Viper One, Pschycotian Control. We've got two choppers coming up
to greet you. They'll escort you through to the capitol. Over
Sure enough, within a few moments, two AH-64D Longbows had met up with the Narian chopper, and began escorting her over the Pschycotian countryside toward the capitol. This section of the country was just forests, interspersed with small farm fields and equally small towns. However, the landscape changed shortly. Looming up in front of the group was a massive city.
Viper One, this is Escort One, welcome to Honimishu, capitol of the
Shogunate. Please follow us directly, as you'll encounter many other
helicopters, and we don't we don't want to lose you. Over.
Indeed, there were many other flying machines around. As they flew over the massive city, 300 by 50 miles, with an average building height of 100 stories, the group was buzzed by many V-22 Ospreys, a replacement for the aging subways of other nations. This flight plan was planned to showcase the city, a marvel of technology. All her towers glimmered in the bright afternoon sun, their spires touching the sky, each with her own style. Finally, as they crossed the city, they glimpsed the Inland Sea, a large sea contained in the middle of the country. Now, one could see a large bay jutting into the city. In the middle of this bay was a large island with a magnificent castle on the top of it, built in the pagoda style, sitting atop the island like a crown. The ambassador's helicopter was brought into a landing pad at the seaward base of the island, where there were also multiple docks. Ambassador Hermanus was assisted off of his helicopter by an old man in a military uniform. "I'm Admiral Yamamoto III. Welcome to Pschycotic Pschycos. The shogun is expecting you, please, do follow me." The admiral led the ambassador up several flights of stone steps, carved right into the side of the island, up the rocky face to the gates of the castle's wall. Two guards, garbbed in pure white samurai armour snapped to attention and then opened the door outward, exposing an expanse of shallow water, criss-crossed by covered wooden walkways made of red wood, their roofs of teal green tiles. Blooming lotus flowers drifted across the surface, and one could see a multitude of koi swimming in the shallows. Across the watery courtyard stood the main entrance to Honimishu Castle. Her walls were whitewashed, build on a base of granite. Her sweeping roofs were also of teal green tile, and all the windows were made of rock, carved into little slits, which had once been used for defensive measures. The ambassador was led across the courtyard, and into the castle's main entrance. Inside was a grand hall, with a golden dias, flanked by flags bearing the royal family's mon at the far end. The castle was the main center of government activity, and thus there were many people crisscrossing the hall, some in kimonos and some in military uniforms. The ambassador was brought into a side hall, and to a staircase, which they climbed for several stories until they reached a guarded, iron-reinforced wood door with two whyite guards in front of it. A sign on the door read, in Japanese and english, "No Admittance Without His Excellency's Permission". The admiral breezed through the door with the ambassador in tow, and emerged into a grand office, the size of half the floor they were on (the top floor in the castle). The other half was blocked from view by shoji walls, and were the shogun's personal quarters. Here, the windows were not stone slits, but rather modern glass windows, 6 feet long and spaced 6 feet apart. Straight across from them, and centered against the far wall, was a desk with a rather small man with a wild head of red hair, partially drawn back into a tail sitting behind it. Behind him was a larger, sweeping window, showcasing the city behind the castle. The man behind the desk looked up and noticed the pair. He stood up, exposing the fact that he was wearing a purple and white kimono, and addressed the two. "Thank you, Isoruku, you may go." After the admiral had departed back into the stair well, and shut the door behind him, the man came out from around the desk and led the ambassador to a plush leather chair in front of his desk. "Ah, Ambassador Hermanus! Welcome, welcome! I am Shogun Nakamura Himura Kenshin. But that is such a mouthful! Please, we are equals here, and this desk is just a meeting point, so feel free to just call me Kenshin. I do hope you've had a pleasant trip! Ah, but before we begin business, would you care for a drink? We have most anything you might like."

The Ambassador was a little overwhelmed after the long journey. Where he had come from things were so simple, but here. "Wow." He thought to himself throughout the ride.
He looked over his agenda one more time before getting off the chopper, walked to the top, and replied, "It is a pleasure to meet you, Kenshin. You can just call me Damon. I'll take a water if you've got it please."

"Damon, that is a strong name. I'll have a water brought up immediately." He pressed a button on his speaker phone, and placed in Damon's order. In minutes, a waiter had brought it in, with a few lemon slices in case the ambassador'd want one, and handed it to him, departing equally as swiftly. "Now then," Kenshin said. "I've heard that Great Nari has just recently moved out of isloationism. Could you tell me of the state of things inside your nation right now. Tell me a little about your culture, and your technology. And also maybe what it is your hoping to obtain by coming out."

"Alright. The state of the nation is good. The people have largely accepted the transition, but we are having issues with a Islamic group calling themselves the Light of the People. They are armed, but we will have them contained within the week. Otherwise, schools opened and businesses did what they do, and it was a real clean transition.
Culture wise varies between the five regions. We are a strong freedom of religion type of group. We are real simple people, don't like big flashy items and are always willing to learn. The Sundew often prevented us from doing that.
As for technology we are in grave need. We have all the basics of living standards, as well as television and internet. We have a strong division of advances such as that. Militarily is where we struggle, no Air Force and no Navy is really hurting us in that department. President Wallace was hoping perhaps for some donations of that sort as well as to sign on for contracts to have you develop planes and ships for us. We were also hoping you would train some of our men to use them.
Would any of that interest you? We could pay you of course, or open ourselves up to trade."

"Well, it does seem as though your nation is in fine shape for the time being. Though the lack of a navy and airforce is indeed worriesome, as shown by recent, subtle threats on your nation for this transition from more democratic nations. On this note, we can indeed help you. One of our generations of ships has become too old for our use. Now, too old to us means it's just not as shiny anymore, yet is still very valuable. Due to our production rates, we tend to get rid of the older ships to prevent a maintnance nightmare. Now, these ships are only smaller battlecruisers. However, they form an essential part of our fleets, creating fast-attack squadrons, excellent anti-missile and anti-aircraft defenses, excellent anti-submarine capabilities, as well as solid offensive abilities, coming from four double-mount 25" turrets, as well as other long-range abilities. They also feature easy to use, centralized systems. You're welcome to have this generation of ships and save them from probably just being scuttled.
"As for an airforce, the only thing we can offer is a fleet of old F-14 Tomcats and Phoenix ATA missiles for them. We haven't used these fighters since we replaced them many years ago. You're welcome to have them. We'll also be glad to design any ships for you, though not airplanes, we have a lack of expertise with them.
"Now, for these, the only thing we'd want in return is tariff-free access to your ports for trade. Few nations these days are still self-sustained, and we're lucky to be one of them. However, we do enjoy a brisk trade with others, so we continue to do so. Hopefully, through trade, it'd be possible for some of our technology to enter into your nation and help the populace benifit even more." Kenshin cleared his throat and, reaching underneath his desk, produced a small bowl and a sake bottle. He poured himself a bowl-full and took a drink of it. Recapping the bottle, he placed it and the bowl away again.
"Now, all countrys can only go so far on their own, or even with a few allies. My country itself, though large and powerful, belongs to an even larger alliance within our region. We belong to the Greater Prussian Empire, which is centered around the Greater Prussian region, of which we're in. This Empire provides economic and military support to all of its members, regardless of size. Now, I'm not authorized to do anything, but having high position there myself, I've overheard rumors that the leadership has great intrest in your nation. Indeed, I do believe that another one of your nation's diplomats is may be meeting with the emperor in the nation of Derscon. If you have anytime to confer with your higher-ups or the other diplomat, you should relay that information to them."
Kenshin chuckled. "Well, that's a little business for now. Come, tell me about you, your family! And, ah! Perhaps you'd like something to eat as well while we're here?"

"I have already been authorized to suggest a tarriff free relationship between our two nations, so you already have that going for you. The Great Nari government would be more than grateful to take anything you are willing to give to us. It will be better than anything we already have. You will also be willing to help learn to run them correct?
As for the alliance I would have to converse with the President as to that. However I can take back any information you may have on the alliance, so I can present a fine case.
I am sorry, but I do have a family. I am married to the military you see. I've had a couple of close calls here and there though, but I am happy with..."
Damon's cell started ringing. "Sorry. This will only take a second....aha...okay. Good bye. The President wants me to discuss the issue with Kamasha. They seem have to become more and more agressive with our revolution, and we fear it may come to war. What do you think?"
Pschycotic Pschycos

"Ah, that is grand then. As for learning how to run them, each ship will be delivered by a skeleton crew who will teach your sailors, as will the planes.
"As for the Greater Prussian Empire, it is a joint defense and trade union that prides itself on high standards of military and religousness. While the main Greater Prussia region area is usually reserved for those with protestant christian majority, we've opened a second region for those of other faiths."
Kenshin smiled and nodded as he listened to Damon about his family, or lack thereof. "That is not an uncommon thing here too. Many young men are willing to sacrafice themselves for the country instead of a spouse or special other. I myself nearly was in an extended relationship, but my wife died in childbirth. Now my only family is my country and my son."
"Now, as for Kamasha," he said, gravely, "we are willing to fight them off for your chance to grow higher. However, I'll advise you to keep the fighting as much away from your populace as possible to keep moral up and keep them backing you. As for these revolutionaries. Take out the head first. That should cause the rest of the organization to collapse. Then eliminate their weapons. This should cause a swift victory, without leaving you overly exposed to bad feelings among your citizens."

"We are already focusing on locating the head of the LoP. They should not cause us much trouble because they are poorly equipped and poorly organized. I once again thank you for your support against the nation of Kamasha. They, I believe, have other intention besides placing democracy back in our nation.
Now you had mentioned some food, and not to lie, I am starving."
Pschycotic Pschycos
09-09-2006, 23:53
"Haha, of course! Please, what is it that you would like? We have a wide range of food selections, and an excellent chef! Would you like somethin from our culture's selection, or from a broader one?"
Great Nari

"Surprise me! I would love to taste some new type of food!"
Pschycotic Pschycos
10-09-2006, 00:28
"Certainly! A popular native dish here is rice, wrapped with dried and salted seaweed. Now, though it sounds positively gross to outsiders a lot, it is, in fact, quite good. For mothers with school children, it is the equivilent of a PB&J. And, of course, there's a wide assortment of sushi, which is raw or lightly cooked fish, squid, or octopus, wrapped in seaweed. Some can be quite spicy. I will have a platter brought up." He sent the order through his desk phone, and in a short time, the same waiter brought in a huge platter of sushi, with mountains of the rice-balls in the middle. He bore two sets of chopsticks, and one fork in case the ambassador didn't quite know how to use chopsticks.
"So then, now that the topic of food has come up, tell me a little about Great Nari's culture. A country in isolationism that long must have had time to develop it's own identity, as we did when we were the people known as the Japanese. You called your late leaders the "sundew", that is quite a name, and hints at a rich culture!"
Great Nari
10-09-2006, 00:37
"Actually, we really don't know why we called them the Sundew. The first leadership just picked the name and population was like, okay. Our island was founded by people from numerous nations, of many backgrounds, and of many religions. Someone most likely suggested it and it sounded good.
We were all tired of the governments we lived in and formed a uptopia-like nation. The culture really varies between regions, but you can see heavy African cultures throughout the entire nation. The best part is that we have all got along real well, until this recent LoP issue.
Our foods are equally as unique. Our primary food source, being an island, is fish and we love it. You can go almost anywhere and find some sort of fish in any dish.
To pass the time we love to play American Football, but we never managed to get a pro league going.
All in all its a terrific nation and we hope to be to host you someday."

"Ah, I see. That is quite a rich, diverse culture I see! We, unfortunately, lack that sort of direct diversity. However, because our nation spans so many climate zones, you can see wild differences in the sub-cultures. In the tropics regions, many houses are built over the shallow waters on stilts, and fishing becomes the most important thing. In the eastern part of the mainland, farming and forestry are big because of the interspersed farms and woods that I'm sure you saw on the way in.
"The northern section is mostly wide-open plains with farms all over. The south is mild at the Inland Sea's shores, but turns increasingly into desert as it reaches our southern border, until it becomes unpassable to anyone. Houses down there are made out of earth rather than paper and wood. Then, just west of the Inland Sea, the land turns into the Shinotara Mountains, which rival any mountains for height. They're snowy most of the year, and support huge tourism budgets. Two cities even feature ski hills running straight through the them, that's the main cultural focus out there. And on the other side of the mountains is just forest forever until the border. It supports much hunting, and tourism in some of the mountian lakes.
"Generally, we follow out Japanese heritage, though fads such as skateboarding, metal and punk rock music, and American Football can be seen everywhere. Perhaps before you leave, you will take a visit to downtown Honimishu. You can meet many people there, and see how businessmen conduct business here and how average people here go shopping. You'll find the kimono and samurai swords still in very much use here.
"However, your diverse culture aspect has me very interested. I will make note to visit once things have calmed down, and to open tourism to your nation. We usually keep tourism limited to our allied nations to better protect our borders, so Pschycotians usually miss out on many culture trips. However, a place where you can find many at once will draw many people." Kenshin washed his throat with another drink of sake and some sushi rolls.

"I would love to do just that someday, but I think it is time that I head back to Great Nari. There is much for me to do there."
Pschycotic Pschycos
10-09-2006, 03:52
"Of course, of course. Well, I will have 200 ships, and 500 F-14 fighter/bombers sent out right away. I'll also notify Coast Guard and our Merchant Marine that your ships are most welcome here, and that they can begin trade at your ports immediately. I look forward to dealing with you and your country, Mr. Ambassador. Do have a safe trip home!" With that, Kenshin led him to the door, and the ambassador's return trip began.
Which is pretty much the same as the original, but for the sun that was now setting over the pristine Inland Sea, casting red, yellow, and orange hues over the sparkling waters and the lotus filled courtyard below the castle.
