Secret IC
On the world of New Shiloh, a set of cargo containers were being loaded. In each one where large amounts of electronics and ores. But, most importantly, there was a nest of fifty billion nano-bots located within each container. Barely the size of needle, the nano swarms were located with in the containers, and hidden away from sight.

Each of the Containers was flagged as being from the fictional Nova Manufacturing Company.

As they where finished loading, they were towed into space by a tug, and positioned to wait for the Negociando Ship to arrive and haul these containers to their final destinations.

A black wind was ready to blow.

The captain turned to his comm officer, and said, "Channel Alpha Five please."

His comm officer nodded and hit a switch, tuning to the HQ Station's Main Frequency.

"Sir, this is Captain Cleto de Silva. We have a customer here requesting us to slave our Navigation Systems to his ship and follow him in to a planet, and then erase it from the Navigation Banks. We are requesting a Clarification of Policy according to Regulation 15:B."

"I copy that de Silva. According to Regulation 16:B Sub-Section 15a, you are to request him to bring the cargo to you. We are sending an Escort Frigate out to stand by to prevent any attempts of piracy."

"Roger that."

The captain turned to his comm officer and nodded his head.

"Contact the Station Pilot."

The comm officer flipped a switch and re-connected to the Station Pilot.

"I wonder why the Nova Guys where so jumpy, it doesn't make sense," The cargo engineer remarked as he watched the containers load in.

"Sensors, what are the readings on these vessels?"

"We have an Interdictor, twin Vic Star Deuces, and 4 Carrack Cruisers." the sensor man replied as he adjusted his scope.

"Sir, Defense Teams report that the Incoming Carrack has released two Squints."

"Sir, message incoming."

"On speakers."

As they listened to the message, the captain shrugged, no where in the regs did it say he had to refuse a boarding, and their scans didn't say anything about materials hazardous to Life, so he nodded.

"This is the Negociando Trading Consortium vessel Santa Alina, captained by Cleto de Silva we have a load of Electronics from the Nova Company bound for the planets of Mationbuds. Boarding teams are asked according to Regualtion 245 Section C to use Docking Ring 4, and to send over a crew including no more than four soldiers. As long as you are onboard our vessel, we ask that you refrain from threatening our people according to Article 7 of the Laws of International Trade and Commerce. Also, according to Article 15, a team of no more then four engineers are to accompany your forces for as long as they are on this ship.

If at anytime, we feel you have broken our laws, you will be asked to remove yourselves from this ship, and your nation will be given a Red Listing, indicating it to be hostile to trade, and requiring an Escort Frigate to accompany any and all vessels who conduct future trade with your nation."

"Welcome, to the Santa Alina. I am Captain de Silva. Please, follow me."

The Captain led the inspectors down to a staiwell and into the cargo hold of the vessel.

"The cargo containers where placed near the front so that we could unload them even quicker. Our ship is fairly large, so this tram will take us to the front."

The captain reached the tram and pressed a button, opening the doors.

"If nothing is amiss, will we be able to set down in a Waterport, or will we need to send out our runabout to deliver the cargo?"

On the deck, the runabout was readied, and fuel lines where connected. The crew stepped aboard, and began the pre-flight checklist, just in case.

The team was too late. During the time that they where within the captain's bridge, the nannots had escaped. Enough had stayed behind to maintain a positive reading, but many had left. The nanites made their way through the air to the mationbuds forces, and maneuvered their way into the breathing path, letting themselves get inhaled by the enemies

You know it's one the trading vessel once you get inside to inspect it; outside scans would never find it even IF, and that's a big IF, the trading consortium didn't have it in some way shielded. Within those boxes, the nanites are safe from EMP, because it makes sense that senseative electrical equipment would be protected from that kind of mishap. If your EMP managed to get through that, then in all likelihood you'd have to get the consortium a new ship because you just permanetly disabled their old one.

So yeah, it's not likely a random EMP blast would work in this case.

True words , but it wont just be a random blast . It will be a concentrated one which will permanantly disable the ship . We will get them an even better one if it helps to solve the threat . And for this TAP will pay severely ...

OOC: Sure, go ahead and do that. However, it doesn't stop the nanites from infected your personnel, and then possibly infecting your ship. Then you have to EMP that ship, which might not kill all of the little bastards, so you have two seemingly-disabled ships crawling with gray goo, till then ships come to investigate and then get infected themselves. The long and short of it is: if you accept the premise of nanites, then you're not getting out of this without taking some losses.

Yes , but seeing that EMP does not affect personel , we can effectively EMP the trading ships multiple times with concentrated EMP blasts from advanced EMP generators , that should kill off all the little bastards .

It depends , you dont have to always post losses if you can find a way around it ...

If you kill the life support, it does affect them. And EMP does not travel in a straight line; it can go through shit. So you have to have your EMP generators, and the ships containing them, shielded. And then you have to get fairly close (EMP is not exactly the longest ranged thing int he world), and... jus tregardless EMPing is not the end all solution in this case.

Also it seems to me like you're going out of your way to avoid the idea of taking losses by finding your way around them, which I recommend you stop if you value this RP.

Also it seems to me like you're going out of your way to avoid the idea of taking losses by finding your way around them, which I recommend you stop if you value this RP.

Unbeknownst to the crew, the captain had used a wireless net connection to contact the Negociando Escort Patrol Office, and two Escort Frigates where arrivng as the Santa Alina fled from Mationbuds space.

"Sir, the mission has been compromised."

"Yes, I know, gather what nanites we have and prepare them for aerial distribution."

"Yes sir."

The man who had addressed the leader of the Nova Company left and ran to the center of the ship, where the Hanger Bay was located.

Inside was a single Tesserct Jumper, one "Liberated" from the TAP'ian Black Ops Corps.

Beside it, where several tanks, each of which had bio-hazard markers splashed everywhere.

A team of engineers where working on installing a new Stygium Claoking Device in addition to the Alterran and Romulan Cloakers. The ECM suite, had been actively tested, and the ship was covered in special composite materials, ones designed to absorb most forms of Sensory Signals, including those designed for use by Imperial Naval Vessels.

"Place the Nanite Canisters in the spray nozzels. I want this thing up and ready as soon as possible. Also, include a Sub-Atomic Detonator in the event that it is detected, I want it to blow to bits. We will just have to find a new one if that is the case."

Onboard the Roosevelt, a representative from the Domestic Security Division stepped into the Holo Chamber Control Center.

"What can I do for Agent?" the Admiral's adjucnt asked, looking out at the stars beyond his bridge.

"Sir, we have reason to believe that the Nova Company is breaking away from the Fleet."

"Send a Sweeper team to the USS Nova, secure it, bring the people in for queastioning."

As the adjunct spoke, an alarm went off

"What is going on out there?" the Admiral called out.

Now, the pod of energy beings had discovered the energy signature, and swam around the frigates.

Thorough scans were run and those who were found to be hiding were roughly dragged out . Upon showing any signs of resistance they were stunned . Those who brandished ranged weapons were either stunned or killed on the spot , upon the trooper's sense of danger .

"True enough . However Section 12 Chapter 5 states that all vessels within 3 lightyears from Imperial Border may be held and detained if the Sector security chief deems necessasary . Therefore we request you power down all systems except life support and be prepared to be detained ."

At the Captain's command the flotilla's Ion Cannons began to charge up ...

=========================================================

The Chief Stormtrooper barked an order , immediately a stormtrooper rushed forward and dragged the ship's XO to the morgue ...

The Stormtrooper Squad Seageant then spoke to the Captain

"We have no ill intentions towards you . You will be released shortly after a brief interrogation . No harm will come if you follow our instructions ."

He then shouted out another command , at which his stormtroopers spread out throughout the vessel , taking into custody all crew members . Those who resisted were stunned and dragged out .

Thorough scans were run and those who were found to be hiding were roughly dragged out . Upon showing any signs of resistance they were stunned . Those who brandished ranged weapons were either stunned or killed on the spot , upon the trooper's sense of danger .

"Hmmmm......." the captain of the Santa Elmo considered the proposal, and agreed.

"I will follow you. However, the Santa Miguel is needed elsewhere. I must therefore request that you allow it to go and escort a small convoy of our vessels elsewhere."

Looking out at the Wake Angels, he knew that this would turn out alright for the Consortium.

The captain stood up from his chair, and allowed the soldiers to take him away, his internal detonator activated. As long as he was alive, the ship would remain intact, and only his uncle could de-activate the detonator.

"Ummmm...FYI, I have a detonator wired into my body that means that should I die, the Santa Alina will blow. Removal of the detonator from my body will also result in the detonation of the ship's self destruct. Sorry about this, but it is my uncle's anti-piracy policy when it comes to shipping."

The captain looked genuinelly sorry for the thing, but inside, he knew that the detonator was the key to his survival.

Many of the Security guards fell, stunned as they re-acted the way they where trained. A few of them had set up a defensible outpost, and snapped off shots at the incoming soldiers, they all fell, with a message relating to cause-of-death being sent off to the Consortium HQ.

The Black-Ops guys, men specially trained to hide within the ship and repell invaders.

Severa men used eectornic camoflauge to hide within the ductwork, while others hid in the crawlways.

Many of them where caught, not expecting to be searched by actuall government forces. A few however, did manage to hide and unleash no small amount of chaos.

On the lounge deck, any soldiers entering had specialised strobe lights blink on and off, designed to destroy vision, and foul up any kind of electronic vision enhancement.

Those stunned by the light would be dealt with by the twin martial artists sitting within.

The Flotilla commander carefully considered the request before replying :

"Request accepted . Deactivate all systems now and be prepared to be tractored to port . The Santa Miguel may proceed to the edge of the FTLi field and exit Imperial territory . Out ."

The ship's captain was lead to Cell block B1-B and was kept in there , provided with food , water and the necessasary facilities .

However any details that were attempted to be transmitted unfortunately did not make it through due to the Jamming Machinery in work and were interdicted and destroyed .

Meanwhile the more 'complex' areas of the ships were thoroughly pumped with knock out gas before being raided and the defenders dragged out while in a semi-conscious state but unable for any mobile actions .

Imperial Black Guards also kept routine patrols to weed out any remaining dissidents .

The Santa Miguel moved away, drawing a small group of the wake angels withit.

The Santa Elmo on the other hand, powered down most of it's weapons, defenses, and powered down it's engine to as low as it could, to the point that the emissions kept the wake angels interedted. The Microwave transmitter continued to pump out energy, determined to keep the wake angels near-by.

Crewmen of the Consortium where very superstitous, and should a pod of Wake Angels disappear, then most of the crew would despair immediately, believing themselves doomed.

The captain sat in his cell, and activated the implant in his right eye, reading over Consortium Trade Law, trying desperately to find a way out of the situation he was in.

The messages, while destroyed, where also stored within the ship's database, connected via the localised ShipNet. (OOC: These messages could mean the difference between EXILE and ACCEPTANCE within the Consortium, please don't claim to defeat the one's stored within the ship as well.)

Within an hour, all of the crew were taken into custody.

OOC: Just a little FYI on Negociando Culture, the Consortium runs like one of those old coal mining towns (think Coalwood, West Virginia from October Sky). In those towns, the people would rely on the company for everything. If a family lost it's worker in the mine, the family would be required to either move, or have a new family work for the company. Within the Ring discovered by the Consortium, the capital sits on one part of the inside edge, and the Exile City, home of those who no longer have direct relatives working for the Consortium, is located 180* from the capital. Unlike the hyper-futuristic world of Negociando City, Exile City is at about 1940 something in Tech Level. That is where the families of dead consrtium employees live, unless they fell defending a ship, in which case they are allowed to move into Heroes Memorial Barracks, and given a single room for the family to sleep in, and are given positions within the Consortium.

It is a complicated society.

Outside, the microwave emitter continued to play, keeping the wake angels nearby.

The Captain was ready by the time he arrived before the judge, and hoped that the CEO would arrive soon to help clear things out.

And the CEO did, his solar yacht, a massive craft of personal luxury, dropped out of hyperspace and his ship unfurled it's sails.

The CEo walked to his nephew's cell, and looked in at the sleeping young man.

He knocked on the door, waking the captain.

"They treat you okay?"

"Yes sir, they found out abou the detonator, and weren't willing to do anything."

"Glad to hear it. What's the verdict?"

"Ten days and two million credits."

"Trade Credits or Imperial?"

"Imperial."

"Okay, I will do the conversion and see how much that will be. It shouldn't be to bad. Maybe we can negotiate for an equivalent amount of cargo hauling instead. That might just work." Turning to the guards, he said, "May I please visit with the local Judge please? I would like to enter into negotiations."

The CEO began to do the math

2,000,000 Imperial Credits (1.75/1)(1/1.2)(1.2/1) = 980392.15 Trade Credits

When he went back to determine the amount he was going to put into a Datacard for Mationbuds, he figured the price back to the US Dollar, which was the standard of conversion he was using for his storefront.

980392.15tC (1x1.2) $1,176,470

Grabbing his pad, he filled out the requisite data, and a Datacard was written and popped out. On it, was a Discount Card for the above amount of Free Shipping from the Consortium. He also filled out a second Data Card authorising a withdrawl of 980,392.15 Trade Credits from the Waste Slush Fund

OOC: I am using the standard Chemistry formula for changing from one thing to another.

You stated it was 2 million

Your value versus the dollar is 1.75c = $1, and my conversion rate is 1tC = $1.2. If I wrote out the formula wrong, please notify me with a linkl to how it is supposed to look, and I will change it to fit
