Albinanda Serodini, Consigliera degli Governmenti
of Pacitalia since 10th August, has, in accordance
with constitutional regulations, called a federal
general election to take place on 16th October.
Pacitalia will head to the polls next month as CdG calls election
Serodini ends tenure as FPD leader no later than 10th December

Pacitalians will head to the polls on 16th October: that's the edict from Albinanda Serodini, who was constitutionally obligated to call for the vote no later than thirty days after assuming her position as interim head of state and government in the Democratic Capitalist Republic of Pacitalia.
"I have met with Comissioneri Anzomatti and he has dissolved parliament and the electant sectors of the federal government in order to facilitate the election of a new, permanent government on Monday, the sixteenth day of October," Serodini announced at a press conference in Timiocato Tuesday afternoon.
Serodini and her Federation of Progressive Democrats forfeited her opportunity to ever be elected a permanent leader of the party as they did not hold a convention to declare a successor within the last month. In exchange, Serodini will now, under constitutional rules, remain leader of the party until 10th December, at which time the party must have selected a new leader.
The fiery 32-year-old was widely celebrated as a strong leadership figure during Pacitalia's recovery from its worst political crisis in at least 600 years, taking the enshambled Pacitalian political system ruined by the scandalous Sorantanali government and converting it into an efficient and minimised unit that would not tolerate any corruption.
This startling decision by the FPD and Serodini not to allow her the opportunity to run for permanent leadership of the party surprised many within the walls of the fearsome political heavyweight, but political scientists note an interesting development that may actually have paved the way for the FPD to survive its worst (and only) scandal since its inception as the Pacifist Party in 1902.
"With Serodini's departure and none of the current administration seeking to return to the executive, or even to run in their constituencies again in October, it means the figurative old guard is out and the new guard, whoever they may be, is in," Liz Cunningham, a senior political science professor at the University of Mandragora said Tuesday over the phone. "We will see the emergence of many new political figures and aspiring leadership hopefuls over the next few months as the FPD echelon attempts to guide the party away from the cliff edges of disaster."
Cunningham added the decision on Serodini's part is also interesting in itself "because, to be honest, she was never to blame for what happened to Sorantanali's government, and her record in the capacities of head of state and government, interim or not, speak for themselves. She will be celebrated for guiding Pacitalia's most important political force out of the gutters."
Vittorio Cappuna, a moralist-conservative lawyer from Amita, has already thrown his hat into the leadership contest, while names like Archetenia Nera (a political commentator), Andreos Samothrakidis (the former chair of the Council of Religious Pacitalians) and Fiorenza Neroglianta (Agustinate of Industry and Resources under Sorantanali and Undersecretary of the Ampolitant Committees on Renewable Energies, Crime and Justice, and National Democratic Action under former prime minister Dr Timotaio Ell) have been floated as possible other candidates for the FPD leadership.
Meanwhile, speaking of the deposed PM Sorantanali, he awaits the presentation of first-degree murder and constitutional violation charges in a holding cell at an undisclosed military prison in Pacitalia. His lawyers would not return PNN calls Tuesday.
