The Admiral was tired. These meetings always bored him. They were mostly statistics and daily reports. The only highlight of the meeting would come from the weapons R&D section, but latley even they had just been improving numbers and such. Today was different. Today they had a real idea.
"Sir!" The R&D Cabinet Member, Joseph Kane, started as he saluted, "The boys in the lab have come up with an interesting idea." As he said this he withdrew from his pocket a whistle. "Everyone, you may want to take a step or two back from the table."
The Admiral put down his glass of vodka, stood up, and walked a few paces away from the table. "Proceede," He ordered.
Joseph put the whistle into his mouth and blew. The sound that came forth from the small toy caused what few had expected. All of the glasses on the table shattered, shards of glass scattering like a flock of birds. Even a few of the older Cabinet Members' glasses shattered.
"My vodka," The Admiral muttered, "What is the point of this?!" He was furious, as if he were a bull and Kane had waved a red cape before him.
Kane chuckled, "The boys in the lab think that it may be possible to harness the destructive power of sound as a weapon. Sounds powerful enough can shatter clenched teeth and theroetically bones such as the ribs, jaw and even parts of the skull."
The eyes of the whole Cabinet went wide. "How much power would this take?" The Admiral asked, still as angry as before.
"We're not sure yet but so far we doubt that it could be an infantry weapon," Kane explained, "We were thinking of it as more of a Tank of Naval weapon, maybe even an airborn delivery, but at the moment we doubt that it could be used that way due to the fact that it would most likely dissapate thorugh the air after its release. Do we have permission to proceed with the project?"
"Affirmative. Call it Project Banshee and make sure it stays quiet," The Admiral paused, "No pun inteded"
Within a week the project was under way, the mountians of Gallway made for an great research area due to the little civillian activity there. A Nuclear Plant was already under construction there for the use of the Banshee test bases. Unfortunetly there was little the Hills could do to mask the obvious new military presence in the region.
