The clones visor flickered on and off, its status report telling him just how bad the situation was. Direct hit to the shoulder, aorta cut blood loss severe. The injury in his thigh, well, there was no thigh left to speak off. Suffice to say the prognosis wasn't good. "Well played my Jedi friend." Sixty-Six laughed as he ebbed into shadow, "Well played...."

Behind him several medics charged through the hanger breech stretchers and bacta pads in their hands.

"Well?" A certain clone commander asked as he too cleared the debris. "Will they survive?" A few gurgles and screams was his answer. "I see my brother fell in combat?"

"Dead sir, two direct laser shots."

"And the prisoner." Sixty-Six looked down at the bloody mess of Hawkins, his large durastell boot nestled against his face.

"Alive for now, but we need to get him to Med bay immediately."

"See to it, and alert the Sentinels to guard him." In the background Sirius coughed as he rose.

"Is it alive?" His voice snarled vengeance. Sixty-Six ignored hm.

"Guards, see to it that Lord Sirius is placed in one of our most comfortable chambers, the emperor is most displeased with his pathetic show."

"What?"

"My dear Sirius, you must learn when to shut up." Sixty-Six lifted his rifle and offered him two stun blasts to the head. Once more he crumpled to the ground.

Hawkins was rushed through the Imperial palace, the lights above streaming as his vision entered in and out of focus. "We need a direct line now, we're losing him"

"Get doctor Flail on the horn, tell him to prep for surgery." The gurney turned a sharp corner narrowly missing two nurses. "He's coding." The small monotone beep filled the corridor. "Hand me Defibs."

"Charged to 100%." The panels touched down on the Jedis chest, restarting his heart. "We need to do something about the blood loss."

"Let Flail handle it." The doctor turned the corner, mask on, gloves strapped and eyes annoyed.

"Get out of here you idiots." He said to the flanking marines. "You're contaminating my ER." He went ignored. "On three now gentleman, one, two, three....."

Two Days Later

"Doctor, how is he?"

"He's going to survive if that's what your asking, but we had to remove a kidney and replace it with a synthasised version."

"When will he be available for questioning?"

"A few days if all goes well." Both turned towards the bacta tank, Hawkins was there floating gently in the bubbles.

"We will be positioning two Sentinels to guard the Jedi doctor, be sure to see that the Yasimalri are kept well fed and alive. You will find that this ones very dangerous."

"Yes Lord August." Flail dutifully responded.

"Now my friend, please, tell me how the virus has fared?"

Flail moved behind his desk and pulled out datapads and some holochrons. We had preliminary success in the first fifteen minutes of targetting the midichlorians, however the patients unusualy high white blood count saw to it's neutralisation within five hours."

"Five hours; Impressive. Any unexpected symptons?"

"Nothing yet, however the patient has now been rendered immune to this strain, any further attempts will only remove him of his force abilities for minutes at the most. I would have to say that the test was a failure."

"And the subjects DNA?"

"Flail handed Augaust the data stick. On record and dispatched to Wayland. Captain Telos will hand the information over personaly."

"I assume he can be trusted."

"Hawkins killed his son." Flail lowered his tone. "The information is quite secure." The quiet conversation was interrupted by the heavy trudging of two sentinels as they entered the sickbay.

"Well." The Kaminoan inclined his head. "I will leave you three to get acquainted."

Sudated and helpless, Hawkins was left alone in the clutches of the empire.

The first sensation that emerged as the black fog faded was a strange burning in his cheeks. Gradually the feeling strengthened and was joined by the awareness of something solid against his back and legs. Thirst showed up next, followed immediately by pressure on his forearms and shins. The sound of whispering air…the awareness that there was soft light beyond his closed eyelids. The knowledge that he was lying horizontally.

Only then did Hawkins mind come awake enough to notice that he was still alive.

Cautiously he opened his eyes. A meter above him was a featureless white-steel ceiling.; tracing along it he found it ended in four white-steel walls no more then five meters apart. Hidden lights gave a hospital glow to the room; by it he saw that the only visible exit was a steel door in a heavily reinforced frame. In one corner a spigot-water? – protruded from the wall over a ten-centimeter drainage grille that could probably serve as a toilet if absolutely necessary. His equipment and light sabers were gone., but his captors had left him his cloths.

As far as a death-cell went it seemed quite cheerful. As a surgery prep room it was woefully deficient. Rising his head he studied the plates pinning his arms and legs to the table. Not shackles, he decided more likely a complex set of biomedical sensors with drug injection capabilities. Which meant the Imps ought to know he was awake by now, which meant that they let him wake up.

He was aware, deep down that not all the fog had cleared away; but even so it seemed incredibly stupid on their part.

His first impulse was to free himself from the table in a single lunge. He had not the power of the force but he could manage it easily relying upon his internal servos. He would then turn his anti-armor laser on the door and get the hell out of dodge. But the sheer irrationality of the situation made him reconsider his actions.

What did the Imps think they were doing anyway?

What ever it was, it was not normal procedure for them. Hawkins had heard stories about the live dissection of Jedi or other Force Recons such as himself to see just what technology or abilities they had hidden within themselves. Yet if that was their course of action he would have been kept sedated for the duration.

Torture was out, he was a raking member and a leader in the Farstars Confederacy, as such any physical torture above a certain level would result in a self-destruct, which would not only kill himself but everyone else within twenty meters.

What else remained then…Ransom? Ridiculous…Would they allow him to escape to lead the imperials back to his resistance contacts or rebel bases? No…There were many locations on planet where Hawkins could secure aid without detection. He was also trained in escape and evasion, the imperials wouldn’t be able to track him more then a few hours.

Did they want him to escape so he would be forced to showcase all the internal technology he could utilize…was that it? Hawkins the Jedi wasn’t much of a threat but Hawkins the marine was….epically if there was more then one of him in action at once.

Well he supposed he would just have to wait and see what developed…

"Well doctor?" Kar August asked in his predictable regal tone.

"The subject is alive if that's what you're wanting to know, and his force abilities are muffled. But we've been unable to disable his implants. The technology the Farstars have used is somewhat unusual." The doctor frowned slightly, obviously he didn't approve of such biological desecration's. "Intelligence." He said moving towards the screens."Have been unable to pin point the devices origins." Flail checked on Hawkins vitals. "The subject is awake."

August nodded gracefully "And have we determined the extent of his implants?"

"He's running through the check routine now." Flail watched the readings scrolling upon the wall monitor. "They seem to be connected by several organic servos linking with the main brain stem here." His hand pointed to a holo image. "It will be possible to remove them, however I wouldn't advise it until the subject has been broken mentally."

"Records from the Farstar war showed their marines perpetual tendencies to remove themselves from our holding cells. I believe some reports detailed internal energy weapons."

"Yes the sooner we arrive at our destination the better." The doctor glanced towards the med room. "How long until we arrive?"

"We will be upon Wayland in a few hours, from there we will be able to begin the growing of our emperors new recruits." The doctor nodded, Wayland; so that was the destination of the Judicator. The planet once home to the emperors secret warehouse of sparti cylinders and technological wonders had now been converted into his private coliseum, a vast chamber subject to the whim of a Galactic audience.

The Empire lacked heroes in this time of strife, moral was approaching a deadly point on some worlds primarily Anaxes which had seen very little of the blood and death suffered on the rim, a great injustice to a warrior culture. "I trust then Hawkins shall be fighting in the arena?"

"He shall." Kar August said with an odd Kaminoan slight. "He should be one of the best contenders. The emperor has gone to a lot of trouble to bring these games to the people."

"So I see." Flail said with a hint of sarcasm. "Shall we leave Hawkins awake for the transfer?"

"I see no reason why he should pose a threat. Implants or not, without the force he will fall to a blaster just as much as any man." Too tired to point out the repeated escapes of Daniel Masaki, Luke Skywalker, Hawkins himself and other fugitives in Imperial history the doctor just accepted that the Imperial ethos of superiority would never fade.

"I'll leave him be then." Flail said submitting to Kar Augusts arrogance.

A few clangs sounded from the white plasterasteel door as its magnetic locks each disengaged. From the open portal several Imperial Storm Troopers entered the room. Outside, an entire company waited to escort the Jedi to the landing transport.

"Don't know why we can't just shoot him?" A few grunts of agreement came along the link. "This ones responsible for the death of so many of our brothers ... there so much that could go wrong in transport."

"So much that could involve an inquiry." Kar August offered from the doorway. "Knight Hawkins." He nodded in the general direction of the loosely covered marine. "I trust you will come without a fight?" The wrist bands and intravenous tubes were each released and in their place several chains added, including a collar. "If you get too adventurous." The Kaminoan smiled. "Well, you're familiar with this type of device...."

If there was anything Hawkins hated worst then Sith it was Kaminoans, well ok he didn’t hate anything worst then the Sith but a Kaminoan came damn close. And especially that haughty bastard August, and Hawkins didn't care at all for being chained like some damn animal.

"Yea, I think I remember something about it..." He muttered as he stood, then without warning he launched himself at that long-necked bastard tackling him. He then drew back his head quickly and threw it forward intending to crush the alien's face.

Hit, shoulder first in the stomach Kar August was naturally pulled to the ground, his back and thin frame colliding with the unforgiving durasteel deck. Everything seemed to move in slow motion, Hawkins pulled his head back, ready for a killing blow, while August just lay there, his large vacant eyes staring into a condemned mans face. But contact was never made. One of the two sentinels had extended their staffs, leaving Hawkins to make contact with a Kortosis pole.

Hawkins had no access to the force, his body's bones were essentially unbreakable yet his skin, muscles, and nerves remained those of a normal man. He could be shocked, gassed, and shot. He could survive a fall from some of the tallest buildings, but he would not be standing anytime soon. And so when the stun cuffs activated he recoiled and the guards staffs sent his body into involuntary muscle spasms as his nerves misfired. Then everything went blank once again.
