The Asfaltic taskforce were the first to arrive. As the 15 ships peacefully drifted in space after having jumped out of slip-stream, general Arthur del Leone sat in his chair and scanned the screen with his sharp eyes. The solar system was similar to that of planet Earth, where Tella would be Earth, and the planet on which the Centauri had built a base would be Mars. After having recieved word of the Allied taskforce, the Tellans had pulled back all their ships to build a strong defense around the Tellan planet, its moon, and one other moon in the solar system called U12, where Tellans were mining for metalls and minerals.

Tella was protected by 5 large battleships, 5 middle class battleships, 8 small class battleships and the 2 space stations, while its moon base was protected by 5 small class battleships, 2 middle class battleships and 1 middle class carrier.
The mining facilities on U12 were protected by 2 small class battleships, 8 middle class battleships and 1 middle class carrier.

The Centauri had recently recieved reinforcements, and therefore their numbers were now 100 ships according to sensor scans. Plus 1 space station.
"Hold your current position for the moment." ordered the General. "We will wait for our allied to arrive before we do anything..."

The "ship" that general Arthur del Leone commanded, was hardly what one would call ordinary.
It was, simply speeking, a giant metall asteroid (40 km in diameter) hollowed out and filled with armor, fighter-craft and weapons, like a croissant filled with jam. The majority of it's weaponry consisted of ballistic missiles (30% with nuclear war-heads). Small ones, medium ones, large ones, big ones, and giant ones. Lots of 'em. The rest of the weaponry consisted of phasers, anti-matter torpedoes, photon torpedoes, laser cutting-beams, plasma cannons, concentrated gamma beams and last but not least electronic shock-burst cannons, that could severely cripple or leave fighter-craft dead in the air... if there was any air.

And then there were the mines, that could be instantaneously spread around the ship, creating a perimiter that seriously inhibited the approach of hostile ships and fighter-craft. Instead of having just one big shield, the ship had one main shield as well as thousands of smaller ones spread across the surface, like the scales of an alligator. It was the HMS Ventura of the Asfaltic fleet, known by most as "the night-train", since its captains often used it's shear mass to run over enemy ships, instead of actually firing at them. It was powered by four giant (classified) main reactor engines together with hundreds of smaller ones, and it utilised the Slip-stream method for deep space voyages, which made it visible on enemy sensors for about 2 seconds before it appeared.

Most Asfaltic armed ships were built on the concept that quality is better than numbers, and even if Asfaltum didn't have a large fleet, it still had quite a lethal punch.

Most ships were built on the following design:
The main body of the ship was a cylinder. The whole cylinder was lined with unmanned gun-decks, thus giving it a 360 degrees angle fire-power. Not only that, but when activated, this cylinder would start rotating. Why? Simple. After a gun-deck had fired off a volley, it would be "replaced" by the next gun-deck who would promptly let off another volley, without having to wait for the guns to reload. This way, an Asfaltic ship could engage 3 enemys at a time. By the time an Imperial Star Destroyer would have fired its guns reloaded and fired again, an Asfaltic Ship-of-the-Line would have already fired off 6 gun-decks, and still be going strong. Add that to the fact that damage is greatly spread, and you have a battle-ship designers' dream.

But now back to the Centauri problem. "Ha," the General thought. "I would like to see the faces of those Centauri right now. Just wait until all allies have been gathered... We'll still be outnumbered, but I promise we'll kick ass."

IC :

The Imperial Adventure Battle Flotilla heard of their allies massing to take on the new threat that called themselves the ... Centauri .

Nevertheless , the Centauri would be mercilessly crushed , or the flotilla would be crushed . It was a sad reality .

Upon conducting a thorough weapons and engine check , the fleet reported back to fleet HQ and was given the go ahead signal . Upon powering up their FTL drives , they jumped to hyperspace .

They soon dropped out of hyperspace in a wedge formation , centering on the new WraithII Super Star Destroyer which was fitted with anti-matter reactors and phaser cannons , adding on to the already feared turbolasers and such .

A message was sent to the Tella admiral .

"This is the Adventure Battle Flotilla reporting for action agaist the ... Centauri threat . We expect to be ready in a day or so . Out ."

Vak'll sighed. If a Centauri could be said to sigh, that is. A hiss emerged from past his pedipalps, and his tongue flickered over his sharpened teeth. "Tell me, Yan. Tell me why we're still stuck out here, on this insignificant planet."

A smaller lizardlike creature stood, and looked at him, frightened. It had a right to be. Vak'll had lost patience with the last four of his insubordintes, which, in turn, left him four places higher in the chain of a command.

"We are.. out here, High Lord, because the filth have proved to be stronger than originally anticipated. Harvesting their genetic materials for the glorious Empire is, however, worth-".

A claw shot towards his throat, the three-digits, tipped with lethal, false claws, swinging around Yan's throat. "Faster.".

Yan spoke, smoothly and quickly, trying not to provoke his commander's wrath. "High Lord, we are going to destroy them utterly, but they are stronger than anticipated. You will benefit greatly from this harvest, and you may even gain the power to become Fir-".

Vak'll's claws sliced through Yan's soft throat-scales. "Wrong answer.". Hefting up Yan's body with one hand, he opened his mouth, and began to feast on the soft throat-flesh. Physical dominance was merely one way the Centauri asserted themselves among one another, and Vak'll was not stupid. Without constant intimidation, his crew would begin to have thoughts of rebellion. Only the reminder that he would kill them far more painfully than the enemy would kept them loyal.

And, of course, killing one's subordinates meant that you could absorb their genetic material. Centauri did not reproduce as other races did. With asexual reproduction, the absorption of genetic material was paramount. The absurdly adaptable Centauri body left him with almost fifty percent of his offspring live, a more than acceptable ratio.

Unfortunately for the Tellans, the Centauri never developed genetic engineering. Although their command over the stars never faltered, each of their scientists reproducing themselves to become more and more powerful over time, however, their evolution was simple. The strongest and smartest survived. However, so did the most aggressive.

Thus, Centauri society was a mass of geniuses, each pitted against the other, each trying to reproduce. Combat gods and geniuses, one would not have thought that such a race could have been opposed. However, Centauri preferred killing one another to killing other races.

Vak'll's crusade for genetic material was simple. In order to ensure the survival of the race's genetic purity, children found it impossible to betray their parents for genetic material. Thus, a parent killed by one's child would not be eaten by that child. This was the tiniest margin of safety, when maneuvering for rank, food, and even annoyance would spark a fight to the death.

But it had the power, the size, and the intelligence to fend off the constant assassination attempts from its children-underlings. And new genetic material was required. Centauri were wired for individual survival. It was their selfishness that made them so genetically powerful. Thus, Vak'll needed material that was docile - docile, and obedient. It had found the Tellans. Although they defended themselves, they were positively sheepish in comparison to the Centauri.

It was for that that Vak'll had come. Thousands of Tellan bodies lay in cryo-sleep upon the Centauri command station, the Kythat, tens of kilometres in diametre. The Kythat was the station from which Vak'll commanded his little war.

He had requisitioned forces from the homeworld, his relations coming to aid him. He had realized there was enough material for all - it did not come easily to him, but a hundred ships were better than fifty. And the Kythat could easily subdue any rebellion through virtue of sheer overwhelming firepower.

Besides, without the great herds of Kv*yashat, or food-beasts, on the surface, which he controlled, the bloodlust of his relatives would fade for hunger. Without a doubt, it was food that kept them calm.

And, as he finished hollowing out his subordinate's body, his tongue licking up the last few drops of energy-rich blood, he tossed it aside, negligently. "Ah, Vy'nl. Next in line, I believe? Give me a tactical analysis."

The even smaller tactician spoke. "The enemy have arrived. They are fortifying the area. Without a doubt, we will meet harsh opposition here. I suggest simply using the relatavistic kill-guns we have, and reduce the planet to a piece of burning glass. We may continue crusading elsewhere. If not, however, High Lord, I suggest bringing the fabricators online - we will need additional equipment to produce an efficient defense against the nearby enemy. Mines, fighters, missiles.. we are low on all of these. Those we have given to the yashat, your oppurtunistic cousins, were a waste. They are too stupid to utilize them."

Kv'll smiled. Or, at least, his facial muscles stretched into a peculiar cross between a silent scream and a frown. It was something he had adopted from the Tellans, and he found it most satisfying. It stretched his muscles, and showed off his latest kill at the same time.

"Very well.". Kv'll turned to the communicator, and hissed into it. "This is Kv'll. Permission to activative antimatter annihilation plants one through four granted. Begin fabrication of mines and missiles immediately. Send a team down to the surface, and begin acquiring raw matter. We must be defended before we can attack."

"What? Permission granted, imbecile. This is High Lord Kv'll speaking. Activate annihilation plants one through four. Now!"

Unfortunately for the tired engineer, he was, perhaps, a few seconds too late to comply with the High Lord's commands. Kv'll's tongue ran up and down his teeth, delicately removing drops of blood, flickering back inside his mouth to deliver sustenance to his already tiring body.

"Kill him, and bring his body to me. I do not wish to be plagued by the weak. Those who are fit to follow my commands may survive. If he wounds you, or damages the ship in any way, you may expect to follow him."

Kv'll smiled once more, looking down upon his latest tactical advisor. "That is done, then. Shall we wait? Let the idiot-beasts come to us, and we shall kill them. That is my command. Gauge their strength, rather then let them gauge ours."

The door to the bridge shuddered open, and a corpse was dragged in. "Wonderful. I feel like being generous. Vy'nl, you may have it. Now, don't let the other hungry members of the bridge get your food, will you?"

Kv'll smiled. Infighting among the crew meant less time for them to plot against him. Their lives were insignificant, the Centauri gestation time could be shortened to a few days, given the correct technology. But his life was...

Aboard the Fleet Command Ship RCVF Apotheosis III

Fleet Master Vlerov studied the ample space that was the bridge of his newly constructed ship. The Carrier, which served as a mobile platform for fighter missions as well as fleet command, lacked anti-shipping weaponry but made up for it with swarms of fighters and bombers. The mass swarms had never been put to practical use, however. So this mission would serve as a weapons test for some ship models.

The Admiral looked over his crew complement and noticed that he lacked any of the Dril'ev on his ship or the others under his command. The required number of aliens had been exempt from this mission, as the Dril'ev weaponship the Ardent Conspirator had been assigned to his battle group.

The Hadjind'nah weaponship, as had been so blatantly eplained by the techs, was in essense a giant plasma cannon of extreme calibre. The ship itself was three hundred meters across, with only fourty on each side occupied by crew space. The ship also reached eight hundred meters long, and the gun reached down to the one hundred meter mark. Supposedly the 220 by 700 cannon had to be sizeable due to extreme energy loss during hostile weapon transit. The weapon had similar qualities to that of the old S-Yamato cannon of the old Navy, and the same two hours of wait-time between shots.

The other ships under his command were the RCVF Krazny VI and Dauntless II destroyers, the Margin Brutality battleship and the three Kobol-made corvettes St. Petersburg, Novgorod and Groznij, and his own ship the Apotheosis. The ships formed what the Navy called an Agressive Negotiation Fleet, and was used for battle groups.

Vlerov looked up, and motioned for the VL-Space jump to begin. A titanic red portal opened, and black tendrils reached out and gripped the ships, which in turn pulled them into the expance. The entry was followed by a rather large bump, which rustled everyone aboard. After a few hours of transport time, the fleet emerged into the given system.

The Vaalite fleet moved towards the planet of Tella, and sent a quick transmission to the defence forces.

To: The Defence Forces,
From: Vaalite Battle Group TV-2

We have arrived to our designated co-ordinates, we await our orders for defence. My ship has sent scematics to your Space Station, we are standing by awaiting orders. Fleet Master Vlerov, out.

THe Skillcrossbones taskforce exited lightspeed. One Goliath Star Destroyer, flanked by two paragon Star Destroyers, was the command of the fleet. The Providence Star Destroyer and the Venator followed behind. The five Correlian Gunships were arranged in a defensive formation around the Star Destroyers. The Goliath Star Destroyer, the command, looked like a regular star destroyer, but the front tip was rounded. The Paragons were slightly wider than an ordinary star destroyer, to hold two powerful laser chainguns. The Providence SD was packed with droid starfighters, and the Venator was filled with a ground force. The gunships were small, fast, and powerful. They could hold their own against a ship twice thair own size.
"This is Delta Taskforce of Skillcrossbones. We have arrived. We will be completely ready for combar within 12 hours." The Admiral sighed, looked over the bridge, and said to his Liueteniant. "What were those guy's in Navy command thinking? We've never given military aid before. Why start now?"

OOC: You do know that we're not really that far away, right? Like, the distance between Earth and Mars? A negligible distance which would see the transit time between the Centauri base and Tella, even assuming the speed of all craft to be a maximum of 0.1 c, under thirty minutes. When you're less than an AU away from the enemy, your stealth ships will be detected, especially considering we're certainly not skimping on detection now more enemies have entered the system.

IC: "High Lord. The enemy have arrived. Two smaller objects are heading towards us at a not-inconsiderable speed. Your orders?". Vy'nl was turning out to be a most admirable tactician, Vk'll thought. It did not alter his orders in any way, and gave him the information he wanted, and never argued. Perhaps Vy'nl would be the first of his tacticians to live long enough to be transferred over to a safer area of his ship.

He ran one claw along his leg, picking scraps of errant flesh off it. He bared his needle-sharp teeth, and spoke. "They may be kinetic weaponry - I want the station's gravitic distortion guns online, and every maser we possess armed. Ready a brace of warp-missiles, and fire them if the enemy come any closer.".

The station's guns swivelled, turning to face the incoming threat. As it stood, the fleet was solely for offensive acts. The station would handle any incoming threat, although the fleet would support it with their main guns, if the trouble continued.

Vk'll hissed in delight as the enemy continued to move in - of course, his sensors had a thirty-second delay; as the use of faster-than-light travel to facilitate sensors was foolish in any but battle situations. But it did not matter. If the enemy had arrived to challenge the Centauri, they would soon find that they, unlike the docile, weak creatures they had found on the third planet, were not easy prey.

Abaord the Vaalite Command Ship, the RCVF Apotheosis III

As his ship awaited commands for a defence formation, Fleet Master Vlerov had ordered a sensor scan of the system. It had many planets, not quite dissimilar to his own. According to his ship's scanners, the enemy was based around the planet just outside of the Tellan axis, their proximity left them at extreme weapons range for a well-targeted missile. But, it was useless to hope that the enemy would not detect it and either activate countermeasures or evade it, as they would have ample time to do so.

The scan completed, and two blips remained the ghostly white against the black screen that was covered in green and red dots, signifying allies and the enemy, respectively. The white dots were unidentified, meaning they could fall into either category.

"Give me a sensor lash at these co-ordinates," Vlerov ordered, and pointed to the white blips.

"Aye, sir. Sensor lash commencing."

The sensor lash was, quite literally, a burst from the active scanners that would immediately tell the operator everything about the ship. The scan was a giant shockwave in terms of detectability, but that didn't really matter as the enemy knew where the defence fleet was anyway.

The data came back, and showed two ships with the markings of the Mationbuds fleet. Stealth ships it seemed. Vlerov winced, if they hadn't been detected before, they had now. It puzzled the Admiral why stealth ships had been used, as one could simply scan the enemy fleet to acertain their numbers. In any case, the Admiral didn't pay it any heed, and he walked out of the bridge and to his quarters to get some sleep.

He turned to one of the crew. "I want to send a message to all allies, patch me through."
A few moments later:

This is General Arthur del Leone of the Asfaltic fleet. First of all, I order Mationsbuds fleet to immediately withdraw the two ships that you just dispatched. We will make no hostile move toward the Centauri, whatsoever. We are here for defense reasons, primarly, and hostile reasons, secondly, in case the Centauri should attack. Since this mission is being lead by Asfaltum, I politely suggest that you ask permission to us, before you do anything overhasted. We do not mean to be dictatorial, but, for the well-being of our forces (and a whole planet) we must coordinate all our efforts in order to acchieve success. For the moment, we will assume defensive positions, and wait for the arrival of Wanderjar. I suggest that we congregate our ships into one group, with the carriers at the core, and the most heavily shielded ships on the outside, together with the ships with the best capability to repell fighter-craft attacks. My ship, the HMS Ventura, will take the lead and place itself in the front line.

OOC: 'totally stealth' does not make something invisible. There are many, many ways to detect something. Stealth merely means something is not detectable for now - like a man hiding behind a bush. It means you're not out in the open, it isn't uber-invisibility.

IC: "Still heading in, High Lord. We are preparing the main guns. Wait.. no, they're slowing down. They don't seem to be high-energy craft, our passive sensors haven't been picking up any emittions. Your orders?"

Kv'll picked at a tooth. And then he looked at the tactical display. A mass of pheromones, lights, and sounds, interpreting a Centauri computer was no easy matter, even for most Centauri.

From what he saw, heard, and smelt.. the enemy would be gathering their strength. A retreat was intolerable. "Any officers with access to the main guns, I want a barrage from the heavier laser batteries. Fire at the clustered enemy fleet; if they remain in the positions our sensors indicate, we should at least fluster them. Do it."

Engines whined, and antimatter and matter collided, progidous amounts of energy pouring into the station's main laser batteries. A range of even a single AU was detrimental in the extreme in combat. Centauri could fight effectively at such ranges, but it was merely sniping at the enemy - such a combat could take days to finish, especially in larger fleet battles.

"Fire."

The order came from the High Lord, and the engineers obeyed. Lasers swivelled to face the exact angle at which the enemy had been predicated to be - the accuracy was hardly going to be perfect, but letting the enemy know they were there.. after three minutes, the Centauri would had had fired fifteen volleys. That was the advantage of such combat - it took quite some time to discover that the standoff had ended, and they had begun to be shot at..

Kv'll ran his claw along the display, hungry once more. Once the enemy discovered they had been firing, in three minutes.. they would not doubt come looking for a fight. And he was well-prepared.

The Centauri shots were not accurate, and when they hit, they caused little damage to the Allied fleet. What was disturbing General Arthur was not the enemy response, but the Mationsbuds fleet. "They're answering fire, sir!" reported a crewmember. "Patch me through to them!" he growled.

OOC: How can you boost something to over 100%? Wouldn't that involve dumping 50% more power than the shields can handle into their systems, and thus simply kabooming whatever projects the shield?

IC: Kv'll smiled. "They are returning fire, tactician. Amusingly enough, they're using slower-than-light projectiles, although I'm not sure why. Perhaps they don't possess the ability to fire lightspeed attacks. However, it allows us to know.. it will be some time before they arrive. We have fired twelve volleys already; and appear to have done minimal damage. I want the radiation shields raised to thirty percent capacity, and particle shields prepared for the alien inbounds. Active point-defense guns, and begin firing at any missiles inbound."

Vy'nl nodded, and began transmitting data to the gunner crews. The advantage of having quicker nervous systems was obvious - Centauri had superior reflexes, and thus could use gunnery crews instead of automated guns for the same effect.

"High Lord, the enemy projectiles are inbound. We are reporting an initial thirty percent rate of destruction, which is increasing rapidly as they close with the fleet. Damage is estimated to be nil. Although the strange weaponry they were using earlier has disrupted defensive fields on smaller attack vessels in two instances of it hitting. We are continuing to fire at your command, although the main battery's annihilation plant may be depleted if we continue to over-use it. I suggest shutting it down so that we may refill it, and have a viable weapon to use against the aliens in the future."

Vk'll's teeth shimmered as he opened his mouth - he didn't particularly like tacticians who offered suggestions. But it was a good one. "Very well, Vy'nl. Bring in several loyal ships for point-defense support, two of the smaller battleships. I will transmit a message to the docile filth myself."

If you leave now, we will not destroy you. You will have eight minutes to comply, or we will proceed with our extended harvest, beginning with the destruction of the Tellan cities.

Translated into Tellan, the Centauri were merciful - in their own way. Of course, their attacks on the Tellan cities had not ceased, at least, not those from the 'gene-spies'. Duplicated exactly, with a single sole difference - instead of proper-sized genetic organs, an antimatter containment field, and some antimatter were put within each of the cloned humans. Of course, these humans were blissfully unaware of their status as city-levelling devices.

However, when the signal was sent.. a tiny quantum entanglement, and suddenly, an innocent, normal person became the avenging sword of the Centauri...

On a city below, Jake Brown looked fearfully at the sky, trying to figure out what was happening. As one of the members of the city defense force, he felt he was entitled to information. Of course.. nobody knew his secret. Not even himself. And, if the fleet above refused to leave.. the whole city was about to find out.

To the helmsman: "Go to slip-stream, and place us right were that Centauri middle-class battleship is. Once there, open fire with all we've got on the nearest 4 Centauri ships." - "Yes, sir!" the helmsman replied.
A few moments later, the 40 km in diameter asteroid, the HMS Ventura, appeared on the outscirts of the Centauri fleet, scattering the remains of the Centauri battleship. It opened fire on the 4 ships closest to it, with all it's weaponry, consisting of ballistic missiles, phasers, anti-matter torpedoes, photon torpedoes, laser cutting-beams, plasma cannons and concentrated gamma beams. But it held back from firing its nuclear missiles.

OOC: Just a question. Why would you hold back from nuclear missiles when you have antimatter torpedoes? Splitting an atom is going to produce far less force than annihilation of that atom to produce energy via antimatter, somewhere in the scale of orders of magnitude, regardless of whether it's a fission or fusion bomb. Nuclear missiles would be pinpricks compared to antimatter weaponry, at best.

"High Lord! A larger enemy ship has materialised from faster-than-light travel! Sensor scans indicate it was the station we saw earlier! It has quite the arsenal, however, I believe, since we outnumber it significantly, we should be able to disable it."

Kv'll snarled, and his tail whipped around the tactician's neck. "Return fire. Belay orders to replenish the main battery's supplies, and begin firing! Gravity-distortion guns, masers, lasers, and all missiles, fire!"

The ship had surprised them. After all, sensor readings of the selfsame ship were coming in from Tella. "Lightspeed sensors. Bah. I want the closer ships to reroute the majority of their power to their defensive fields, in order to avoid damage."

A storm of missiles swung into existence, ripping through the fabric of space to materialise inside the asteroid. Enough antimatter fields to shatter the damned thing, Kv'll knew. Or, at the very least, cripple it. The lasers they possessed were powerful, however, against a station that size, they'd merely slice the surface. No, the fold-point missiles were their best hope, and, at the very least, when they exploded, they'd see the mammoth's engines crippled, not to mention reactors, and whatever else was inside it..

"High Lord! The enemy's grasers are doing significant damage to the nearby smaller ships' shields."

"Order them to return fire. Those ships are not Family ships. They are not mine. If they fall, it is of little consequence to me. However, doubtlessly more enemy ships will arrive. Send more ships into the fray. I want six fighter wings out there to clear any enemy fighters, and magnetic railguns firing at predicted positions of the enemy battlestation."

Vk'll was unhappy. The enemy had chosen to fight. Very well. The switch which would destroy a Tellan city was prepared. But.. perhaps they had not heard his message. After all, lightspeed transmissions would still take some time to arrive at the enemy. Twenty more seconds. Then.. although the genetic material was valuable, the Centauri would not be seen as weak. The city would die...

IC :

The fleet moved to merge with allied fleets to form a combined defensive formation with the largest ships on the outside to take whatever the Centauri could throw at them .

They then returned fire with Heavy Disruptor Cannons which would cause heavy damage to enemy shielding and armor .

OOC: Keep in mind we're engaging at three lightminutes range, assuming that both planets are both orbiting the sun at the same degree - with different radii for their orbits, of course. Thus, the reason lightspeed weaponry is effective at such a range is because you can't detect it - you can assume, but using radar or lidar, or whatever you happen to use for lightspeed detection, will not allow you to detect lasers. Sublight projectiles, on the other hand... Yeah. At close, close range, missiles tend to be effective. At this range, they'll be shot down. With pitiable ease. If you want to revise that, you can.

Abaord the Vaalite Fleet Command Ship RCVF Apotheosis III

"Hold fire," Vlerov ordered his crew.

"But sir, we were ordered to--"

"I said hold fire! Any attack that we can make at this range would not be effective. Unless you want to waste missiles or blow the magnetic coils of our main cannons," the Admiral explained. "An effective barrage needs to be within--"

"Sir," one operator rudely interrupted, "Couldn't the Ardent Conspirator fire with some effectiveness?"

Vlerov, being one to do all things by The Book, was both shocked and impressed by the other's boldness. He thought about the suggestion, and decided to shrug off the Code Two offence and follow through.

"Yes, order the Dril'ev to fire their cannon towards the enemy Battle Station."

"Aye sir!" the commsman exclaimed, and the message was simply put as: Fire, Enemy Battle Station.

In the vacuum, the Ardent Conspirator began to glow a faint blue. After charging, the weapon inside faded to nothing, and then erupted in a titanic blast of energy. The burst hung in front of the ship for one second, gathering the last amout of force it required, then shot off at extreme speed causing the entire ship to lurch and spin backwards. The angry blue blob of energy lanced towards the enemy formation.

"Estimated transit time, one minute, fourty-seven seconds. Impact in three... two... one..."

To all ships:
Cease fire. I repeat, Cease fire. Unless your shots cause visible damage, cease fire.

General Arthur looked at the helmsman. "How much is our damage level?" he asked. "4% damage, sir"
The general frowned. That was a little more than he had expected. But, non the less, they had completely destroyed 1 Centauri ship, and crippled 4 more. "Well, time for plan B." he thought.
"Fire 15 slip-stream missiles" he ordered. "Aim at the enemy space-stations' bridge" he added, sourly.

The Admiral ordered the fleet to hold fire. He knew that a barrage of turbolaser fire at this range would be relatively ineffective when compared to a group of missiles. "Red alert." He punched a few buttons and an alarm blared through the ship. He spoke calmly into the intercom, "Red alert, we are taking enemy fire. Bring the shields up. Be on the defensive." He turned to one of the officers in charge of shipboard weaponry and ordered, "Fire cruise missiles through launch tubes Alpha through Sierra. Concentrate on that station." The missiles were specially designed to burrow through the outer edge of the hull and explode from the inside. Missiles were launched five at a time.

The point of my decision to make it move faster than one would beleive possible, is that the weapon fired is not a normal laser, per se. The entire projectile is basicly a bubble of extremely unstable plasma, which, due to its properties of explosive reaction, makes it into a rather nasty weapon. I just changed the travel time to make it different in manner than a normal turbolaser, if that's not ok, then I'll change it. You can always have it miss, its not exactly the most accurate weapon at the range we are firing at anyway.
Hyperspatial Travel
20-10-2006, 04:42
OOC: ...plasma is still matter nonetheless. And making it different from a turbolaser isn't particularly hard. Seeing as they're <c weaponry, (even if you take the damage/visability discrepancies in the movies into account), you just need to have yours going faster. I may not demand that inertia is taken into account perfectly, but I do believe we shouldn't neglect the 'sci' in 'sci-fi'.

OOC: I'll accept the destruction of my ship (although the fact that you're appearing in the same place as my ship implies you'll have a battleship-sized hole in your asteroid, at the very least), but, if that thing's powerful enough to effectively disable five of my hundred ships for 4% damage, there's absolutely no point in having the rest of the allied fleet.

IC: "High Lord! The enemy have fired! The fleet has formed up to attack the enemy battlestation, and, due to some mischance, their fire has impacted on the surface below! Two ships have had shield mishaps, and a resource-gathering crew has been eliminated."

Kv'll snarled, and, with a tightening of his tail, broke the tactician's back. If you were stupid enough to be the bearer of bad news, you deserved all you got. The beauty of his station, of course, was that it inhibited enemy dimension-wall crossing. The shields they projected had more than one property, and it kept them safe from missiles such as those they had fired at the enemy asteroid.

"Fire the main maser arrays. I want to begin firing relativistic railguns at that ship - we're going to cripple it. All ships who are in range of the higher-frequency guns, move back. Any ships equipped with high-velocity railguns.. commence fire."

The enemy battlestation was powerful, there was no denying that. However, a hundred Centauri battleships were equal to the eighty or so the enemy possessed - as well as their stations. The initial surprise had left them outgunned, however, now, the advantage was clearly theirs.

And, of course, the antimatter missiles had materialised outside a sensor array - one manned by a few insignificants. It looked like a bridge, and the enemy would be properly satisfied when it was blown away, especially considering the shielding was lightest there. But putting one's bridge on the outside of the ship was foolishness incarnate.

Centauri bridges were as far inside their ships as they could do, insulated and fortified. The very last thing to be destroyed would inevitably be the bridge.

Railguns powered up, and began firing, chunks of compressed matter, not neutronium, but certainly not gas, speeding towards the enemy asteroid. It was only an asteroid. If it had been an armor-plated, built-for-battle warship, Kv'll would've been worried. But an asteroid like that... it wasn't built to withstand massive impact, time, and time again.

He smiled. It would be a matter of time, now. They had vastly superior firepower on their side, and.. this would be an oppurtunity to show the human forces that they were not bluffing, in any way, shape, or form.

"Detonate."

In a Tellan city, an electromagnetic containment field deactivated, and.. antimatter spewed out. And there was a hell of a lot of matter for it to react with.

KABOOM! would be understating it immensely. It sufficed to say.. there was no longer a city where there was once one. Kv'll transmitted a curt message to the enemy station. "One city down, commander. How many are you willing to sacrifice, before we tire of killing our prey, and depart, leaving you with a barren planet, and a weakened fleet?"

To all allied ships: Move out of range. I repeat, move out of Centauri firing range, even if that means that we can't orbit the planet.

General Arthurs' plan was simple; to move out of range, thus minimizing damages and making the Centauri waste ammunition.
In the mean time, plan C was being prepared. "How's it going with the virus?" Arthur asked one of the crew. "We're almost finished, sir. Should be ready any moment." What he was refering to was a virus manufactured to only kill Centurians. It had been developed in one of the HMS Venturas labs, thanks to a centurian clone that had been captured. Unfortunately, there were still numerous clones out there, and just recently, a whole city had been leveled to the ground by one of them, killing 15 million people. Tellan authorities were increasingly anxious to end the conflict, no matter what, but the General had replied that everything needs it's own time, and that it would take more than just a couple of battle-ships to fend off the Centauri attacks. The virus was now being massproduced, together with other biological weapons. "If they won't leave, then we'll just have to "rearrange" the "they." the General had said.

"High Lord. The enemy is retreating. Damage to the fleet is minimal, and has been contained. The loss of one Family ship is acceptable, and we are preparing to fabricate a new frigate in order to take its place."

Another tactician. The word 'tactician' in Centauri meant many things, from advisor, to informer, and tacticians were bred readily, to serve the Lords, and to die as the Lords were angered with them.

But it meant little, in the long run. A minor ship had been lost, and far more damage than it had been worth had been inflicted upon the enemy battlestation. "I require more antimatter. However, we will refit the main array one cannon at a time; allowing us to operate at at 90% firing capacity despite our refueling status."

The enemy asteroid was retreating, and Kv'll smiled as they did. It would not be long, before they could bring their full forces to bear on the enemy. A quick, surgical strike, and there would be no more Tella.. This had gone on for far, far, too long.

They had to be prepared to end it, and end it quickly. Once the hunting had been exhausted, new grounds had to be sought. It was a fact of life. And one obeyed the facts of life...

OOC: ...you do understand what a lightyear is, right? It's a really, really, really, really, really long distance. We're engaging at lightminutes. Which is still a really, really long distance.

0.2 lightyears is still an insane distance for anything travelling under c. And it's 2 and a half months travel for light, easily.

Fair enough. The wankery was annoying me, in any case.

Some of it was yours, although most of it wasn't. In any case, the thread is dead, no matter the reason.

I agree... Btw, I'm not really familiar with all the forum slang...
What does "wanking" essentially mean?
and "IC", "OOC"...?

IC means in-character. The part of your post where you're RPing.

OOC means out-of-character, and it's the part of your post where you're talking to other players.

Wanking is... well, I have prejudices on the matter, to say the least.

NSwiki could probably say it better than I can.
