A few simple steps(if you want a good MT shop):
1: Pick and area of specialisation to start with, be it naval system, aircraft or land vehicles.
2: Research that area as throughly as you can with particular attention paid to the stats of existing and next gen equipment.
3: Make a rough stab a good stat block accompanied by a bit of text about why the design was created, what it does and how it does it for a couple of intiial designs, pcitures are nice but not always needed.
4: Register on the NS Draftroom (link in my sig) and post your designs there for criticism
5: If your designs don't get totally destroyed on the Draftroom or got destroyed and rebiult, it is now time to make a store front. There are a couple of different ways of runnign a storefront, the msot common is to have a main post with links to a post for each offering.
6: be helpful, offer to do the maths, offer good customer service etc etc, in short be nice.
As you can see this post assumes that you want to design and sell your own stuff as opposed to opening another one of the hundreds of RL equipment storefronts, by all means offer a restricted selection of RL gear as gap fillers along side your own creations and feel free to offer "upgraded" versions, just please don't be another person who copies and pastes huge swaths of FAS and wiki and certainly don't just copy RL stats, combien it with your own names and try to pass it off as your own work.
Begin small, have a good general stock, then once you have the means, begin buying production rights from larger storefronts, then begin building upon their models to sell yours. Specialisation will help you alot.
