Official Message from the United States of Allanea to the Federal Union

As the tensions off Mars are over, we would like to make a peaceful deal with the Federal Union. In essence, we need to purchase an inhabitable system. We have chosen Xenon II for this purpose.

Here are the terms:

1. The Federal Union will transfer the Xenon II system to the United States of Allanea.
2. The United States of Allanea will pay 1550 billion Universal Standard Dollars in installements over fifty years for the system
3. The Federal Union will remove all citizens from the system before Allanean colonization can begin.
4. The United States of Allanea will abstain from acts of aggression against the Federal Union. A state of peace will henceforth exist between the two nations.
5. A state of free trade will henceforth exist between the two nations.

Message from the interstellar relations bureau of The United Stellar Federation of the Federal Union:

The Union relations department has sent a message to the president and cabinet of the union, the response from them is ass follows
--
It is with careful consideration and weighing of the facts that we have decided for your proposal, we have many systems producing minerals and increasing in mineral production already, there is really no need for this system, so affective immediately for the price you have listed we hand the deed of this star to your government, in an electronic form, we shall being moving our citizens and cites shortly, appropriate measures shall be in place to provide necessary information and maps for this system and its planets, however we do have our own proposal to add on to this, we would much think a trade station would be beneficial to both our parties, we hope you consider it

Sincerely:
President Robert Bastidas

Dear Mr. Bastidas!

Feel free to post the station on the outermost limit of the Oort cloud.

Yours,

Alexander K. Kazansky,
Allanean President for Life

Kazansky finished typing and turned to his cabinet. “So, I supposed we need to word the Xenon System Colonization Act now, right?”

“Umm, yes, Mr. President.”

“I suggest the usual routine. Sell off tickets on that big freighter we just leased for, say, five grand menelmacredits each. We give them, say… one hundred sixty acres per ticket. That’s a nice homestead, no?”

“Yes.”

“For the revenue, I suppose we could engender something to the tune of a small tax cut. Half a percent, temporarily targeted to the military-industrial complex?”

“That’s brilliant, Mr. President. Nobody’ll dare to vote against, they’d be screwed in the polls.”

“Yup, but we do need to rename the Xenon system. Let’s call it… I don’t know. let’s call it Elen-Miriel.”

“Isn’t this slightly repetitive?”

“Yes, it is. Do I look like I care?”

And so Xenon System became Elen Miriel System.

Aboard an Ultrafreighter

The immense Zero-One made ultrafreighter tore out of hyperspace with a blinding energy flash that would be noticed by anybody in the system - if there actually was anybody in the system, but given that the last Fedral settlers have already left, the shower of flashes that commenced as several dozen smaller freighters, leased from the Zeppelin Manufacturer corporation, tore out of hyperdrive and continued towards the two planets.

As the freighter (today, a colony vessel) approached the Xenon IV planet, settlers began to turn their eyes towards computer screens and terminals found throughout the vessel.

“Good day, ladies and gentlemen. This is your captain speaking. As you already know, we are approaching Xenon IV, the first planet to be taken over by Allanean settlers under the plan outlined in the Xenon System Colonisation Act. I suppose you would want to make it towards your 160-acre homesteads now. You will be allowed to begin landing within about fifteen seconds, as the ship approaches proper position. Ready for countdown. Fifteen seconds. Fourteen.”

The enormous craft – bigger then the biggest Allanean warship around – began to slow itself down as related to the planet, it’s immense engines emitting hurricanes of flame as it approached.

“Six. Five. Four. Three. Two. One.”

On the Surface

Friedrich Collins, a husband and father of three was the first Allanean civilian to step upon the ground at Xenon IV. Behind him, his landing ship’s pilot smiled as he pressed a few buttons, and a large semiglobe structure was unloaded onto the ground. “Stand back, please.” – asked the pilot.

As soon as they did, smoke rose from the semi-globe as it seemed to sink a little bit into the ground. Within second, the house – that was what it was – was properly in its place. Blow-out devices prepared windows where they were needed, the internal cold fusion generator geared into power, and finally the door opened, a robotic voice saying:

Good day family Collins.
Welcome to your new habitation facility.

“Jesus H. Christ, that voice sucked” – says the father, grinning, cleaning his green-pink hair strands from his face. “How did you mod it, son?”

“Well, Dad, I basically modded a Borg voice from one of the earlier Trek episodes where they appear.”

The father laughed. “Try and get something different, would you?”

“Sure, Dad.”

“Now let’s all go into the house and rest. You and I, son, we’ll go out later and see about ‘em deer.”

On Xenon III

The immense trees fell, cut by the immense laser cutter – basically a laser cannon modified to cut down multiple trees en massed. Within minutes, there was a massive clearing in place where the Allanean Arms TC-4545A Forest Management Device had made its mark.

Theodore Foley nodded as he saw that. “Very well. So what’s the deal? I understand we got immense land grants from the Allanean government?”

“This is correct, Sir. There’s two catches.”

“They are?”

“First, some parts of Xenon III are not seismically stable. Luckily, our claims were located as far from them as possible, but still we may get some vibrations.”

“That’ll be dealt with in due time. Not a big problem.”

“The other thing is that we need to provide a certain amount of mineral resources to some allied nations and non-allied nations Allanea cares about. Namely, we need to provide several dozen heavy freighters worth of stuff to Northrop Grumman, and to Coreworlds as well. So fill ‘em up. Oh, and diamonds.”

“Diamonds?”

“The Diplomatic Service requested two tons of diamond/mithril jewelry to be made by our Personal Jewelry Division.”

“We have one? I thought it’s an arms company.”

“We even have a sexual accessories division somewhere.”

“Tee-em-eye.”

“You asked. Anyway, they will actually pay us for two ton of jewelry made of mithril and diamonds.”

“Beautiful. Did they say what they need it for?”

“No. I suppose it’s gifts.”

“Whatever. Let’s get to work.”

A month or so later.

A single truck unloaded off a small freighter in Vinyatirion, Menelmacar. Then it simply turned and went towards the Royal Palace. The container was marked simply: For Lady Sirithil nos Feanor, Elentári of the Eternal Noldorin Empire of Menelmacar
High Queen and Lady-Protector of Elvenkind.
