OOC: You realize that since my MIGs would use MRAAMs to bring it down, it would be pretty much over your forces heads.

OOC: oh er shite, er ignore the thermbaricla thingy for now, the tanks will just advance. I can do that to your last outpost an Naash.

The conscripts watched, bemused, at the tanks advance.

Army engineers had collapsed several buildings across the main roads into the city, making it virtually impossible to get any vehicles in or out of the western side.

They waited until the vehicles came into range before firing from their previously concealed positions with Javelin Anti-Tank Missiles. As each team fired and was spotted, they withdrew back into the rubble, knowing that short of armoured bulldozers, little Clandonian armour was going to get into the city.

The tanks were trapped in, the first one if the collum was hit by three round before it went down, the crew bailing out, the commander trying to pull his wounded driver out as the M20 burst into flames. One by one the tanks were taken down, 30 tanks were lost in a matter of minutes the other 20 were trapped outside the rubble wondering what to do.

Upon hearing this the Field General decided enough was enough, he orded the destruction of the airport with anti-airfield weaponry launched from Harriers, the MLRS were loaded with VX gas canisters, to try and gas the little ratty Naashians out of their shelters.

'I don't care for the capital, its runined now destroy the airport and get moving onward to Naash.' barked Danant down the satellite phone from Sundya airbase he was pressed for time, the campaign needed to be over as quickly as possible so the international community would not intervene.

Two destroyers around the Castile detected the Jade moving in so quickly, and began hurling depth charges below. They had the Mariner marked on their SONAR, and knew where to aim to avoid her.

Meanwhile the Mariner came about, quickly firing off two torpedoes at the Jade. There was little probability of a hit, but they had to at least try.

The Navarra continued to rock from the bombardment, and the crew knew fully well the runway had to remain in operation lest the pilots above be stranded in the air until their fuel ran out. CIWS sprayed the air wildly as tracers danced, the skies filled with bursts of fire as missiles fell prey to the 20mm might.

The Scandinavian Jet, and it's escort were currently docked at the terminal building of the international airport, the Jade Empress and her entourage waiting for the aircraft to refuel before they boarded.

Sunyan Military Transports were loading the waiting lines of refugees into their holds.

The Prime, and other senior Imperial figures were boarding a Naashan Jet headed for Maraque.

Clandonia Prime had chosen a bad time to deploy their Harrier's bombs.

Projectiles thudded into the tarmac all over the airport, explosions sending chunks of tarmac and shrapnel flying through the air.

Civilian and soldier alike ran for their lives, or dived to the ground. Many were caught outside, and ripped to shreds by the shockwaves of the explosions.

The Empress and her entourage were seated inside a terminal building, which fortunately was not hit.

The Prime, and many other government figures, along with their families were caught in the open however, and some were killed outright by the Clandonian bombs.

In the confusion, it was not yet clear what had become of the Scandinavian and Sunyan pilots and personnel, but with the carnage currently reigning over the airport, it didn't appear to be good.

OOC: I'm not targetting the airport with gas, just the city centre for the exact reason I don't want to kill foreign nationals. I'm targetting your city defenders, the airport is being targetted with anti-runway weaponry which essentially flys along the runway and makes it unusable.

So when your bomb hit a fuel container it sparked off the contents, which then caused chain reactions throughout the closely packed fuel containers.

City Centre

The tell-tale whoosh of shells and hiss of gas filled the city streets. An organised chaos reigned, as men ran to their positions, fitting gas masks to their faces. A few were too slow, and fell, clutching their throats as the deadly nerve agents caused their bodies to spasm horribly before they perished.

In retaliation, the Naashan artillery that still functioned loaded their own pieces with Mustard Gas, and returned fire.

CIWS sprayed the air wildly as tracers danced, the skies filled with bursts of fire as missiles fell prey to the 20mm might.

Naashan aircraft were withdrawing completely now, the last few limping or gliding home, pockmarked with tracer rounds.

*********************************************************

Land-based artillery was still firing, but remained largely inaccurate.

********************************************************

Jade shuddered violently as a depth-charge detonated close to her, a torpedo sailed just over the sub and the crew breathed a collective sigh of relief. Only to be cut short with the grinding jolt of another depth charge.

The vessel groaned as if in agony, and, in similar agony over losing his ship, the Captain ordered them to surface.

********************************************************

The other Naashan vessels were converging on each other and the Cravan fleet. In terms of actual naval firepower they had a slight advantage, however they were outclassed numerically and technologically, and had a distinct lack of air support now.

The Exocet barrage continued, and Despair began to fire her outdated 14 inch Main Turrets at the Cravan fleet too.
Cravan
15-10-2006, 18:07
"Sir, our numerical advantage won't last long...", a young officer said as an Exocet struck the side of the Navarra. "Two more destroyers lost to artillery and missile fire. One cruiser with her ammunition and fuel on fire. So far the transports are relatively untouched, but the rest of the group has taken a beating to protect them."
"How long until reinforcements?"
"Less than twenty-four hours, but I don't know what good it will even do."

The ship rocked again, klaxons screaming in the background. The deafening noise had been going so long the crews did not even think twice about the ear piercing shrieks.

"We're taking on water in sections 3A-6B!"
"Close the compartments and seal them off!", Admiral Karlson shouted as his coffee mug slid across the strategic table, shattering and sending coffee and glass everywhere as it hit the deck. The ship began to list slightly, but her flight deck still remained in operation for those aircraft running low on fuel. It was not known how long that would last, though.

Night once again began to fall as tracers performed a beautifully deadly light show, the area of operations lighting up brilliantly as munitions were fired. And Admiral Karlson thought to himself whether he would survive this night.

The latest Battle reports came in to High Command in The Peoples Freedom.

"Cravan is taking a beating." Said Major Hizzim, aide to Major General Bookke, OOD for the night.

" Yea..."

" Shall we intervene?"

" It would be funny if we sent our new Super-Capital class ship."

" We have two to spare."

" Yea."

Picking up the telephone, the orders were drafted the next morning.

The Empire was such a beautiful thing. The massive Warship sat gently in Port, it's crew of thirty thousand waiting for a mission. It's sister ships were deployed elsewhere and it was hungry for action. When orders came, klaxons blared. The men stirred from their time off, jumping into their stations. A hour later, three crusiers and a battleship tugged the massive vessel out of the Port. The ship then set out towards the conflict zone.

From: The Peoples Freedom

We have heard of your plight and have dispatched the Super Capital ship Empire to your aid. Just the sight of this massive warship should make the enemy surrender his fleets to us.

Prior to the destruction of the airport, Dartia had managed to covertly deliver most of the small arms they had promised to Naasha. The Dartian government wanted to continue sending weaponry, but the risks of doing so had increased dramatically.

All that remained to be delivered were tanks and anti-aircraft artillery systems. Until the Nashaans could provide a safe airstrip for the Dartian cargo planes, Dartian military aid to Nashaa would be stopped.

Before aid was cut off, Dartia managed to send many assault rifles, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, fragmention grenades, sniper rifles, heavy machine guns, high explosives, high caliber anti-material rifles, claymores, and large quanitities of ammunition.

Hopefully it would be enough, but the Dartian government doubted it.

Despair led the way, with Hound trailing in her wake. Both ships and an assorted armada of other frigates and destroyers of a smaller size were sailing directly for the Cravan formation.

The Main 14 inch turrets on the destroyers were booming loudly now, as the outdated but still brutally effective weapons were brought to bear on the enemy that was now well within sight.

Covered by missile fire from Radiant and Raven, the advance is aimed to punch through a section of the enemy formation and get into close action with the Cravan ships, where the technological supremacy of the carrier battle group would be partially offset by the firepower of the Naashan vessels.

Terenga fidgeted, something he was doing more and more lately.
"So... a 'super capital class?' I take it that's quite big?"

"Yes sir, she left port in the Peoples Freedom a few hours ago, our analysts think she's headed here."

"Great, I take it this isn't something we can expect to beat?"

"No sir."

Terenga frowned.

"How long until they think she'll arrive?"

"It'll be a few days, even at her best speed."

"Excellent, we'll finish with Cravan, then withdraw our fleet before the Cravan or Peoples Freedom reinforcements arrive."

"Yes sir, but what of this mediation that Roania is proposing?"

"Peoples Freedom haven't commented, so we'll consider them hostile until they comment otherwise on it."

The aftermath, 7000 dead, nearly double that wounded many did not expect the chemical attack they assumed the Naashans didn't posses WMD. It was decided assaulting the city of Naash would be impossible if another attack like the one occured again.

Out at sea the CNS Vigilant readied a Trident missile, tipped with a non-nuclear 1 tonne thermobarical warhead designed to destroy cities or potential deposits of mass destruction. It would be fired at the city of Naash if the four Clandonian servicemen were not released.

The island was compromised, that much was clear, cut off from the rest of the country by invading Clandonians, it was amazing good fortune they had overlooked it so far.

Slowing his speed, he pulled the boat closer to Empire, and hailed her through his loudspeaker:

The boat ground to a halt again.

"What on earth were you doing? You can't shoot me for having engine trouble!"

The boat lay squarely in front of the Capital ship now, and only about fifty metres away. Given the slow turning radius of big ships, the Empire would have to pass pretty close to the patrol boat.

The boatman cursed loudly and fiddled with the throttle, which wasn't responding at all now.

"Well, if you don't mind I'm going below to look at my engines, if I have your permission that is?"

Pleased with his sarcasm, the sailor climbed down a companionway ladder into the depths of the boat.

Official Statement on the Surdan Conflict

The Trivalvian government wishes to add its endorsement both to the Ackistani peace proposal. It is our opinion that the Naashan counter-proposal would simply replace one occupying army with another under a different guise, wheras the Ackistani proposal would preserve Surdan sovereignty.

The Trivalvian government also supports Cravan's request to assist in the rebuilding of Surdan, provided that other nations are allowed to take part, and that no nation involved in the rebuilding process attempt to influence Surdanian policy or government.

Further, the Trivalvian government also requests Naasha to release its current prisoners of war, and is willing to contribute Red Cross personnel to take custody of the prisoners until they can be returned to their countries of origin.

Finally, the Trivalvian government states that Clandonia Prime, in its attack on Naashan civilian centers, must apologize for these attacks, and requests that the Dominion Commonwealth put further restrictions on Clandonia Prime's arsenal.

Greetings from the Republic of Ackistan!

The government of Ackistan has reviewed requests from the various nations involved in this conflict, and wish to make the following statement:

- We do not feel it is fair to force the nation of Surdun to agree to a mutual defense treaty with Craven. We ask that not be a condition for peace. However, if Surdun and Craven mutually agree to such an arrangement outside of these peace proceedings, we believe it is their right.

- We feel that Clandonia Prime and Craven's request that their POW's be released is fair. We propose that Naasha release all POW's within 1 week of hostilities ending.

- We feel that all demands for apologies should be dropped in the interest of peace, so that all parties may save face. We feel demands for apologies for injustices will only result in similar behavior by the other side.

- We request Naasha drop their demand for restitution from Clandonia Prime. Should Naasha agree, we guarentee Naasha will receive at least $50 billion in aid to rebuild their nation from other sources.

- We also request Naasha drop their demand to maintain a police force in Surdun. Should Naasha agree, Ackistan will agree to provide a peacekeeping force to patrol the Naasha/Surdun border to keep citizens of Surdun from crossing into Naasha to cause mischief and vice versa.

Please indicate if this is agreeable.

Best wishes,
Angelina Whittaker

CNN reporting live from Clandonian forces in Naash,

'Victorious Clandonian forces today celebrated the end of the war with gun fire and drinking long into the night. No more forces were being ordered to the warzone and the fleets began preparing to set sail for home. The war has deeply scarred Clandonia with over 8000 service personal killed in the hostilies many wondered why the government did not press on further anhilating the animal people of Naasha.

Ackistan however, the pesky little worm as many in Clandonia call it has been praised for its peace talks and agreement with both sides. Clandonia military officials have stated the war was a success achieving the aim ofr the prisoner release and the destruction of the Naashan Military to prevent further attacks against Surdun.

The arsenal is under the laws of the Dominion Commonwealth. They were opened up for the attacks on his civilians to use however he wanted to. But that arsenal has been ordered to stand down, which it has done that.

The only way it will be opened it for me to order and allow it.

Greetings from the Republic of Ackistan!

We regret that Ackistan is not a safe place for these peace talks to take place as our region is currently very unstable.

However, we wish to offer our naval vessel, The Golden Hine, as a place for the peace treaty to be signed. The Golden Hine is a HSV 2 Swift High Speed Catamaran. It is capable of landing helicopters and is fast enough to arrive near Surdun and Naasha in a day or so.

We also offer The Golden Hine as a location for POW exchanges to take place.

Best wishes,

Very well the draft treaty is laid out below:

- Hostilities cease between the nations of Naasha, Surdun, Cravan and Clandonia Prime.

- Surdun will be awarded independance from the Naashan Empire.

- Any and all military forces in the territory of another of the treaty-nations will be withdrawn.

- All Prisoners of War will be returned to their respective countries.

- Ackistan will provide peacekeepers to patrol the Naasha-Surdun border.

- An international aid fund will be set up to help repair the damage inflicted by this war. This will controlled by Ackistan.

Add these to the treaty…

- The Dominion will provide peacekeepers to patrol the Naasha-Surdun border.

- The Dominion will send in crews to help rebuilt both Naasha and Surdun

- The leader of Naasha will have to wear clown make up on her face every day until Count JWolf says to stop.

We do not mean to cause offence, but a Dominion presence is not going to help the peace very much at all.

You fought Commonwealth members not the Dominion. You did not fight the Dominion. The Dominion and the Dominion Commonwealth are two types of horses. There should not be anything wrong with peacekeepers from the Dominion being there to safe guard the border. We take honor unlike one Commonwealth state, we will not take this as opening to invade your nation.

The last Clandonian soldier will be out of the country by the end of the week. The conflict has said to have cost $1.2 billion Clanders, a costly price for the promise to bring peace to Surdun.

Greetings from the Republic of Ackistan!

We are pleased to announce that we have raised $214 billion to fund rebuilding of Surdun and Naasha. The aid package will be delivered over a period of five years. Unused funds will earn interest until they are spent. Thus, each nation will receive $115 billion total. Aid will continue to be delivered provided the terms of peace are followed. This aid is not intended to fund your militaries, but you are of course welcome to fund your military with your own money.

Aid Delivery Timetable
$30 billion - delivered immediately
$30 billion - delivered in 6 months
$20 billion - delivered in 1 year
$15 billion - delivered in 2 years
$10 billion - delivered in 3 years
$5 billion - delivered in 4 years
$5 billion - delivered in 5 years

Additionally, $80 billion in funds have been raised to aid refugees, who have fled the region. This money is being distributed to nations, who have opened their borders to your refugees, to provide the refugees with the essentials to start their lives in their new homes.

Our peacekeeping force is being organized, and should arrive in three weeks. Currently, our plan is to establish a 2-mile-wide demilitarized zone along the Surdun/Naasha border, which our peacekeepers will patrol.

Ackistan's 2nd Carrier Strike group will escort our peacekeepers to the region. Most of that group will depart once the demilitarized zone has been established, leaving behind a handful of vessels.

The peacekeeping force will be geared towards keeping peace not waging war. We won't be bringing main battle tanks, heavy artillery, and similar systems into the region. The vehicles we are bringing will mostly consist of jeeps, trucks, armored personnel carriers, helicopters, and scout vehicles. For the safety of all involved, our peacekeepers will be armed with a number of non-lethal weapon systems in addition to their usual weaponry.

Best wishes,
Angelina Whittaker
Secretary of State

OOC: I am not sure how large my peacekeeping force will be. How long is the Surdun/Naahsa border anyway? Also, I am curious if there is a natural barrier along your border (like a river)?

OOC: The border, is dominated by a mountain range. There are three main passes through these mountains, all located south of the city of Naash. Traditionally Naasha has control over these passes but we will give them up to the peacekeeprs.

The mountains are also riddled with small passes, many of which are icebound and frigid. It would take a sizeable ground force to protect them all, so helicopter patrols would probably be a good idea.

It was late in the afternoon, when Ackistan's 2nd Carrier Strike Group finally approached within sight of the Kurdun/Naasha coast. It would be dark soon, so it was decided deploying the peacekeeping force would wait until tomorrow.

In short order, communications officers aboard the RAS Vindicator had contacted the Surdun and Naashan governments to advise them of their arrival. As they did so, 2 Harriers and a Predator took off to conduct surveillance runs of what would soon be the demilitarized zone.
The Transylvania
18-10-2006, 19:50
Meanwhile in the Dominion, their peacekeepers were being prepared to board transport planes to head to the demilitarized zone and join up with the peacekeepers from Ackistan. Oh that sounds like some fun. The Dominion forced their fleet from trying to blockade a Commonwealth state then that Commonwealth state attacks there. A funny thing, if you were on the outside watching it all go down.

It did not take that long to find out the Surdun/Naasha border is dominated by a mountain range. Dominion satellites found out that the mountains are riddled with small passes but have three main passes through these mountains, all located south of the city of Naash. Those would be watch by most of the Dominionite peacekeepers. Small teams could keep an eye on the other small passes.

And after finding out that the peacekeepers would need to deal with mountains, the Dominionite peacekeepers would have to be from the 7th Dragon Slayers (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y101/CountJWolf/7th.jpg) and the 14th Mason's Wolves (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y101/CountJWolf/14th.jpg) as their support soldiers. They would have vehicles, helicopters and non-lethal weapons along with their lethal weapons. It would take hours to load the peacekeepers and the vehicles.

That is about what I was planning to send. I've been debating 500 to 1,000. Since we are only here to patrol some mountain passes to keep civilians from messing up the peace process, I figured a small deployment could handle the job with the right equipment.
