After much deliberation and after heavy pressure from the public opinion, His Majesty's Cabinet decided to begin talks with the Dominions of Rumelija about Home Rule. The two territories making up Rumelija, the Eastern and Western dominons, however are totally different in culture, the western part being predominantly Orthodox and the Eastern part being dominated by the traditional clan society of the region. Recently, the Goidhelic-Rumelijan Colonial Army(GRCA) intervend near the capital Plovdiv when protests against Goidhelic and Western Rumelijan presence in the country. Rumelija has been part of the Kingdom of Goidhelica for a long time: it was conquered in the 17th century and has remained part of the Goidhelica Colonial Administrative Authority (GCAA) ever since. Western Rumelija was influenced heavily by the Goidhelic administration, and although keeping its own language, is culturally close to Goidhelica, in having representatives in Parliament, an advanced civic society and a majority secular population. The Eastern parts of the country were only pacified in the the early twentieth century and retain the specifically tribal society much like during the pre-conquest era. Recently, the Nationalist Party for Rumelija has gathered enough strength to call for secession from the Kingdom for the Eastern parts of the country, although no such power base exists in the West.In the West, the National Democratic Party has swept the vote, also seeking the end of GCAA rule from the Foreign Office in Dun Eidean but seeks to achieve independece for the western parts only. Fears are that if independence is achieved by Rumelija, it will split into two countries and descend into chaos, because many Westeners live in the East as administrators of the GCAA, and are regarded as traitors by their neighbours. The government of Goidhelica therefore seeks the mediation of Foreign Powers in this matter, in order to peacefully close the chapter of Colonial Rule in Rumelija

The Lietenant-Govenor of Western Rumelija has today held talks with leading figures in Western Rumelijan society about independece for the country. Community leaders stressed that if Rumelija would achieve independence, the Western part would immediately seceed from the fledgeling state and proclaim a monarchy rather than a republic and join the Goidhelic Commonwealth as a realm. If need be, an independent national defense force will be formed to assure territorial integrity of the realm. Leader of the mainstream independece party Union for the West has called for secession in case of independence for the colony.
This is a worrying sign of things to come as it was made clear by the Lieutentant-Govenor that it was the intention of the Goidhelic government to grant independece only to a United Republic of Rumelija.

In the Town Hall of the Capital of Eastern Rumelija, the leader of the recently renamed Republican Party for National Union and Liberation, Grigorie Stoyanov, has proclaimed the Most Serene Republic of the United Lands of Eastern and Western Rumelija. In a telivised speech, Stoyanov officially took office as Chairmen of the Executive Council and the National Defense Council, declaring war on "the fascist, feudal and imperialist swines of Goidhelica and all traitor to the Republic". Stoyanov commented that independece would not be accepted as a gift form their erstwhile oppresors, but would be taken by the Rumelijan people themselves. The people demand a republic, Stoyanov exclaimed, and this they will get: from Plovdiv to Sofija our regiments will fight the Goidhelic oppressors! After a quick struggle the Goidhelic forces in the town surrendered and the Goidhelic flag was lowered over the new Legislative Council Building as the town hall was now known.

Having received the dreadfull news of the east, the Lieutenant-Govenor of Western Rumelija, Danilo Dimitriev, says, trembling while making the announcement, I declare herby that the proclamation of the republic in the east is null and void. Being of Western Rumelijan stock myself, I can assure my fellow citizens of the Realm that I will personally ask His Majesty's Cabinet and his Lordship the Govenor-General to provide for the security. If this will not be forthcoming, I will personally see to the deployment of armed police to secure the borders of the Realm and I will declare the state of Secession, meaning that a parliament will be formed and a First Minister will be elected, approved by Royal Assent of the Lieutenant-Govenor. Long live the Crown!
Near Sveta Nedelja Square, people from all walks of life demonstrated for the keeping of the monarchy and waved around Western Rumelijan flags and Goidhelic flags singing the Goidhelic anthem and shouting: God Save the King, God Save the Government, God Save Western Rumelija!

Dun Edean,
In the Houses of Parliament, a debate has just ended over the crisis in Rumelija. The majority of parliament has approved of an opposition motion to immediately quit the former colony of Rumelija. Order has been given to the GRCA-forces to immediately stop fighting the Rumelian Republican forces. Lieutenant-Govenor Dimitriev is hereby sacked and stripped of his citizenship of the Kingdom. He represents in no way the people of Rumelija. It is the position of the King and parliament of Goidhelica that the country is better left united in the hands of President Stoyanov. Tomorrow at midnight there will be an official handover ceremony in Port Harvard (Western Rumelija, the place where the first Goidhelic forces defeated the native forces of Bâris I and is known to the local population as Varna) in which Governor General Jameson will formally renounce the claim of the Crown and parliament on the entire country. Aftert his the national flag will go down and from that moment, whatever happens in Rumelija is no longer the concern of His Majesty's Government. All Colonial Administrators that are of Goidhelic origins are ordered to come home in the last ship leaving foor Glaschu Harbour, the day after Independence. All service men and women that are of Goidhelic origin are also ordered to take the same ship. Rumelijans wishing to remain subjects of His Majesty the King and citizens of the Kingdom, are kindly requested to report to the nearest consulate or embassy. No one shall be turned away. This, ladies and Gentlemen, concludes our colonial history.
Immediately after the proclamation, the governement resigned over the issue and the King has appointed opposition leader and Govenor General Jameson as First Minister of the Kingdom, replacing dr McReady. In the streets of Dun Edean, unrest was sparked by Western Rumelian immigrants, who shouted: Long live the Colonies. Independence for the West. Armed police was moved in to apprehend the troublemakers. 2 people were shot by Armed Police units after throwing Rocks at the Colonial Authorities Building and setting it on fire.

Lieutenant Govenor Dimitriev was anxious. Today was the day. He was left with no other option. He then ordered to commence the telivized speech.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, fellow loyal subjects of His Majesty the King of Western Rumelija,

With great sadness we learned that the government of Goidhelica will no longer protect our nation and has ordered the retreat of all GRCA-forces. This measure leaves our borders open for attack and occupation. This will forfeit the claim of the Kingdom of this lands. In taking initiative, and not waiting for chains and slavery to arrive, I have decided to give Royal Assent to the Act of Secession. This means that from this moment, Western Rumelija is an independent state, responsible for its own foreign policy and its own security. The country shall be a monarchy, but for the moment we leave the throne vacant. At a proper date a King will be selected by the Legislative Council for Western Rumelija. This Council will hereby be known as Parliament and will be the supreme institution in the country. I have been ordered by parliament to name mr D. Radisaev as chairman of the Royal State Council, and he shall be adressed as First Minister. By act of Parliament I have been given the title Govenor General and I will represent the Monarch in the time when no King is present in the country. As your acting head of state, I ordered all state milita to secure the borders with the East. I allso proclaim marshall law and I call for the arrest of all Eastern or Republican personel claiming to govern. We declare war on the republic of the east and we shall be victorious. The first mission of the State Militia is to seize all Goidhelic Ships sailing for Goidhelica and capture all materials and weapons on those ships. I have ordered the airforces to execute a bombardment of Plovdiv, in order to send a clear message to the east that we will not be governed by Barbarians. Long live the Commonwealth of Western Rumelija! Long Live Secession and long live the Royal State Council!"
Immediately after the broadcast pictures were shown of the Residence of the Govenor, where the Goidhelic flag was replaced by the Commonwealth flag.
Citizens were overjoyed wwith there new found independence.. for as long as it could last..
