The entire horizon was now almost dark gray outside the planes starboard windows, broken only by intermittent flickers of pale white light, indicating yet another lighting strike in the gathering storm.

‘I am not a diplomat,’ declared Lady Saroir, the Imperial State Commander, after a brief period of turbulence, ‘I deal with the law and the courts.’ She shifted uncomfortably in her seat, glancing always to the window.

‘Lord Erkal is unavailable at the moment,’ replied Erkal’s assistant Darius, who had been sent along to provide Saroir with a briefing and any necessary council during the trip. ‘Besides, you’ll do fine,’ he continued, pulling the shutter down over the nearby window, ‘and I can do my best to make sure you do.’

Still not convinced this was an entirely appropriate arrangement, Saroir simply scowled, shifting in her chair again. ‘Last time I heard a mention of Xharn, weren’t we on the brink of war with them over that incident in Xirnium?!’ she demanded.

‘That was a long while ago, best perhaps not to mention that during our visit. I hear it didn’t end well for them.’

Before Saroir had a chance to reply, the door leading into the cabin opened and the co-pilot stepped out, excusing himself for interrupting. ‘Were coming up on Xharnian airspace. We should be there in a few minutes.’

The Fatherland's airspace was not unoccupied the radar centers picked up the plane from Yallak entering The United Military State's controlled airspace. This prompted an immediate response as two Raptor Strike Fighters took off from their local base to intercept the Yallakian plane. They would then ask for their reason for entering the Fatherland's territory. If their story verified the Raptors would promptly escort the plane towards the first National Airport in Xharnia itself. If they failed to explain their presence they would be fired upon in the name of the defense of the Fatherland. This was standard Xharnian policy on handling all questionable aircraft..

The Raptors moved in quickly and successfully reached their target and the lead pilot sent a radio message to the pilots of the Yallakian plane. The Xharnian Pilot was prepared to fire but kept his fingers a suitable distance to avoid starting a premature international incident. The last thing the Fatherland needed was the Infinite Empire coming here with demands of reparations for killing their citizens.

The Pilots held a line formation and kept their missiles locked on the plane ready to blast her out of the sky. The message was finally said and it went something like this.

"Imperial Yallakian Plane, This is the Xharnian National Air Command. Your plane has been caught flying overhead. Do you have an engagement with the Central Military Command? We need to verify your reason for entering our airspace failure to explain your presence will mean immediate termination from our skies."

The Raptors attempted to hold their position and keep their lock…

The Imperial jet didn’t flinch at the arrival of the Raptor’s, maintaining its course directly towards Xharn, the pilots neither wishing to startle a trigger-happy pilot with sudden maneuvers nor look intimidated by the threatening posture of the Xharnian air force (which could destroy the small unarmed jet with ease at anytime).

‘Xharnian Air Command, Xharnian Air Command,’ the pilot responded to the Fatherland’s hail, ‘We are here at the request of the Xharnian Authorities. A member of the High Council is aboard – I believe you’ve been expecting them.’

The comm. clicked off and the pilots waited patiently in silence for a reply.

The Xharnian Fighters received a confirming message from their superiors. It seemed the Grand National Unity Party had decided to allow the Yallakian plane to pass into Xharn's airspace. This was a good thing because the Xharnian National Air Command pilots were always ready to fire upon any plane or jet that entered into the fatherland's airspace. They had been trained to think of foreigners as harmful bacteria and viruses that wanted to infect the fatherland.

The pilots held their position and upon verifying the Yallakian presence as legit finally responded in a more polite tone. The lead pilots took a deep breath and finally said in a more humble tone.

"Imperial Yallakian Plane, We have verified your presence as a diplomatic one with the Central Military Command. We have been given immediate orders from our superiors to escort you to the first national airport in Xharnia. The capital of the United Military State of Xharn."

The Raptors changed formation and formed a raptor to each wing tip of the Imperial Yallakian Plane in an escort formation. They were ordered to defend this foreign jet with their very lives and they would do so without hesitation…

The Imperial Household’s twin-engine jet decelerated quickly as it hit the tarmac of the Xharnian First National Airport, the blurred black and white colouring of the plane coming into focus with the loss of speed. On its side and wings the craft bore the Imperial insignia: two intertwined Golden Dragons.

‘Now, remember…’ began Darius as the two occupant of the aircraft headed towards the boarding stairs.

‘Enough,’ Saroir snapped back, ‘I’ll figure the rest out as we go.’

‘As you wish,’ replied Darius quietly before he unlocked the stairs and lowered them to the ground below.

The pair exited the plane, followed by the two pilots although they didn’t follow as the State Commander headed towards the waiting Xharnian personnel.

The four Xharnian personal that meet the Yallakian delegation where all dressed in black business suites and had on black loafers shoes and they had the same style of black sunglasses. These were members of the National Central Intelligence Agency. This Gestapo like organization was in command monitoring and the secret policing of all internal workings of the Fatherland. These agents of the United Military State waited for their Yallakian charges. They were to escort them via State limousine directly to the Grand National Palace to meet the Central Military Command along with his Exalted Excellency the Patron Joseph Stormberg the beloved and feared leader of the Fatherland himself.

The agents had managed to clear the area of all non-sanctioned personal. The area had a ring of Military Police Officer's dressed in their military style uniforms. They were in standard gear along with the M-16A2 rifles. They seemed more like a virtual army than standard on the beat cops. That however was Xharnian Standard police they seemed to be making sure no one entered the area. The local crowds would immediately walk the other way as soon as they saw these officers securing the area.

The local loudspeakers were saying their usual rhetoric of patriotism to the fatherland and supreme loyalty to the Patron Joseph Stormberg and the Grand National Unity Party. If the Yallakian delegation listened they could hear the loudspeakers usual comments.

"People of the Fatherland, It is your duty to defend your homes and lives from the enemies of the Fatherland! You must be ready to take up arms in the name of his Exalted Excellency Patron Joseph Stormberg! Hail Stormberg! Hail Stormberg! Hail Stormberg!"

The lead Xharnian agent moved ahead and greeted the Yallakian delegation. The Xharnian gave a salute and said, "Hail Stormberg,
Welcome to the Fatherland. We have been ordered by the Grand National Unity Party to escort all of you to our capital building. We hope you enjoy the ride."

One of the Xharnian agents ran towards the Captain of the Brigade of Military Police Officers. He whispered something into his ear. The Captain ran over to his APC and sent a radio message to several patrol cars. They would help escort the limo to the residences of the leaders of the Fatherland…

OOC: Sorry, had this ready last night but Jolt wasn't working when i went to post it, grrr

Saroir listened briefly to the shrill propaganda emanating continuously from loudspeakers, before tuning it from her thoughts and instead turning her focus to the scene before her at the airport. As she did so, the State Commander pulled back the hood of her dark blue formal cloak, which was pulled completely around her masking the figure behind it and held fast at the neck with a miniature gold clasp of the Imperial emblem.

Being the head of all court related matters in Yallak, Lady Saroir observed the efficiency of the encircling military police operation with some appreciation, slowly surveying the sight until her gaze fell upon the business suited men arriving in front of her.

”Hail Stormberg Welcome to the Fatherland. We have been ordered by the Grand National Unity Party to escort all of you to our capital building. We hope you enjoy the ride.”

‘Lead the way then,’ she replied softly before turning to Darius and motioning for him to gather the documents Lord Erkal had sent and follow her.

OOC: I understand completely, I had a hard enough time trying to log into jolt.

IC:

The lead Xharnian agent did an about face and marched towards the limousine. His fellows followed him in step. The third agent went an opened the door for the Yallakian delegation while the second agent headed to the driver's door and entered inside. He was going to be the driver for the black government limousine.

The lead agent took a seat in the back and would face directly at his Yallakian charges while they were transported to the Grand National Palace to meet the Central Military Command. The other two agents would take a ride with the Military Police enforcer class patrol vehicles that would follow the limo.

The third agent took note of the Yallakian woman. He said nothing but merely waited for delegation to enter the vehicle so they could begin towards their primary destination..

The Imperial State Commander gathered up her cloak at the front and slide gracefully into the awaiting limousine, followed closely by Darius. After a few moments, the vehicle moved off from the airport, a silence falling over the occupants save for the constant low hum of the car traveling. The Xharnian agent sat without a word, rigidly facing the two passengers, and this coupled with the fact that his glasses hid where exactly he was looking seemed to make Darius quite awkward. The diplomat began to fidget through the documents he had brought, pretending to read through papers and reorganize the folder he carried them in.

While clearly amused at her colleagues discomfort, Saroir ignored him, instead studying the third Xharnian agent. Or was it the lead agent. She had seen them for only a couple of minutes now and hadn’t quite worked out the difference.

‘How long until we reach the Grand National Palace?’ Saroir addressed the Xharnian, breaking the silence and seemingly relaxing Darius. From the fairly long plane trip and the few minutes in the car with the diplomat, she had now figured that he was so used to always talking he couldn’t deal with anything else, and so with a though of pity for the Imperial Foreign Minister, she returned her attention to the agent and awaited his response.

The lead Xharnian agent remained silent for a few moments. He decided to break his silence to answer the Yallakian woman's question. The agent responded in a militant manner, "The estimated time to our destination is exactly thirty minutes from our point of origin." The Xharnian agent immediately went back to silence looking at his charges directly making sure they were perfectly protected.

The Limousine was had several Military Police vehicles following behind making sure the delegation reached the Grand National Palace unharmed. It would seem their lives were considered highly valuable to the current regime. The checkpoints immediately allowed the convoy of vehicles to pass without showing papers. The Yallakians could see the various buildings and roads of Xharnia if they looked out the window. The windows tint of black made it a little difficult to see color but they could make out shapes quite easily.

The Xharnian driver kept the radio off and despite the engine running. The Xharnian personnel made no attempts to talk or speak to the outsiders it seemed they had been ordered to silence.

Half an hour from the point of origin? Saoir thought turning away from the once again silent Xharnian agent to look out the window, This could be a long ride. In the seat beside her, Darius, had now given up going through his papers and was now simply sitting quietly, casting a look out the window every once in a while and staring at his folder the rest of the time.

‘What part of the military do you work for?’ Saroir asked the agent, assuming that he actually did work for them given his previous answer. She hoped that even if he couldn’t answer her it would pass the time until they reached the palace.

The Xharnian agent after a few several seconds of thinking finally replied in one word, "Intelligence." He then continues to stare on waiting for the ride to be finished. It was personally annoying to him sitting here for so long and waiting for nothing but to baby sit a bunch of foreigners but that was his orders and he would follow them like any good soldier.

The Limousine ride was the most direct route towards the Grand National Palace. The only reason it was taking so long was because of the sheer size of the capital. It had several million people living in it. This made the ride a very long one to begin with plus the normal traffic of the city was usually terrible to bout. It was thanks to the Military Police clearing the roads by establishing roadblocks and shutting down several roads was the time narrowed down to the thirty minutes.

Finally. Through the window, the Yallakian’s could see the limousine pulling up on a group of large stylish buildings, which could only be government centers and the palace if they knew anything at all about Xharn. Saroir glanced across the luxurious interior of the vehicle at Darius silver and gold watch. It had been roughly half an hour, and just about the same time since the Xharnian agent last spoke, but judging by the way his apparent displeasure at having to escort the limo’s occupants was slowly ebbing away, she gathered that this was indeed their destination.

‘Is this the palace?’ she asked just for clarification.

The Xharnian smiled a rather wolfish smile and said, "Welcome to the heart of the Fatherland, the Grand National Palace." The driver immediately jumps out of the driver's side and runs over towards the passenger door and open's it. The Xharnian agent quickly gets out before the Yallakian delegation can move out the door. It seems he was going to be the first out for security reasons. The area outside appears to be swarming with Military Police officers all around the Grand National Square. If the Yallakians looked around they could see every major governmental building including the National Senate building and the twelve-foot tall statue of Patron Joseph Stormberg in the center of City Square. The Patron's Statue was highly decorative with highly detailed craftsmanship. The Statue even was saluting towards the north of the city. The local residents were party officials and other powerful members of Xharnian society.

The loudspeakers were also in the Grand National Square if the Yallakian's listened they easily hear more political propaganda coming from the hundreds of loudspeakers all around the square. They could also see hundreds of Xharnian flags (http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c309/Xharnia/lodosia.gif) hanging from the various flagpoles and hanging down from the various buildings.

The Grand National Palace was quite large. It was built to be a virtual fortress. The Palace had several Patriot surface to air missile launchers along with armed Death Korps Legionaries patrolling the grounds. It was also well noted that their were several snipers along the area to ensure the protection of the leading officials of the Grand National Unity Party. The Flag of the Fatherland continued to wave on the many battlements and towers of the palace. There was also a reception committee of several party officials. They were all dressed in gray styled military uniforms and had red armbands with the Xharnian flag printed on their right arm. They looked like a small officer Corp rather than a group of politicians. It was pretty safe to assume that Xharnian society was very militant.

The two Imperial officials climbed out of the limousine into the Grand National Square, briefly taking in the sight before them. The Xharnian palace wasn’t all that dissimilar from the Yallakian one, though it was quite a bit smaller given that the Imperial palace was basically a city unto itself. This one did have a lot more flags though Saroir noted as she passed the large statue of Stormberg.

‘Come,’ commanded the High Councilor as she spotted the awaiting group of Xharnian officials and began moving towards them, her feet hidden under her floor length cloak as she walked. Straightening out the invisible crinkles in his suit, Darius fell in step with Saroir as they headed over to meet the party. It took only a few moments to cross the distance.

‘Greetings from the Imperial Government of Yallak,’ she said stopping in front of the Xharnian politicians, ‘I am High Councilor Lady Saroir.’

The head Xharnian official smiled at the Yallakian woman and said in reply, "We would thank the Imperial Government for their greetings. We would also like to welcome you to our Fatherland. We are here to escort your delegation party to the Central Military Command's meeting room. The leaders of the Party shall meet you there to discuss the issue of relations between our two great nations."

The Xharnian officials saluted and performed a unified about face and literally marched towards the massive entrance of the Grand National Palace. The twin doors were opened and the two Death Korps Legionaries guarding the entrance moved to the sides allowing the group to enter the famed Nationalist Fortress.

The sight was an impressive display. The palace had red carpets with several statues and a large base for the first flight of stairs leading to the next story of the Grand National palace. The palace had several portraits and paintings on the walls. These elegant masterpieces showed depictions of the Novan/Xharnian war. They also showed the previous leaders of the fatherland including the founder of the Nationalist movement Patron Anton Von Bureon himself. It was odd however to note there were no indications of Xharn's heritage before the era of Nationalistic Totalitarianism. That was primarily thanks to the history control efforts of the N.C.I.A. The other reason was most of the art and culture dating back to that time were left in the ruins of the dead fatherland abandoned by the Xharnian people several years ago thanks to the atomic cleansing of the land making it totally uninhabitable to all living creatures.

The group continued up the stairs until they reached an era where there was an elevator. The lead Xharnian official placed hand on the control pad and the computer granted him access to the controls of the elevator. The security cameras were visible in every room and they seemed to be the ever-watching presence of the Fatherland's military/security forces. The place was crawling with servants and several N.C.I.A. agents. The sight of Death Korps Legionaries could not be denied they were located/stationed at every door and especially near places deemed high security risks. The Elevators were considered such a risk and a squad of Death Korps Legionaries held their position making sure no one entered without proper clearance.

OOC: Sorry about the short and poor post, just didn’t want to leave you waiting any longer (had a fair amount of uni work to do – all the stuff I put off doing in my holidays).

The two Yallakian’s were surprised with the level of security displayed in the Xharnian palace. Everywhere their gaze fell were either cameras or guards, and they wondered what on earth would cause such paranoia in the Xharnian leaership. Within the Empire, such drastic levels of security like this would only be seen at the classified and hidden IRDN research facility, noted Saroir as the elevator arrived at the level the group was waiting on.

Once the doors had opened, Lady Saroir entered the elevator quickly, impatiently wanting to begin the talks that she was here for. As the head of the courts in Yallak, being moved around through all these security checks by an array of guards felt somewhat unnatural to her, felt somehow like she imagined many of the criminals she had convicted in trial would have felt.

The Elevator opened after clearance was granted. The lead official sighed and said to the Yallakian delegation, "My lady, I apologize but you may have clearance to enter the Elevator but my party and myself are not nearly high enough to enter the bowels of our most classified and secret command center. "

He salutes again and does and about face along with his entourage. They abandon the Yallakian delegation to the Death Korps Legionaries guarding the Elevators. The Corporal of the squad walks up to Lady Saroir and salutes. He is dressed in the standard uniform of the Death Korps his face is covered with the standard issue Gas mask and his body is dressed in a German style combat uniform. He stands about five nine and seems to be about 175 pounds. His body is physically fit no doubt from his lifetime of service to the State. His pace is quick and with purpose and seems to follow a marching discipline the whole time. This guy is use to advancing upon a location in a combat group it shows he has seen action recently. The Corporal salutes his new charges and said in a metallic and robotic like voice, "Welcome to the Grand National Palace. I shall escort you to both so you may meet the most exalted leaders of the all-mighty Fatherland!" His voice was inhuman and seemed to be more of a machine than man. It was like this guy was practically worshiped the Fatherland and it's leadership as his gods!

He lifts up his DR-83 tactical rifle and hoists it up on his shoulder. He then begins to march towards the open elevator door and waits for his charges to enter the Elevator. It was no secret by now that there was camera's and even listening bugs in the Elevator listening in on everything that everyone said and done inside the Elevator.

The Death Korps Corporal was silent the whole ride down and just seemed to stare at the door waiting for the Elevator to reach the final depth to reach the H.I.V.E.

The H.I.V.E.

The first section of the HIVE was reached and the twin doors of the Elevator opened. It would seem to the Yallakian delegation like their first ascent into hell had finally ended as the party exited into the massive bunker complex. The Death Korps Corporal walked in that same rhythmic/robotic march. He seemed intent on getting the group to the meeting room and had no intentions of slowing down for anybody.

The walls had camera's watching their movements and the guards patrolling the tunnels were now becoming a more common sight. This place seemed capable to practically run the Xharnian government under ground. It seemed the Xharnians were always ready for another nuclear war. The tunnels lead to other paths and layers but the Corporal kept walking in a straight line towards the meeting room. The Death Korps Legionaries were even more intimidating they seemed like they would shoot anyone that deters from their assigned path. This place was a sensitive point for the Xharnians and they seemed ready to kill anyone that tried to enter there tunnels without proper clearance. The Corporal made sure no over eager guard tried anything. His presence was like an all clearance to the tunnel. The Legionaries stationed to guard here took one look at him and saluted after he showed them his identification papers.

The meeting room was packed with guards both Death Korps Legionaries and N.C.I.A. agents. They had serious bulked up security considerably. It seemed the leadership had all gathered right here to just to meet the Yallakian delegation and that meant the security was more than enough to thwart any possible assassination effort from dissidents and enemies of the state.

The Corporal took a good look at the Captain assign to the security. He said in his metallic voice, "The honored delegation is here captain! I have successfully brought them to see our most exalted leaders!"

The Captain with his Gas-masked face took a long look at the Yallakian woman and man and said in another robotic voice, "You have successfully brought them here. You have performed your mission rather well corporal."

The Corporal responded in his cold inhuman voice, "The gratitude from my superiors is all that matters to me Captain!"

The Captain seemed to shrug and replied, "I expected such a response from one such as you Corporal. If you keep this up you may one day bear the rank of Captain."

The Corporal quickly saluted and did an about face. His body began his standard robotic march towards the elevator…

The Captain points at Lady Saroir and said, "The time for you to see the Patron and his Central Military Command is now. You must enter the door and meet your hosts. We wish you well."

The Yallakians could see the red door with two Death Korps Legionaries standing at attention on each end. They held their DR-83 Tactical rifles to their sides and seemed to look straight ahead. They seemed to be waiting for something….

‘Thank you, Captain,’ responded the State Commander off-handedly, already moving down the last of the tunnel towards the red door. Saroir took little interest in her surroundings, having been within the Empires research facility and finding underground bunkers no different from those above the ground. Still, she was always aware of each guards watching gaze. On the other hand, Darius found the tunnel system fascinating, dawdling and constant looking around like a child in some kind of museum.

‘Darius,’ snapped Saroir without pausing or even looking at him, but it served its purpose. The diplomat refocused his attention and hurried his pace to catch up with the State Commander at the door to the meeting room.

As the pair entered the meeting room, Darius, standing beside the State Commander, bowed his head toward the Patron and the gathered Central Military Command in the customary Yallakian formal greeting. ‘On behalf of Infinite Empire, may I present the High Councilor, the Lady Saroir.’

The High Councilor too greeted the Xharnian Leadership in the formal fashion, still completely enclosed in her dark blue cloak. ‘The Empire thanks you for this invitation to meet the Central Military Command, and is willing to discuss the terms of Xharn’s acceptance into the Infinite Empire.’ In her typical lawyer fashion, the State Commander wasted little time on pleasantries, instead getting straight into the purpose of this visit.

The Central Military Command was all present and accounted for. They were seating around a rectangular table that served as their meeting room table. It was cleaned off and had several pens and papers in neat organized rows next to their specific owners. The five commanders all listening intently to lady Saroir. The minute she finished her rather short speech about joining the infinite Empire. They all waited for their leader Patron Joseph Stormberg to make his response.

The 25 year old Xharnian dictator stood up from his seat at the head of the table and replied in a pleasant tone, “The Central Military Command thanks you for coming all the way to our humble part of Irathria to meet us about joining your great Empire.”

The Patron Joseph Stormberg sat back down and said, “The Totalitarian Military Union of Xharn is not what you would call a democratic or peaceful nation. We have built ourselves up for the inevitable war that is sure to come. This nation as you can mostly likely tell is armed to the teeth and ready to do battle with any enemies both internally and externally.”

The Patron took a sip of water from his glass that was on a coaster next to him. He sipped it and added after putting his glass back down on the coaster,

“We have gathered our strength and have made ourselves a power again."

The Patron looked at both Darius and Saroir and finished,

“Despite our great increase in military strength and our brutal crackdown on dissidents. The Union is in no shape to fend for herself against every nation that would like to crush us. We know that the Novans would love to have a chance to finish us off. We have prepared for this possibility by building weapons and training our personal army of Death Korps Legionaries to fight to the death to protect our nation and our people.

We may seem like tyrants but everything we have done is in the best interest of the Fatherland and the citizens of Xharn. This is why, I have asked for you to meet us. The Totalitarian Military Union wishes to avoid such a war and would like to seek the protection of the Infinite Empire.”

The other Commanders nodded in universal agreement to their leader's speech.

‘You are most welcome, Patron,’ replied the State Commander as the Xharnian commanders were nodding their agreement to their leader. ‘The Empire has noted the efficiency with which you have rebuilt your nation. We were most impressed.’

The two Imperial representatives walked the rest of the way to the table and sat down in a couple of available chairs.

‘I have no doubt that Xharn joining the Empire will dispel any thoughts remaining ideas Novacom has of going to war with you. Our relations remain fairly strong and even as we speak representatives of the High Council are en-route for diplomatic talks.’

As Saroir spoke, Darius began to grow agitated, like something he’d forgotten was nagging at him. Or was it something he though the State Commander was missing.

‘As for the business at hand,’ continued Saroir, ‘The Imperial High Council has discussed Xharn’s request and decided that you indeed fill the requirements for a nation wishing to join the Empire.’

Darius made like he was about to speak, but Saroir cut him off with a wave off her hand.

‘Before we formalize this position however, there is one matter that we must inquire about. You mentioned a “brutal crackdown on dissidents”.’ At the mention of this Darius visibly relaxed, this is what he had been concerned about and was pleased that the State Commander hadn’t overlooked it. ‘I must ask exactly what this entails. The Empire has a strict policy on its member’s civil affairs; it’s a liability issue.’

29-10-2006, 08:29
The Patron smiled at the mention of Brutal crackdown of dissidents. He said in an almost singsong voice, “I believe you are referring to Operation Unification.”

The Patron eyed his commanders and said, “Grand Field Marshal Hector Bison please explain this operation to our guests. They have been given authorization directly from me to access this highly classified material.”

The Grand Field Marshal Hector Bison looked liked the rest of the Death Korps Legionaries. He had some differences like instead of wearing a helmet he had a S.S. officer styled hat and wore a Wolf’s head insignia on the right armband of his uniform. He stood up and looked at both Darius and Lady Saroir and said in the same robotic voice, “Operation Unification was adopted from the direct orders of the first Patron Anton Von Bureon. His glorious vision of the fatherland was a land were the people would be loyal enough to swear total obedience to government and the military. He thus decreed a set of internal directives that were passed by all facets of the Party.

The directives allowed the seizure and capturing of criminals and people considered traitors or enemies of the State. These people were at first petty criminals and communists. This operation eventually expanded to religious and social dissidents. thanks to the efforts of Patron Choi Song. He wanted to ensure the Fatherland's social and religious unification. These acts of strategic arrests and seizures was ended with the arrival of Exalted Excellency Patron Joseph Stormberg. He authorized even more harsher measures and allowed the arrest of anyone suspected of treason or being loyal to foreign powers. He also changed the laws to allow for the building of extermination camps and work programs. It is estimated today that Xharnian prisoners are never released when arrested. They are usually worked to death in gulag style death camps. They labor in mines and ammunition factories building weapons and ammunition They are even recycled upon death and their bodies are used to feed the hungry masses of Xharn as soylent food products “

This program was expanded to almost holocaust class level in human rights violations and murders. The operation is still being carried out by Commander Roger Zommoria’s Military Police.”

The Grand Field Marshal points at one of the commanders across the table from him. He then continues with his story , “This may seem sadistic and cruel to most people but the fact is Xharn would still be a third world nation if we did not implement such harsh measures to ensure the survival of our Fatherland. We have purged the heathen, the dissident, the racially inferior. They have all been cleansed to ensure that our land is secure and alive. We have feed our people and our Fatherland on the labor of our prisoners and have exterminated those that have threatened the stability of the Fatherland. The Patron himself has decreed if a citizen of Xharn is not in agreement party and the Fatherland then they are an enemy of the Union!”

Hey, didn't have alot of time so sorry about the short length.

‘The racially inferior,’ stated Darius loudly with surprise. ‘Are you serious? The Emperor would not…’

‘Darius, that’s enough,’ interjected the State Commander. Although, being sent for his role as a diplomat, the twenty-five year old did not posses the High Councilors ability to disguise his true thoughts.

‘Executing or even working criminals to death is not an issue,’ continued Saroir turning her attention from Darius, ignoring the stunned look on his face, back to the Grand Field Marshal, ‘the Empire does employ this method for many a crime itself. On the other hand though, there may be a problem with the inclusion of communists, religious and social dissidents in such a program. While these kinds of people are truly an annoyance, the Imperial Government cannot condone their extermination or the existence of mass death camps.’

‘This was the same restriction that was imposed upon Xirnium before it’s inclusion within the Empire,’ offered the High Councilor in explanation. ‘Does Xharn truly need such a measure? You will find death camps will end up causing your nation more problem than they will ever solve.’

The Patron responded to Lady Saroir’s question, “The Union has been relying on the labor of these individuals. If we close down the camps. We would have a mass influx of prisoners with no way of dealing with them. We have several prisons that are full to the brim. We can not afford to have this dissidents and other socially corrupt people amongst the loyal citizens of the fatherland.”

The Patron sighed and added, “The other problem is the fact if we shut down our operations we would also have to find a way to compensate for their labor. They have become a very crucial part of Xharn’s economy. We can not afford to take a massive recession thanks to the lost of our prisoners slave labor.”

The other commanders nodded in agreement again, The Grand Field Marshal also added in his robotic voice, “What do we do with them if we can not execute them in mass quantities? We can’t send them back home and say were sorry. These people may want revenge and that could lead to possible uprisings and rebellions. We must have the assurance of the Infinite Empire that they can either kill these dissidents or exile them from the Fatherland for all eternity.”

The Patron smiled at the suggestion with his unusual wolfish grin…

‘Perhaps then we can stature an alternative where such labor will not be lost,’ replied the High Councilor. ‘As I have said the Empire cannot condone ‘death camps’ or mass executions, but we of course would not wish to cripple Xharns economy, so perhaps if the conditions of these camps be made decent enough to keep the prisoners in a fit state, though obviously not enough to make their lives comfortable, and executions or any barbaric prisoner treatment were discontinued, then such ‘criminal work camps’ would be acceptable.

‘And after all,’ added Saroir, ‘a healthy worker is an efficient and longer lasting worker. You could place all current and future convicted criminals and anyone currently serving jail time into these camps to sustain the labor rate, or perhaps even increase it. The so-called ‘social and religious dissidents’ who haven’t actually committed a criminal act could then be simply exiled from the Fatherland, rather than killed.’

‘What do you think?’ she inquired to the Patron and gathered Commanders, finishing her proposed death camp substitute. ‘Such a program would be entirely acceptable to the Imperial Government.’

The Patron Joseph Stromberg sat quietly and seemed to be thinking about the proposal made by the Yallakian delegation. The Patron after several minutes finally said, “That is possible we could increase the sentences of prisoners and make the work camps more productive by keeping the prisoners healthy. The idea of exiling political prisoners and social dissidents could be done. It would require a bit of planning and to halt our extermination operations would take time.”

The other commanders continue to nod in agreement. They all know ending all extermination operation would be difficult consider the camps being in relatively secluded areas. It would take time and energy to send a message and get them to halt their rather brutal operations.

The Patron continues his speech, “We can do it but it can’t be done right away. I would suggest sending the orders immediately and hope they reach the major camps by morning.”

‘Excellent,’ answered the High Councilor in her usual firm but softly spoken voice. ‘No doubt changing your entire criminal punishment system will take some time but the Empire is patient and more than willing to give you the time you need to plan and carry out the transition of the camp organisation and running to a more tolerable level.’

Pausing, Saroir turned to Darius and after a whispered conversation, the diplomat slid the folder of documents he had carried with him since landing in Xharn across the table towards her. As the High Councilor reached over and picked up the folder with her left hand the dark blue cloak fell away from that side revealing the finely made black dress beneath and the sparkling gold and ruby ring she wore.

‘There is only one last thing I must ask you now, Patron,’ continued the State Commander to the Xharnian leader and gathered Commanders as she took possession of the folder and began to open it. ‘Does your nation bear any grievances or hostilities towards any current member nations of the Infinite Empire; namely Xirnium, McKagan or Lamehk?’

While she waited for a reply, the High Councilor removed several pages from the folder and put them onto the table in front of her, before handing the folder back to Darius.

The Patron Joseph Stormberg and his commanders began chatting amongst themselves to make sure there were no grievances between the Union and the other nations mentioned. The Commanders after several minutes finally all agreed the only issue they had was completed after the fifteen year sentence of a Xharnian intelligence team in Xirnium. The team had been returned and promptly executed thus ending the stand off of the incident.

The Patron Joseph Stromberg proclaimed, “The Union has no vendettas, grievances, or any other hostile intent to the nations mentioned.”

The commanders all nodded in solemn agreement to their leaders response. The Union was obviously united in this purpose….

High Councilor Saroir smiled as the Xharnian government concluded that there were no issues between themselves or any nations of the Infinite Empire. ‘Well, that is all the information I require for this determination,’ she said succinctly, ‘and am pleased to inform you that so long as the changes in your death camps are carried out, the Infinite Empire hereby accepts Xharn into its protection.’

Sliding the few A4 pages that she had earlier retrieved from the folder and placed in front of her across to the Patron, the High Councilor continued. ‘This is the formal agreement which Xharn and the Empire will be agreeing to. Please read it carefully and if you accept, sign at the bottom.’

The Patron Joseph Stormberg and his fellow Commanders had read the articles of the pact carefully. It was easy enough for the military men to understand and it seemed to be more of a benefit to the Xharnian government than a hindrance.

The militarily dressed commanders had all brought their own pens and began to sign the document. They had all been ready for this moment and signed their names in order going from the most powerful position to the lowest. It took a totally of a few seconds but the pact signature looked something like this:

The Central Military Command:

The Supreme Commander of the National Armed Services: Patron Joseph Stormberg

The Commander of the Death Korps: Grand Field Marshal Hector Bison

The Commander of the National Army: Supreme Field Marshal Victor Von Carstein

The Commander of the National Air Command: Supreme Air Marshal Kyle Lorthin

The Commander of the National Navy: Supreme Fleet Marshal Christopher Blair

The Commander of the Military Police: Supreme Police Marshal Roger Zormoria

Taking back the document Saroir again placed it before her and then taking a pen passed to her by Darius, signed the bottom underneath the signatures of the Central Military Command.

On behalf of the High Council of Arrandin, and the Infinite Empire of Yallak:
High Councilor Saroir, Imperial State Commander

‘It is done then, Gentlemen,’ she stated, returning the pen to her assistant. ‘And a historic occasion it is too. With today’s signing the population of the Infinite Empire now exceeds sixteen billion people.’
