long as anyone can remember. The battles had raged. The struggle for power have torn the world apart and glued it back together. Large war machines have rolled over the continent only to be crushed against enemy castles. Thousand of soldiers have been left in unmarked graves, hundreds of men have marched toward enemy positions only to be killed by enemy longbows. Knights have spurred there horses toward enemy lines only to smash into walls of spears. In these brutal struggles thousands on thousands of brave men have died in fights for glory and power.

On the island of Wutai to the west, the mightly castle Baird loomed in the darkness of night in the middle of a large grassy clearing, the moon high over shining brightly. Castle Baird was a mighty fortress constructed by Lord Winifred Baird I, it was passed down through the family for generations where it finally came into the hands of Barron Winifred Baird 5th. Lord Baird wanted more, the island was not enough for him, after calling all land owners and lords of the lands to a meeting it was decided it was time to prepare an expansion into the mainlands and it's surrounding islands, great things could be seen in the near future.

Lord Baird was from a long line of nobles from the nation of Osteia who had re-settled after the revolution seeking a place of peace, Osteians were brilliant tacticians and ferice soldiers who are also very well equiped and trained in warfare.

Grand Sultan Imad ad-Din Atabeg Zengi, who was currently in his study inside the massive fortress of Ghal'eh Dokhtar, poured over dozens of maps, trying to fully analyze the various situations in the world. This is how he spent most of his nights these days. Although he was not the idealistic patriot he was fifteen years ago, the fate of Ravean Midgar depended upon Zengi, and therefore he worked tirelessly to keep his nation safe.

The Ravean army was one of the biggest, well armed, and mobile in the world; Ravean Midgar was well supplied with a massive amount of food, horses and metals; the Ravean cavalry were the most skilled in the world, although recent reports told that the Osteians were almost as good. Everything looked peachy in Zengi's mind except for one thing-wood.

Being a plains nation, there wasn't very much wood to go around; even the mountians were running low on the product, and much of the timeber of the nation had been spent on the high-quality but low-quantity navy. It was imparative to seek an alliance with either the Kamasha Woodlanders or the Aurigea; being as the Kamasha were violent raiders who constantly threatened Ravean Midgar's southern coast, the Aurigea seemed like a better choice. The Aurigeans has one of the best, if not the best navies in the world; the Raveans were good shipmakers but paled in comparision to Aurigean crafters. The Sultan reminded himself to send an emmisary with an offer of alliance to that particular nation as soon as possible.

Sacred Guarde, Aurigea

The sun had just set on the horizion, bathing the land in a blood red glow. High on atop the ramparts of the Auirgean fortress Sacred Guarde, stood the Aurigean Emperor Marcus Sentius Caesar. He was a tall man about six foot five clean shaven but with a powerful build of someone who had served in the military. His eyes were gray and had a hardness about them that made you realize while he may have softened with age, he wasn't someone to be taken lightly.

Staring out across his lands, he thought to himself, All of this is mine, something that I would never have dreamed of as a child. He cringed inwardly as he thought of the hardships of his past. He unlike so many of the others in the government had not bee born into a life of privilege. Instead, he had spent his childhood an orphan wandering the streets spending many a cold night in an alleyway and scrounging for food. A child with nothing to look forward to in his life until the military got hold of him. Within the army came a new sense of belonging and drove him to outclass everyone. A man with nothing to lose is the toughest opponent someone can have and Marcus used it to his advantage. He had advanced quickly through the army showing a keen tactical sense and before he knew it, he was elected the youngest Emperor ever. As these thoughts swirled through his head, he felt his heart swell with accomplishment. No one else would have dreamed I would be here, and now I've proved them wrong.

"Caesar," came a voice from behind him. "You are requested in the Senate, they are beginning to vote."

"I will be there shortly, Quintus. Inform me of the progressions when I arrive."

"Yes Caesar," the man replied and he hurried away.

Marcus lingered a bit longer at the wall, savoring the peacefulness something that he didn't have the luxury of anymore. Then with one last look at the disappearing sun, he turned and strode towards the Senate chamber and the controversy that would surely be waiting for him.

Senate Chamber, Sacred Guarde, Aurigea

Meanwhile in the Senate Chamber, chaos reigned supreme as Senators shouted back and forth at one another while the majordomos tried vainly to bring order. Finally, after what seemed like hours, the shouting died down until only two senators were left debating, Gaius Acilius Annalis and Decimus Solanius Calidus.

Decimus was a short stocky man with a dark beard and rather beedy eyes. He had a reputation for being a warmonger and was prone to the occasional drunken rage. His opposite number was tall and thin with a seemingly unshakable demeanor. He spoke calmly back at the apoplectic little man whose beedy eyes were now shooting daggers at him.

"Why shouldn't we ally ourselves with other nations, Decimus? We need the resources, our population is too large for this island to support for much longer."

"What happened the last time or are you too young to remember? Let me tell you, we were betrayed by the very people we trusted and we barely saved our culture. If we need more land then we take it by force, it is the only possible solution."

Gaius opened his mouth again to argue when one of the senators called out, "Let it come to a vote!"

Once the vote was called, the debate ended and the poll was taken. About halfway through, Marcus walked into the chamber where he was told the situation.

"The vote is tied right now Caesar and it will be very close," whispered Quintus as he marked more numbers down on the tablet in front of him. Three hours later, the vote had been decided 174 to 169 in favor of sending out envoys to the other nations. The stage was set and the pieces were in motion now it would come down to who made the first mistake.

OOC: Anyone who wants an envoy to come to their nation, just RP to arrival and I will take the negotiations from there.

Footsteps echoed through the Great Hall of Ghal'eh Dokhtar and into the Grand Sultan's chamber room. Zengi was currently busy sketching a map of his massive fortress; drawing was an art he was particularly fond of and skilled at. He lay his brush down to greet the man who had just entered his room. It was Kareem Sauddulam, Zengi's High Advisor; he was a useful messanger, a skilled negotiator, a great cook, and one of the Grand Sultan's most trusted friends and allies. The two had fought together in the Ravean War of the Succession as Sipahis.

"We have a visitor, Zengi. He arrived just this morning."

Zengi looked questionably at his old friend.

"Who is it?"

"A diplomat from Aurigea. He wants to discuss a possible alliance.

The Grand Sultan's eyebrows shot up. It seemed Emperor Caesar had chosen to act before Zengi had. At least it saved him the troublf of dispatching an envoy. Zengi didn't know as much about Ceasar as he did about the other kings and rulers of the world, despite the fact that he had his Red Raven spies and assassians in every royal court. He knew that the Aurigean Emperor was proud, determined, and a very talented general.

"Bring the envoy to the Throne room. I'll meet him there. Make sure he's not an assassian, either."

Several minutes later, Zengi, on his large golden throne, motioned for the doors to his royal chamber be opened; he watched as the Aurigean envoy stepped forward in front of him.

10 boats neared the southern parts of Betas empire. Covered by the dark they landed out of sight from a small village. There small boats carried 50 woodland soldiers each and were formed as transport ships. They ships were not built for naval warfare but for stocking up plundered goods. They landed and left for the village. Living in the jungle they knew the art of concealing them selves and keep low as they crawled towards the sleeping village.
equipped with there poisonous blowing darts they could make a person sleep for five hours, without giving them nothing more then a head ace when they woke up.

Ghal'eh Dokhtar, Ravea

As the doors opened, the Raveans got their first glimspe of the man that was supposed to be a diplomat. His appearance however was one a of a hardened warrior right down the gleaming armor and hilt of his very real sword. He was tall, had blond hair and a fair complexion and his muscles bulged under the chainmail on his arms. All in all, a very intimidating figure until one searched for his eyes. They sparkled with a kind of hidden humor that dismissed his appearance completely.

As he reached the throne, he ground to a rigid halt removed his helmet and kneeled before the Sultan.

"Greetings Grand Sultan Imad ad-Din Atabeg Zengi, I am Claudius Iriminius Canus sent by Emperor Marcus Sentius Caesar to offer a hand of friendship and to possibly establish an equitable agreement for trade of certain goods."

Night had fallen in Alyscamps, the gates had been closed and now the town guard patrolled atop the walls. The two sentries over the gate stared blankly out into the dense forest trying to shake off the nightly chill. Then suddenly, one of them heard a rustle in the bushes near the gate. He nudged his partner who nodded silently and drew his sword.

OOC: The battle is all yours Kamasha. I didn't want to RP your guys attacking but feel free to have the two sentries get wiped out because they are pretty outnumbered.

The soldiers sneaked as close as possible. When they couldn't get any closer they picked up there blowing darts and short bows. In missions as this most leaders preferred the blowing darts. Persons hit by one of the darts fall down silent immediately. The poison immobilises the targets making it unable to move and speak. But still they could see and hear. This was one of the most cruel poisons that the woodland people used. The target would be forced to lay there unable to move and look upon there own city as it is plundered..

The army were divided into several units. First unit was the attacking unit. 100 men spread around the village. The next unit were 200 men that would engage as the battle started. The last unit were 200 men that were only to be spent when the defence were defeated.

The sound of a owl sounded through the village. All darts were blown away. One hundred shadows swarmed toward the walls. Carrying with them home made ladders they swarmed over the walls. All happened in silence. There were no need to wake the villagers yet.

Fighting with there short range blowing darts they entered the village and the second unit claimed over the walls. Now they did not care if the people woke up. The party had begun.

"Greetings Grand Sultan Imad ad-Din Atabeg Zengi, I am Claudius Iriminius Canus sent by Emperor Marcus Sentius Caesar to offer a hand of friendship and to possibly establish an equitable agreement for trade of certain goods."

"No need to kneel, Claudius. I am grateful that you have come."

Zengi rose from his throne and waved away his guards; his torquise robe swept across the marble floor as he approched the diplomat.

"You are well-dressed, especially for a diplomat. Such armor! Impressive...Although I cannot blame you. The world is a dangerous place. Come, let us walk and talk."

Zengi waved his guards away; he recognized the look in Claudius's eyes, and even if he was an assassian, Zengi was confident he could handle him. A Pata sword and a pair of Katar knives were conceled in his robes. The pair walked the Grand Hall before heading outside onto one of the many high terraces of Ghal'eh Dokhtar; the massive plains beyond the fortress seemed to streach forever.

"Thank you for coming, Claudius. You saved me the trouble of dispatching my own emmisary to Aurigea. I am curious; what does exactly does Emperor Caesar want with me? What goods does the great nation of Aurigea require?"

OOC: I am indeed still here but RL has been severly restricting my time, hopefully you noticed that I haven't been logged into the forum for any length in quite a while. If you still wish to continue the RP, that is fine with me but it may be a while between posts for me. Hopefully not nearly as long as I have been out this time but it will take at least 2-3 days for me to get back to a post in my present situation.

Ghal'eh Dokhtar, Ravea

"Well as your Highness has already stated, the world is a dangerous place and Aurigea's need for allies grows by the day. And it is on this matter that the Emperor is most concerned. However there are secondary matters that are intertwined," Claudius paused momentarily to gather his thoughts before continueing.

"I am not sure if you are aware, but the population of our islands has grown exponentially in the past few years and we have been finding it extremely difficult to support our population effectively. Our storehouses are running dangerously low and soon will be empty. We would be most grateful if your nation would consent to provide shipments of food in exchange for shipments of stone and wood."

"Another thing we lack is a large source of iron for armor and weapons which in turn has lowered our military numbers rendereing us incapable of allocating sufficient defenses in certain important areas. We are willing to trade the secret of greek fire and provide your nation with naval vessels in exchange for shipments of iron," Claudius again paused to see how the offers were accepted before making his final statement.

"It is our hope that we may also form a mutual protection pact with your nation to ensure that our nation's may endure long into the future. I do not need an answer right away, but your speed would be most appreciated. Thank you for your time your Highness, I will now take my leave. Should you need to contact me on this matter, I am staying at an inn close to here."

Bowing again, Claudius turned and was escorted from the palace.

Alyscamps, Aurigea
The guards were dispatched easily by the overwhelming enemy numbers. Once the looting began, the villagers were roused from there beds. Most of them ran for the gate, but some stayed and fought only to be mercilessly struck down by the invaders. A fair ammount of the villagers managed to sneak their way out of the village during the fighting. Then using the forest they knew so well, they began the long trek to Sacred Guarde to tell their tale.
