"Hello citizens of the world, the conflict in Hanover had grinded to a close. Kanami and our allies are now fully withdrawn from the Hanover islands, and a solid treaty is in place. Stevid is now free do what it pleases with the islands, and I feel one of our basic missions was acomplished. While Hanover wasn't a complete victory, it still has allowed us to agressivley persue our foreing policey in the region. The south quarter of islands, including Animalpolis, and Mizth-Sonika. Long before the start Kanami swore it would protect these small colonies from further harm of too much outside influnce. Allow the people to build a free and just society on their own with out interferance or the fears of relapses of more and more killings. We proved that a coalition of freinds and allies, can stand united for a common purpose and get the job done.
However what we failed in Hanover was to show the world, soverignty can't protect everything you do and there are limits. Soverignty is a glorious thing, it protects a free nation, but when you abuse such a sacared privlage for your own selfish purposes, it loses its meaning. Everyone throws it around like a beach ball, and Stevid, GDI, and IndependentHitmen have proved that unless you are actually comitting the most hanious crimes, nothing can stop you. It's only a matter of time before even Genocide can't be stopped in the name of soveringnty. Another thing they proved is one, it's important to know who your freinds are. Aqua Anu stood by us every second. Their fine Ruler was willing to take it as it is. Kanami wasn't going to stand by idolly and watch them be punished for our own purposes. Two, they proved they find coalitions out side of their organization illegal. These people would have called the Allies of WWII illegal as well. They proved that the testimonies of a thousand natives is insiginficant to them.
There are many on the opposing side who said this was about Stevid's internal policey. The fact is, this has hardly anything to do with Stevid's internal policies. This was about protecting thousands upon thousands of lives, many of them women and children. Its something Kanami has always vowed it would do, since our inception in 1806 to the present day. Upon our entrance to Hanover we released over 1500 prisoners who had absolutley no real violent history. Many of them were defending their famlies when the SWAT teams came. Many were poor civilians who couldn't go and didn't want to change their religion because they are not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ. 500Muslims, 100 Mormons, Episcipals, New Age Thinkers, every religion that wasn't Catholic was found on that island. An out post of Human Rights Violations going unchecked in this region was simply unacceptable. Stevid could have treaded into very dangerous waters. Their ships could have been shot at, and they would have shot back, not just once, but many times. Leveling every tiny island out of pure revenge, killing thousands.
The Global Defense Inititave proved to be a fellow comrade, but the treaty they wrote was slanted. They sought to punish not to stop. They attempted to severly punish our allies and us. We had to talk them down and we did. But the treaty still reads slanted, and the punishment stands. With our withdrawl we managed to dodge one bullet, but theres still many to come.
While the Hanover may affect how we wage our policey it won't change it. We know we can't win them all, but we'll always try. We'll never be afraid to do what is right in the world, and to stand up the bullies of the world. Thank you, and good night.
