For the past nearly 80 years the UK has been withdrawing on it’s self, becoming less renown as a military and cultural power. A society that thought power would evade it, and leave the ancient Island nation to it’s own devices.

2007: British Troops remained stationed in Iraq once Americans pull out. The RA suffers terrible losses in a late withdrawal. Because of inconsistency between American and UK commanders a slight military rift opens up between the two nations.
2009: Economic Sanctions are taken against Russia after its leaving Europe, under Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The effects of this action create a political turmoil, which ends with the assassination of the PM, and with a near dissolution of the Labour party.
2011: Death of Her Majesty Elizabeth II, Gibraltar is ceded to Spain.
2011: Prince Charles Is Crowned King, and uses his executive power to end the Embargoes placed on Russia, which Parliament had allow to continue, do to its popularity in continental Europe.
2015: London is declared a Megalopolis, which spreads to what was recently Dover.
and 2018: The Conservative Party under Reginald Ferrow attempt to abolish the Monarchy, and institute a Conservative, Faith based Government. Needless to say it failed but instead of admitting defeat Ferrow and 10,000 Support attempted to storm Buckingham Palace. The King and Queen were killed in the ensuing brawl. Prince William immediately seized control and ordered Marshall law on London and the surrounding area.
2019: Prince William Is Crown King, still under marshal law.
2020: The UN is disbanded and the UK fearing the loss of one of its useful tools for protection and peace passes the Military Reform act, which increases the Military by 40%. Marshall Law is ended.
2022: The UK leaves the EU after infighting about UK’s military buildup and British Banks aggressive mercantilism against Europe’s firms, and various corruption charges against UK EU representatives.
2025: Self-enforced diplomatic Isolation begins. Yorkshire, becomes the capital of a new Parliamentary party which pushes for expansion. Mostly they are referred to as the radicals and have only taken Yorkshire’s seats.
2050: Terrorists, and separatist on the Island of Saint Helens seize the aircraft carrier HMS. Repulse and offer the acts of separation to the UK. Two weeks later England flexes it military muscle and storms the Island retaking the carrier, but allowing most of the terrorists to escape.
2051-2059: Everyone of the crown dependencies, except the Isle of Mann, break away from their mother country and establish themselves as a string of nations. The UK’s military is spread thin as it tries to put down attack after attack on their colonies. Eventually the terrorists are defeated by the RAF at the battle of Pitcairn, ending the crisis.
2060: The Labour Party which enjoyed almost complete supremacy in elections loses the Prime Minister Position to an Expansionist candidate. The dependencies are reorganized into colonies with military governors.
2061: Great Britain’s first space shuttle is launched and deposits a series of communication satellites above the world which link the UK to her empire more efficiently.
2065: Isolation ends as the expansionist government gains more ground. London has yet again become a financial center.
2068: Death of King William V, his son takes the name James and ascends the throne at the age of 39.
2073: The Labour who had lost the majority in Parliament, stages a coup to oust the Expansionist Party. The military splits with the navy and Marines taking the side of the Labour Party. Peter Summerton, at that time Captain in the RAF, leads a strike on the Labour Party battleship HMS Cromwell sinking it in the Orkney Islands. A low-grade civil war follows mostly civilian riots with battalions of marines occasionally attacking ammo depots.
2074: Peter Summerton, recently promoted to Air Marshall, leads another strike team to Leeds where it wipes out last military power of the Labour Party. The conservative party, which was never popular, fell apart after external pressure from the Expansionists.
2080: Through a unanimous vote in Parliament Peter Summerton is elected Prime Minister of England and All her Empires.
2082: The Royal Navy completes its first heavily armoured cruiser, the HMS Gibraltar it was one of the first ships to be armed with a railgun, which has never been tested on a live target.
2089: Peter Summerton assumes the Dukedom of Kent and is elected Chancellor of England for life. He swears loyalty to the king, and promises a “new country” for his sovereign.
2090: The UK buys Greenland from Denmark.
2095: Bermuda is sold to the world spanning BBC and it’s affiliates. The UK has ignored the island but enjoyed selling it for outrageous amounts of money which the BBC quietly paid.

Portsmouth: Only slightly outside London, and has become a prominent center for shipping and manufacture. The city is so located that it is far enough away from London to avoid the crowd but close enough for efficient transport.
Manchester: The last of the old English cities, landed gentry still controlling the city through a system of squires and banks. The city is the seat of the Liberal Democrats who detest the land owners. The tension in the city has attracted many illicit business which, hides behind the gilded doors of the city.
Liverpool: To escape London most large corporations transferred their Liverpool. Notably the BBC, English Airways, the Bank of England (Even though it’s run through government mandate) and Amstrad LTD. The city is mostly inhabited by the corporation’s workforces.
Cardiff: Home of the RAF, and the RA.
Belfast: Home of the Gleenlandish expedition party, who has been digging out the platinum and diamonds from Greenland. The colonial government for Greenland is also located here.
Leeds: The technological capital of the UK most experiments here are unknown to the small populace. The government keeps tight control on Leeds after the rioting and revolt of the political parties.

The UK is still lead by the House of Commons, which is almost exclusively controlled by the Expansionist party. The House of Lords has become a sentimental group and holds no power except create more lords.
Chancellor of the United Kingdoms and Her Empires: Peter Summerton controls the military, the Foreign Service, and trade issues. He has supreme executive power in the case of an emergency. He is also the closest advisor to the monarch and reigns for life unless he should resign.
The King: Has achieved more power since the creation of the Expansionist power, he is the only one who can dismiss the Chancellor although, considering the power Summerton holds this would be unwise. He may also select new members of Parliament at will, which also would be foolish as the Expansionist Party would call for his dismissal. The King is also for the most part a figurehead he does however act as permanent Lord Mayor of London.
Parliament: Still in the same building as 400 years ago although it along with its power has diminished. This body still controls all internal issues of the UK and holds some odd, arcane powers over which it may use.
