gigaton missiles – 1,000 in total – at the planet, as well as swamping it with hundreds and hundreds of cheap decoys to confuse the point-defense batteries. The Allaneans laugh maniacally inside their ships as the weapons fire – and yet they are also laughing, because they have other tricks up their sleeve.

The Porcupines are not firing – they are docking to bigger ships to reload. But the Punishment gravitic destroyers are. It’s not much compared to the rest of the fleet – but they are targeting the only thing they can target, the planet’s oceans, with their heavy Hellbore cannons, their plasguns and nuclear missiles – about ten megaton in yield, but fired by the hundred from each of the ships.

And finally, from the Fury, hundreds of small missiles are fired into space. Those are not weapons. Those are transmitters, with a single recorded message:

Good day. I am the commander of this battlegroup. I am authorized by the War Powers Act of Allanea to treat with an enemy in time of war. I am offering you peace. The defenses at New Wuhan put up a fight, cutting down as much of the enemy ordinance as they could, fighters and Mobile Suits hunting weapons, orbital defenses firing like mad and whatever Electronic Warfare weapons could be used were used. But it was too late, they breached the shields once more.

The resulting explosions on the surface demolished large portions of whatever survived on the surface, and began to crack the bunkers. A testimony to their solid construction, nonetheless, they finally gave under pressure. The upper levels were compromised, letting radiation, pressure, heat, and the mess outside flood in, and many more died in the blasts. The lower levels were flooded with evacuees and panic set in, as the upper levels were evacuated as best as possible. Even in the heavily fortified HQ, which could withstand a lot of damage, the outer levels were evacuated, and the inner levels and comms fortified for the worst.

Among the ruins, Medical teams discovered a gruesome sight. It was Janet Graham, the commander's wife, buried under tons of rubble and violated by burns. Sadly, they could only take the briefest of pictures, before covering her face and running, radiation quickly flooding the upper levels.

And finally, from the Fury, hundreds of small missiles are fired into space. Those are not weapons. Those are transmitters, with a single recorded message:

The Commander recieved news of his wife's death at the same time. He winced, teared up a little, and said, quickly turning to stone, "Open a channel."

He then said to the Allaneans, his voice increasing in fury: "Peace? Land? Bread? Hardly what I want right now. You think I can be bought with simple offers of peace for land. Well, look at that planet. Go ahead, you goddamn animal, look! If you think I can just ignore that, well fuck no.

It's time we gave Eyesight to the Blind."

He then closed the channel, and then, with the most still gaze, like one found on a person who has witnessed too much, he said, "Kill them all. Fire again, 5,000 conventional, Ion Torpedo, and Steel Dragon volleys, 1,500 of the specialist shells, and as many of the Demolisher Guns and Ion Cannons. Alpha Strike them. Target everything on dumbfire, timed fuses with torpedoes, timed to detonate in middle of minovsky formation."

He then said, grimacing and tearing up again, "Especially that damned....farm. And cue up some music. Eyesight to the Blind, by Eric Clapton. Charge them too."

The Helm said, "Sir?"

Graham then pulled out his service pistol and aimed it at the Helm, saying, "Do it."

The Helm said, "Aye."

Thus, it was done....

The Hughies, in the meanwhile, were not just hanging out on the other side of the planet. They were scanning it with the biodetectors. Eventually, a commander said: “Sir, we are detecting life signs here, here and here. We are expecting these to be some form of underground habitats, possibly bunkers. Expecting population into the hundreds of millions. Apparently the fleet only killed 20 million people this time”

“So this is why we so far basically failed to damage them?”

“Yes. On the other hand, we now can do something that the main fleet cannot do.”

“That is?”

“We are not in a Minovsky field, are we?”

“Holy Tuxes and Linus Torvalds.”

“Fire in the hole.”

Apart fro the various light cannon, engineering charges, and so forth, each Hughie carried anywhere from one to six heavy anti-ship missiles about it’s own length – immense, one-gigaton weapons. On average, there would be approximately two for each Hughie. Now, they were all fired at once, aimed at the estimated location of the New Dornalian Bunkers in a single salvo of 23 combined teratons in yield.

“Sir, do you realize we’re no completely defenseless if they decide to hit us with any big ships?”

“Yeah. But think of how defenseless they are.”

* * * *

Elsewhere, the attack did not do as much damage as it was perhaps expected – there was nothing in the center of the formation, and blast waves are not very dangerous in space. But regardless, another Porcupine was destroyed by the blast, and two carriers were damaged - and scuttled because of the damage.

The Admiral repeated the same question again and again:

“Where’s the help we asked for? I remember asking for it even before we entered the system.”

“They’re coming Sir, they’re coming.”

But so far, no help came.

The evacuees moved down further, the upper and upper middle levels were now gone, unlivable and unusuable. 100 million more died in the blast. The defenses put up a feeble counterstrike against the Hughies, flinging ordinance of some kind against them. The New Dornalian luck was running out....

Her face, smooth, young, with full lips and a come-hither smile, was literally basked in the glow of a light that could only be described as holy. And she seemed to urge him on. Kill the enemy. Avenge her death.

Graham then shook his head, and looked again to only see a screen with the foe. He then said, "Move closer. Move closer! Repeat assault! Spread the fire all over the extent of the enemy minovsky formation!"

The helm said, "Sir, not sure how many specialist rounds we have. We may have enough for only another two Alpha Strikes. Also, there's the Hughies to worry about..."

Graham said, snapping back, "Fuck you, fire the damn torpedoes! Charge the damn Super Warp Cannons then if you wanna whine."

The order was carried out, the New Dornalians moved closer to the enemy. They formed into a candy crane claw formation, and began dumping fire, raking the enemy formation as best as possible, given the circumstances.

Graham liked what he saw, and felt a small, somewhat sickening joy from seeing those ships die. He smiled, and then said, "How are the Super Warp Cannons?"

The helm said, "Ready sir."

Graham simply said, coldly, "Repeat previous attack, move a little closer, and add Super Warp Cannon fire into the mix."

He then heard the song Eyesight to the Blind stop. He shouted, "Queue it up again!"

Noting his unusual mood, they did as he said, both songwise, and attackwise, raking the enemy with fire once more, adding the deadly Super Warp Cannons to the mix as they moved a little closer.

"Oh gods, gods, not the field hospitals!"

The losses were enormous. Six space hospitals, ten destroyers, five of the Cruentus Cruisers lost or disabled – twenty-one ships all in all. But the Allaneans were waiting for a long time, and they did not wait in vain.

Outside the system, in the very place where the original battlegroup appeared, three more flashed in from hyperspace. Some of the ships in these battlegroups were missing or heavily damaged, but they were still here. And they approached, using the same technique as before – moving at high-speed, using an immense fighter umbrella, and launching extremely powerful missiles to clear the area of mines. And with 100 G's of acceleration, they'd hop right through rather easily – or at least that was the hope.

The MacIntyre defenses that survived relayed a warning to what was left of New Wuhan HQ--which sent a message feebly to New Magnitogorsk, which sent the message to Graham, asking for assistance. Graham replied, unemotionally: "The die is cast...and no freaks will beat my hand."

The Helm said, "Sir, the People's Acolytes on ship are offering assistance. We may be able to use their powers."

He then said, unnervingly calm, "Why didn't I think of that? Yes...a way around these miserable animals. Put them to work."

Graham was in top form, unlike his opponent, despite damages. He opted to divide his forces up, using his Mao Zedongs and Bosun Jumping to behind his own FTLi field, before running to match the foe, lining up in a firing line, tighter than usual. As he rushed to meet up with the stations, he began firing salvos of long distance shots with Demolisher Guns and conventional torpedoes, eager to support the defenses. They cast their own ECMs, but it would not see effect until they came into range. Meanwhile, People's Acolytes aboard ships were pressed into service, using their Force powers to try and distract the enemy, filling their heads with hallucinations and disturbing voices to try and make the Allaneans either scared or fight each other. If not, they would be distracted....

The defenses, meanwhile, fired en masse, pulling out all the stops. They turned on ECM to throw the missiles off, and meet fire with fire, dumping PDs, Demolisher Guns, and ordinance, conventional, antimatter and singularity upon the foe, raking their formations and fire with their own with wide ranging enfielding fire, timing their weapons with timed fuses to explode randomly in the enemy ranks or near them.

Lin Biaos and Zaitsevs, meanwhile, closed with the enemy, and began to dance around the Minovsky cloud. Graham's instructions to put the Acolytes to work were in force, and the Acolytes began using the Force to feel out the enemy vessels, aiding the vessels in their dance of death as they began not only raking the ships inside with more fire, but also began to make somewhat clearer adjustments, though they were having troubles, so they would not be much help yet (OOC: Basically, these guys are still targeting as well as I was last time--not well, and still relying on massed raking fire to snipe you out.).

"Oh holy mother of god, will this never end?"

"We lost ten six missile cruisers, Sir. We also lost the hospital complement."

"Mother-smegging great, ain't it?"

"Well, then there is the other option, Sir."

"I thought that was a bad idea."

"Yes, that was a bad idea, then. Then is not now."

"The hell…"

And then, the Allaneans broke out of the Minovsky Particle cloud."

"Prepare missile salvo, at my command."

"Yes, Sir!"

"Timed, automated, missile salvo, Program Epsylon."

"Oh Jesus." – the Ensign paled. – "That's going to be brutal."

Aboard the missile cruisers, preparations were made. Crews rushed for evacuation vehicles, and catapulted from the ships –even though they still were intact.

"Five seconds for evacuation. Ten seconds for Epsylon Program. Five. Four. Three. Two. Go."

The missile cruisers lit up in evacuation vessel exit lights.

"Five. Four. Three. Two. Fire."

The missile cruisers lit up, firing their entire missile capacity at the communist enemy – that would be a total of 450,000 anti-ship missiles of various kinds, from medium to ultra-heavy, and over a million of light PD and anti-fighter missiles. All of these were targeted at, and divided evenly among, the New Dornalian ships – with 25,000 anti-ship missiles targeting each. Then, the Epsylon Program revealed itself – the now useless cruisers became immense, non-reuseable, anti-ship missiles, targeting whatever survived, and ramming it, detonating their reactors as they impacted the enemy vessels.

* * * *

The Allanean ships tore through the McIntyre line with only moderate losses – ten Porcupines and two carriers were left behind. But the United States Stellar Navy still had a few unkind words to tell those who would name ships after Mao. Right now, these words would be expressed rather succinctly.

Simply put, the Mao ships would be attacked by the entire surviving fighter complement – immense clouds of thousands and thousands of fighters descended upon the battleships, first launching heavy anti-ship missiles against them, and then ramming into the hulls.

This, of course, would not be any kind of enough. The missile cruisers salvoed, with a hail of only two thousand anti-ship kinetic and anti-matter missiles each, divided evenly at 1,200 missiles per every Mao battleship.

And yet, this would not be enough. The Porcupines began to target the ships with their Gatling hellbores, hammering away at the shields and hulls with hundreds of megaton-scale explosives.

The battleships took on a single Mao vessel each, and fired upon it with their main cannon, their heavy plasma cannon arrays, and gigaton-yield planet-killer missiles.

And finally, the Battleplates fired a shot each from their immense spinal cannon.

This was going to turn interesting.

The Lin Biaos and Zaitsevs used their ECM and flooded the skies with counterfire, quickly moving back as fast as possible to try and avoid the shots, which were looking more like one solid wall than a series of shots. The ECM did some work, and the PDs and counterfire did some damage. But the damage was done, 45 Lin Biaos were crippled by the assault and so were 40 Zaitsevs by the initial blast. The New Dornalians took evasive action, scattering their remaining units in two-man kill squadrons to avoid the kamikazes, though 15 more ships in total succumbed to their onslaught. In reply, they could only dump more and more fire, hoping to save themselves and warping towards the MacIntyre Line before rushing to aid their comrades at high speed.

The Maos' ECMs, PDs, and even their tractor beams, which were used to shift the missiles off course, kept the missiles and enemy fighters busy, while the platforms shot at the enemy as well with all of their might. If the enemy thought they were going to down the mighty Maos, well...Graham wanted to throw them a wrench.

He simply said, "Alpha Strike, once more. Maximum Setting, make it 11. And queue up the Who's "My Wife." See if you can't pipe it into their speakers."

He ordered an emergency shield boost and immediate loosening of lines to let as much of the fire roll through as possible, though ten Maos went down with all hands, vaporized instantly by the wall of fire, and many more took hits to shields and hulls. He then had his forces move up on the y-axis, and then threw up his own hail of missiles, queueing up "My Wife" by the Who and throwing out at least 3,000 conventional torpedoes and 1,500 Ion Torpedoes per enemy vessel, followed up by enough Demolisher Guns and Ion Cannon shot to color space green and blue all at once, flooding space with enough energy to cover each ship with thousands of shots, though they focused on the destroyers and the weapons on the Battleplates.

And to top it all off, they began charging their Super Warp Cannons. The Acolytes, meanwhile, began focusing their thoughts intensely, piping more loud shrieks and hallucinations, bad rock covers and feelings of intense itching upon their foes' senses....

The Furry Fury and the ships surrounding it did not actually trail the Lin Biaos and Zaitsevs. They were quite content to cripple or destroy a total of 100 enemy ships. And so, while the cruisers, battleships, and coreship continued to fire – mostly to destroy whatever burning hulks that still where a danger, the battlegroup didn’t go anywhere. It just stayed back as the Hughies were sucked into the hulls of the coreship and battleships, to be rearmed and redeployed. Maintenance drones spread across the hull of the Fury to repair the damage to it, otherwise nothing important was done. The Allaneans simply waited.

They were good at waiting.

McIntyre Line

“I want a complete damage report.”

“We lost ten carriers, sir. Also, I had to kill Ensign Smith.”

“What… the… fuck?”

The weapons officer shrugged. His three-piece suit was splattered with blood. “He had gone mad. Thought I was a Dornalian, myself. He and three others wanted to kill me and take the ship over, take it back to Allanea or something.”

“Holy fucking crap.”

“Yeah. I shot him. Others… I shot two more. Then I had to use the knife.”

“God.”

“Yeah. This seems to be a problem on several ships. One of the missile cruisers actually had the captain try to self-destruct the ship.”

“Oh great.”

“We also lost fifteen destroyers to the enemy torpedo fire.”

“This is getting better and better, isn’t it?”

“Yeah.”

“So… yes. Proceed as planned.”

And so, a single Allanean battlegroup, so far undamaged (with losses replaced by relevant ships from other battlegroups, actually) jumped off in a flash of light, headed to the other inhabited planet of the system.

Remaining were only about 355 Allanean ships – versus three hundred ships of the New Dornalian fleet.

“Fire.”

Aboard the Allanean ships, heavy anti-ship ERASER cannon turned and fired. Between them, they concentrated approximately five hundred ERASER and 500 plasma cannon turrets on every Mao battleship.

Further, missiles were fired – heavy, ‘fleetkiller’ missiles, about 100 for each one of the 80 remaining missile cruisers – or 40 per each of the Maos. Furthermore, the ships continued to unload their ‘regular’ anti-ship missile stockpile, targeting each of the Maos with a mix of about 5,000 anti-matter and kinetic kill missiles. This was going to be long, tedious, and brutal.

Thus, a simple offer was sent.

The loose formations of the Maos and the heavy PD fire, plus the ECMs did their best to shake off some of the fire, making it less than it would have been. But ten more fell to the onslaught.

Graham and his group warped to New Magnitogorsk, behind the foe once more. He was too unresponsive to make much of a reply to the peace offer, absorbed in the task of organizing a defense, ordering the Lins and Light vessels to exit the FTLi field, warp to the top of New Wuhan, and wait on his orders.

He then said, replying coldly, "What are your terms for ending combat?"

Graham took one look at the terms, and laughed quietly. He said, "It's not enough for them, is it dear? No, no. They took your body, they took what we had, and now they intend to take my dignity. They intend to deny me memory. They wish to humiliate me. Well, I am behind them, am I not?"

He then looked at his Political Officer, who was by now concerned for his mental health. In response, he said, with a smile: "It is a tempting offer. But the missus tells me its not a good deal."

The Political Officer then said, with some trepidation, "Okay....um, wow. Yeah, I can see what you mean. Yeah. So are you taking it or not?"

Graham then said, speaking to him frankly, "No."

Graham then turned to the screen, and then said, trying to hold back his anger, "Try again. No top of the line ships for option two. And military forces only for option three. And we demand compensation, even a small one, for the damage done, if you intend to take our ships. And besides, given what you've done, it would be hard to collect any banners for civilian production plants."

In the meantime, JRCCC began calling for new forces, hearing of events in New Wuhan. The Shinmei Sect, bored of inaction, was called in at the last minute. Their leader, Grigori Batov, had witnessed the destruction of New Wuhan had live HoloNet feeds, as much of New Dornalia had. All of New Dornalia was angry, and though busied with war, eager to dispense justice upon these murderers.

Thus, the Shinmei New Model Army was readied for battle, and readied for mobilization to the New Wuhan system if negotiations failed (OOC: All ships upgraded with ND tech as of current).

Graham then said, smiling, somewhat forced to keep negotiating by his Political Officer (who gave him a look that screamed "Do it, or you get shot."):

"I would have to speak to the head of the Gamel Abdel Nasser Shipyard. He has no banners as such, but I suppose he can give you stationery or bumper stickers with his shipyard's logo on it. He nodded to his Acolyte adjutant, and instructed them with a whisper to use the Force and all available Jedi Mind Tricks, to try and persuade the Allaneans to accept the terms.

Meanwhile, 50 more vessels were ready from the JRCCC arsenal. These were a new class, upgraded with recent EVA Mark 2 mods, making them essentially drone ships with a skeleton crew. These were of the Zaitsev class, and they were also ready for deployment should negotiations fail.

Also, other shipyards were ordered to make drone ships; this was to ensure things would go smoothly.

Immediately, Graham called for Hazmat teams and Terraforming teams to provide cleanup duty to New Wuhan. They warped in, along with the reinforcements, and began teleporting onto the ruined world to investigate damage. Nanites were sown, and cleanup work was commenced to fix everything up. Meanwhile, Graves Registration and Red Cross, which handled the human side of things, had to handle the mess. Teleporting those who had no more future here off the world, helping those who stayed, and cleaning up was their priority.

In a way, the Allaneans had not really won much. There was a massacre, and wholesale economic devastation. But, they did miss the Gamal Abdel Nasser Shipyard, which would have put the Workers State in serious trouble.

At Earth SSR, the call came for vengance. It would not do for a massacre like that to go unpunished. Compensation was required. And it threatened Robert MacIntyre's career.

Meanwhile, upon arrival at their destination, the ships would try and use their nasty cargo, an onboard computer virus, on any Allaneans they could get their hands on. But chances of that were slim, and this virus, intelligent as it was, was unable to work.

Several hours later, Graham promptly tendered his resignation from the New Dornalian People's Navy regular units, and opted to join Tiger Force. Never gave a reason. Only mumbled something about a "blood debt."

Liberty City

Through the city, troops, sailors, space marines marched proudly, their banners unfolded. They carried in their hands hundreds of banners – belonging to the ships and units of the New Dornalian military that were destroyed by the cleansing fire of the Allanean cannon, by the strikes of Miriel missiles, that perished in the attacks of Deforestator cannon.

They marched through Jefferson Avenue, tanks rolling slowly and silently behind them, thousands of Allaneans watching. It rained, and the water soaked in the New Dornalian communist banners and rolled of the tank armor. The tanks and the powered armor were decorated in the very objects stolen by the Allanean teleporting equipment minutes before the peace was signed – hundreds, thousands of Communist skulls, now repainted in bright colors and shining like decorations.

They marched past the Boy Scout monument, past the buildings of the Department of Defense and the Department of State, and past their countrymen that looked on upon this simple celebration of victory.

"Attention!"

The front column of the parade was already arriving at the enormous Congressional building – the very end of the street. As they approached, the troops began to toss the banner and logos of the Communist army of New Dornalia onto the steps leading up to the building. When they were done, from the building emerged President Alexander Kirillovich Kazansky, and walked down, crushing the defeated banners underfoot.

He spoke.

Friends! Citizens! Allaneans!

You know as well as I do that we have not reached all our goals in this war. We have not completely destroyed the assets of New Wuhan, we have not kicked New Dornalia out of the big war between ESUS and GFFA. However, we have reached out principal goal – we incurred major casualties on New Dornalia, and we have greatly injured the foul communist foe.

You know full well that Allanea no longer needs to fight New Dornalia – as we are no longer in ESUS, it seems. But regardless of that, we have defeated New Dornalia. Don't believe me? One hundred fifty million dead New Dornalians can confirm. Hundreds of mutilated hulks of New Dornalian warships can confirm. The flaming wreck of New Wuhan can confirm – we have shown the world what Allanea's military can do.

We could have done better.

But that is not the important thing. The important thing is one:

We – have – prevailed.

And if we will need to fight the Communist Foe again, we will again prevail – and again the Allanean armored boot shall stomp down upon the communist banner, forever.

This is all.

I would like to thank the soldiers and sailors who fought in this campaign for our security and freedom. May God bless them all.

May God Bless Allanea."
