The Horde was always looking for a cheap weapon, and the Hatfield is no exception. The Ministry of War decided that the face of war had changed: now that nations could kill you with satellites, destroy your nukes beforen they even launced, and everybody seemed to be a superpower.
The Horde was never one for designing weapons, no they prefered to steal them. Buy one, make 1,000; that was the Horde motto. But now they had decided they wanted a tank suited for their needs. So they outlined some requirements, begininning from the most important:
1. Affordable
2. Reliable
3. Deadly
So they went about creating a new tank. The traditional ETC cannon was thrown to the trash, as the ammunition was far too expensive. They imagined a rapid fire tank, capable of getting in 3 hits while other tanks were still loading. They also decided to try to crew the tank with the fewest people possible, and this proved to be the hard part. The Hordians, taking any exuse to change themselves, began to experiment with hooking the tanks computer up to the drivers brain.
The Hatfield is something new indeed. It is crewed by one man, directly hooked up to the tank by the brain. 4 cameras are on each side of the tank, giving the driver complete 360 vision. The controls and ability of the tank are simple, and almsot exactly like a old Nintendo 64 game: Battletanx. The driver's hands are hooked into a complex device that allows him to move and fire, all reloading being automatic.
The Focused Energy Weapon System, or FEWS, is quite simple. The gun is constantly sucking in ions in the air, and charging them up. When the driver orders to fire, the ions are launched fore, and a current of 73 kilojules is flashed through it. Normal armour is evaporated. The electricity used for the kill setting is 1000V at 2A. This has a range of 200m.
Production begins ASAP.
