Population: 30,940,000

History:

The land of Deatharon was at one time a fledging city state that had been built by a mighty human warlord named Akarth Von Antheron I. The man had been a great warrior that had unified the local area and had created and conquerored a number of subject realms. The realms were renamed into Baronies to be given to the greatest warriors and wizards within Akarth's mighty war host.

This era had been bloody but innocent in comparison to what was to come. The Deatharonian armies continued to conqueror all in their path. This never-ending time of conquest would end quickly in a sea of death. The Dark Goddess Minax the Goddess of Death, Destruction and Dark Magic looked upon the Deatharonian barbarians and had a plan for these simpering fools. They would become her chosen people on this world and turn the world into a land of corpses and death.

She caused several plagues to befall the Deatharonian people and their slaves. She raised the dead and let them walk the earth. She blackened the sky and made the sun an almost unseen occurrence. She cursed the earth and made the land seem bleak, desolate, and dark. She created the first vampires that hunted the living for their blood and gave dark and terrible secrets to the wizards of the Deatharonians turning them into Undead Liches.

Her most terrible curse was to turn the son of Warlord Akarth against his father. The young boy at the age of ten slaughtered his father in his sleep. The boy had been training to be a mage and it was no secret the expression of pain on his face was from a torture spell used in some of the darkest necromancy. The boy whom was named Alakor Von Antheron became a fearsome Necromancer. He raised massive armies of undead warriors and turned his vassals into Vampires. He became the first and only Lich Emperor after a successful blow to kill him was made by an assassin from a rival Kingdom.

The Humans of the Imperium were seeing their leaders become undead and they tried to rally against the change. The formed a massive rebellion and tried to usurp the Lich Emperor from his throne. They fought with swords, axes, maces, spears, and bows against the Legions of undead. It was a massacre for the human side. The Necromancers used their powers to raise fallen human troops against their comrades. This forced the humans to fall back and they were eventually defeated as they were run down by hundreds of zombies and skeletons.

The undead now firmly in power started to raise temples dedicated to Minax and the other dark gods of the Deatharonian Pantheon. This led to the casting down of the gods and goddesses of good, light and Creation. The effect has been lasting in the Imperium. It is a land permanently stuck into the dark ages using archaic weapons in this modern time. They make up for this with tenacity and the fact death can not defeat them…

The Black Dragon Flights the control the Forests after seeing the rise of the undead horde now serve them. This service was made by the power of Minax who used her powers to keep their Queen Rathorgrizoria under the control of the Lich Emperor. This arrangement had made them an even more dangerous threat with their ability to command the sky. The Deatharonians quickly expanded to take the river from the pathetic human tribes that roamed there since time in memorial.

I have a question. What's the difference between mortal years and normal years?

Humans use mortal years for one year. The Undead would use a different system of time measurement A year for them would be a century.

Any particular reason why?

Well, When you can live for centuries, It helps to relate time in your own way. I mean if takes millennia or a century to make your plans come into fruition. It would really mess with your sense of timing especially if you do not need to sleep like a Lich...

Ah. So it's arbitrary, just to make these long plots easier to carry out. I though it might have something to do with an event, or, every 'year' the necromancers must renew their powers, or something else big to make it markable. Wondering, s'all.
