New Chicago, Siap Investigators from the Siapian Business Coalition occupied the offices, burrowing through vast stacks of documents and file cabinets like festering insets on the bloated corpse of a beast that died a slow death.
It was just three days ago when the former CEO Ryan Kujan was found dead two blocks away from his flat with two gunshot wounds to his head. Local security police investigators discovered that his wallet had been removed, and from the laceration on his arm, his watch had also been removed quite forcefully.
It was in the execution of his will that the discrepencies of the investment firm were revealed. Having no family that he was on good terms with, the majority of his funds were to be donated to his alma mater, the Esmund University College of Business and Economics. It was discovered that the money he had been receiving in profit sharing each year was several times greater than the revenue of the firm Also, much of the money that was being managed had no existing owner, or simply did not exist. Also, a large quantity of bearer-bonds were discovered in a safe with a fake passport in a concealed safe in the CEO's office.
The fiscal irregularities and other suspicious circumstances in the end of Aspen's existence have caused some to question whether the murder of the former CEO was not done as a means to prevent further corruption from being discovered, however investigators state that Mr. Kujan's untimely death has, in fact, revealed more about the internal corruption than could have been discovered while he was alive.
It was also discovered by investigators that Aspen had ties to the controversial Griffincrest Corporation. The Business Coalition, which has presently frozen all of Aspen's assets, officially acknowledges that these ties existed, but will not take any action against the Griffincrest Corporation, with the chairman saying that "there is not enough evidence to prove anything of significance."
"We have no official stance on the latest events surrounding the Griffincrest Corporation." He added.
