The TAP-Bianary War (OOC Thread)

There is an apparent need for this thread, not the least of which is the innane technobabble conversation happening in the IC thread that the OP and other crucial participants aren't posting much in anyway. It's a shame really that the thread has fallen apart like it has; it may have not been a perfect thread, but it was getting somewhere most other threads don't. Though I can only blame this on MB, who so far has threatened to ignore the guys HE IS ATTACKING because they are not posting abusively high casualties to his wank-ass technologies. There also seems to be some godmodding by virtue of himself refusing to take damage, though this is apparently typical; I'm not breaking any new ground here so why bother.

As to you TAP... I would stop trying to justify some of your technology with actual scientific sources; something that is wanky but justified by science doesn't make it any less wanky or bad for the RP.

But anyway, discuss the OOC stuff here and all, so we may leave the IC thread unmolested.

Is it so impossibly difficult for you people to reply with OOC posts in OOC threads? Like the one Chrono has been so gracious to link you to twice now?

They might be just a smidge busy trying to bludgeon each other to death with phallic tech-wank...

Give it a minute. Or a day.

Or maybe that TAP already said to be abandoning the RP?

Then why keep posting?

I think he gave up on the RP, but not the war, in which the title encompasses.

I think the RP is a gonner. No way we can solve all the problems.

Then why keep posting?

Why not? It's turned into a "Bash Tarsonis's tech thread" that doesn't clog up my war with that...

I don't know if that is connected at all with the war here, but regardless I'll just say this: Mationbuds, stop wanking. It's more than annoying to see you make three line posts that are very close to godmodding, in which you preclude your opponents from ever winning by bullshitting up technology, tactics, and movements that people could legitimately counter if you gave them a chance.

At least I'm not such a major sorelooser to say "Blows up planet with hidden charges and kills all enemy forces ."

That is just sheer godmod and he never even secret ICly it out . It just magically morphed there , so as the 'secret underground lab' . Thats just sheer wank too .

If he wants to wank I'll wank back at him . As simple as that .

And its mean of you NSJoranhor to call 1010102 a binary man . What if someone insulted you too ? You arrogant little newbie ...

It's his planet, he can do such if he wanted. If you were any sort of tactician, them you would have seen that slash and burn style policy coming from a mile away. I mean, did the automated defenses (which you ignored) not tip you off that the world was abandonded and therefore the former owned might have left some big boobies traps lying around?

Also it is a fucking planet: it is not a grand leap of logic to assume that some secret labs existed somewhere on a whole planet. It might have also been wise to have scanned for such, since you don't ever seem to do that. You just bluster in with super-lasers and singularity torps without want nor care for the trouble you might be walking into.

As far as who has committed the first wrong: that would be you, for not RPing the development of terrasect FTLi systems but claiming them anyway (Terrasecting is rather wanky TAP), by ignoring damage from his Neutron mines, from everything he does, and by all but explicitally claiming the losses your opponents have to take.

And it's normal for most of us around to call 1010102 bianary man, or boy, or some nickname therein. It's also nice to see you're gong back to calling people arrogant newbies because they're smaller than you. Do you ever learn at all?

How 'bout this. If you shut your wank-and-godmod-hole, we'll stop mocking you for your idiocy. Seriously. You godmod, you wank, you metagame, and then you have the sheer audacity to complain about someone being 'mean'. Even is Jorahnor is new (Which I doubt, as he seems a lot smarter than the average new-guy), at least he possesses the capacity to learn. Newbie merely means 'new to NS'. You, on the other hand, have been here for quite awhile. And you fit the stereotypical n00b-template. Hell, you might even be the archetype.

Let's consider this. You have a horrible tendency for metagaming. Remember CW's invasion? The one which you magically knew about before you had any chance of detecting it IC? Given that thread alone, you're a metagamer. If I had a planet with a self-destruct system on it, I wouldn't be telling you about it - you'd merely wank your way out of it.

Also, those of us who enjoy using a non-numeric form of communication call 1010102 'binary-man', or 'binary plus two', or something along those lines. From what he says, he doesn't mind. Probably because he's clever enough to understand that such nicknames are signs of familiarity, and almost friendliness - once you've affiliated yourself with an RPer, chances are you'll abbreviate, or make their name easier to spell in some way. Let's take Chronosia as a prime example. People call him Chron. Mean? No. Friendly? Yes.

Does everyone type out 'Hyperspatial Travel' every time they want to talk to me? If Hurtful Thoughts was in the same thread as me, it might happen. But otherwise, it's 'HT'. Nicknames and abbrevations aren't offensive. Most of us learnt this in kindergarten.

Seriously. Your wankery has gotten to the point where even your staunch ally, 1010102, was complaining about it. Maybe it's time to stop?

OOC :

It is assumed that explosives on such a large scale would be detected by ships sensors ...

Right. So you hide something inside a planet, let's call it a megatron-bomb for the sake of breaking science's last few bones in the science-fiction marriage (poor guy suffers from some serious domestic violence here in NS). Why would your ships sensors detect something that isn't emitting any more energy than something around it? Assuming the planet's an Earth-type planet, chances are you've got biological life milling around, you've got tectonic plates moving on a molten core, you've got storms, and you've got tides.

Those things alone would be enough to obfuscate any sensor to the location of a bomb. Hell, hiding the damn thing a few hundred metres below the ground in a ground of like metals should be enough. Sensors detect energy - whether you're using gravitational sensors, EM ones, or otherwise, sensors aren't intelligent. They can't tell the difference between a lump of iron in the ground, and a lump of iron turned into a sword. They don't know whether the lightwaves coming your way are sensors from other ships, or merely sunlight.

Your officers and the like are the ones who interpret the data - and unless they're scientific geniuses who can interpret damn near anything and come up with an answer based on very little data, and always get it right, chances are you'll have no idea there was a bomb there.
