Upstart rebels trying to overthrow your government? Being invaded by your larger neighbor? Grabbing a new piece of land?
Sometimes, a standing army just isn't enough to deal with the problems of international politics. Conscripting an army can be bad public relations, and take months to train the soldiers for combat anyways. Why not allow your people to make you money while others do the fighting for you?
Blackwatch industries believes it can help with this problem. Fielding nobody with less than 6 years of military training, and many times 15 to 20 years of it, Blackwatch Mercenaries are considered elite when compared to chellian military units; no small feat. Using some of the best equipment money can buy, combined with extensive training and experience, Blackwatch is a force to be reckoned with.
Blackwatch operates a division sized army, with the ability to change into most types of divisions. With their equipment and training, they can come in as a heavy armour division, a mechanized infantry division, a mountain division focusing on artillery, whatever you wish.
Furthermore, Blackwatch maintains its own small navy. This includes a Charles De Gualle Mk.2 aircraft carrier, an Aegis equipped destroyer, two frigates, 1 destroyer, and 8 fast attack boats. While it does not take on naval conflicts, it uses this fleet to support the army, and can defend itself from naval assaults. The carrier air fleet can use land based aircraft as well however, and if sufficient airfields are available, it can simply use that.
Prices are negotiable; Generally, its 20m dollars per week, starting when the troops arrive, or are attacked by enemy forces, whichever comes first. To stop using their services, notice must be given 24 hours before their services are no longer required, giving them time to get out of the battlefield. To add the use of just the air support, its an extra 5m per week. To add the naval accompaniment, its an extra 10m.
However, there are ways of lowering the cost. For starters, two month advances are given on the mercenaries, so if things are tight, the price can be paid later. Second, captured enemy equipment can be given to blackwatch, to lower the costs. Third, any captured land given to Blackwatch to help lower the cost, as long as blackwatch is given reasonable access to the land(land connecting to the ocean is usually the best bet). Depending on the land, it could pay off all of the cost accumulated.
