"The nation of Candaron is happy to finally announce that it has become a viable part of the international community. While we have a small population, and are less than moderately powerful we are seeking friendship and honest trade with the international community
Currently we are looking to trade various goods and services. More than recently we have discovered a huge uranium mining reserve which our industries have been very quick to tackle. We are also looking for someone who can help us build our nation and grow, especially in building a viable military force. Thank you, and address all telegrams to our sitting Chancelor, Ariel Benedette."

Before opening trade relations, The Holy Confederacy of New Aeson would like to inquire what types of natural resources your nation posesses.

As said we have vast deposits of uranium we have recently opened for trade, we also have some sparse surplus deposits of diamonds and some other less valuable minerals. Spices and certain fruits are also quite abundant here, as well as fish, and our three leading industries are Uranium mining, book publishing, and trout farming.

Greetings,

The Incorporated States welcomes you to the international stage. Glad to see yet another new face.

I am authorizing trade between Guathic corporations and your nation.
You are interested in building a military, and our automative industry is capable of building some military hardware. We can trade for small amounts of uranium, and give you light armored vehicles such as police trasnports, and basic APCs.
We also have a large Book Publishing industry, and Beef-Based Agriculture. I encourage you to look into trade with those.

I fear we have no oil, and thanks to our scientists and our uranium, we can proudly say we no longer rely on it for our energy.

Guathic, we thank you and your companies for opening trade to us. We are run on a free market economy, so you can set up shop with us anytime you wish. We will begin trading some of our uranium, and we look forward to vehicles you can provide us, also if your people like seafood some of our fishing industries are interested in selling to you, and our people would just love try your delicious beef as well...

Official Communique

More or less you become a puppet state, with the exchange being some theoretical protection, although in the current day and age, it probably makes you more likely to be attacked.

Xavier Manuel, President of the Imperial Republic of Icovir

The Imperial Republic of Icovir would like to know more about this trade offer. Questions:

What would be the terms upon which we trade (such as we must be your ally, we must help you in wars, etc.)?

What type of "goods" does Candaron possess? What types of "goods" does Candaron want Icovir to give to them?

Icovir isn't comfortable about the "uranium mining reserve". Icovir asks that if we become trade partners with the nation of Candaron, a treaty will be signed stating that Candaron will NOT attack Icovir with nuclear weapons or any type of manpower, nor will Icovir do so.

Icovir is interested in trading partners, as so we can build our economy, and Icovir is also interested in becoming allies with Candaron.

Above we have posted some resources that we possess, uranium of course, fish, spices, diamonds, other less valuable minerals (certain metals, like copper, but nothing special there) and of course a very healthy publishing sector should you for any reason be interested in books and other literature...we seek fair and free trade with all, there are no obligation except of course fair and reasonable deals that hopefully benefit us both, as a free market economy there is no real need for treaties, unless you have terms of your own, you'd like to set forth. We seek help in building our military, so weapons, and any other resources or help there would be helpful, also our people love variety so any products, food, entertainment, luxuries or etc. you want to send, our people will probably be happy to buy. All in all we just want fair and friendly trade with all, and allies would also be welcome, we can discuss those terms also sometime if you wish...

P.S: Don't let our uranium intimidate, we do not currently have any nucear weapon capabilities, and we are not looking to obtain any. We personally use them solely for energy purposes.

Blackhelm Confederacy,
The elected council has discussed your offer and we are saddened to say we must reject, we appreciate your gracious offer, but must decline. We are looking to become strong and independant, and we feel your poposition is not in in the best interest of that goal...

We offer you complete military protection and access to our economy as a favored partner of the Empire. Yet, you will stay your own independent nation with a complete right to self rule with no Scandinvan interference from the Imperial government. We ask for in return a free trade agreement and a treaty of nonaggression. Do you agree to this treaty?

Greetings Candaron,

We have recently licensed Hanyou Heavy Industries unlimited export sale of a Light Armored Transport that can serve as either a Police Interceptor or a Military Scout. It can be found here, http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=502973

The resources of beef will of course be allowed for sale. In return, your trout industries may sell to our people as well.

We seem to have two equally large and powerful industries, Book Publishing. I think competition between the two shall help them grow. It's complex and risky, I will discuss it with you if you wish to persue the idea.

Thank you.

The Republic of Groznyj is interested in opening up free trade between herself and Candaron. We are particularly interested in your uranium reserves because we want to switch to near 100% clean energy and the Caucasus and Anatolia aren't laden with uranium. Groznyj is a large and powerful nation, both militarily and economically and an agreement would be mutually beneficial to both our states.

Signed.

Scandinavians,
We thank you for your most generous offer, it seems almost too good to be true, but nonetheless if there are no strings attached or other terms you had, we accept.

Groznyj we also thank you for your offer of trade and accept, uranium shipments will begin immediately, and we look forward to receiving fair payment for it, and some of our independant companies are also looking forward to setting up shop in your nation, may our deals prosper us both for a long time.

Guathic, we also thank you for your trade with us so far, and if you wish to speak about our publishing industries getting together we are open to hearing more...

Greetings again, Candaron

We encourage you to make a purchase in our Incorporated Storefront. It is more likely to expand if we can get more traffic through it.

Now, as for the Book Publishing trade. This is a tricky matter, since one out-performing the other could result in the elimination of the first. Monopolies do not guarantee free trade. Before I push new legislation, I'll give you my options available with current trade laws.

One, is to allow full trade. Your industries try and sell books here, and ours do the same in your nation. They can haggle amongst themselves, and if a licensing dispute occurs they can handle it with the respective copyright laws and lawyers between each nation.

The second is for me to attach a Moderator system to the trade. They will be supplied in number based upon the size of our publishing industry, paid for by that industries taxes and distributing the workload evenly amongst themselves. The Moderators will watch each item offered for trade, and will step in immediately if they see something illegal occur. Licensing discussions will be Moderated, though decisions by the moderators can still be appealed for judicial court review on licensing law.

The first option is very open to free trade. There won't be anyone watching them directly, but they will be more free to simply trade everything all at once and work out details later. This has the greater potential for disaster, but also has the greater potential for a business explosion. I might simply attach a single Moderator to warn me of impending doom for cleanup control.

The second option is very limiting, and costs tax money. The growth will be slow, but it is almost guaranteed not to fail.

I like option one. Your thoughts on this?

Administrator,
Our nation has always been about free trade and capitalism, regulation and higher taxes than necessary usually hinders progress. We are also all about taking risks for bigger rewards, we would have to agree with you that option one is more to our liking...

Encrypted Message to Candaron from Skyetech Industries General Contracting Division:

It has come to our attention that your nation is in need of a military, albeit you currently have no defense spending yet. http://www.thirdgeek.com/nseconomy/nseconomy.php?nation=candaron

At Skyetech Industries General Contracting, we realize that it may be difficult for a new nation to allocate all of its resources, so we have created an attractive little package for you. In the event that you are attacked, our experts estimate that about 400,000 of your people would be able to stand and defend your nation.

What we are offering is to study your nation, from the terrain, to the cities to the people, and help you create an unofficial militia, and create armories and other strategic infrastructure. If you are interested in this, or are able to allocate funds for your defense, please let us know.

~James Perez
Marketing Division

OOC: If you accept this offer, basically we send some contractors to study your nation and help you be prepared to mount an effective resistance if you are invaded. Or, if you want a professional military, we will evaluate your nation and help you build infrastructure (ie bases, supply depots, provide some weapons, etc.). If you are interested, we should probably create a seperate thread.

Encrypted topsecret message to Skyetech Industries:

From The Desk of Warlord General Zax,
Greetings,
You are right in noting that we have not allocated any funds to the defense budget, and this has been a very serious setback for the nation and its defense, and needless to say it has made my job a lot harder. They've placed me in charge of building a defense force and didn't give me any money to do it, so I've been making ends meet by embezzling money from the Avatar (chief priest of our religious and spiritual affairs) that's information best no shared with the public. But listen I'm very interested in your offer, and hopefully one day I'll be able to get some real funding so we can build a real military, but until then I like your idea of building a militia. If ya do a good job I'll personally make sure we come back to you for our defense needs in the future. So let's schedule a time and place to meet, and conduct our business. Thank you for your offer, I appreciate your time.
-Warlord General Zax, commander in chief of Candaronian armed forces (or what little there is of them)

OOC: Yeah that's what I hate about nationstates, the only way you can change your funding is hope to god an issue comes up in the next six months that allows you to do so, otherwise you're stuck. Go ahead and make that thread and we'll talk about this more...
