Disappearances in Gnufasur! (Welcome Back Thread/RP)

Location: A Deserted Island
[Key in BGM (http://www.elorhe.com/JBE/air.mid), play once. No SFX.] (OOC In other words, I'm saying that the below actions should all take place during the span of one play-through of the background music. The background music will be the only sound, no voices or dialouge or other sound-effects.)

Rain fell from the sky, a heavy torrent descending from the heavens. But even the rain couldn't wash away the blood that gathered on the small hill. The hill was dead center in the island, it was the last safety zone.

Already there were dead bodies here. Children from the Sixth Grade Class who had died here earlier. All the other zones on the island had become Danger zones. They were all forced to come to the hill to fight.

Only six remained. Three were already on the hill, while the other three made a rush at it. One male neko, a student of 14 like all the others, burst through the forage of the forest surrounding the hill, a sickle raised high over his head as he charged another male Neko who was staring up the hill, his fingers laced into the chainlink fence that surrounded it.

The sickle descended on the unsuspecting Neko, burying itself deep into his shoulder. The victim turned, and saw the face of his killer. Immediately upon seeing his face the killer knew that he had just killed his friend, the realization of what happened setting in on him. Both fell to their knees. The killer reach out a hand to steady his victim.

He never saw the female neko on the other side of the fence. Smirking, she rose a shotgun to bear on the first Neko, then pulled the trigger, the single barrel on the pump-action shotgun discharging it's deadly load.

The two males went flying backwards, landing face up in a puddle of blood and water. Neither moved, both died.

The female Neko turned and charged up the hill, pumping the shotgun, ejecting the spent casing and chambering a new round. A glint of light behind her, and a whirl of motion. A thrown machete buried itself into the back of her head. The female Neko's eyes rolled into the back of her head, she spun and fell.

A male student was scaling the fence, hopping over it and running up to the other female. He stoped and stood over her body, looking at it for a long second, before he took the girl's shotgun.

A light flashed on his collar, and he paniced. There wasn't much time left until the collar exploded.

Taking the shotgun, dertermined to the the last one standing, he ran as fast as he could to the top of the hill, where the last two student were.

Muddy, with his school uniform tattered and a blue banadana around his head, he reached the top of the hill. There he found a single female student, her face in her heads, as if she were crying. A grin of victory crossed his face as he leveled the shotgun at her head.

Before he could pull the trigger, he was tackled from behind, a flurry of two knives stabbingdeep into his body as the now last male student from the class plunged two long knives into the boy's body repeatedly.

[Fade out BGM. Fade in SFX.]

The collars were beeping and the light flashing more rapidly now. They were the last two students out of fourty, three bloody days of fighting and killing. This was the third day.

The female student had cried most of the time, the male promising to protect her until the very end. This promise he had kept.

With tears streaming down her face, she looked up at the boy, and shouted, "I love you Donoven!"

The male student nodded, replying wth a smile. "I love you too." He rose the shotgun and pointed it at her. "I'm sorry."

With a single trigger pull, the girl's body went toppling backwards, blood spraying from the gun wound as she landed a few feet away from her last postion.

As her heart stopped beating, so too did Donoven's collar stop beeping... He fell to his knees and stared up at the sky, ran falling onto his face. He screamed...

Present Day, Present Time
Location: Alhaelc City Police Department

The commissioner sat at his desk, pouring over the papers that were in front of him. Every month for the past fifteen month, an entire school class had disappeared from the country. There was never any ransom demands, or any sort of sign that whoever was taking the children was planning on giving them back. After the third dissappearance, security on all the schools had been beefed up.

After the seventh, cops were added to the security forces. After the tenth disappearance, the President himself authorized the National Guard to defend the schools. After the fourteenth, EHAV Mercenaries were added. And yet despite all this, the disappearances continued. Parents and families were starting to boycott schools now. Entire schools became empty as the majority of the students refused to show up.

This was an epidemic. If something wasn't done soon, the whole future of Gnufasur would go down the drain.

Gathering up all the information he had on this case, he faxed it all to the Department of Foreign Affairs. It was out of his hands now. The President was going to turn to outsiders to solve their problem.

One Week Ago
Location: A small town in the middle of a desert...

Stephan's beer had gone warm. Not the simple lose-it's-chil after several hours warm, but tepid. Almost like bathwater. Stephan grimaced; he'd only bought it ten minutes ago. That's how bloody hot it was. He needed to get out of this god-forsaken desert country. He didn't even know what it was called. Who cared? Not like there were any jobs around.

A message on his handheld beeped and his ears twitched forward, hazel eyes narrowing as he surveyed it. It was from the Network, posted recently, within the last several days.

From: President Rufus Mew the Third
To: Allies, Mercenaries, and Private Investigators
Subject: A Job.

Throughout my country, a number of young children have gone missing. After months of scouring and investigations, our people have turned up no sign of the missing children. The job is two-fold. First: Find the missing children, and return them to Gnufasur.

Second: Prevent the next disappearance. Bring the kidnappers to justice...

More information will be available upon your arrival.

Whoever completes this job will be paid quite handsomely...

May Long Life and Good Health be Yours Always,
President Rufus Mew III

Stephan read over the message consideringly. On the one hand, the idea of being paid handsomely greatly appealed to his steadily emptying pockets - how long had it been since he'd had a decent meal? On the other hand... Gnufasur was a difficult country to work in. It didn't help that he was foreign. Although, since his mother had been a Neko the genes showed through quite strongly; he even had a fair understanding of the language. Still... he might run into trouble. Although, since the job had been posted by the leader of the country, perhaps the attitude would be different to normal.

Stephan sighed and eyed the message dolefully. After a few seconds he snapped his handheld shut, drained his beer and stood, paying as he left. "What the heck, a job's a job," he muttered to himself as he took a train to the local airfield. "I just hope I won't regret this."

Present Day
Location: Gnufasurian International Airport

Stephan inhaled deeply as he exited the plane, savouring the clean, cool air. He had to admit, it was a pretty nice country. Shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans, he went to collect his luggage.

(OOC: I'll leave off there as I'm not sure what Gnufasurian airport policy is. Is he likely to meet someone? Get stopped? Get arrested?)

Bright amber eyes looked around excitedly, and her ears twitched as the plane - a scarily primitive form of transportation- began it's final approach. Though Zaida had found that she had grown somewhat less apprehensive with each landing. She'd been here on Earth for three weeks now and had taken exactly five flights in that time, this last one to get to Gnufasur.

The plane one again landed with out incident, and taxied towards the terminals of the Gnufasurian International Airport. This was apparently, according to all the information she had been able to garner, the only airport in the entire country. " Rather isolationist of them" She murmured to herself, in her native tongue. Her translator nanos would help with the local language, though she had a small knack for picking pu new languages quickly. Standing as disembarcation began she smoothed down the deep cobalt flirty skirt she wore and straightened the gaily printed silk shell top. Her demi boots werew of supple black suede as were the protective gloves she wore. They effectively hid that instead of finger nails that she had quite respectable claws.

The terminal was clean, well and interestingly decorated, and her small amount of luggage arrived in the delivery area quickly. She had her passport and other identification ready in case it was needed.

The international planes landed without incident at the airport. Littering about the airport were humans and various other races.

If either Stephen or Zaida had an eye for it, they would notice that although there were quite a few humans within the airport terminal, none left the terminal itself nor did any enter. It was clear that the humans within were simply waiting for their various passenger airliners to refuel before leaving.

There were quite a few entrances into and out of the air terminal, although all were guarded by no less then two airport security guards.

As the two Nekos left the airliner loading area and entered into the large and vary comfortable waiting area, both are approached seperately by airport security guards.

"Fryd yna oui tuehk rana? EHAV Ubanydejac yna du myht uhmo yd dra EHAV Bnejyda Yencdneb." The one talking to Stephen said quickly, sighing and holding out his hand. "Mad sa caa ouin EHAV ID yht E'mm cissuh y criddma du dyga oui du dra EHAV Lusbuiht."

The one who approched Zaida shakes his head upon seeing her, saying "Oui sicd pa y nuugea sanl. EHAV ubanydejac tuh'd ryja du myht yd dra Ehdanhydeuhym Yenbund."

He mutters under his breath, "Tuh'd drao daylr oui draca drehkc eh Pycel?" Then says to her outloud. "Muug, massa caa ouin EHAV ID yht E'mm lymm y criddma du dyga oui du dra EHAV Lusbuiht."

While he really didn't like flying, there wasn't much other way to his new operational area, besides swimming, and national governments didn't take too kindly to black-garbed assassins showing up on their beaches.

This assignment, like most others, looked like it would be a cakewalk, at least after he located the missing children. Then again, most assignments that looked like easy money turned out to be more trouble than they were worth. That last contract he'd taken clearing out opposition for one of his guild's many clients had been a nice enough distraction, but simple street-thugs didn't stimulate his artistic side like child-snatchers did.

In a rare instance of his scarce morals resurfacing, Jekel Slipstream had considered how he would deal with this kidnapper, if and when they met. He'd decided to eviscerate the individual after surgical castration, then decapitate the corpse and place the head somewhere obvious for the authorities to locate. Oddly, he didn't know if that would work since he was the autority in this instance. As a temporary EHAV mercenary, and using their private airstrip, he was able to land fully equipped and didn't have to use his usual chef cover identity.

He'd exited the aircraft clad in a set of well-fitting black rip-stop BDU-style pants and jacket, bloused boots made for his Argonian feet, a standard tactical vest worn over the jacket. The tactical belt held several sheaths for his knives, and on his right side supported a thigh rig that held his Glock, a .45 caliber model 21 variation. The front of the holster featured a magazine pouch, but Jekel had simply crammed a surpressor in it, forgoing any sort of additional ammunition. Besides, .45 cailber Federal Hydra-Shock rounds put extremely large holes in soft targets. He doubted he'd need more than the factory magazine held.

Now he made sure he had all the tools he'd need for his operation. His knives were first on the check-list: A personal favorite, the Cold Steel OSS Sub-Hilt Fighter, was situated on both his left and right sides, he always carried two of those. A SOG Tech-Bowie at the small of his back, above a Trident model by the same company. His SOG SEAL knife hung upside down on the left side of his vest, while a SOG Seal Pup hung next to it offering a shorter blade for closer work. A Spyderco Crossbill was clipped under the right shoulder strap for quick, last-ditch action, and his trusty Benchmade Infidel was clipped securely inside his right boot, in a special sheath.

Next he made sure that his freon can was still on his belt, which was a vital tool for smashing locks. He also carried a set of more conventional picks, but those took longer. The last item was his pair of Cold Steel Delta-Darts, hidden up his sleeve above his tactical-gloved hands. They came in handy as hidden means of dispatching an opponent when taken by surprise.

Equipped as he was, he had made doubly sure that his EHAV ID badge was plainly visible, the laminated card clipped securely to the right shoulder of his tactical vest. While he might have been somewhat overly-armed for such a seemingly simple assignment, Jekel always liked to have multiple choices on hand for his artwork, just as a painter never used a single brush. Each knife had been chosen from his extensive collection for a specfic purpose in his most probable mission scenario. His Cold Steel OSS knives with their sub-hilts injection-molded into the Kraton handles and clip-point double-edge blades, afforded him superior control for general-purpose work. Both the SOG Trident and Tech-Bowie were heavy blades sutied to hacking and slashing attacks, where the SEAL and SEAL Pup featured partial serrations on their blades, and were useful for sawing through bone in need be, which was why he had the two lengths of blade. Finally, the Crossbill and the Infidel served as last-resort weapons, and both featured assisted-opening with a single hand. The Crossbill had a forward-hooking blade perfect for slashing at necks, while the Infidel's spear point was ideal for stabbing someone in the gut.

Jekel really didn't know where to go, and his last-minute studying on his flight over of the Neko language hadn't helped much. Oddly, it was similar to the Khajit tongue, which he knew fairly well. Going on instinct like usual, the Quiet Butcher headed for the nearest building...

You must be a rookie merc. EHAV operatives don't have to land at the International Airport. Don't they teach you these things in Basic? Look, lemme see your EHAV ID and I'll call a shuttle to take you to the EHAV Compound.

Zaida's nano translator, tucked in the base of her brain, took no time at at all providing her a translation. Getting a preset had been all but impossible, and wildly expensive as well, and since she had more than ample credits available she had gotten the best available.

"Thank you, but no I am not a "rookie merc"... I am merely a visitor. Where would I go to present my passport?" She replied politely, as she gave the security officer her best gently feminine look. Then she smiled, bringing out her dimples. "But thank you for saying I look ...well, dangerous...I guess" She burbbled happily.

Location: The EHAV Private Airstrip, due north-east of the Royal Palace

The air strip where the Argonian's plane landed was all but deserted. A few hangars housing various older airplanes and an empty air traffic control tower where all that remained here. Once Gnufasurian had switched to the new style of aircraft, the now defunct airstrips were all but abandoned...

A refueling depot sat here between two hangars, and the plane Jekel had taken in was there, refueling for its return trip.

Besides the hangars and the air traffic control tower, there was also the vary plain looking barracks, a squat reinforced building that looked like it took take more then a few missile strikes before falling.

The door was unlocked, and swung open inward easily. An empty card table sat here, covered with dust, the four folding chairs which surrounded it showed signs of serious lack of use. Leaning against a soda vending machine was a Neko in modular body armor, a head of burnette hair staring straight up at the ceiling, his arms crossed over his chest.

The Neko, a certain Leo JanaKin, took notice of the lizard, lowering his head to level his gaze at the scaled mercenary. "You must be Jekel Slipstream. I was told to expect you at the airstrip." He craned his neck, then unfolded his arms. The gauntlets on his forearms looked heavy, and were too thick to be just simple gauntlets. Leo was was just shy of being internationally known for his use of wristblades, a set of three deadly sharp blades hidden in each of his gauntlets, which would spring into action with a precise flick of his wrist.

"I'm Leo JanaKin. The President himself wants to meet you, and I'd rather not hang out at this relic any longer. You ready to go?" He asked, speaking in English so as to not trouble the Argonian any.

Location: Gnufasurian International Airport

The airport guard seemed taken a back by the catgirl's words. "I see... I'm sorry for my mistake then." He spoke this time in English, bowing to her. "I'm afraid Gnufasur has very strict policies regarding who may enter the country. If you hadn't already filled out the entrance exam, you will have to take the exam on the premise."

He sighed, looking around for something, "I wouldn't recommened it though. The exam can really only be passed by someone who's born in Gnufasur, and it takes three days for the special pass to be shipped to the airport. Without the pass, even if you did pass the exam you will be arrested and deported on sight by law officers."

As he spoke, one of the humans in the waiting area turned on the nearby T.V.

It was set to a news channel, translated into english so as to be easily understood by the people waiting inside.

Standing on a podium was the President's Daughter, Yumi Mew. She was in the middle of a speech. "-scared, but that's no reason to not go to school. I have faith in the ability of the security guards, and so I too will be attending public school. Let's all go to school together and be friends, okay?"

The channel was changed, cutting off whatever else the daughter of the President had to say...

The airport guard caught the part of the speech and seemed to remember something. "Unless you're here for a... Specific reason?" He asked her.

Jekel nodded slowly, sizing up this new acquaintance...

"I don't much enjoy flying, Mr. Jana-Kin. I'm not much for diplomatic relations either..."

Jekel separated the last name a bit to allow for his tongue to fully pronounce the word. It had been a while since he'd used English in conversation, but it had been even longer since he'd spoken in the Feline tongue. He didn't like politicians, which made them that much easier to kill, but seeing as the man, at least he assumed it was a man from the use of the word 'he', was going to be paying his fee, it seemed polite to meet him. Who knew? Maybe there were some lucrative contracts in the future involving the president? He'd have to make careful note of the building during the meeting...

"Am I to expect a mission briefing from him?"

His accent lengthened the 's' letters in the word 'mission' a bit more than needed, but he still got his point across. Jekel's persona was all about business, and when summoned he didn't like to tarry about with governmental lackeys and bureaucrats when he could be out accomplishing the task he'd been assigned to complete. He also didn't like leaving his craft unattended. The assassin pointed a small device at the vehicle, after which it bleeped in a short sequence of tones and lit up slightly...

Leo nodded, then stepped to one side of the soda machine. "There won't be any flying involved." He said, holding out one hand over the buttons on the machine, adding, "I hope you like orange soda." He said as his hand depressed the button depicting an orange flavored carbonated drink.

He releases the button, and the machine rumbles, a can of orange soda falling into the respository. The machine kept rumbling, then it began to rise into the air. There was a hidden elevator under the soda machine!

Within this elevator was a tall, slender Neko, with blonde hair and pur white fur on his tail. He wore an all white suit, his crystal blue eyes still sharp despite his age. He held in his hands a manella envelope.

"Hello." He said as the elevator finally stopped. "I am President Rufus Mew the Third."

He nodded to Leo, then to Jekel. "Everything you need to know about the case is in this envelope." He said, giving it to Leo, who in turn passed it over to Jekel. "But I'll sum up briefly... Over the past fifteen months, entire school classes have disappeared. That's over 600 students, all between the ages of fourteen and seventeen. As you can imagine, there have been a number of riots and protests..."

He pauses as he starts to cough into a handerchief, Leo putting out a hand to steady the older Neko. The cough was a bad one, a sign of detoriating health and possibly an overload of stress. Once the small fit passed, the Neko continues, "I am entirely confident that the children are not within the country, as our own Internal Self Defense forces have scoured every inch of our nation. Included in the envelope is also every flight and boat to have left the nation during the span of the disappearances, including their captains, destinations, and port of origins."

He motions with a hand to Leo, "You may, if you wish, have Leo JanaKin assist you. He, like all Gnufasurians, knows his country, and may have to translate for you if you wish to question anyone."

Within the Envelope, Jekel would find nearly all the information gathered so far, which wasn't much. Each of the disppearances was entire classes at a time, some were taken rihgt out of school buses ether on route to school or on a school sponsored trip, even one disappeared from their classroom right on school grounds. There were little to no evidence for each disappearance, which suggested professisonals and possibly more then one culprit. No eyewitnesses either.

Among the information was a dossier on Kitano Ramorr, who had taught five of the fifteen missing classes. It was also noted that each of Kitano's five classes disappeared while on a school sponsored trip to a local zoo...

Tucked among the papers was a bank note for $300,000 USD. A not so subtle incentive, no doubt...

"I wish this matter resolved quickly and without drawing any more outside attention then need be. The less the world at large knows of this incident, the better." The President said.
Wandering Argonians

Jekel tucked the envelope into his tactical vest, beneath the hidden Crossbill...

"Indeed. You will place no constraints on my methods? And what of the culprit?"

There was a hint of malice creeping into Jekel's eyes. While 'possessed of loose morals' didn't quite go far enough to convey his personal views on the 'world at large', and he had killed a few children in his career, he wasn't too keen on snuffing out such young lives. Perhaps a bit of self-righteous retribution was in order? He'd greatly enjoy working such a dastardly individual over, one incision at a time.

He hoped that he'd be allowed to do things his own way, which was silent and swift enough, but a tad messy for those who got in his way or withheld information. While not a professional interrogator, he did have a few ways of extracting information from unwilling individuals. Jekel wasn't much for cleaning up after himself, either. Assassinations dictated that he remove any traces of his presence from a crime scene, for his own personal security and that of the guild which he served. In cases of government-sanctioned action like this one, however, the powers-that-be knew who had committed the deed, and didn't seem to give a damn...

President Mew nods his head slowly. "So long as no further children go missing, and the ones who are are safely returned, you may carry out the job in any manner you deem fit. And as far as the culprit or culprits go... Slaughter them..."

He turns to Leo, nods, then lays his hand upon one of the pillars supporting the soda machine above him. "Do you have any futher questions?"

"Raiyen."
The addressed party looked up from his meditation to spot another ninja that he'd grown up with. "Yes, what is it Miguzi?"
"Sensei-sama wishes to see you."
"Understood." Raiyen replied as he stood, going over the reasons he might have been summoned. The only two likely reasons were disciplinary or a mission and since he couldn't think of any reasons he might be punished as his skills were steadily improving it was likely a mission.

A few minutes, he arrived at the building where Sensei-sama would be found. Removing his sandels, he took a seat in the Seiza position while waiting to be acknowladged. A few minutes later, "I take it you know why you were called."
"You have a mission for me."
"Correct, there are some troubling happenings in the nation of Gnufasur you are to investigate it. We shall contact thier President and arrange an audience so you can get some additional information."
"Understood Sensei-sama."
"Dismissed."

Raiyen stood and departed to prepare. He would catch a plane shortly to Gnufasur to aid in the investigation about the missing children.

Zaida realized her mistake and switched to the Gnufasurian language preset in the translator. "My apologies, I have been speaking english so much of late. I hope I'm pronouncing the words correctly." She spoke a little slowly, careful to match what the translator was sounding out in her mind. Then she unfolded the sheaf of documents she carried. "I have a visa from your government." Zaida held out the top one to him, with it's official stamps. She had been assured that it was all proper, but of course, when travelling outside one's home territory one never knew. "And I am a highly skilled investigator."

The news cast about the missing school children pricked her already feline curiousity. Perhaps there was some thing that might be obvious to an outsider while those in the forrest weren't seeing the individual trees.

Jekel might have smiled, if his anatomy had blessed him with the means to...

"Slaughter them..."

He liked the sound of that...

"I am honored by your trust, Mr. President... If your agent would like to accompany me, I will not stop him, so long as he does not interfere..."

The assassin paused for a moment, allowing what he'd said to register...

"I take my leave of you..."

He turned slowly, walking towards his craft with his security remote in hand. The vehicle beeped twice, then quit glowing. The hatch on the small star-fighter opened, allowing Jekel to climb inside. The hatch closed behind him, and his clawed hands worked across the holographic control panels swiftly, calling forth a thundering wave of guitar riffs and heavy metal drums.

It was his preferred reading music, and he removed the thin dossier from his tac-vest for review. The two biggest clues were the local zoo and an individual named Kitano Ramorr, a male teacher who had instructed five of the missing classes. Five was too large a number to be a coincidence, and the fact that he was still alive and hadn't died fighting off the individuals trying to abduct his students spoke of involvement as well. Then again, not all races displayed the willingness to sacrifice themselves for the greater good that Argonians did. Jekel considered this a fault, but his opinions didn't matter in the course of his duties. The Deathwraith computer didn't have any contracts out of Ramorr, nor did they have a file on him. It seemed Jekel would be doing his own intel work on this operation. His eyes drifted slowly towards the upper portion of the cockpit, where his current on-board equipment was displayed. The small green outline graphic of the standard-issue UMP-45 submachine gun glowed on the screen, next to a small graphic of a knife. Jekel tapped the knife with a claw, bringing up a three-screen display of all the knives he currently had on board, not that he needed any more than he had.

After about an hour of review, the assassin folded the papers within the folder and tucked them in a cargo pocket before exiting the craft. His first stop was the school Kitano Ramorr taught at. Jekel doubted he'd still be teaching, but he might be able to acquire a personal address...

The Airport security guard nodded quickly. "I was told you expect someone such as yourself." He still spoke in English, probably to be polite. "If you will come with me, I will bring you to the man giving out the job details."

He had glanced over the Visas she had presented to him. It had been a while since he had seen someone carrying such things, but he could tell things were in order.

Making sure she was following, he takes her beyond a door marked "Yidrunewat Bancuhham Uhmo" in bold yellow letters. Unlocking the door beyond the first with a rather unique key, he holds it open for Zaida.

"I am not permitted to go beyond this point." He informed her. The room beyond the two doors was a simple 10 by 10 cell-like chamber, consisting of a single chair set in the middle of the room and a flatscreen monitor against the wall facing the chair. The monitor was blank, for the moment...

The guard motioned for her to enter...
