Hamilton, Bermuda...

There was talk in the town of the advancing Confederate battlegroup. Rumours were spreading of submarine and reconnaisance aircraft sightings. Most of the civilian population was against the idea of joining the Confederacy, some were even taking to the streets in protest.

Inside the government building, fears were confirmed when Ambassador Wycliffe delivered the letter to the President of Bermuda...

Dear President Johnson,

It is our request that you relinquish control of this island to the Confederate military immediately. If you comply with our request, it will be our pleasure to ensure that no violence is used in the takeover of this island. Failure, however to comply will lead us to seek out more direct routes to power over the island. Armed forces are en-route to the island, so that you may hand over power to them.

President Sickles, The Confederate States of America.

"It doesn't look like we have much choice in the matter..." Johnson spoke to an aide.

"We cannot simply hand over the island because they asked nicely, we must be shown to have some sort of backbone. What will the confederates do? Assault a defenseless island".

10 or so minutes later, a contact was sent telling Sickles where to shove it, sealing the fate of the island.

Forces En-Route to Bermuda

The Confederate 1st Atlantic Battlegroup:
1 Georgia Class Helicopter Cruiser (CNS Atlanta)
2 Spruance Class Destroyers (CNS Mississippi, CNS Housatonic)
1 Sickles (San Diego) Class LPD (CNS Tampa)

400 Marines
20 LAV-25 (To be airlifted from the mainland CSA)
5 Bell UH-1Y
4 Bell SH-1L
2 Bell AH-1W

Bermuda...

CNS Housatonic was the first on the scene. Flying the confederate jack, and the state flag of Virginia, the destroyer sailed into the harbour. Captain Beaufort could see for himself that the people of the island were against his presence. He grinned if this is what happens when 1 destroyer turns up ... just wait till the big ships get here.

The ship's two SH-1L helicopters were airborne, each carrying 6 marines to the island. That unlucky patrol would probably bear the brunt of whatever it was the disgruntled islanders had to offer.

The two helicopters bumped down, and the marines disembarked. Someone would have seen the helicopters drop off the troops on the small island, so the patrol headed straight for cover. More troops were inbound from Mississippi and Atlanta, so they would not be alone for much longer.

The objective was the airport. As soon as it was secure, the Army air wing could begin to fly in the LAVs - sealing the fate of an island that had nothing on it to deal with armoured vehicles...

Bermuda...

Bermuda International airport was firmly under the grip of the Confederate military. The first of four C-17A cargo aircraft of the Virginia Army Air Wing bumped down, carrying four M1126 APCs and their crews. The vehicles waited, as behind in the next aircraft came the final nail in the coffin of Bermuda - a C-17A carrying 120 troops of the 1st Army of Virginia.

Almost 500 troops and marines were all over the island. After one hour, the president was forced to sign over control of the island to the Confederacy.

In Houston, the details were laid down for the forces to be deployed to Bermuda:
