Calad was awash with good news. We have thanked our brothers from the North greatly for this assistance in our time of need. As fellow Norsemen, and partners in this grand coalition, it was the belief of the Imperial Senate that an alliance between Kalmaar and Caladonn would be quite suitable. What are your thoughts?

Thirfir Elrad arrived in Daaskim and was escorted by two Housecarls to the Royal Hall. After proceeding through the entrence hall he entered a large room with a long table and an ornately gilded wooden chair at the head. several dozens of rather large men were sitting at the table and eating ravenously. When Erik noticed the diplomat he ushered him towards the head and had him sit in a chair to his right. He proceeded to bang his goblet upon the table twice, spilling much ale, and achieved the attention of those within the room. He then spoke, "Men, our brothers across the sea have sent a man with the authority to approve treaties and make agreements. He comes with an offer of alliance from the great Caladonnian peoples. What say ye on this?" The response was loud and racous with various hoots of approvl and one or two of disapproval. With the consensus being that the offer should be accepted, Erik said "Well freind, give us the details."

The Praetor came into the Hall, and sat down next to Erik. When the approval was noted, he responded, "Greetings, brothers. In short, you all know that our people were originally from your lands, and prize our Norse heritage highly. We know that you are also fighting the vile Alshorians, and so in light of these two considerations, as well as better trading opportunities, I would be honored if your nation would agree to an alliance with the Imperial Republic."

"Well men?" bellowed Erik, beckoning an answer. The hall echoed with approval before the majority of the men began digging voraciosuly into their food once more. Erik then leaned over to the Praetor and said "It is done freind. You can trust the Kalmaarans to be Caladonnian allies in any event. Now, join the feast!"

"Many thanks," the Praetor replied before eating his meal.

After spending many days enjoying the hospitality and learning the customs of the people of Kalmaar, he and his men returned to Caladonn to bring the joyous news.
