Ackistan seeks bids to launch satellites

Ackistan

Greetings!

Lacking a space program of our own, the Republic of Ackistan is now accepting bids to launch 5 satellites into low orbit and 1 satellite into high orbit on our behalf.

None of the satellites in question are exceptionally large in size, thus a typical satellite delivery system should suffice. We would like all the satellites to be in orbit within three years. Any bid should include insurance in case you damage our destroy our satellites while trying to launch them. The combined value of the satellites is approximately $16 billion USD.

The satellites in question are of the common variety: GPS, surveillance, weather tracking, communications, & a space based telescope. None of the satellites carry weapons of any kind.

Chellian National Space Industries is willing to launch all six satellites for $56m USD. We will send a ship to pick them up, bring them back to chellis, launch them, and bring them into orbit of your nation. All satellites are insured incase of any problems in getting them into orbit. If any problems do arise, the cost to rebuild them will be sent, and we will waive the launch fee's all-together. We have extensive experience in launching satellites into space, and its a nationally held industry, so any problems are backed with the full protection of the chellian government. We can launch them within two weeks of the satellites arriving in chellis, and the time to bring them back over Ackistan.

That certainly is an attractive offer. As we doubt anyone will be able to match it, the Republic of Ackistan accepts.

Three of our satellites are currently ready for launch. The remaining three should be ready within the next year.

$56 million USD will be wired to your account immediately. A pleasure doing business with you.

We wish to make a counter bid to the offer for the final 3 satellites. We will launch them for 20 million keatmarks (approx 25million USD) on one condition: that we have minimal access. We are a small state and are looking for opportunities to work collaboratively with great powers.

We wait to hear if the proposal is satisfactory

In Guathic, we employ a diffrent launch platform than most other nations.

Utilizing laser ignition into reflective dishes to ignite a mix of patented rocket fuel, noble gasses, and oxygen from jet intake, a laser driven, SSTO (single stage to orbit), re-usable launch vehicle is possible. In fact, it's one of the first things we built here in Guathic.

Depening on the weight of the sattelites, it will only cost anywhere from 500,000 USD, to 5 million USD per launch. Contract with us for all future sattelite projects, and we will gladly launch everything into space you wish.

We are also willing to negotiate the construction of more launch platforms.

TO THE LEADERSHIP OF GUATHIC

We are interested in developing joint capacities in a wide range of technical industries, including anti missile shields, first strike/second strike extra-terrestrial weapons platforms, and research facilities.
We propose, if it is amenable, that we form a joint national research facility, hosted in both states, to develop these facilities. The potential of our research could be endless - we could combine to develop some of the most high-tech industries in this world, as well as extend our military power skyward. Imagine developing a system which will intercept nuclear war heads, track and attack terrorists and provide 100's of clean telecommunication signals to our people and the military.
We will contribute 75 percent of expenses to develop this joint program. We will only ask, in return, for 45 percent of any profits. In doing this, we will also develop a free trade zone and free citizen movement zone.

We Hope to hear from you soon

Greetings from the Republic of Ackistan!

At this time, we have already accepted a bid to launch our satellites. Our current contractor seems up to the task, thus we feel it would be in bad form to cancel the contract at this point. However, I expect we will be launching at least 6 more satellites within the next five years, and will be sure to leave the bidding open longer next time.

However, we welcome the opportunity to establish a cooperative relationship with your nation. If you would like to send a small team of scientists to Ackistan, we will gladly share information collected by our weather tracking satellites & our space based telescope with you.

Furthermore, we would welcome a diplomatic exchange with your nation. Perhaps after we have exchanged embassadors and established peaceful relations, we might even consider providing you with the technical details required to make use of our GPS satellites.

Best wishes,

Greetings Secretary of State,
The launch technique has so far met with 100% success in operational launches of sattelites and other vehicles. Various foreign corporations contract the launching of communication sattelites, and our own government uses it for long range transport of limited orbit personell shuttles.

In testing, however, we have uncovered several problems. Mis-calibrations, or faulty prediction of higher atmosphere weather conditions, can cause the laser to lose target, which results in a los of lift. The platform was sometimes unuseable after the unplanned landings, and if launching a sattelite not meant to be returned and landed, it is possible the sattelite will be lost.

In use of the launch platform, we hold to strict calibration standards of the lasers, and demand the most accurate weather reports from all sources. It's only been in use a short time, but it's absolute success has lead to the Bureau of Aeronautics beleiving that an expansion of space based business is possible, and that the space division of our bureau should be expanded to it's own bureau to oversee space based work.

UNOFFICIAL IMPERIAL PROCLIMATION

As launching satelites into space is not that big of a deal for us, we will offer a bid of $100,000 USD for the launching of the 5 satelites, which would come to about $20,000 USD per satelite. We are sure that you won't get a deal anywhere else!

Imperial Airways plc. Correspondance

Dear Sir or Madam,

Imperial Aviation owns and operates a number of King Sarius I spaceplanes. These single-stage-to-orbit craft use a nuclear reactor to superheat liquid hydrogen, thus imparting a significant amount of thrust to the craft. As King Sarius I spaceplanes are reusable, and the nuclear thermal rocket propulsion system far more efficient than conventional rockets, launch costs over conventional platforms are significantly reduced.

The maximum payload of a King Sarius I spaceplane is 42,500kg to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) for which 340,000kg of reaction mass (liquid hydrogen) is required. Thus the expense of the hydrogen at market rates comes to around $238,000 per launch. With maintenance and other operational costs added in, as well as our own profit margin, the total cost is as low as $400,000 to launch a 42,000kg payload. We suspect, however, that your satellites weigh a great deal less than this and so a price comparable to that of Shazbotdom - around $120,000 for all five satellites - should be attainable. Of course, if you can provide us with the specific mass of the satellites, a more accurate figure can be attained.

However, if the aforementioned Shazbotdom is launching these satellites into space using conventional rocket boosters as they imply, we suggest that they have got their figures wrong. They have reason to be confident that "you won't get a [better?] deal anywhere else" - the only way anyone else could offer such a deal would be if it were done on a loss-making basis.

As ever, you can expect the best quality service from Imperial Airways, and be assured that our insurance will cover any losses or damages that may be sustained during the launching of your satellites.

Greetings Secretary of State,

It was actually developed in the US, but due to some bureaucratic issues and a failure to recognize the importance of their space agency, they never let it venture from the test phases.

When building our launch platforms, the ability to utilize the equator gave us a wide array of launch options, and the cheapest would be a light, re-usable launch format. This was the only option really explored, next to the space cannon.
The space cannon required much more conventional fuel and land space than we had to work with.

We are looking to expand the number of launch pads, and maintain or own space agency. While we have a cheap and readily available system to putting objects in orbit, the irony is we have little of our own to launch.

All future bids will depend up the weight of what you wish to put into orbit. Please provide physical specs of all objects and we can generate a cost for you.

Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen,
Greeting Angelina Whittaker,

First, I'd like to say I agree with Praetonia's Imperial Airways about the Shazbotdom Counterbid. They'd likely be running at a loss. But I must inquire as to the unusually cheap nature of the Praetonian SSTO system. The amount of liquid hydrogen to put a vessel in orbit is quite incredible. The cheap nature of the nuclear generator is in the longevity, of course, but it's amazing how you can produce so much liquid hydrogen so cheaply. Though this is not the place to discuss it further, cheap hydrogen fuel combined with our laser ignition platforms would make an incredibly light, cheap launch system. I leave it to you to open a discussion with us on this matter.

Second, Guathic has recently borrowed a mass amount of cheap foreign labor for it's more major building projects. With roads, buildings, and docks having more attention to them, more advanced constructions can be worked upon by ourselves. This includes a launch platform increase. This increase of construction, combined with international cooperation in space ventures, opens a lot of possibilities.
A joint space agency between Ackistan, Guathic, Keating, and Praetonia could give us considerable power in space.

Just some things to consider.

We would like to mention to the glorious leadership of Pretonia that we do not use solid rocket boosters. Our specialised military aircraft (AC-01Pelican and AC-02 Garrison) has the ability to go into low earth orbit. We have used these aircraft, plus specialised pods that attach to the rear lower section, to drop spy satelites and other satlies, including communications satelites, into space in orbits that would last for over 200 years. These aircraft can achieve this as they are specially built within the Dark Empire of Shazbotdom at Shazbotdom Military Suppliers (Export version does not have this capability).

Greetings from the Republic of Ackistan!

The people of Ackistan are pleased to see so many nations are eager to assist in launching our satellites. We are also pleasantly surprised that our satellite programs have resulted in new diplomatic ties with a number of nations.

Our national congress has recently allocated money towards developing a space program of our own. We expect to be capable of launching our own satellites within a few years. In the meantime, we wish to announce that we have 2 new satellite launch contracts open to bidding.

Contract #1
Ackistan's government wishes to deploy 8 satellites. Satellites include 2 scientific satellites designed to monitor the conditions of the world's ice caps, 1 communications satellite, and 5 classified satellites. Two of the satellites require a high orbit, two satellites require medium orbit, and the rest require low orbit. None of these satellites carry weapons of any kind.

- Must have successfully launched at least 30 satellites.
- Must have 95% or better success rate deploying satellites.
- Must be able to insure the satellites up to 10 billion USD should the satellites be damaged or destroyed during deployment.
- Must be able to deploy these satellites within 1 year.

Contract #2
Telcomm Communications Inc. wishes to launch two communications satellites into medium orbit. These satellites are not exceptionally large, and should be deployable by common satellite launch vehicles. Bidding nations must meet the following criteria:

- Must have successfully launched at least 10 satellites.
- Must have 90% or better success rate deploying satellites.
- Must be able to insure the satellites up to 3 billion USD should the satellites be damaged or destroyed during deployment.
- Must be able to deploy these satellites within 2 years.

Bidding will be open for 2 months (OOC: until tomorrow). Let the bidding begin!

To Ackistan,

The Bureau wishes to make bids on the recently released contract offers. Here are our current launch platform performance statistics.

- 42 sattelite launches. 8 crew operated launches.
- 100% Success rate as of today.
- Capable of insuring a 42 billion USD from our current surplus. Can insure 50 billion a month.
- Capable of launching at least one sattelite tomorrow at the minimum. 20 launch windows are available within the year. No platform is occupied with other launches beyond this year, allowing for 250 possible launch windows.

Now, all we require are the specific dimensions and weight of the sattelites required to be launched, and we can make the neccessary prices known.
