The first Blub city had expanded into a megatropolis and off-shot into dozens of other huge cities spread out among the grassy plains where the Blubs had originally landed to establish their colony. The population over the years had grown from thousands into more than a hundred million and what had been simple huts had sprung up into skyscrapers.
Massive farmlands stretched for miles and miles between cities. The mountains to the north had been tamed and well-engineered mines continously dredged up resources for the Blubs.
A shortage would soon strike the colony, however. It started in Point Marion, a medium-sized city located in the Y formed by two rivers meeting. Candy and treat shops throughout the city had failed to recieve their weekly shipments. Shipments had been delayed a day or two in the past due to weather, but this time it stretched into a full week of delay. By Friday, they were hanging signs up on the front door, "CLOSED, NO STOCK" to the befuddlement and displeasure of the Blubs who came to buy mouth-watering delights with their money.
Calls were made, letters written. This quickly turned into paniced teleconferences as distributers from one city to the next discovered similar shortages. A meeting was ordered.
It took three days and in the end, the final diagnosis was made. The sugar industry simply could not keep up with demand, and until more farmland could be set up.. the Blubs would be put on candy rationing.
It was time to take up arms and look to the hostile forests where massive beasts and lizard-like creatures roamed, preventing the Blubs from expanding to other parts of the world.
It would be war.
