Zamothra

The Shaimung Dynasty

//This thread is intended to provide the rulers of the nations of Zamothra to describe their nations and roleplay interactions between leaders, soldiers, and civilians.

Zamothra

Zamothra is a series of extremely large islands to the southeast of the Indian subcontinent. Though the islands are nominally tropical in nature, there are an increasing number of enviromentally unstable regions growing in some of the more brutal and business-minded countries. Archeological evidence suggests that there has been some form of advanced humanoid habitation pre-dating the generally accepted origins of homo sapeins, attempts to explain this include tales of aliens, time travel, and connections to the legendary peoples of Atlantis, Lemuria, and Mu.

The cultures present on Zamothra tend to be viewed as eccentric at best and outright evil at worst, there is a very strong anti-West sentiment on the islands (and the people of the Near East are included in the Zamothran definition of, "The West"), the current regime of China is also held in a great deal of contempt. It is a land of contrasts boasting both the heights of culture and human achievment along with the depths of human evil and depravity.

The Shaimung Dynasty

The Shaimung Dynasty is seen as a bastion of retro-futurism with its prevailing trends of Art Deco stylings and vacuum tube based electronics. In truth, the Shaimung were using iron when other early humans were mastering fire and had a wide range of consumer electronics when the Americas were discovered by Europeans.

The Shaimung are generally recognized as being highly educated and extremely compassionate, towards each other, outsiders find them to be highly paranoid and xenophobic. This is mostly due to bad experiences in early first encounters with outside cultures, crime and violence had been alien concepts to the Shaimung and were thus poorly prepared to deal with rampaging Karnivore hordes or aggressive Salvation Unlimited marketing.

Today the borders of the dynasty are walled and heavily defended by highly trained and well-armed soldiers, supplemented with orbital weapons platforms. The line of Shaimung emperors has remained unbroken for millenia, though the last few decades have been marked with a series of aggressive scientist-soldier Emperors who constantly launch (mostly far fetched) plots to attack the west.

The Dynasty is regarded as being highly cultured and the government spends a great deal of money on beautification projects, education, and wellfare. The country shares borders with Cargathia, Salvation Unlimited, Karnivore, and Pine-Scented Goodness.

Karnivore

Karnivore is a nation fueled on misdirected fury and the corpses of its weaker citizens. Between brutal corporatations and tribal warfare, it is one of the most horrible places to attempt to survive in. It is ruled by the High Grill-Master, Elvis Christ DeSade, a man who's prodigious skill at death metal is matched by his cannibalistic fervor. Because of their advanced cloning and gene therapy technology, Karnivore is able to constantly launch attacks sending in two meter tall super-clone soldiers.

Velusiva

A highly urbanized nation renown for its canals and waterways, Velusivans traditionally equate success in life with the aquisition of material posessions. There are very few regulations on economic activity and traditionally very low or no taxes at all. The Prince enjoys a lavish lifestyle and believes firmly in Social Darwinism which in his mind justifies a near complete lack of any social wellfare at all.

Dominarius

The Dominator of Dominarius leads his people both as a secular and religious leader. The Dominarians believe that life is defined by mastery and that the ultimate mastery is over ones own self, however they also believe one cannot master ones own self if there is any possibility of being mastered by anyone or anything else, as a result Dominarian life is all about the aquisition of slaves and plotting against (or dueling) rivals. Even the Dominator must frequently defend his position from challengers, making him a paranoid figure. What binds the society together and prevents mass civil-war is the general agreement amongst Dominarians that being dominated by outsiders is worse than being dominated by a countryman.
