Two groups of navy vessels set asail from the navy bases NM6 (Lagos, Nigeria) and NM3 (Oran, Algeria) at the same time. The fleet from Oran sailed through the Gibraltar Strait, and continued southwest, along the Moroccan shore.
The fleet from Lagos steamed westwards, after going south a couple of minutes. They were carefully not to come to close to the waters of Cote d'Ivoire, where the fleet from The United Federation of Military Command was active invading the country.
The group from Oran arrived outside the Cape Verde Islands first, they waited for the group from Lagos to arrive...

OCC: Stupid question, but why are you including SSBN submarines in a invasion force? Their job is to lay and wait in the depths of the ocean and wait for the order that will hopefully never come to launch their Nuclear Missiles. Does you nation even have nuclear weapons? If, not then why are you using SSBN submarines? If your using them as missile carriers for say Harpoon and Tomahawk Land attack Missiles then they would be called SSGN submarines. The B stands for Ballistic missiles, the G stands for Cruise Missiles.
IC: As the situation was unfolding in Oran, concern was building in the Netherlands government. Was this small fleet just the beginning of an invasion force or was it an exercise?
Henk, contact the fleet and let them know what’s up. Dispatch the ships in Southern Spain, if the unknown fleet is heading towards Spain tell them to make contact but not to Open Fire unless fire upon first. In the meantime send a flight reconnoiter to locate this fleet and figure out its destination. If, they are indeed heading towards Spain you are order to put the Spanish Military on High Alert. when you found out their exact location and heading let me know. Until then send the single Rafale fighter to do the recon and tell them to be cautious on their approach. I don't want this turning into a full blown shooting war.

They are not primarily included because of their ballistic missile capacity, rather to protect the other vessels from other submarines (they're having both torpedoes and anti-surface missiles, according to wikipedia – but I'm definitely no kind of expert at this).
The other reason is strictly SIC, but one or two of the SSBN's will probably have its home base on Cape Verde eventually. One "reason to my reasons" is the situation in South America – not too far from here.
And yes, I'm having nuclear weapons, through Israel.

They saw the Spanish fighter coming closer. With this unusual large formation, they understand that the Spanish navy must wonder what we're up to. The crew at the Charles De Gaulle carrier made contact with the Spanish Rafaele Fighter:
"This is the Navy of Algeria, we're about to going through the Strait, and then we'll continue southwards, along the Moroccan coastline."

Republic of Cape Verde
The Lagos-group arrived safely 10 km to the south of Santiago [Sao Tiago] (pop: 240,00), which is the largest of the Cape Verde Islands. The capital Praia (pop: 113,000) lies at the southern tip of the island.
The Oran-group stopped around 5 km north of the island Sal. Outside the capital city of Sal, Espargos (pop: 6,000), there is a fairly large airport (Amilcar Cabral International Airport), which is the first target to secure on the Cape Verde Islands.
OOC: No military action has been taken yet, they have only arrived outside the islands.

The ships began to surround the two islands, and Lavi-planes left the Charles De Gaulle carriers. One of the patrol boats of the Cape Verdian coast guard outside Sal, that was approaching the Kopparbergs Navy, radioed to the ships:
This is the Coast Guard of Cape Verde. You're entering our national waters, turn around or we must take action against you.
Commander Eriksson at Algeria De Gaulle (the De Gaulle carrier from Oran) laughed at the small patrol boat that was threaten the Royal Navy of Kopparbergs. He ordered one of the Osa II class boats to open fire against the patrol boat, and just seconds after that, the Cape Verdian boat exploded in a ball of fire.
Commander Eriksson radioed the other Cape Verdian patrol boats in the waters outside Sal:
"This is Commander Eriksson at Algeria De Gaulle. We're here to take the control over the islands here. If you're trying to stop us, we will sink all of you."
Immediately after he had said that, one of the other patrol boats fired a missile towards one of the Kebir class patrol boats. The explosion was powerful, and the Kebir boat sank to the bottom almost instantly.
With that done, all of Kopparbergs naval vessels opened fire against the patrol boats belonging to the Cape Verdian Coast Guard. The problem for the Cape Verdians is that they're having a hard time calling at the Navy, because the Coast Guard IS the navy...

Missiles hit five of the eight Cape Verdian patrol boats. Four of them sank, while one managed to stay on the surface.
The Nanuchka II class corvette were hit by a missile from the Cape Verdian Coast Guard, but managed to put out the fire. One more Kebir class patrol boat sank due to the Cape Verdian Coast Guard.
The remaining three patrol boats gave up when it was made clear that Kopparbergs' navy were serious about sinking them all, should they try to stop them.
Lavi jets from Algeria De Gaulle began to land at Amilcar Cabral International Airport. In a couple of hours larger transport planes should arrive from Algeria, and by then the airport must be secured.
-----
Outside the island Sao Tiago a battle was fought between the Cape Verdian Coast Guard and the fleet from Lagos. It was very similar to the battle outside Sal, the majority of the Cape Verdian patrol boats were sank, while they managed to make some hits with missiles. Two Lavi jets were shot down and a missile hit one Eilat Saar 5 class multi mission corvette. When around 50% of the Coast Guard was eliminated they gave up and surrendered.

The Kingdom of Kopparbergs
Message to the government of Cape Verde
As you have noticed, we're coming to visit you. We will be nice with you, as long as you don't make resistance. If you do that – we will be everything other than nice, but you've already noticed that too.
We're going to incorporate the Cape Verde islands in the Kingdom of Kopparbergs. This is not a bad thing for you, as you will get a lot larger resources from us, than you cat get yourself.
With the uprising conflict in the South America you're not able to defend yourself – we will take care of that for you. We're going to build a large naval air base here, and we're going to hire a lot of people at the base. Within five to ten years we will build bridges between two or three of the islands.
As you can see, you will have everything to win and nothing to loose with this solution. And besides, you'll have no choice. Within 24 hours we will begin airlifting a large amount of military personnel to the two airports at Sal and Sao Tiago.
I will personally come to you tomorrow to talk about this. And tomorrow evening you and me are going to make a speech together, in television, to the people of Cape Verde.

Reports were starting to stream in about conflict in the Cape Verde Islands. Early inductions pointed to the Kingdom of Kopparbergs suffering some losses but, having so far won the battles.
What the Cape Verde Islands had to do with the any possible conflict in South America was anyone’s guess. The nearest South American country was over 1500 miles distance from the Islands, if any nation was a threat to the Islands it would be from Africa and indeed that’s exactly where the threat had come from. The Netherlands Government had to quarrel over some Islands but, Willem just shock his head and wonder when the clock when stop being turned back towards the attitude that had lead to the Age of Imperialism.
Would the small independent nations of the world be able to maintain their independence or would they fall victim to this "New Age of Imperialism". Only time and the free will of nations would tell.

King Carl Gustaf XXI arrived in the special, royal version of a Boeing 747-400 at Amilcar Cabral International Airport. There were no civilian flights landing and leaving here since it was taken under Kopparbergs' control. The King was escorted to a conference room at the airport were the president of the Republic of Cape Verde, Pedro Pires, was waiting for the King.
They said hello to each other, then they sat down to negotiate. Two hours later a press communique was released:

One year after the Republic of Cape Verde were incorporated as a protectorate into the Kingdom of Kopparbergs things were almost as before the incorporation. Pedro Pires was still the president of Cape Verde, and the people of Cape Verde was living as before the incorporation, but with a slighter higher standard of living. Unemployment was nearly inexistent, as about 15,000 new civilian jobs was created at the new big military base at Sal Island. In addition to that, 300 new fishermen were needed, and 250 men were hired at the Nigerian State Oil Company, which were looking for oil outside the islands.
