Mitchell Baumkirch had been working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs thirteen years in all, starting work at eighteen years, as a secretary. He was the youngest person working in the MFA as a diplomat now at just 31 years old. Even with his youth he was among the leading men and women tasked with handling his nation’s dealings with foreign countries like Naasha and Surdun. It was a responsibility he loved.

His skill had been noticed by the Minister, Jamie Bladen, and when the situation between Naasha and Surdun had come up, he was called. Go to the city of Southcoast, he was told in a message from the Minister, to host the coming peace talks.

Everything was prepared now. Local law enforcement and army units had secured a route in the city to the Southcoast City Hall, which had been prepared to house the meeting and keep things private, until the talks had been concluded. Police units waiting at the Airport located just east from the city would escort the foreign diplomats to the desired place, and immediately hand security responsibilities to the Army upon reaching it.

General Terenga paused on the steps down from the Imperial jet, surveying the terminal ahead of him. What interested him more were the swarms of police below him, he suddenly became aware of his own bodyguards too, burly, dark suited men, all of them for his protection.

My protection, people want to kill me. The thought had never dawned on him before, but it did so now, and with alarming amounts of accompanied panic.

Composing himself, the General of the Naashan Empire's Armed Forces stepped onto the tarmac and allowed himself to be swept along by the police escort.

Tegram Ilair, the by now very famous leader of the SPLA arrived in a somewhat more modest fashion, while the temptation to bring one of the stolen Naashan NA-3's had been very hard to resist he had eventually settled for an economy class plane ticket to Southcoast, Romandeos.

By doing this he also managed to accidentally avoid all of the security measures put in place for his arrival, spending half an hour in baggage claim before being spotted by one of the policemen who were now frantically searching for him.

A private commuter jet landed at the Southcoast Airport, the passengers stepping off briskly onto the tarmac. The lead representative, Assistant Director of Foreign Affairs Angela Keyes took the lead, surrounded by her Imperial Guard entourage and followed by her diplomatic staff. She was dressed in a simple business suit, her dark hair up in a bun as she awaited the greeting party. Already an aide had a pair of miniature Cravanian flags for the front of the car, the small flags fluttering in the wind as he held them up.

"Madame Director, are you sure it's wise to wait here outside?"
"You boys are too paranoid.", she replied to her Guardsman. "What happens happens."

She straightened up, looking forward at the tarmac building.

Naashan Delegation

Lieutenant Kurt Hartman of the Southcoast City Police Department looked up at the force heading down the airplane stairs. General Terenga, the delegate from Naasha walked with his bodyguards into a waiting escort of Police patrolmen. Hartman stepped up and offered his sharpest, most precise salute to the foreign general.

“General, you will please accompany me to the meeting place.”

Having said that Hartman and his assigned patrolmen began leading the general and those he had brought with him. They were swiftly taken to a spare hangar building, where some lightly armored limousines and cars waited with more Police. Enough vehicles were there in the building to transport each delegation separately to the meeting place.

“If you and those with you would board the indicated vehicles, General, we can get going immediately. Traffic gets hectic around this time, sir.”

Surdunni Delegation

“Where the heck is he!?!” asked Lieutenant Kara Hayes, looking around frantically as she had been doing since maybe ten minutes ago when reports came in saying that Tegram Ilain was late, which was alarming news, to say the very least.

“I think I see him there, Lieutenant!” said the patrolman following her, pointing at a large mass of people moving through the baggage claim area. Hayes looked closely and spotted him following just a few seconds, standing there like a plain tourist.

“…Patrolman Finch,” Hayes said. “What is he doing in the baggage area?”

“No idea, Lieutenant,” Finch asked.

“I see. Well, let’s go fetch him, shall we?”

Not waiting on a response, Hayes walked toward the man.

Cravan Delegation

Lieutenant Jerusha Powell allowed a tiny smile to get through as she spotted the delegates her party was to escort to the meeting place.

“Assistant Director!” she called out as she approached, saluting as Hartman had done and indicating the police escort she was leading.

“If you would please follow us, we’ll get you where you need to be.”

OOC:

Kindly forgive the haphazard typing, but I’m not in the best condition right now. I'll probably be logging out soon.

Tegram decides to get the ball rolling, issuing a press statement before the conference begins.

The Glorious Naashan Empire does not desire war with other nations, no government in the world desires war. But it has been thrust upon us, unjustly you could say, by nations who have failed to read the situation in Surdun correctly. Or, are simply taking the opportunity to flex some muscle against a nation that, while completely capable of defending itself, has no desire to bring bloodshed upon its own citizens, nor on the people of Cravan, Clandonia or Surdun.

We invite international observers to come to Fyrr, the capital of Surdun, and see for themselves these 'atrocities' and 'injustices' that Naasha has supposedly inflicted. For they will not find any wrongdoing by Naashan soldiers, in fact, they will find quite the opposite. Surdun has long been a haven for criminals and terrorists the world over, these unsavoury characters plague the common citizens whose government fails to protect them.

Naasha, in it's generosity has kindly stepped in to change things, order has been restored to the Surdunni nation, it's corrupt and unjust 'democratic' government overthrown, to be replaced by a Naashan-sponsored council of true Surdunni citizens, who care for the wellbeing of their brethren.

These 'rebels' who clash with Naashan forces on a daily basis are in fact foreign terrorists, working with the scum of Surdunni society, who, having been thrown from their places of refuge, are inflicting great harm on the true citizens of Surdun.

The Glorious Empire urges, no, it demands that all foreign military aggression in the area ceases, so that order, and a better life, can be set up for all of Surdun. Once the so inappropriately named 'Surdunni People's Liberation Army' is disbanded a new, better government can be put into place, who will work hard with their generous neighbours to the north to ensure a better future for all.

Long Live The Empress!

The special Clandonian Airforce 747-400 touched down in Southcoast City, the steps opened and the rear of the large aircrafts ramp was lowered down revealing the 4 amoured Range Rovers drove out, the leader of diplomatic relations stood at the top of the steps of the aircraft walking down the steps with his armed guards of the Clandonian SAS, armed with their G36's they looked around the apron where the plane had stopped before climbing in.

Clandonia had sent one of its top generals, General Sir Mike Stewarts along with several figures from the government. What the others did't know there had been a plan to kill the Naashian Delegation, Interior Forces which had arrived on a seperate flight were going to kill General Terenga, they would sort this war once and for all freeing the Surduni people of opresion.

Terenga sat in the hotel bar, having finished his press release, and the conference not starting yet he had decided he needed some rest and relaxation. Of course, little chance of that with these hulking bodyguards all around him. He had tried to send them away once, but had been gruffly reminded that this wasn't Naasha, and that people here weren't entirely friendly to the cause.

It sounded ridiculous, everyone knew that Naasha was right, it was common knowledge, surely.

Well, he'd give them the slip yet, getting up he headed to the toilets, accompanied by just one guard. Getting his laptop out of his briefcase, he told his chaperone that he was going to access some sensitive details, and that since there was noone else here, the guard's time would be better served guarding the door. The General waited until the man's grudging mutters subsided on the other side of the bathroom door, then, feeling like a rebellious teen, opened a window and slid through onto the street.

Alone, completely in his own power for the first time in a long while, he headed out into the city, wondering how Romandeons enjoyed themselves.

A black Range Rover pulled up, very similar to Clandonian diplomatic sorts two men got out and pushed their way through the porters unloading the luggage outside.

'bravo one, alpha team is in position.' said the shaved head man in his late thirtys, his copanion was looking around. They walked into the loby of the hotel, he felt the silenced MP7 under his jacket. But there was no General Terenga.

'Damn hes not here, where the hell did he go?'

'We are looking onto it now.' Said the unknown voice, a team sat in a Learjet at the airport monitoring the operation. High up in orbit a Clandonian spy satellite repositioned itself looking onto the ground area, its lense foccusing in on the target city.

An individual in millitary dress was seen walking down a street.

'Got a possible ID,' said one of the operators of the interior forces.

'Alpha team hes about two blocks down go go go!'

The two assasins ran out, into the running range rover and throllted off downthe street following the gps co-ordinates.

Blissfully unaware of the satellite above him, Terenga continued down the street, glancing back occasionally for the inevitable pursuit of his bodyguards.

Catching sight of the two running men while they were still a block away from him, he darted into a side alley, assuming they were his own protection team.

"Thank you, it would be most appreciated.", she said with a charming smile. Her aide rushed to the car and placed the mini Cravanian flags on the front, running back to join Director Keyes.

"Let us get moving, shall we, officer?"

((We can just skip the ride and start at the meeting place next post.))

'Target spotted!' the man shouted, the range rover proppeled itself up the street then as the markmens climbed through the sunroof aiming the SL-8 at the Terenga as he ran into the ally the sniper let out a three round burst.
Naasha
08-10-2006, 18:59
Fortunately the movement of the car threw the sniper's aim, and all three bullets whined over Terenga's head.

Shit.

Shit.

Shit. What the hell is going on?

Shouting wildly for his guards, who would never hear him at this range, Terenga ran down the twisting alley, at least the many corners and turns would keep him out of the gunmen's line of fire for now.
Clandonia Prime
08-10-2006, 19:02
'Go run after him!' shouted the driver as he reversed back and tried to get to the only exit of the ally network. The two assasins, armed with a MP7 and SL-8 ran down the alley catching the glipse of Terenga as he turned down a passage listening to his squeals for help.

08-10-2006, 19:18
Doubling over panting, Terenga looked for somewhere to hide, spying a dumpster against one of the alley walls he trotted over to it and slid into the dark, cramped and sticky place between the lower section and the brick wall.

Taking his phone from his pocket, he dialled ***, the emergency code.

Guards searching the hotel grounds were notified of GPS co-ordinates of the emergency signal, seizing two of the diplomatic vehicles, ignitions were fired and Terenga's security raced after their principle.

Taking his pistol from under his jacket, Terenga crouched in the darkness, trying not to make a sound.
Clandonia Prime
08-10-2006, 19:25
The men stepped up, they saw the dumpster a puddle rippling nearby with some foot prints. Raising their guns they proceeded to the small space, flipping down the charging handle they flicked off their safetys. Taking aim they prepared to fire at the dark figure.
Naasha
08-10-2006, 19:28
Shit, shit, a thousand time's shit.

Terenga fumbled with his own gun, raising it and firing blindly.

OOC: I'd rather he didn't die by the way, feel free to cap some of his bodyguards though.
Clandonia Prime
08-10-2006, 19:37
The two assasins fired a volly of shots into the area, one took a 9mm to the thigh.

'Shit, he better be fucking dead now.'

The associate helped him limp away hearing the sirens and sounds of motors out on the street, they climbed into the 4x4 and it sped on off in the direction of the airport. At the airport the Learjet had begun its pre-flight checks they would be airborne in 20 minutes and on their way home at full speed.

OOC: OK, I've shot at him a good amount so he could be very seriously hit and wounded now but not dead.
Naasha
08-10-2006, 19:43
The bullets glanced off the wall and the side of the dumpster, one smacking into his shin and another glancing across his temple, knocking him unconcious, this probably saved his life, as the sheer amount of blood made him appear dead.

He was still in the same position when his bodyguards found him.

***********************************************************

He had demanded treatment in his room, it had taken all of the threats charms and pleas that the medics had too offer for him even to use the crutches they gave him.

Still, he was alive, and even more determined to attend the conference tomorrow, someone's diplomats were in for a nasty shock when he arrived.

'Hurry up lets go!'

The Learjet was ready as agents rushed to the plane, the three fleeing agents fled from it the driver and the unhit man helped their comrade into the plane as another person chucked a phosphorus grenade into the back of the range rover. It exploded in a bright white of fire, burning the luxury interior the jet began its taxi to the small private runway it assended into the air joined oddly by two Clandonian X-35's in escourt back to safe territorys.....
Surdun
08-10-2006, 19:49
Ilair was the first of the foreign delegates to arrive at the Town Hall, but then again, his was the cause with the most to gain.

Turning to address the media outside he proclaimed:

"Today is the day that Surdun becomes free once more!"
Clandonia Prime
08-10-2006, 20:09
As the Learjet sped homeward, the mission commander a vetran agent from the times of the civil war spoke into a satellite phone to the head of the CPISF.

'Yes sir, he is disposed off we got away. I must say thankyou for arranging the air support. We should be home within 16 hours, I look forwarding to watching CNN at the base in Scandanvia!'
Naasha
08-10-2006, 22:05
He insisted on going personally, and wasn't taking no for an answer, few Naashan officials did.

Security was paramount, as was proven by yesterday's events, so Terenga declined the waiting police escort and instead was driven to the Conference in a blacked-out jeep.

Ignoring the angry murmurings of the crowd waiting by the Town Hall, General Terenga hobbled into the building as fast as his crutches, and his dignity, would allow.
Clandonia Prime
08-10-2006, 22:14
The Clandonian party smirked at the cripple that had just entered the building. So all they can muster is some piss poor general brought out of retirement on clutches. This thing was a waste of time, Clandonia had bought more important things on the cards.
Naasha
08-10-2006, 22:32
Throwing his file onto the desk, Terenga glared at the Clandonian Delegates.

Glancing about he noticed a lack of representation from Cravan or Romandeos, the chair-nation.
Clandonia Prime
08-10-2006, 22:40
'So, we here tonight from our inteligence services that your armed forces have not stopped and have infact seized a strategical petroleum centre in Surdun. Now this is obvious that your nation has not stopped its military advance.'
Naasha
08-10-2006, 22:45
Terenga raised an eyebrow.

"Naashan military engineers attended on the Palar Fields oil refinery yes, but merely to contain several small oil fires that had broken out due to poor maintainance. According to the cease-fire terms laid out by the Romandeons then we haven't done anything wrong, the Refinery is located north of the front line."
Clandonia Prime
08-10-2006, 22:52
'Our satellite and thermal imageing shows no such fires! Oh what a suprise usual lies of the Naashians again.'

Proclaimed the General, lighting up his cigar and adjusting his rank slides.
Naasha
08-10-2006, 23:08
"To be honest with you, I'd check your satellites then, there are pilot-light fires on the cap of every oil rig on the Palar Field, Naashan Engineers were called to cap two wells which were functioning irregulary and threatening the safety of the oil workers."

Which, to be fair was true reasoned Terenga, even if most of the oil supplies have been diverted northwards, still, not even satellites know what's happening in underground pipes.
Naasha
09-10-2006, 21:14
"Now, when you're done spying on us, I believe we have talks to get down to?"
Clandonia Prime
09-10-2006, 21:18
'The talks are off, we have more urgent priorites to attend to sorry.'

The Clandonian deleagation proceeded to leave the building driving to the aiport in an urgent hurry they rushed aboard the 747 and set off home at full speed. There was a war on now, the few remaining ships around Naasha were ordered to head straight to Ackistan to reinforce the rest of the task force.
Naasha
09-10-2006, 21:20
Terenga sighed, then glanced across at his Surdunni counterpart.

"Well, that was a waste of time, still, one down and one to go."
