A New Land Ready to Be Craved Up (Open, MT)

The Scandinvans

The Scandinvan Empire within the past twenty five years has begun the colonization of a land which until Imperial colonization has begun was full of uncivilized barbarian tribes. Now though the colonization of the land has been going fairly well the Empire has not been able to make the progress they have wanted due to the fact of their being two few colonists willing to come to this untamed land. So far the only ones who have come are middle class peoples who have become owners of vast estates, plantations, and mines that are manned by untold numbers of natives who have been forced to work for them/ Yet, despite this great new wealth the land is still not appealing enough to the nobles of the Empire to desire to migrate to the new colony due to the fact the climate is to humid and hot to make it worth it to them.

Thus, the Empire has decided to allow other nations and groups to openly claim land in the colonial area under new rules except that they prevent the barbarians from attacking other nations and if they do seek retribution on the natives if there are still barbarians alive linked to the hostile groups. Yet, the Empire does not really care as for the nature of the colony and will not do anything in response to how you treat the natives and will not really care. Have fun.

OOC: Sorry, for the crappy post, but I am little anxious due to the amount of work I have been doing lately. As for the rules of this thread there are none really except no nuclear or chemical warfare and as for the colonies feel free to do what you want to them and even use the natives are test subjects or slaves.

The Clandonian Military survey group touched down in their C-130K the suprised locals came out and stared at the newcomers. The commanding officer got scared pulled his glock out and put a round into the air the locals ran off and came back in force.....

Two hours later thanks to shear Clandonian firepower the people were dead, the new Chainsaw tri-barrel miniguns had done their job the soldiers just walked through the dismembered bodies and raised the Clandonian blue stars on the flag pole. All surviving civilians were told to report for processing and reacusition of their assets. Private industry from Clandonia Incorporated Mining Plc. arrived with their PMC's in digital BDU's they met with military allies and they came to the agreement the new colony of Noavan Erlan was established and the drilling began under the careful firepower of the 2nd Combat Enginers Armoured Corp.

The Republic of Estovakia would like to know if you would like us to send people over for you to create a colony. Estovakia to be honest, is a rather autocratic state, meaning that the country does not bode well for democratically-prone minds. Thus we have a rather large group of political prisoners that currently reside in a penal colony within one of our states.

We'd like to get rid of the political prisoners (preferably without killing them all) and we could think of no better way then to give them to you to help you settle the land for you as we hope to smooth relations between us and your nation and thus help us "kill two birds with one stone". They are adapted to hot climates (as their penal colony resides in tropical climates) and many have had experiences in mines before.

If you would like, we would be willing to send 50,000 settlers cost-free to the new land.

Sincerely,

Generalissimo Max

OOC: The land itself is inhabited mostly by uncivilized tribes who are extremely xenophobic who will attack any person who is not of their own tribe if they see them in their lands. Yet, they are not advanced enough to take on any full blown invasion force from a modern nation. As well, the land itself has mild winters and pretty hot summers and is overall very fertile farmland on the plains and especially near the rivers. Also, if you check the resource map you can tell that the land itself is very resource rich. As for your claim high light if you and if you cannot I will do it for you.

For that many thousands of their warriors prepared for war against the new invader who had so quickly and destructively murdered their tribe.

Yet, the Empire pleased with this new people sent them this message,” Welcome to these lands and we hope that your colony will become a profitable asset to you.”

OOC: Please, define your claims on the map.

A tribal council was called of all those who were on the island with them being divided into three major groups of those who did not want to fall yet were not willing to fight, those who feared the invader and were willing to submit to their more advanced foe, and those who were willing to fight to the last for their freedom.

The latter group was the one who had so far supplied all the warriors fighting the invasion of their home lands and had sent forth two thirds of their warriors numbering at about 24,000 warriors to fight against the invasion.

Yet, the bombardment had destroyed many of the native settlements resulting of those being affected by the attacks which had forced them to submit to the invaders. As well, they now out of fear began to betray their native brothers to the invader by telling their new masters of their movements and of their numbers/

As for the natives in the northwest corner they like more like Sicilian persons in skin color, but they are renowned for their grass green eyes and ash hair. As well, they number around 2.5 million in the plain and forest areas who consist of a mostly agrarian culture who are armed with low tech light single fire rifles, due to their with my colony. and swords mostly and live in small towns with no real cities. Yet, their mountain tribe kin consist of a more conservative hardy group of people how number around 815,000 persons total and are stronger then their low land cousins and also still only use bronze spears and bows.

At dawn, a small landing party of 348 soldiers, 3 anthropolgists, and 1 medical physician carefully landed at an ideal landing spot close to a small village. They approached the small coastal village and shot anyone that was hostile. When the village was pacified, 174 additional soldiers landed with 60 engineers. Working around the clock in shifts, rotating groups of 60 engineers and volunteers worked constantly for a day until a rough landstrip was developed, a small dock for motar boats only, and a crude defense paremeter of barbed wire machine guns, bright lights, and fence was put up. At night, 153 soldiers and other personnel minus the 60 engineers needed went back to the ship while the remaining soldiers and engineers worked on projects.

Tactical Solutions beat the Siapian Navy by a week to the plot of land they had on permanent lease from the Siapian Government in the newly claimed colonies. The scout teams had arrived to their leased portion of the island. The 10,000 mercenaries were the first off the ship, scouting for any hostile presence, while engineers and laborers cleared the forest. Barracks and other living structures were the first to be built, followed shortly thereafter by small nests of barbed wire, concrete and .50 caliber machine guns on the edge of the claimed land. By the time Siapian Navy had arrived with their teams, the mercenary base was already partially operational, with their first resupply convoy already there. The second ship had medical supplies and doctors, should any unkown disease beset the camp. It was also carrying machinery and asphalt, so that a runway for an airfield could be completed soon.

What the Siapian Navy lacked in timeliness, they compensated for in manpower. 200,000 regulars had been assigned to secure the new colony, while 500,000 convicts and debtors had been brought to help construct the new cities. A Tactical Solutions urban planner met with the Siapian governer-general, who would govern the local territory until the colonists arrived.

In the Siapian mainland, more convicts and debtors were being prepared for the voyage to the new lands. Both new that their debts (to society or otherwise) would be reduced in half the time if they worked in the new lands.

The crowded streets of Esmund were a testament to how overcrowded Siap had become. Unable to spread out (farmland had to be distinctly set aside-the land that was there was poor and yielded depresingly little food, despite all sorts of agricultural advances), it grew higher. Cars in the city were rare, but every single bus and every single subway car, every single car on the light rail, every single passageway connecting the skyscrapers was packed, like sardines in a can. Naturally, people were enthralled by the opportunity to move to a new land where they would be able to escape and have some living space...
The Scandinvans

As the colony expanded small groups of Scandinvan merchants began to visit the colony selling their farm products raised in the fertile northern river valley and also brought the great catches of fish caught in the northern river and in the bay of the northern river. As well, they began to bring stories of how in the northern Scandinvan lands the natives had been reduced to serfs working the farmlands and mines.

Yet, the news just came through merchants and could not verified due to the fact the Imperial military prevented non-residents from going past the provincial capital due to the fact of danger from danger and the fact that in the past native sympathizers who smuggled weapons to the natives and resulted in a rebellion eight years.

But, back in the Siap province the natives for the most part had died out on the island five decades ago due to a long civil war on the island and then the extermination of save less then a dozen tribes that lived in the high mountain areas and still did and those tribes numbered at about 56,000 in total. Yet, on the mainland there were still many hundreds of tribes that lived in the delta and lower river fishing and farming as a living. The environment prevented them from waging to much was thus making them into a proud people who would not kindly being commanded by a foreign government.

The small village for the most part had been killed after a number of the town’s men had been killed resisting the foreigners coming within the village limits. As well, the few who stayed were traders and offered the group food in return for either silver, copper, guns, or gold.

Siapians are known for many things. They are known for their calm, levelheaded approach to most situations. They are known as stubbornly and fiercely independant (as a result of this, Siapian drill instructors are known as the most brutal of human beings, from years of dealing with stubborn conscripts), but Siapians are not known as conquerers. True, the nation of Siap was partially formed by conquest. True, Siap had conquered several nations and it was true that serfs were legal. But Siap had no tradition of conquering and humiliating their enemy. Siapian military victories followed a formula: they came, destroyed what they viewed as threatening, demanded war reparations, and made the defeated an economic subject state. But, Siapian troops rarely remained in the nations they conquered. After at most a decade, all troops would have returned home, to their own business.

Ironically, Siapians are also known for their tendency to react violently to what they saw as any encroachment into their freedom, their rights or their property. Especially after the anarchism (A period of Siapian history where the government ceased, but the nation didn't), Siapians became more conscious of their freedoms. And the hostile of climate of Siap has made Siapians famous for wasting nothing. Siapian industries are based on managing other nation's waste and collecting scrap materials and synthesizing petrochemicals from organic waste.

This last fact led the governer general to a decision. The Siapian soldiers would be at their guard. Rumors of previous uprisings did not warrant a preemptive assault. Conversely, peace now did not warrant the assumption that bllod would not be shed in the future. For now, they would watch. That was something Siapians were good at as well. They would watch the enemy, wait for the enemy to act. Army scouts extended their patrols to encompass the river basin, observing from afar the activities of the natives.

(OOC: Assuming the natives do not know much about soil depletion)

Meanwhile, the first immigrants, the Siapian farmers began in the standard, humble Siapian manner. They began the encroachment in the standard, humble, Siapian manner. Rather than seize the fertile lands that the natives worked, they simply took the land where the soil was drained. For even this soil was richer than the acidic soils of Sunshile Valley and certainly they would rear crops better than the Great Salt Desert. Combined with Siapian agricultural technology, all the land that surrounding the river delta considered infertile, too arid or just downright impossible to use would soon be flourishing. And Heaven help the souls of the natives if they thought about taking what the Siapians built.
The Scandinvans
16-09-2006, 06:36
As the Siapians began to be noticed in the tribal lands one of the greater tribes along the coast began a massive genocide in the delta so as to create land to sell to the colonists. As well, due to the fact that they had been armed with more modern rifles and weapons from the Scandinvan traders they had far superior weapons over their agrarian neighbors and also due to their superior training the few warriors the other tribes had were quickly destroyed. These attacks had already cleared out a great a majority out a majority of the northern delta within a couple of weeks using very destructive attacks. As well, many dozens of tribes began to flee into the plains and upriver in fear of the destructive measures the northern tribe was using to clear out the delta.

Yet, with the tribes clearing out much fertile farmland was seized by the barbaric tribe of the north. As well, they enslaved the survivors of the attacks or any natives that they found in their territory not of their tribe. Further, they had doubled the seize of their estates where many tens of thousands now worked as slaves for the great lords.

With that stories began to be told by the fleeing natives of the terror of the genocide and of how the remnants of their people had for the most part enslaved by their new masters.

OOC: The natives now about soil depletion, but once they field is no longer usable the put their waste over in order to try to make the field fertile again.

The village upon seeing unknown ships approach sent out a runner before the group had landed on the shore and within a couple of hours had reached a nearby tribal town capital where they sent out runners to muster their tribe’s warriors for war and they also sent out runners to other tribes to warn them of a new invader.

The small village for the most part had been killed after a number of the town’s men had been killed resisting the foreigners coming within the village limits. As well, the few who stayed were traders and offered the group food in return for either silver, copper, guns, or gold.

The Estovakians resumed their normal mission, unaware of the mustering of tribal soldiers. Anthropologists began to track the habits of the natives and their language and also give little trickets and silver Estovakian currency pieces. Virologists and physicians began studying the immunity systems and health of the remaining natives of the village, while also studying the native diseases and illnesses for vaccines or storing them away for further study. Oceanographers aboard the two research vessels began mapping the ocean floor while marine biologists studied the exotic fish and edible fish of the area. The topographers took to the skies in helicopters and began mapping the areas and comparing satellite maps and GPS coordinates to visual landmarks and features. The engineers built a basic water treatment facility and improved on base defense while soldiers began setting up large tents and pre-fabricated buildings capable of supporting a more permanent population. Finally botanists began studying fruits and vegetables for taste and edibility and wrote reports on the soil conditions.

On the finished airfield, a cargo plane landed and dropped off radar equipment and small diesel generators while another plane that arrived later dropped off CS canisters, water cannons, rubber bullets, and crowd control equipment for fending off hostile natives. A dozen or so electrical and equipment engineers also arrived to help set up the radar equipment. By nightfall, four out of five companies were stationed on land, making the total of troops on land to 675 soldiers. The anthropologists, botanists, and physcians (except for one) also settled down in the base leaving the total number of Estovakian scientists on land to be 16, engineers to be 60, and the total number of Estovakian civilans to thus be 76.

We advise against controlling the locals as they are vicious and uncivillised beings who should be either culled or put to work.

To: Whom it may concern
From: Temporary Estovakian Territorial Council

We thank you for your advice. However, utilizing the knowledge gained in the past by imperialist nations such as Great Britain, Spain, and the United States, we have adopted a philosophy that we see as most beneficial to the situation at hand.

Like the British with African tribes, Cortes with the Aztecs, and the Americans with Native Americans, we have found that the most beneificial way of defeating natives is to gain the support of other native tribes. The British utilized indiginous forces to fight battles for them or supplant their military and thus were able to maintain a colonial empire with a relatively small army. Cortes took over a whole empire utilizing an army made up primarily of indiginous forces while Americans utilized divisions and animosity between North American tribes to track and defeat other native groups.

We will not compromise with the lowlands natives with which we will take their land but hope to make contact with mountainous tribes in hopes of gaining their support and utilizing them to do most of the fighting for us, in exchange for slaves and garenteed protection of their throne. Thus we hope to accomplish two things at once by expelling the nuisances and gaining good relations with unimportant tribes to prevent unnecessary future attacks. We see use in natives and their traditions as an advantage to ourselves because then we can use their hatreds and problems to our advantage.

We do not rule by force and fear but by deception and exploitation. By gaining the support of some natives, we can use their knowledge and power against other natives and thus instead of wasting our resources we use theirs.

On a separate note, we do not feel that accepting a mutual protection pact would be wise at the moment because we feel it would be disadvantageous for you. Since we cannot offer anything of value, or spare any troops, we wouldn't be helpful. However, should you need to dock at our temporary dock, use our airfield, or borrow our scientists don't hesitate to ask. As a friendly gesture, we wish to give you our oceanographic charts of the coastal areas we have explored so far so as to benefit your merchant traffic and naval forces. After all, there is nothing more annoying to a captain than running aground on some hidden sand bar.

On the island, the first mining towns were already constructed, the new residents happilly worked at their new jobs in a land where they could have an actual lawn. Some of them even had several acres of land behind their houses, growing fresh vegetables and fruits for the first time in their lives. The first shipments of copper and silver ore nearly paid for the cost of establishing the colony, and now a ship with its hull filled with gold ore was embarking across the ocean back to Esmund. The governor-general knew that these shipments would have to be managed carefully so the Siapian economy could absorb the metals without being crushed by inflation.

The mainland, however, had been a source of troubles. The Siapian farmers initially found themselves completely excluded from the arable land, but then had to quickly retreat altogether as the tribes obliterated eachother. Now, violent barbarian tribes occupied the delta, while a small but steady stream of wounded natives told tales of their horrible oppression.

The Governor-General received these natives, and imported linguists from Esmund University to study their language and try to help the Siapians communicate with the natives.

That evening, the Governor-General, a red-haired broad shouldered giant of a man named Shea Miller. He sat at the table in the officers quarters' with his liason to Siap, Corporal Steele, a thin man with a thin face, clutching files close to his chest. His captain of local intelligence, another red-haired man named Sean Donovan, accompanied by some of his lieutenants, also with dossiers in front of them.

Miller sat with his hands on the table. He looked as though he would rip the table in half if he was agitated enough. "Gentlemen, we have a unique opportunity to take the river delta. Captain Donovan has the details."

"The natives that have previously occupied the river delta have since turned their weapons upon eachother. We do not know why, but one of the tribes began a wholesale slaughter of the others. This internal division gave the barbarians from the north the opportunity to invade, and they have since taken the lands. There is a small population of survivors who are coming over to our camp. Those who have not come to us are being enslaved or killed. If we could arm and train the surviving population to fight, we could gain valuable allies who know the lay of the land and there would be plenty of land for our farmers to cultivate."

Miller spoke again, "Our linguists are making progress with their language. The Community has approved an additional 200,000 regulars to be added to our contingent in light of recent events. They should be arriving over the course of the next two weeks. Steele, I want you to call Esmund, and see if you can't get us a special forces division to help train the natives. Donovan, have the linguists secure the natives support for this plan. This can't go ahead without them."

Esmund, several days later

The beads of the rosary slowly slipped through the fingers of the man kneeling before the statue of St. Michael in the small chapel beneath the Basilica of St. Michael. He had received his orders. He would be placed in command of the Operations Division Epsilon, the most repected division in all of Siap's special forces. Specialist Paul Kesson was one of the most capable men in the Siapian Intelligence Network. He would proceed to the new colonies with his unit and train the natives to repel their oppressors. As he left the cathedral, his mind was clear and he was ready to face this challenge. In six hours he would be on a plane to the colonies.

"General Miller, we have received a transmission from a Clandonian force operating in the area. It seems they have established a colony in the region. It would seem that the natives in their region are massing a large army."

Miller looked at the corporal, thinking deeply. "Corporal, send this message to the Clandonians..."

At the same time on the opposite end of the island, Victor Reidt, president of Tactical Solutions Inc. was inspecting the newly constructed mercenary base for his corporation. While he was inspecting the perimeter with Marshall Brose, the commander of the mercenary company residing in that base, a corporal approached them. "Sir, we've intercepted a radio transmission made by Clandonian colonists. Apparently they've bit off more they can chew. Apparently the natices are massing a large army and the Clandonians are outnumbered."

Reidt turned to the Marshall. "This could be an opportunity for us to make a profit on this new investment, and demonstrate our battle-readiness. Corporal, I want you to offer our services to these unfortunate colonists."

But their reliance on messengers means that they might not have other modern war technologies. The other powers to our norht are gearing for an open war, but they have also enslaved the natives. We have done nothing like that..."

"Are you proposing appeasement?"

"Pretty close, but not quite."

"Wha...?"

"I understand Skyetech Industries still makes a model of the AR-15 rifle for open market?"

"What are you proposing?"

"Let's just say I have a plan. For the time being, inform the messenger that we will meet his tribes' demands. Offer an additional 10,000 rifles and some other crap as a gesture of our goodwill. I will call Skyetech Industries and bill this to my operating account."

After the two weeks had passed, a large cargo ship approached the area controlled by the natives. A second, smaller ship followed behind it, with a large crane on board its main deck. Slowly, the two ships began unloading the giant crates. The first crates were the iron, followed by the copper, then the silver and then the gold. The last crates to be unloaded were the rifles. Each AR-15 was freshly assembled and polished, still in the Skyetech Industries cases, and each rifle came with a scope and three clips.

While this was occuring, the first group of Siapians entered the delta. Construction of farms and a seaport on the delta were almost immediately underway.

The Asgarnian Territorial Army contingient touched down on 10 CH-46As Helicopters. They were backed up by a massive force of aircraft and land vehicles. AH-66, AH-64, F-35, HMMWV, M2, and others were right behind the force. They readied their AR-44A1's. As they marched toward the Colonization Point, they were met by around 1,250 natives. They took their hands off of their weapons and raised them, in a gesture of peace. The natives rejected it. Spears tipped with heavy stone heads flew toward the men, and 10 were immediately down. The force opened fire on the natives, decimating them with their 6.8mm Remington Magnum HydraShok rounds and their 12 Gauge Barbed Flechette rounds. As the natives fell, clean-up crews arrived up the river. The natives would be hauled on a massive barge and dumped in the ocean. Soon, a large city would be springing up. Bulldozers and Graters began clearing paths for roads. Within 5 months, the beginnings of a massive metropolis would be laid down.

Also, they began to establish more estates on their land.

Paul Kesson stood in the briefing room with General Shea Miller. Before him sat one hundred of the Epsilon Group soldiers. They sat in two teams on either side of the room. "...and we have traced this group of natives from the mountains. Their sophitication suggests that they are unified under a very charismatic leader or very strong government. This is suggested by their subjugation of the region before we aquired the delta. Team one is to enter the mountains, and approach the tribe. You will infiltrate via paradrop, and scope out the tribal encampments from afar. Remember your mountain training. And, most importantly, I do not want them to know we are watching. I do not want them to even think that they're being watched. Team two will proceed north to study the massing army. You will need to determine if these are the same as those who had previously occupied the river delta. Team two will approach via unmarked helicopter until you are 30 km north, and you will approach by foot from there. Again, you will not be seen. Prepare your equipment, you leave at nightfall."

After all of the men had left the room, Miller turned to Kesson. "You've given them guns, and now you propose we gear up to fight them?"

Kesson turned to the general, unflinching. "I do not intend to fight them. I just want to see the bigger picture. And about those guns, well, I have friends at Skyetech Industries. And they also make other equipment that I use." He brushed past the commander, and turned on his laptop. Within a matter of minutes, a map of the region came up, and several bright dots appeared in a cluster on the map. "Those are the rifles. Wherever the rifles go, we shall be sure to know." He watched as the bundle of dots slowly moved along the river.

After the sun had set, several paratroops touched down in the mountains, and moved towards the known encampments of the natives.

Several helicopters touched down north of the massing army, and the soldiers quickly disembarked from them. As quickly as they came, the helicopters departed and the soldiers moved quickly and quietly towards the massing force.

Through the use of his superior intellect and battle skills he gained control of the costal areas along the southern bay and the lands of the costal northern delta.

The massing army itself was meeting at a great stone castle with walls sixty feet high and twenty feet thick built by a mix of slave labor and the skill of the ruler of the northern tribe.

I need you to move in closer to the compound. Find someone close to the ruler, a general, a lieutenant, secretary, someone close. And I am going to need you to pinch him. First, find flat ground to use as an LZ, secure the area, and give us a call. CSAR-1 will go airborne, and then you will have to work. They'll wait for half an hour. Otherwise, your on your own."

The guards around the settlement were dressed in silver plate mail and patrolled in great number along the walls and the area just below them. Yet, they did not patrol the forests that much as they did not have much reason to and the fact there was a presence of large numbers of bugs which would often prevent them from moving due to them being so thick in the more open areas which were required for them to safely move through in their heavy armor.

OOC: The settlement and fortress are both stone enclosed area of about 125 acres with a population of 5000 with a small palace for the ruler and a number of small ye luxurious manners for the nobles and the generals for their domain. Thirty Epsilons fanned out around the segment of wall, while a team of six moved to the opposite edge of the city. The remainders took to positions around the city, in trees, hills or whatever else they could use to grant themselves a better view of the city. The men donned their balaclavas and the snipers, using using Siapian Type IV 12.7mm anti-armor rifles concentrating on soldiers around the wall guard commander's quarters and the area in the opposite corner. In the opposite corner, the men assembled a mound of about 5 kg of C4, which they left just beyond the treeline. The wall guard commander was seen entering his quarters. The team commander whispered into his radio. "We are standing by to commence operation, and we have cleared an LZ three klicks south of our position."

"Roger. CSAR-1 is en route. ETA thirty minutes."

The commander then whispered into his radio. "We have one hour to get to bag our man and get to the LZ. Go."

The men patrolling around the wall near the Wall Commander's House were silently dispatched with the silenced sidearms of the Epsilons. Then a group of three men quickly ran up to the wall and placed the small C4 charge on the wall. One soldier programmed the timer and the other whispered into his radio, "Thirty seconds."

"Thirty seconds go." The voice responded.

The soldier who just set the timer armed it and the two men ran quickly back into the forest. The small blast that opened up the wall by the gate commanders house was greatly overshadowed by the giant roar on the opposite side of town, spitting flames and vegetable matter into the air. The snipers began firing on the guards, while immediately afterward a frag grenade was tossed into the opening. BZ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3-quinuclidinyl_benzilate) grenades were fired into the windows of the Wall Commander's house, while an HE grenade was fired into the wall of the Wall Commander's house. This team quickly formed a perimeter around the house, firing at anything that moved. A group wearing gas masks lobbed another BZ grenade and a flash bang into the house, and then entered, grabbed the commander, and while a fourth team entered the wall, spraying suppressing fire while the team carrying the unconscious commander back into the woods. The fourth team exited the compund, covering their counterparts as they entered the woods, dropping incendiary grenades as they escaped. The snipers did the same as they dropped from their positions and took to the woods. The entire team broke into groups of three and followed their individual predetermined paths--too far from eachother to be trailed as a group.

The small amount of foreigners on the mainland was noted by the tribes and they decided to send a message to the other peoples that they would not be tolerated by their peoples. With that ten thousand tribal soldiers had now been assembled and their attack would soon begin.

As well, they now moved into the area of the occupied village and sent up their camp with all their soldiers in it. Also, they began sent up their massive war fires on the hills in the area.

The Estovakian soldiers were not too worried about the numbers of the tribal warriors. Due to the terrain around the settlement, the attacking tribal warriors would have to squeeze tightly together or attack a few at a time, thus negating their numbers.

All five companies of infantry were landed in the base, while all civilians were evacuated. The cruiser and destroyers were moved as close as possible to land to be able to provide fire support. CS canisters were readied and the soldiers readied their arms.

Two helicopters with HE rockets and chain gun ammunition took off from the airfield at night. Using the war fires as a guide, the helicopters flanked the war camp and attacked from the sides or from behind. They unloaded the rockets at bunches and groups of tribal warriors and used chain guns against individual targets. They attacked targets of interest such as suspected food stores, wagon trains, and more heavily decorated tents- which the Estovakians suspected might be officers, priests, or royalty.

More perversely, one of the helicopters dropped a bloated, decomposing corpse of a woman killed during the intial attack on the coastal village with a message pasted in their language on her chest on top one of the tents, warning that if they if they should take up arms and attack, what happened to her would happen to their families. To drive the point home, the helicopters attacked two nearby tribal villages with remaining chaingun ammunition.

A message sent by runner (a captive villager) that was sent to arrive at the same time as the attack reminded the tribal warriors that while they were here with their arms their homes and families remained vulnerable to the attack. The war was unnecessary, the message pleaded, and there was no reason for them to die for no purpose. To die would leave their families open to rape and torture and appealed to the warriors to think about family over certain disaster. They could be home, protecting their villages from attack from the mountain tribes who were already on their way to kill and that the enemy wasn't the foreigners, but their barbaric and ancesteral enemy of the mountains. Instead of fighting a losing battle to the Estovakians with their superior weaponry, the message stated that the two countries could exist as friends and protect from a greater and more evil threat and that Estovakian support would be useful for them than against them, as they had just witnessed. The message left off with a reminder of the power of Estovakian military might and that the tribal warriors would be better of allied with this power than at the receiving end.

After the prisoner was wheeled away the first interrogator spoke. "He seemed pretty self-confident. Sodium pentathol might just turn him from a prick to a sleepy prick."

The second interrrogator smiled slightly. "That was no sodium pentathol. It was heroin. With a midazolam chaser. In about twenty minutes, he'll have quite possibly the most euphoric experience in his life..."

"...But he won't remember it?"

Which means everything we injected into him is still there, and is just being processed slower, if at all. Midazolam, as it touches the blood, becomes fat soluble and will accumulate in his brain, so when his metabolism returns to normal, he'll really feel it. And the heroin is going no place either. Since he slowed down his metabolism, his liver isn't going to metabolize it as fast. if anything, it gives the heroin time to saturate his bloodstream. I want constant surveiliance, I want to know when who comes, who goes, whose big, whose small, and most importantly, who else is giving them firepower. "What about the prisoner?" Miller asked.

In the western lands the mountain tribes assembled a massive army of 80,000 of their powerful warriors and began a full scale invasion along against the frontier tribes who were too fragmented to unite into a single power to fight them.

The Estovakians were at a loss regarding the native attitudes and actions. They did what they could. They hooked up speakers on the base and on the helicopters and got native speakers to try to rally the fighting tribes into one coherent fighting organisation again. Realizing the settlers, once they landed, would need land, the Estovakians did what they could to help the pro-Estovakian natives beat out the anti-Estovakians so that the Estovakians could take their land.

The Estovakians tried to organize a coalition with pro-Estovakian natives under a southern tribal chieftein and a 16 year old high priestess from another tribe in the southeast. The alliance was headed by the priestess, whose shrewdness, exceptional oratory skills, and military genius was only exceeded by her godly beauty. Combined, her intelligence, charm, and looks were awe-inspiring and she was easily a great leader. If she had grown up in a more civilized country, should would have probably grown up to have become head of a major coperation, and easily a millionaire. It was a shame, the senior officers thought, that she grew up here instead of back home.

However, the small civil conflict that was going on was the least of the Estovakians' worries. An 80,000 strong army was heading toward the lowlands, bent on plunder and conquest. The Estovakians armed their helicopters with HE rockets again and headed west. Noticing that the army was still divided since the rock formations squeezed through several narrow valleys, the helciopters fired their rockets into the rock faces to cause avalanches and slow down the advance.

He being a man of little words, great strength, masterful charisma, and a calculating mind gathered the northern, eastern, and central plains and river tribes together for a war against the invader in the south along with the far smaller number of tribes who supported the foreign scum.

With their new commander all the warriors that could be gathered were mustered into a signal army of 240,000 warriors who were armed with fairly modern weapons and knew how to use them. Yet, these warriors knew that they could not stand against these foreign tribes on the open battle field and so for the first few weeks began a large guerilla campaign.

As for the priestess she rallied to her 60,000 warriors from the southern tribes, but these warriors served only to protect their homes and not in her name and would desert if they felt that their home and lands were threatened.

"We consent to being searched as we have nothing to hide. We come from as representatives to the interests of The Community. We wish to discuss several things, among them trade, perhaps the purchase of more of your lands, but the most important thing we have to discuss with you. We wish to negotiate peace with your nation. A permanent vow that hostilities will never enter between our two great peoples. And in exchange for this, we have a gift. Should you choose peace with us, we will give you one hundred Standoff-Land Attack Missiles (Extended Range) as well as the necessary hardware to launch these independantly. These missiles will allow you to strike enemies from hundreds of kilometres away, whether your enemy is on land or at sea, whether your enemy is standing still or moving."

IC: Doing a rather quick search they completed their search and then they brought them through a large palace filled with marble and then they opened the massive bronze doors to the throne where the ruler stood and said I response to what they said and replied,” As king of these lands agree to these statements I wish to know what happened to the Capitan of the Wall Guard and would these missiles have the tracker devices that the guns you gave us had?”

"We are the citizens' council, and we have only a vague knowledge of what is occuring war-wise. The guns offered to you were not assembled here, however it is in the nature of the Siapian military to keep tabs on hardware they issue, however if you desire peace as we do, we will assume that you have no intention of using it on us, therefore where these missiles go is of no concern to us, and we have no reason to track them. All we can tell you is that they will be designed so they cannot be disassembled for reverse-engineering purposes. They can be broken down in a very specific manner for transportation and storage, but they cannot be disassembled further than that, other wise charges inside of them will detonate. This is simply because certain components used in the constrution of these missiles are still under liscense. As for your Wall Guard Captain, we do not know what happened to him. All we know is that some of the occupying powers in the north have been launching brutal raids and raping women and children.

OOC: The Citizens' Council will be the primary power eventually, but the military is still the de facto power in the colonies.

The missiles were delivered, and assembled, as per the agreement, and there were no tracking devices inside of them. The military forces on the island were cautious, but moved away slowly from the border.

A masterful commander who had been trained by ex-Scandinvan tacticians in the colony now took the reins of the resistance against the invasion.

During the relative stability, the Estovakians took time to land 500 men, most of whom had been policemen, had military experience, or had experience with identical terrain to form the Territorial Infantry. They helped, if only locally, to help the 240,000 man lowland army.

An additional 1,500 settlers were landed and settled on land evicted from the hostile lowland tribes that had opposed the Estovakian landings. Most of the former native residents had been distributed amongst the friendly tribes, including the very tribe of the commander trained by ex-Scandinvan tacticians, but a great many tht had been captured by the Estovakians were incorperated by the settlers as laborers, helping to maintain farms. A few of the natives had cunningly managed to convince the Estovakian authorities to open up a restaurant serving indiginous food in a small town near the military base which together are called "Beggarstown" because the base and the residents need to "beg" to get supplies from a very reluctant mainland.

Engineers, which have grown increasingly in numbers, both from local labor and more engineers, began building a dirt road from Beggarstown toward the priestess's village/capital, which the Estovakians called Hoch su' Masha, the Estovakianized pronounciation of the village. The reason was two-fold, it would allow trade (and hopefully increase relations) between the two towns, but also the priestess's village was located on the way toward the Scandinavan territory for which the settlers hoped to eventually trade and communicate with.

While the military had a more relaxed role since the natives were more concerned about each other, its still did its best to help the friendly lowland natives. The Estovakians sent a native to act as an emissary between the Estovakians and the native commander. He offered the commander a plan.

There were several disgruntled mountain tribe chiefteins that were disgruntled with the current king. The Estovakians knew of one through local intelligence that was vulnerable to bribery and could easily be persuaded for a surprisingly low price because of his hatred for the king. If he could be bribed, the army would lose around 2,000 soldiers- not a lot but a start. The Estovakians estimated that the outer provinces closer to the lowlands contained some sympethetic citizens as well as captured lowland slaves and were more vulnerable to mutiny against the king. The senior officers estimated as many as 20,000 soldiers of the 80,000 soldier army were probably unloyal and prone to desertion. While not enough to cripple the army, it would certainly preoccupy the army and the invasion as the army would have to pull back to stem the revolts.

The Estovakians though noted that it wouldn't be wise if that happened to invade the mountain tribes- such a hostile catalyst would certainly unite the mountain tribes for a common cause and an army probably larger than the 80,000 would be summoned.
