The gun cocked...the woman screamed...the trigger squeezed...the shot rang out...

Charlie Ross jumped from his cot in a cold sweat, screaming. His heart raced as he exhaled and inhaled heavily, trying to focus, but he felt light headed. He brought his right hand to his head as a surge of pain and anxiety shot through him. Charlie looked around the plain room. It was white but dark at the same time. All of a sudden...the walls began to close in, slowly moving inwards. He leaped out of the cot and backed up against another wall which also began to move. The scared man hurried to the center of the room and spun his body around to see all the walls marching towards him. He pushed against one wall but to no avail.
"Help me!!" he exclaimed outward, but nothing.

"It's happening again" a voice said from the darkness.
"Quickly, sedate him before he hurts himself!" said an older man.
All of a sudden phantom hands reached out and grabbed Charlie, he tried to fight but the hands were too strong. They forced him to the ground and he felt a prick in the arm. The walls quickly began to retreat and the headache subsided. His heart beat calmed, his eyes closed.

A light flashed on the poor man's face. His eyes opened to see several people standing over him. People who were familiar but unknown.
"Perhaps we should move him," a woman in a white coat said to the older man.
"That would be the best course of action. This is the fourth time it's happened. We'll put him in the cells in the basement." The older man replied with an emotionless response.
"Are you sure? That might not be the best..."
"Just have him moved, Dr.Jensen" the old man walked out the room. Charlie was strapped to a gurny and he tried to free himself.
"Please calm down, Mr.Ross", Dr.Jensen said, her eyes looking into his.
"W-Where am I?" he asked in a paniced voice.
"You're in Archangel Asylum" she replied.

Alice Watson woke up in her white walled room and rolled into a ball as she lay in bed.

she had lost track of the time she had spent here and sometimes she couldn't even remember her own name.

Still she could do one thing apart from eat and sleep.

she had asked for a pull up bar and got it and did her usual 20 pull ups every morning before she did anything else. Even having this much space was a luxury considering that she had spent a year chained to a wall in a 5 foot square cell.

She got washed and dressed in vest and pair of track bottoms and waited for the clockwork like visit from one of the staff and while she waited she sat up in bed.

Jacob's peaceful slumber was rudly interupted by a shrill beeping. He opened his eyes and looked at his watch, it was time for rounds. He sighed, rolled out of the cot, and put his caot back on. He opened the door to the on-call room and groaned as the mid-day light stung his eyes. He rubbed it off, and picked up his first chart.

He walked to the room, and looked in. Alice Watson was a regular here and was ready to go. He opened the door and stepped in.

OOC: Pardon the lenghty intro, I like to describe.

IC: “Lychman! In my office!” Erick Lychman (http://www.technomagi.com/who/erick.jpg) was in for it again. Yesterday, he underwent another case that got him on the front-page news again, and whether or not it was a good thing depended if the victim preferred to be praised by their friends or their boss. Erick went into the commissioner’s office and sat himself down in front of Commissioner Robert Lewis (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/ca/Batman_photos_oldman.jpg).
“Hey Rob. What’s up?”
“Oh not much Lychman… Just the fact that you really seemed to have done it again.” The commissioner put a newspaper (http://home.hiwaay.net/~brogers/Cayman-Car-Wrecks/images/cayman-car-wreckA.JPG) in front of Erick and showed him just what happened yesterday. After this, Erick could tell what Robert was talking about, ending his assignment with a literal bang. Erick was trying to catch three armed robbers from a Kroger’s who stole $750 in cash and $200 in canned food. He caught a ride from a nearby taxi driver and shot two of the thieves’ tires, driving into the metal fence.
Erick commented, “Yeah, that was pretty cool huh?”
Robert answered, “… Damn right it was Lychman. You got those three into our prison cells and they’re due for court in two weeks.” Erick was really surprised when the commissioner gave this answer. When he caused as much unnecessary damage as he did today, he always got a $500 decrease in monthly payment or a 1 month suspension. The difference though was that he actually got somewhere in the case, but even that got a scowling from the commissioner warning that he would be fired if he tried it again. “Anyway, you might know what day it is right?”
Erick answered, “Er… Thursday?”
Rob corrected, “No. As of today, it has been one year since you joined the force.”
Erick nodded in understanding, “I see… I’m not much of day counter."
Robert continued, “And in honor of the occasion, and from last night, I decided to spare your dignity by not getting you one of those cupcakes, but this.” He threw Erick a folder for another case. Erick looked into it and saw pictures of three teenagers, a male and a female Caucasian and a towering African-American. Erick could immediately tell what the case was when he saw the pictures and chuckled at what he saw.
Erick asked, “This is my anniversary present huh? An easy investigation?”
Robert nodded in conferment and added, “You might want to check the place Lychman…”
Erick looked at the folder and saw a location name that stood out to him: Archangel Asylum. According to the file, the teens were last seen goofing around the backyard of the building and weren’t seen since. Erick knew this place all to well, he heard rumors about crazy things going on in the building before but he never thought the police would get involved in something this weird.
He also knew the place as sort of his “reunion home”. Ever since Archangel Asylum was built back in 1930, every one of his family members was placed into that asylum. Just six years ago his mother came down with agoraphobia and his older sister gained advanced sleep phase syndrome the year after. The asylum became their home ever since. People in the city thought it was just a matter of time before Erick was next and could not even so much as get within three feet of any woman who noticed him.
Erick asked, “Hey uh… is there any other assignment I can take?”
Robert answered, “Well Lychman, there are six worried parents waiting for their kids back and all the other PI’s are on investigations elsewhere. Now you understand this: you take this case and you won’t have to pay for the damages you’ve made in the last case.” The commissioner slammed bill onto his desk and poked at it saying, “This is the damage you caused from the last case, possibly the most you've ever caused. If you don’t take this case, the city is going to think we care about finding murderers rather than we do saving lives, and I think I could reserve a spot for you in the janitor wing if you would prefer that over this.”
Erick was frightened by what the size of the bill would be in all those damages. Erick decided he had no choice if he wanted to keep a good salary, he would have to go to the asylum and maybe meet a few relatives.
He nodded in submission, “Okay Rob… You win. I’ll take the case.”
Robert answered, “That I like to hear. Well, Pete’s in his basement right now waiting for you to arrive at the asylum. He’ll keep you posted whenever there’s something important to tell you or you have something to say to him. I suggest you get going Lychman.”
Erick stood up and left saying, “I will. See you later Rob.” So this was Erick’s punishment for causing the damage, being sent to the asylum he never wanted to even set foot in…

She then asked "could i have some paper and pencil? I'm starting to remember what that evil man did to me and its in my dreams"

"So, your making progress?" He said while handing her his clipboard, a blank sheet of paper, and a very dull wax pencil (for obvious reasons). "Do you think you coud remeber what he looks like, or mabey why he did it?" he asked, pulling a stool in for him to sit on.

"I don't know why he did it" Alice replied in her northern english accent and accepted the clip board and wax pencil.

"i just came here for a holiday" she added as she sketched the small cell that she had been kept in. it was bare apart from a mattress,a blanket, a toilet and a table with a jug of water and a cup on it.

she then drew the chains that hung from the walls. she cried as she did this vaguely remembering the many times he had forced himself on her and unable to get away from him because of the chains.

"he kept me there in chains and treated me like a sexual plaything" she managed to say between tears and sometimes there were other men as well.

I couldn't see them since he blindfolded me when they were around and I cried myself to sleep everynight"

She had rolled up into a ball again, this her usual reaction when she remembered fragments of her ordeal.

"I'll let you rest now, I'll have them bring you in some breakfast." With that, he got up, moved the stool outside, and closed and locked the door. He glanced back at her and jotted a few notes on her chart, returning it to its holder on the wall. He turned around and saw Micheal.
"Hey, how's it going?" he asked.

Erick now stood in front of the asylum. It was always intimidating when he saw this place on the way home from work and today was definitely no exception. He heard his verizon chocolate ring and answered it. A voice on the other side asked, “Hey Erick. You at the asylum yet?”
It was Pete, Erick long time friend and the only person in the city who thought Erick wasn’t cursed as well as the reporter of necessary information for the police. Erick answered, “Hey Pete. I just reached the asylum.”
“Great. Well just to remind you, I sent my number to your instant dial memory. If you get anything important be sure to report it to me so I can get it to the police.”
“Will do Pete. I’ll keep you posted. See you soon.” He hung up and started walking into the asylum.

Also, he's wearing gymnastic shoes, hasn't shaved recently and doesn't carry a marriage ring. If he was an assassin sent to "take care" of me, he would have chosen a better disguise... he's probably just an ordinary guy..."

Behind him was a metal fence gaurding a collection of trees the city planted for scenery and in front of him was the building with just one door. The door made it a possibility that the teens went inside for some reason. He checked the doorknob, and what luck! There were finger prints on it, obviously from the grime on the fence when they climbed over them to get in. Though they were too worn out to identify now, he was pretty sure this was what happened to the teens. But how could a couple of teens get inside this building? Either this door wasn't a priority to the asylum, or they were lacking in secruity. He turned to the gaurd and asked, "Hey, does this door require any key?"

"As a matter of fact, it does." answered security-guard Steven Siegel. "I was told that it's an old deposit-room... only Archangel staff or employees have unlimited acces to the asylum..." he continued, while closely inspecting the prints. "But even if they found the door locked, I don't think that they would have given up that easily." he said, glancing upwards. And sure enough, there on the windowsill above, were three distinct smudges that matched the grime and fingerprints. What cought his attention, was the strange shape. Usually, long smudged finger-prints have a narrow tip and a wider one. The narrow one is were the finger first touched, and after that the finger print grows wider as the pressure of the finger increases, to where it stops. In this case, the narrow tip lay UNDER the wide one, as if it originated from someone standing at the window instead of someone trying to get a grasp from below. He didn't comment one this though, but asked the detective: "What do you think about those prints?"

"It's all quite weird anyway... the window belongs to a room were the cleaners keep their cleaning equipment, and it's usually closed, as are all other windows... maybe if we have a look at the room we might find something interesting..." The two men looked around the room uneasily.

Erick left the room and wrote everything that had happened so far. So far, according to the facts he compilied, the teens got into the building, got into the cleaners room, got out the window, and supposedly escaped into the storage room or some other place. But what was strange was just how these teens were able to get through the building so easily. Was security at Archangel Asylum really that lacking? Or was something else abroad? Either way he would have to find the teens and get them home safe as soon as possible. After a while of searching, both men found a doctor followed by a couple of gaurds and nurses. Erick got out his badge and asked the doctor, "Hello sir, NYPD private investigator. If you wouldn't mind, could we talk to some of the patients for a bit?"

His shaking had stopped now. His hysterical crying and screaming died away. Now he was happy. So happy. Everyone should have gotten drugs. Drugs what a fun word. Druuuugs, drgs, drrrrruggggs. He was playing with the word. He was calm and quiet. He enjoyed himself. The memories of what had happened that night had disappeared. Or he just didnt care anymore. His best friends murder. His Wife's tragic death was not important any more. He care more fore those yellow lights flying in front of his eyes. It looked like butterflies. Ne they were to small, he tried to take his had up to reach them. But he couldn't. Why couldn't he move his arm? A it didn't matter. He was happy. So happy. He felt so weary happy. He felt like a bird. No like a turtle. No like a bird. Anyway he was smiling. He was thinking of a song he remembered his mother had been singing when he was little. He tried to sing along, but he couldn't open his mouth. He tried to grasp for air, but he couldn't. He didn't care. He was suffocated. But it didn't matter he was so happy. Once again he tried to breath freely. But he couldn't. His lungs were not working. He tried again. No it didn't work. But it did not matter he was happy.

OCC: Jacob I think you may have given me to much medication. (Bad doctor ;))

No we're fine Jacob yelled back out the door. Looking back at the loling man, something seemed wrong. He looked at him closly, he didn't seem to be breathing.

He turned to the Nurse "How much did you give him?" he asked.
"Just,...um" she said looking at the label on the used syringe, "Oh my." she finished.

"Damit." Jacob cursed. The nurse handed him a manual respirator as the other ran to get a mechanical one. He put the mouthpice to the mans mouth and started pumping much needed air into his lungs.

"I'd like to see any patients who are in this corridor... Minus him though." Erick responded while gesturing to the man being treated in the room Jacob came out of. From what Erick could guess, it could be possible that the teens got into the building from the western side of the building if not through the front door. This corridor would likely be the one that they would have ran through, but for what purpose, it was undeterminable.

IC: Erick asked nearly everybody in the cells. So far, there was no sign of progress. Some patients had claimed that they saw people walking, but mistaked the doctors for the teens Erick was looking for. He did get to see some of his family though. His sister was asleep due to her advanced sleep phase syndrome and his father trying to eat his pillow thanks to his Pica (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pica_%28disorder%29). Finally, Erick came to one cell with a very pretty young girl. She didn't look too much younger than him, but he didn't let any rude thoughts enter his mind. He reminded himself that she was a patient. She was obviously here for an important reason and it would be in-humane to try making advances on her. He sat down in front of her and greeted, "Hello ma'm, I'm a private investigator from the NYPD. Would you mind me asking a few questions?".......

Erick noticed the scars on her wrists. It was undeniable that she was her for medical attention, and was probably here because of a very traumatic event. Erick knew that this was one subject he would have to avoid asking the girl for the sake of her well being. Erick tried asking, "I see. You wouldn't have by any chance heard any strange noises would you?"

She drained her coffee, put the cup back on the table and pulled her knees up to her chest.

Struggling? This seemed rather odd. Were the teens actually forced here? Who knew? This girl didn't seem to know much else about the teens and decided he would have to find the teens very soon. Otherwise, who knew what could happen to them? Erick reluctantly left saying, "Thank you for your cooperation ma'm. I'll be sure to use what information you were able to share... It seemed that everyone in the corridor had been asked the question of teens. Out of them all, Alice seemed to be the only who could give a real answer about the teens. Erick turned to the gaurd who followed him and said, "I think we've got the best we can out of everyone here. Maybe we should try checking out that storage room?"

He stepped into the room and didn't find much else other than two other pentagrams, one on the opposite wall and on the floor, except they were drawn in chalk rather than in blood. Erick looked around and saw another disturbing sight: A head on top of the wall with a hook through its brain. But upon further inspection, Erick noticed the head. He took out a picture (http://www.bordermail.com.au/news/image/360447.jpg) of one of the teens and recognized it was the same kid. Erick stood in awe and commented to himself, "Aw man... poor kid..." and took a picture of it on his Verizon Chocolate. Erick was about to leave until heard something that nearly soiled his pants.

The head yelled out, "And you best watch out Erick! Or you may soon face the same fate.... AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!" and flung itself in Erick's direciton.

"Holy !&@# !" Erick couldn't help but swear this time and rolled out of the way of the head. After a while, the head flung itself back in Erick's direction and was terrorizing Erick with each swing it gave. After a while though, the head latched itself onto Erick's face with its teeth. Erick struggled with all his might and kept the head from casuing any serious bleeding. Erick yanked the head off and kept himself on the ground. Erick got out his gun and blew a hole through the head. The head stopped swinging around and hung in its place lifeless.

Erick would have liked to stay and figure out what happened, but no normal man could see such a sight and stay in one place. Erick ran out of the room and up the stairs faster than a jack-rabbit. Erick grabbed the door handle and attempted to get out of the basement. He couldn't do it though, because the door was locked. "Oh...... Crap!" Was all Erick would let himself say. Erick started banging on the door hoping someone would hear him. He started yelling, "HEEEEELLP!!! HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLP!!! Anybody out there? Doc? Steve? Anybody? HELLOOOOOOOO!!!"....

IC: It was midnight. The police and coroner had been there during the day, and taken care of the "head". The room was now cordoned off, forensic detectives had gone through the place looking for clews (and the body to which the head belonged)...
So far, no body had been found.
Steve woke up. He looked at his alarm-clock... it showed midnight. He was one of the few "back-up" officers that were living on the Asylum premises. Steven felt thirsty and went to get a bottle. He found one in the dark of the kitchen, but then he realized how stupid it was to drink from an unknown bottle in the dark, so he turned the light switch. It didn't work. He looked out the window at the Asylum. Not even one light was on, it was completely dark. This just didn't seem right. "A fuse must have gone..." he thought sleepily. After having identified the bottle in the moonlight and having stilled his thirst, he quickly dressed into his usual workclothes and went out of the small personel building, towards the Asylum. Not being familiar with the premises, he didn't know where he could find the fuse, if that was the problem. "I'll just go into the main building and locate the other two guards on duty... they should know what's going on." he thought.

Late that night...

Erick and Pete were investigating the head that Erick had found that day. Erick asked Pete, "Do you got any idea what happened in there Pete?"
Pete answered, "If I knew, I would have said something to the Commisioner first. But I just can't tell you what is wrong with this head."
Erick further inquired, "Did you manage to find out what happened to it?"
Pete explained, "From what I could tell, the blood was drained from the head a good while before you shot it. There should have been no possible way for it to come alive like you said it did, and what's stranger is that this head shows practically no sign of what caused the decapitation."
Erick commented, "Well, we don't know what caused this thing to come alive, but I guess its obvious what we're dealing with."
Pete furtherly said, "If you didn't know by now, you don't deserve your job. It's pretty obvious with the heads, the blood, the pentagrams on walls..."
Erick concluded, "Yeah, we're probably dealing with some psycho who thinks they can use weird rituals to gain their own ends. Those kids are still in that Asylum or somewhere near, and they'll likely get the same treatment if we don't stop it soon..."
Pete praised, "Good thinking Erick. If anything, you might as well search the Asylum for any patients with weird religious beliefs."
Erick assured, "I'll be sure to do that tommorow. I sure hope I can save those kids before they all die."
Pete told him, "Yeah, good louck on it Erick. If anyone can solve this kind of case, it's gotta be you."
Erick left saying, "I will. Goodnight Pete."
Pete responded, "Goodnight Erick."
Erick went home to his apartment that night and got ready for bed like he usually did. He took his shower, got dressed in his PJ's and went to his bed and played Legend of Heroes 2 for a bit on his PSP before finally turning in for the night. Before he went to sleep, he decided he would write a reminder on his nightstand.

Reminder:
Find a gift for Alice.

He did this because he was developing a crush on her, though he didn't want to hint anyone or admit it himself. He kept telling himself it was based on hope to gain friendship with her since Pete and possibly Steve were the only people he considered to be friends. Either way, he would be ready to do a lot of questioning tommorow....

OOC: Asfaltum, I think this thread has died. Although if the plan is to rp with me, you, and Hok-Tu, then I guess we could do so.

OOC: Yeah, this thread is quite dead... but I was thinking of just the three of us RPing everybody else... I usually say that a thread is dead when there are less than three players... I'll post something later on...:)

OOC: I see... Yeah, I guess you're right about the amount of players. Just a question though, are we all going to rp as the characters we created and also the previous ones that others made?

OOC: Yeah... and any other character you can think of... you can rp the cleaning-maid if you feel for it... :)

Y'e know what? I think this thread is dead. Not really dead, there are still three participants, but I mean... what the heck are we going to do anyway? Be chased around an asylum by some nut guy? Get killed? Shoot the maniac? Blow up the Asylum with C4? (That'd be fun...) Apart from you getting a crush on Hok-Tu, there isn't anything really going on here... So how about we just dump it?
