Bratton Province, Northern Doveridge

Martin Lassiter waiting somewhat impaitently for the paper to finish printing. The thick file currently being churned out by the printer contained the results of 3 1/2 months of intensive survey work on several promising sites. Lassiter was the head of the Ocion Petroleum (OP) survey team assigned to investigate several potential oil fields of great potential in Doveridge's isolated northern province.

Finally the printer came to a stop and Lassiter tore the file loose and began to read it. Less than a minute later his jaw dropped, the fields they were surveying had a potential yield of over 180 billion barrels of oil. This was a truly massive find. Less than 10 minutes later he was on the phone with no less than R. Donald Finch III, the CEO of OP and one of the richest men in Ocion, detailing the potential for the find.

Within days hundreds of OP workers and tons of equipment were arriving in Doveridge to begin establishing drilling sites. Also, OP announced nearly $200 million in upgrades to Townsend Refinery, Doveridge's only petroleum refining facility. The windfall was huge for OP, within a week it's stock price has risen 73% and Doveridge's economy was thriving thanks to the massive investments flowing into the nation since the discovery.

It was an unusually foggy morning in the capital of Neo-Erusea. People were waking up for work, walking to a Neucom Inc bus stop while listening to the messages broadcasting from the speakers across the street. Apart from the fog, it was a normal day in the city. It would be, for at twelve a frequent display of Neo-Erusea's military might would be taking place. Citizens went on with their daily lives until the hour approached, and many left work to watch.

While the soldiers of the Republican Army never seem to be equipped well, they are expert soldiers and seasoned veterans from three wars. The Neo-Erusean armymen clenched their AK-47 rifles rifles and marched down a wide street, followed by G7S tanks and technicals (not the kind from Somalia, rather modified 4x4 Zil vehicals that resemble jeeps.), while the very advanced air force flew overhead. Premier David Mondol was watching his army, until he was summoned by his cabinet.

"Sir" said Minister of Foreign Affairs Chris Grisal, "a large amount of oil has been found in a small nation known as Doveridge, which is nearby."
"Oh really? What else?"
"Sir, when I say a large amount of oil, I mean that the entire northern region of that country is overflowing with it. If we take it the findings will bring Neo-Erusea a tremendous jump for our economy."
"Hmm... That is brilliant. Summon the war counsil."

Neo-Erusean forces were already mobalizing for the war. Many of the men have just come back from Birania and were reluctant to go, but nevertheless they chose to further serve their country.

Near the Amber Mountain range Neo-Erusean soldiers were outside training, and getting ready to be deployed. The target was Doveridge.

Camp Tinsley, 25 km south of Whitten

Colonel Alex Brayton watched as the last of Doveridge's brand new Dragon MBTs was unloaded from the back of the HET that had brought it from the port at Buckford. Doveridge had very little in the way of military power, a single active duty mechanized brigade, two helicopter battalions, three light infantry battalions in the Reserves, a handful of support units scattered around the country and the Rangers. The Rangers were an elite airmobile force of about 200 soldiers who were trained in both aiborne and air assault operations, however they were too few in number and too lightly equipped to serve as more than a raiding and reaction force. Doveridge's other military branches were even weaker. The Air Force had just 20 F-16s and 5 A-10s and small force of 18 C-130s. The Navy made do with just 6 Cyclone patrol combatants and about a dozen coastal patrol boats that were good for little more than stopping smugglers and keeping foreign fishermen out of Doveridge's territorial waters.

Brayton hoped the nation's new found oil wealth allowed them to remedy these gross shortcomings, because if they didn't then someone might get the idea to come take their oil. Brayton shook his head if that happened, he had little illusions about his chances to survive the ensuing battle, but he'd do his best to make any invader pay in blood for the oil they sought.

The landing force was being assembled before Marshal Boris Hasand's eyes. A fine fleet was before him, the Aegir fleet that had gone to war in Gunkoku. There were 15 Yedinorog landing carriers with 2 ZUBR landing crafts each. The invasion force consisted of a variety of G7S* tanks and BMP-3 APCs. Several NM-3 Rhino 203mm artillery* vehicles were being loaded, along with the Republican Army soldiers. The invasion of Doveridge would be quick and swift, with the capture of the oil fields intact as a priority. The Neo-Erusean High Command were planning a mass-extermination of the Doveridge people, for if they come to arms they will prove menacing to the occupying forces. The answer of the NE officers was to kill them all. The fleet consisted of:

15 Yedinorog landing carriers
30 ZUBR hovercrafts
1 Iowa-class battleship
19 Neustrashimy-class frigates
11 Udaloy-class destroyers
4 Kirov-class Cruisers
26 Cargo ships
3 Akula II-class SSN (nuclear-powered attack subs)
1 NQA Farbanti-class stealth carrier*
(45 X-02* fighters aboard the carrier, 6 KA-31 Helix helicopters)

800,000 infantry - AK-74 rifle
400 G7S MBT
210 BMP-3 APC
55 NM-3 Rhino
400 Technicals (modified 4x4 jeeps)
35 Zil trucks

The Neo-Eruseans also had plenty more military machines to be deployed, being loaded onto ships elsewhere.

Checkpoint Alfa-6, 209 km east of St. John

Lt. Commander Carl Jackson turned the hulking P-3 Orion into a slow banking turn. The Orion, call sign Jackal 2-5, had been on patrol for nearly 5 hours and had 4 more to go before they could call it a day. Thier main job was to hunt for illegal fishing boats or smugglers, but little did they know that their patrol today brought them dangerously close to Erusean invasion fleet's course.

The Neo-Erusean Aegir fleet had entered Doveridge waters and continued southwest at a steady 25kts. They had come across a small fishing vessel that was sunk to avoid detection. Hasand was quite relaxed, until a radar officer siad, "Sir, we've got a contact bearing 2-4-0. He's heading northeast."
"Are you kidding me? What in the hell could it be?"
"Uhh... Okay, radar confirms its a P-3 Orion. She's probably carrying a Harpoon or two."
"Damn. We can't risk that plane sooting at the fleet or even finding us. I want it shot down." A Kirov cruiser locked onto the enemy aircraft and launched two SA-15 SAMs at it. The two missiles reached Mach 2.8 and streaked towards the P-3.

The P-3s warning recievers sounded as soon as the SAMs targeting radars went live.

"Shit, we got 2 Vampires bearing 213 closing at Mach 2.8," barked Lt. Cutter, the plane's EWO.

Jackson was on the radio within momnets, "Snake Den this is Blue Viper. We have come under attack via SAM 19 km north og Checkpoint Alfa-6. Better get somebody else out here...." Jackson's transmission was cut off as the SAMs destroyed the P-3.

Camp Tinsley

Col. Brayton recieved word that a naval patrol plane had lost due to an unknown force with SAMs about 200 km for St. John. Most likely someone trying to land forces to try and take Doveridge's oil. "We'll see about that," Brayton thought to himself as his staff busily prepared the brigade for deployment. He looked over the map showing the Army's other units preparing for action as well as the status of various reserve units that had recieved activation orders.

He picked up his phone and called an old college friend from years ago. "Jacob, it's been too long. I have a favor to ask of you."

Jacob Carr hung up the phone after the call with his old college roomate Alex concluded.

Carr was the newly appointed head of Ocion's National Directorate of Intellignce and a very powerful man. Carr had served in the Ocic Army after graduation before moving over to the NDI's Special Purposes Group. After a long and distinguished career an injury sustained playing football with his son forced him into the exciting world of analysis. After several highly publicized failures of the previous NDI Director, Carr had been tapped for the post, despite his youth and political inexperience. Despite this he had made sweeping changes throughout the organization and as a result had much more leeway than any prior NDI chief.

He picked up his phone and dialed the Orbital Surveillance Department.
"This is Carr, I need to retask one of your birds."

The Neo-Erusean fleet was already nearing the launch point. ZUBR landing craft were getting ready double-time. Everyone knew that the P-3 would have announced something before it died. And that the Doveridge will be preparing for the worst. However this was a situation out of their control, the Neo-Erusean Aegir fleet was unstoppable compared to the Doveridge Navy. From the carrier X-02 planes were arming and pilots preparing to take off.

The army was preparing another smaller fleet to provide reinforcements to the landing force. This smaller fleet would carry logistics ad supplies, as well as better equiped soldiers.

These men had newer helmets and G36 (http://www.world.guns.ru/assault/as14-e.htm) assault rifles. These men had also served in the recent wars and were considered very potent fighters.

The satellite known as "Dixie Green" moved across the sky as it orbited the Earth at a blistering pace. It's powerful combination of IR sensors, cameras, and radars had searched for exactly 573 seconds before loacted the Aegir Fleet. Once spotted everyonr of its sensors had been turned on the fleet as a result Ocion, and through Carr's ties with Brayton, Doveridge now knew the exact composition of the fleet.

Location of fleet and invasion

Neo-Erusea ZUBR hovercrafts were launched and are heading towards the beach. Traveling unopposed by the petite Doveridge Navy, the hoversrafts reached 55km/hr and started to land on the beach. The ZUBRs hit the beach with their twin 30mm guns blazing, and their payload unloading. The G7S tanks began to open fire on everything with their 140mm guns and infantry stayed inside their BMP-3 vehicles and BTR-90s APCs.
