In an effort to increase Trivalvia's naval presence, the Trivalvian navy has unveiled the first of a new home-built line of warships. Designed to replace the Nightblade and Vorrasi class frigates currently in service, the new Asher class frigate was designed to be a jack of all trades escort, capable of engaging enemy ships, aircraft and submarines.

The Navy has signed a contract with the New Moncton shipyards to build 14 of these frigates; 4 to be deployed with the Home Waters fleet, while the other ten will be assigned to the new Atlantic fleet.

Defense analysts are divided over the frigates. Some argue that Trivalvia's decision for home-built ships will insure greater independance and improve the nation's economy, currently in a recession since the Quadrivalve Archipelago crisis. Others question the value of maintaining frigates at all, stating it would have been better to start out with larger vessels.

The first Asher class frigates will be completed by the end of the year.
