The Asgarnian Navy (Naval Force of Asgarnieu) successfully tested a hyper-velocity ship-based weapon today, the HVX-10. It was fired at a ship slated for destruction. The 77mm projectile was made of a Tungsten-Beryllium-Steel alloy. It went completely through the ship, leaving an exact 77mm hole through the entire path of the round. It was fired by a magnetic accelerator fixed to a ship, The A.N.S. Rembrandt. At this time, it is seen a very practical weapon, but unwieldy. The Navy is working on scaling down the weapon, but retaining the caliber. If produced, it will be fired just below the surface of the water, to produce a sinking effect. It will take several to take down a large ship, but there is already a prototype that will be used against aircraft. When coupled with a radar system and a tracking trajectory computer system, it will be capable of aiming and firing the 77mm projectile at aircraft. It is assumed that one hit to an aircraft will completely disable it. There is also a program to outfit the HVX-10 with explosive rounds, that will further the destructive capabilities of the weapon.
