Operation: Angola and Zamibia (earth V)

riding on the recent multiracial elections a new feeling of empowerment has emerged in the black african armed forces. this has been carefully manipulated and exploited by the military hierachy as part of the militarys propaganda campaign playing on many black South african civilians perceptions of the ancient fierce warrior tribal empires of Southern Africa like the Zulu and the ancient empire of Zimbabwe.

Angola has the second largest quantity of oil in Africa and is relatively corrupt. and Zamibia has been considered part of zimbabwe by many Zimbabweans and some Zambians. These nations have posed no particular threat to the stability or security of South Africa and are naturally reluctant to be assimilated into the union.

However many South Africans dont see it that way. Their are many disparities in South Africas GDP between all the Ethnic groups and member states. The white minority is relaively well off but the Muslim and black communities gross income is a third of a white south africans at best. This has caused widespread socio economic problems throughout the new state.

and a sense of solidarity had formed in the previous regimes years between all southrn African majority ruled states and the oppressed black community of South Africa. Now many black south africans want to repay the favour for their poorer comrades in Angola and Zambia and "liberate" those citizens. Power is a narcotic and the New government realises that they have to be very carfeful in their actions they take. If they obey arbitrally to the populace the government will become weak and corrupted and if they dont they will be perceived to still be in the influence of the whites.

To amend this situation the government deems it necessary to create a strong and proud black military in Southern africa. to do so the government would have to eliminate the corrupt regime in Angola with a predominantly black South African force and to procure an abundant oil supply to help improve the GDP of other Ethnicities in the nation...

The Jungles of Southern Angola are dense and therefore a logisitcal nightmare for all but the mightiest invasion force. The South African armed forces moved tentavely across the Angolan border knowing that perhaps Vineyardian forces will Invade Angola from the north. diplomats at the Pan african conferance are trying to resolve the potential situation.

Resistance in the border provinces of Namibe, Cunene and Cuando Cabango were particularly fierce and might well be a precursor to much tougher resistance in the centre and the North of the Country towards the capital Luanda.

In the first week of invasion approximatly half of Cuando Cabango was occupied by the Initial invasion force with about all of Cunene and a third of Namibe province occupied. South African forces are primarily concentrating on consolidating their hold on these provinces at the moment untill more Infantry divisions arrive in from Namibia.

Casualty tolls for the first week of Invasion are as follows:

South African casualties:

418 Infantrymen dead

50 logistical personelle dead

989 military personelle injured.

Angolan casualties:

1200 Angolan rebels killed (south African estimation)

3000 Angolan troops captured.

The Invasion of Zambias southern provinces was relatively easier than Angolas. thanks partially to the differences in terrain. The plains that form the copper belt that enriched zamibia with an abundance of copper were straight forward for South African mechanized Infantry who managed to overun the provinces of copperbelt, Southern province and Luapula in a matter of days due to the suprise invasion that overwhelmed the undermanned (militarily) provinces.

this suprise invasion was helped by the fact that a week before South africa invited the president of Zambia over to Cape town to celebrate the victory of the Multi racial elections. The president is now under house arrest in Cape town.

The initial casualty toll of Zambia over the first week are as follows:

South Africa:

120 Infantrymen killed

24 Logistical staff killed

300 personelle injured.

Zambia:

600 national guard killed

300 militia killed

1000 guardsmen captured

The second week of the Invasion of Angola was only partially more successful than the first with Angolan miltants making diligent efforts to hinder South Africas invading force using jungle manuevers and guerilla hit and run tactics.

South Africa in response sent task forces to capture the Main southern cities before capturing the surrounding countryside as South africa could afford to resupply their troops in the cities via air. once the cities were secured Angolan resistance would be cut off from the ouside world and South Africa would eventually gain the upper hand via strangulation.

This theory proofed successful enough as the main southern ports of Benguela and Lobito eventually fell to pressure by Infantry and naval forces by the end of the second week.

despite continuing fierce resistance in the southern Angolan Jungles the main cities in the South have fallen albeit with many casualties on both fronts as colleteral damage was inadvertantly caused to both sides.

South African casualty figures:

600 Infantrymen killed

349 logistical personelle killed

1000 military personelle injured.

Angolan casualty figures:

1700 Militia killed

In stark contrast. whilst South African armed forces were struggling in the jungles of Angola. Lusaka the capital of Zambia fell within three weeks of the initial invasion as the copperbelt province was the countries economic heartland. Sporadic fighting was still apparent in the main streets of Lusaka as demoralized Zamibian armed forces decided to fight on despite two thirds of the Zamibian army either surrendering or being rendered ineffective by dilligent efforts by the South African armed corps.

within 3 days Olifant tanks were rolling though the streets of Lusaka. The resistance movement in the North soon capitulated and within the next week all of Zamibia was consolidated by the South African army.

The area is now under marshall law untill Angola is brought to heel.

56,000 more Infantry units are to arrive in Zamibia to bolster the occupational army in zamibia to 82,000

(The South African Military presence in the Angola has almost doubled to 97,000 Infanty and and additional 200,000 other military personelle. )

It has been reported by South African intelligence agencies that Paolo Rodriguez ( An Angolan rebel extremist) has ascended to power in Luanda to widespread public support.

It has been Imperative to the South African Armed forces to reach Luanda before Paolo becomes an effective rallying leader.

over the few weeks South African defense of the southern and Central Angolan cities remained resolute despite several counter offenses by the well trained and adequatly equiped Angolan Peoples army that briefly created a comeback of sorts for Angola before the Angolan peoples army were eventually forced to retreat back to their shrinking spheres of control in the North of the Country.

Luanda 0500 hours.....

A clandestine operation by an elite South African Infantry unit was launched to eliminate Paolo Rodriguez by stealth assasination in Angolan Luanda.

This was to go horribly wrong.....

A group of Mozambique solidiers were selected for the unit because of their fluency in Portuguese and ability to pass off as Angolan citizens...

The unit was disguised as a group of Refugees travelling in a delipadated truck fleeing the onslaught of South Africa to the south of the city.

However logistics botched the coordinates for the Angolan Refugee camp in the southern Luanda suburbs (from where Paolo was evidently meant to be making a rallying speech) and instead sent the soldiers to an Angolan military garrison in the east of the city which resembled a refugee camp by where the Angolan units were stationed.

Before the captain of the elite unit could realise the situation the Truck was riddled with AK 47 bullets as by closer inspection by Angolan soldiers showed that the Dealipdated truck still bore a South African military Insignia on the hubcaps.

The reconnaisance Gunship scouting the proximity of Luanda realised the situation and in vain rlaunched a barrage of short range missile strikes before being blown up by an Angolan surface to air missile.

However before the Gunship was blown up the Strikes hit a petroleum distribution centre and sent half of the southern suburbs ablaze. Collateral damage is estimated to be high....

South African casualties for the fourth week of assualt in Angola are as follows:

2600 Infantymen killed

787 Logistical support killed

4000 Military personelle injured.

The consequences of these actions reverberated through what was left of the Angolan media and some South African military officials are scared of a potential "interfada" by the Angolan populace.

The southern cities were deliberatly kept quite about the botched assasination attempt that killed apporximatly 500 innocent Angolan civilians in the surrounding area of the Petroleum facility.

Nevertheless Marshall law was established in all occupied Angolan cities to contain the potential "situation" that may erupt if Paolo broadcasts a transmission through to the southern cities of this "atrocity"

whilst this mistake was apparently genuine Angolans will inevitably interpret this differently. and it has shown. After the Botched atempt on Paolos Life. The resistance has shown more vociferousness than before despite the fact that South African forces are on Luandas Doorstep.

Also you may want to make a move on gabon and congo before the United netherlands does, we will help you with that venture if you will gracious enough to concede your claims to Zambia and atleast 1/2 of Angola.)

The South African armed forces are now in control of Luanda. The South African army apprehesively awaits the arrival of Vineyardian forces from the North to Liase at the designated demarcation zone that has been proposed to divide Angola into two Spheres of influence. South Africa to the south and Vineyard to the north. with Luanda being divided into two.

Meanwhile following the occupation of Luanda. ( which was a relatively hard task considering the sequence of events that happened before the invasion of the city.) It has been reported that Paolo rodriguez has slipped through the fingers of the South African amry and is believed to be heading towards Cabinda province in the far north of the country.

South Africa hopes the Vineyardian army will deal with this situation as they see fit.

Violence is still rampant in the streets and Luanda is still in perpetual chaos and Anarchy.

many Angolans are still incensed by the unfortunate series of events that culminated in many un necessary civilian deaths in Luanda.

The Army is working hard to quell the violence by any means necessary and unfortunatly this policy extends to a shoot on sight of key instigators of violence. (I.e. looters, physical violence.)
consequentally over the first weeks of the occupation of Luanda they have been more instances of collateral damage by translational problems between rioting Angolans and South African troops which have reulted in more casualties and deaths than the Government would have liked. The future looks uncertain for occupied Angola with the escalating tensions between the South african army and anarchists in Luanda and other major Angolan cities.

South Africa anticipates the Arrival of Vineyard to start the division of Angola.

South Africa has announced the territorial divide for Angola. our limits will go to Luanda and the city will be divided approximatly into two. we have clearly defined a border:

Free Angola (untill Vineyard invades from the north) consists of Cabinda, Zaire, Uige, Cuanza Norte, Malanje, Lunda Norte,Lunda sol and approximatly half of Bengo and Luanda provinces.

The rest of Angola hereby falls under South African jurisdiction and is now officially a constituent member state of the Union of South Africa under the name of South Angola.
