Following the Balkan War, the influence of Pro-Russian Politicians along with the Orthodox Church wanes as it becomes clear with the release of the full details of the Odessa Conference that Russia has betrayed Bulgaria.

This marks a significant shift in Bulgarian politics as the large pro-Russian support base dwindles away as their opponants use the recent incidents to fuel anger towards them, even to the point where several key poiticians take temporary leave to Russia to escape the persecution.

This however caused a power vaccum which allowed many other parties to gain prominance including the Liberals (who led the nation during the Crisis) and People Party (who capitlised to cut down on the power of the Orthodox Church on Society and Bring furher equality to other religions such as Jews and Muslims).

The Orthodox Church sees some shifts in leadership aswell, as the traditional "politically vocal" pro-Russian leaders are replaced with more spiritually minded clergy.

Infamous for his anti-Russian rhetoric, Vasil Radoslavov is expected to return to office as the post-war Prime Minister of Bulgaria and form a government.

Meanwhile plans begin to integrate Dobruja fully into Bulgaria as Social Services and Security is to be provided as soon as possible, while Local government is currently allowed, during the course of the following years the Bulgarian Government hopes to establish a centralised system in Dobruja through the course of gradual action.

In late May of 1910 as part of his European tour, Teddy Roosevelt passes through Bulgaria. Although schedules dictate that he move on to his next stop, the President hears that the Bulgarians would like to speak with him, and he orders a brief break to meet with the Bulgarian people and their officials over a long lunch.

The American President is welcomed to the nation and greeted warmly, however it is privately and quietly noted that there is some concern that the United States is "gifting" a nation that has almost threatened the stability of the entire region and entire continent.

Though it is not the position of the Bulgarian Government to dictate US forigen policies, concern is nonetheless expressed, it is also hoped that United States's position be known regarding the Balkans and recent events if only to put a few minds to ease.

The Bulgarians are assured that the policy of the United States is not designed to unbalance the Balkans, especially in favor of aggressors. Aid continues to flow to Albania and Roosevelt assures officials that it would be an easy matter to replicate the money given to Greece in a package for Sophia --if nothing else to repay the hospitality the Bulgarians have shown.

With the War over, the Bulgarian Leadership can begin its victory celebrations and marches, clearly a spectacular sight to view as the victorious First Infantry Corps march down the streets of Sophia followed by the rest of the army. The populace gathered around to throw stones on the battered defeated wooden Greek Phalanx soldier along with the chorus of Bulgarian Folk Music.

Present at the celebrations was his royal highness King Ferdinand and the Crown Prince Boris aswell as Prime Minister as Radoslavov to praise the effort of the armed forces in defending their homeland for a second time, among those honoured were Chief of Staff Zhukov aswell as several others in addition to German Generals Von Bothmer and Mackensen.

A moment of silence and a saluting chant was uttered for those who fought in Burgas which is hoped to be re-built within the guidelines of a national program to help the nation in its transition back to peacetime. Among these were support programs for unemployed soldiers aswell as overall increase in social spending as Bulgaria's first Public University is to open.

Mr. Stymbuliski of the Peasent party indicates the gratitude of the workers for these measures but continues to ask the government to put more effort into reforming the state, Prime Minister Radoslavov has indicated that no radical moves are nessecery.

In late 1914, the Parliament of Rumania passes and enacts a law, extending joint citizenship to ethnic Rumanians in Dobruja making them citizens of both Rumania and Bulgaria. This will allow them to cross the border freely and vote via absentee ballots in Rumanian elections.

In addition, a statute is passed that requires all (male) Bulgarian citizens who are not affected by the aforementioned law to salute, doff their hats, or otherwise show proper respect to the Rumanian flag when crossing the border via Dobruja.

King Ferdinand expresses his approval at the Diplomatic Corps efforts in making the Rumanians fold back on previously mentioned law. Although is still a bit discomforted by the vicious slander issued by the Rumanians, especially since part of it is true but is kept quietly in denial of the truth of any of these allegations.

However, The Royal household gets a bit uncomfortable with the Czar's "behaviour" and resolve to make arrangements have him comitted to some sort of retreat back home in Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to resolve his mental aillings -as percieved and expressed by the embarresed Royal Family- caused by the extensive hard work put into running the affairs of state and by the period of cativity in Rumania.

This is of course all done in Secret as only the tops heads of the nobility and government are aware of this, While Prince Boris is being Trained to take over the affairs of state, Czar Ferdinand is slowly prepared to be confronted and forced to abdicate in favour of his son and to seek therapy in Sax-Coburg-Gotha.

Plans go forth and are to be scheduled to come into fruitation in February 26, 1916.

This would include; the Imperium, Montenegro, Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Turkey as voting members and Russia receiving a non-voting seat in recognition of its influence in the Balkans. By joining the League, all nations whether voting or not, would be required to recognize the current borders as legitimate and permanent, pledge to protect all ethnicities within their borders and to sign a non-aggression pact with all other League members. The purpose of this League is to deal with all Balkan-related matters in a peaceful and fair manner so that any violence is snuffed out before allowed to blossom.

Spain wonders if BUlgaria would like to purchase Spanish steel as well as perhaps purchase the new Mark I helmets of the SPanish Army. If Bulgaria also wants, it may purchase the 1915 Marino Rifle being produced in Spain as a rifle of superior quality. (Mostly because Spanish steel production goes into overdrive around this time because of the massive iron mines in the Basque Region._)

OOC: Basically this is Spain's attempt at starting some sort of trade with th Balkans. Bulgaria has actually talked with Spain, while Greece has tried a little and RUmania hasn't bothered with Spain. Spanish markets are trying to expand into other regions, so this is basically allowing me to start appointing some shipping to Bulgaria as such.

For what the Spanish helmet looked like for just imagery sake, her's a link to a picture as such. This is just for fun. The one on the right has a SPanish Helmet. http://www.doew.at/service/archiv/pasaremos.gif

The Spanish offer is intrigueing and is considered carefully, The offer of steel is forwarded to the various industrial leaders to discuss the benefits of the the trade and finally agrees to it, meanwhile a bit more advantegous rates are given for Bulgarian Base mineral exports to Spain such as Lead and Zinc.

OOC: I think we can sum it up that 1 point of Shipping trade now occurs between Spain and Bulgaria and/or that these manuveres are merely for the sake of improving relations.

As for the offer of military equipment, the Bulgarian Military looks forward to equiping one of its currently-under-preperation reserve infantry Corps with the new Spanish Rifles and Helmet for the sake of experimentation, performance reports are promised to the Spanish Government.

OOC: I hope this doesn't mean I have to pay any extra points, does it?

The Macedonian Administration is also refered to the chance to buy Spanish Equipment, although understands if they decide not to purchase and decide to keep to the more traditional German Suppliers.

Spain thanks Bulgaria for agreeing to the trade, stating that it will be glad to give special rates on Lead and Zinc from Bulgaria.

(OOC: Yeah I think 1 shipping point would be fine. That way we have an in game thing and we'll build it say... in 1917 or something.

Spain is also glad that the Bulgarian Army is interested in buying Spanish equipment. Spain believes the Great War showed that while training might have been different, the Spanish arms were just as capable as the German ones. (Mostly because they fought with the same equipment.) And that the Spanish improvements will help. Spanish helmets are also to be sent.

(THis is mostly for relations really. And no you don't have to spend any points for the equipment. Mostly this is SPain's way of getting it's military stuff out there for purchase. In truth my Spain had to do what the real SPain never had to, make it's own arms in large surplus. Spain since it remained neutral in the RL war, always just had Mauser build guns for it. My Spain couldn't do that, so they developed their basic weapons industry up. The Morino is basically a Mauser design with a few additions to make it independent. It's basically a Mauser, no worse, no better. THerefore there no better or worse than German equipment of the Great War. Helmet included.)

-The entire nation is shocked and saddened that Czar Ferdinand has announced on his 55th Birthday that he will be passing over the affairs of state onto his son Boris upon the passing of his 22nd birthday, this has been attributed to the desire of the King to retire from the stress of day to day administration to the comforts of his ancestorial estates in Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Many well wishers have exressed their dissapointment aswell as their gratitude as the coronation is set to take place on March 3 9same date as the treaty of San Stefano which is also the National Day of Bulgaria).

Meanwhile, parlamentary members secretly meet to further their goals in strengthening the parlaments role in Bulgaria now that the Monarchy has been weakened, or so they think...

The Young Prince soon-to-be-King Boris isn't as aloof as some would think, certainly is more far-sighted than was his father, however, and seems to be aware to what is going on around him, however he decides to continue the facade as he contacts his supporters within several circles.

-The Government announces a massive infrastructure program to provide paved roads throughout Bulgaria following the prominance of the horseless wagon within the many circles in society, Macedonia is also expected to be included in the program as part of Bulgaria's commitment to their brothers of the same blood.

March 3, 1916- National Day in Bulgaria

Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catherdral

It was indeed a colourful sight to view, Coronations have always been events that stick in the memory of a person, no less the second coronation in the modern history of the entire nation.

Indeed, all persons from all classes seem to be in attendance, from the noblity and high class of the Imperial Court, to the Important Administrive Parlamentaries of the National Assembly, to the Middle Class City Dwellers, to the Fierce-looking Generals of the military, to the Distinguished Visiting Dignetaries, to the hard-working laborers and peasents.

Most of all, the pious Religous leaders who have turned out to grant their blessings to the newly Crowned Czar of Bulgaria, Czar Boris III of Bulgaria! Great Cheers were heard throughout Sofia, "Long Live the Czar! Long Live Bulgaria! Long Live the Czar!" Church Bells were rung all throughout the Kingdom in celebrations.

Meanwhile, 62 Year old Prime minister Radoslavov shortly afterwards is announced to retire due to "health reasons", he is to be replaced by the prominant Teodor Teodorov.

The Teodorov government, heralded into power by a coalition of Parlementarians, had high hopes for the new system; The King and nobility had retired to their manors and estates (or so it seemed), the people were palacated with the high level of the social system and the strength of the internal industry and stability in the Balkans was better than ever.

However, lately the same political coalition that had brought the new system in was slowly unravelling itself as political tensions across the political spectrum begun to surface. At first it was over minor laws and measures, where eventually would concede to the other. However it began to expand with calls for massive land reform, Military Budget Cuts, the assertion of Civillian control over the military and the national police force from the Agrarian Front Led by a Mr. Stymboliski. This was countered with calls from the other side for stricter controls on labour unions and censorship of the increasingly spreading Socialist literature.

In 1919, the Agrarian Front threatened to withdraw from the coalition and join with opposition parties unless granted more positions on the cabinet, Teodorov was unwilling to risk the upcoming elections and tried to work out a settlement between all sides. This effectively however did in the end allow the Agrarian Front more positions in cabinet.

Many sides stand watching and considering their options, including a certain monarch.

1921-Red Storm Rising

Since the unofficial exile of Czar Ferdinand and the forced retirement of Prime minister Vasil Radoslavov in 1916 by parliamentary elements organized in a grand coalition has the influence of the Agrarian Party been rapidly growing along with its Radical and Communist allies in parliament.

Eventually the Agrarian Party reached a formidable size and became the dominant faction of the coalition, even demanding positions in cabinet from the Prime Minister Teodor Teodorov, which he found hard to refuse. These turns of events lead to a variety of secret meetings between the various opposition factions.

A key player in these events was the Young Monarch, Czar Boris III, who was instrumental in initiating talks, however in order to keep secrecy he was not able to follow up and delegated various tasks to a trusted man in the Military Intelligence, Atanas Vatev. A strong albeit secretive coalition was agreed upon in Saxe-Coburg-Gotha consisting of the Army, the National Police, the Reactionary, the Monarchists, the Macedonian Faction, several Conservatives and a number of paramilitary Right-Wing Group.

This Coalition had one purpose: to stem the threat of Communism, to be prepared to repel it and to restore the Monarchy as the rightful authority of Bulgaria.

Meanwhile, communist power further grew and in 1921, as Socialist protests spread through Europe, Protestors led by an extremist the Bulgarian Agrarian Front surrounded the Parlament, the Palace and the Residence of Prime Minister Teodorov and demanded his resignation and the appointment of their Leader Stembuliski as Prime Minister aswell as the Resignation of Key Officials of the Government and Military and the Abolishment of the Monarchy. Other Factions of the Agrarian Front lead protests in the Streets of Varna, Burgas, Plovidiv, Ruse and various other cities in the Kingdom.

The Nation's Security, having being long preparing for such a scenario quickly moves in troops to secure the Capital, while various Far-Right Groups clash with Protestors in other cities. The King, once the palace is secured, announces his full support to the Right wing Factions that have rallied to support the Monarchy.

With Martial Law Declared by General Nikola Zhekov, the reserve Police Unit Mobilised (to keep peace in Dobrudja) and full support from the King, the upheaval lasts for a number of weeks as police units and eventually the Regulars are called in to control the increasingly violent protests.

Finally with the Agrarian Party defeated and outlawed, along with the exile, arrest and execution of many of its leaders. The ordeal is over and Martial Law begins to be lifted gradually. As Parlament is also restored, it comes as no surprise as the majority is dominated by the Bulgarian Imperial Front with the remainder of the seats going to various but Small Moderate and Independents.

The King declares July 15 as day to commemorate those who have risen to overcome the Communist Threat and awards the leaders of the various Right Wing Paramilitaries several medals to thank them to their contribution.

Following the evening after the assault in St Nedelya, martial law was declared. The Military During the following two weeks engaged in extensive security measures to apprehend those responsible under government supervision and approval.

The assault trial was up before a military court in Sofia between 1 and 11 May. Petar Zadgorski (a sexton at the St Nedelya Church), Lieutenant-Colonel Georgi Koev, who unsuccessfully attempted to hide Ivan Minkov, MO (Military organization of the Bulgarian Communist Party (BCP)) member, and Marko Fridman, an MO section leader, were all sentenced to death. Others implicated were sentanced to capital punishment by default.

Marko Fridman, the highest-ranked individual of those accused, confessed that the organization was financed and supplied with weaponry from the International Comintern, but pinned the responsibility on Kosta Yankov and Ivan Minkov, who, according to him, acted without the BCP management's agreement.

SIC: Given the earlier crackdowns on communists this Crackdown, although almost as severe as RL -to appease the military- Government attempts to imprison/exile as many "Lesser" Commies as it can while handing the bigger fish to the mercy of the military. This is made possible by the fact that earlier crackdowns have limited the number of known communists in Bulgaria.

These include the Nationalization of some of the major industries and services in Bulgaria and compensating with government bonds, However, the agricultural sector shall be left relatively untouched.

Also announced is that to combat the ensuing depression, Bulgarian Industry shall enter into a period of a "National Effort" which would stretch from 3-5 years. This is hoped will induce Industrial Recovery in the nation.
