OOC: Comrades in Arms (MT RP Idea)

I am looking for TWO Rpers to participate in a small civil war I intend to wage in my country. Straight from the start, I wish to point out that I intend to have the Rebel forces lose, as this RP will also be a means of developing some backstory for my country's leaders.

The plan for the RP is thus; a group of Trotskyist rebels flee to the mountain ranges north of the Rooshdan Peninsula in order to avoid the purges of my government and begin to wage a Guerilla war against government forces. The National Communist forces will go after them to destroy the dissidents before they can cause any major damage. Not only will this be a small-scale conflict between two ideologies of the left (Trotskyism and what is essentially Stalinism), but will also be a personal battle between President Sharpe and the leader of the Rebels, which will be a character from his past. Through the course of the RP, I will be showing their growing relationship and its eventual decline in flashbacks, setting more of the history of my country's main character.

My intention is to write a dramatic final confrontation between the two individuals once the Rebels are on the brink of defeat.

I would therefore like two RPers to join the RP with me - one to support the Rebels in a covert 'Black Ops' method that eventually fails (whether through being wiped out or because the Rebels surrender) and one RPer to come in on the side of myself with a small degree of support, just to make things a little more interesting.

My intention therefore is to have a small-scale conflict which centres more around characters rather than engagements. However, there will be a few small-scale conflicts between the Rebels and the forces that will destroy them in the mountains. I therefore invite other nations to use this RP as a means to also develop their own characters. I also must be slightly snobby and kindly ask for literately competant RPers to maintain a good standard of writing.

A map of the Rooshdan Peninsula can be found in my signature line. The mountains range in question are those to the north of my country, around the area of the city of Northpoint. These mountains are largely untraversable apart from several winding, narrow roadways through the mountains that have been around for nearly a hundred years, so large-scale troop movements would be suicidal via roadroutes due to ambushes. As a result, the rebels holding this area is strategically economically disastrous for a country with very little air movement capacity at this time.

Those interested please respond below, and give some information on your nation and which side you wish to join.

OOC: I might be interested in joining on the side of the rebels, as The Supreme Soviet Imperium already has suspicions about your new government (RE: Your thread about your country's revolution). The problem is that you would be creating an enemy in The Supreme Soviet Imperium and Supreme Soviet Premier Comrade Vladimir Kuschev would not be likely to take a strategic defeat in trying to take down your government (defeat of the rebels) lying down, and would seek revenge and the fall of your government.

I'll think about it.

OOC: Thankyou for you interest, and I hope you give it a lot of thought. I realise what you mean about not taking a strategic defeat, but we could get around that in the fact that it would be all covert support, i.e. your government could deny all knowledge of it. It is obvious that the Rebels will likely lose from the outset, so you *could* use it as merely a method of getting Soviet Imperium covert ops troops used to any potential future operations in Rooshda. I intend to break-out into my neighbour (NPC nation called Coska) at some point, so maybe we could have a proper war then.

Hope to hear from you.

OOC: You are right that my government and indeed your government could deny knowledge, knowing that anti-communist nations finding out about The Supreme Soviet Imperium backing the rebels against your government could be seized upon as propaganda that Communists are tearing each other part and are divided and are weak ect etc.

I will use Spec Ops, probably less than a 1,000 in a parachute jump insertion, I'm not sure if I'll use air transportable light armour....I might use air support for spec ops designated targets? Your forces would probably find out my spec ops are there anyway.

At the end, maybe surviving Spec Ops will get out, some may be captured, probably dead, some alive.....then to expand it, I might launch a rescue mission lol....it would create a history between us leading up to a possible war as you said.

So both sides could deny I'm involved to deny what looks like a inter-communist war.

Thinking out loud really.

All right, count me in supporting the rebels with spec ops. Just need a location to insert them now...

OOC: Thanks for the interest! I hope that this will develop into an interesting history between the two of us, leading to a possible war, as you said.

Once I get some interest from a side willing to help me, I will post a detailed description of the area under contention here, with reference to the map I made of my little corner of the NS World. I will then post the thread itself and take it from there. We'll continue to use this OOC thread during the RP in order to iron out issues that arise.

Thankyou for coming up with an interesting idea for an RP an an interesting scenario for my nation which is politically sensitive!

Excellent. I'm signing off now, so I'll check in tommorow.

OOC: I could get involved on the side of the government. You could either hire out some of my Defence Company's mercenaries especially aircraft since you said you were lacking in that area. I could also just have my government send in forces to help you out, if you don't wish to pay for mercenaries.

Thankyou for you interest. However, considering your country is a Capitalist nation, my own state is unlikely to request help from your nation, although I do not doubt the quality of your mercenary and government forces.

Largely, this seems to be an ideological battle *within* the left - Trotskyists (with the Soviet Imperium as backup) and National Communists (with someone of appropriately similar background as support) would be the ideal position.

OOC: Okay, seeing as there doesn't seem to be much more interest, I figure I'll close this to just between me and TPSU. I'll post the thread and the OOC information later tonight, but then I may go quiet over the weekend as I'm moving into new accomodation for University and am therefore not entirely sure regarding internet access just yet.

Information

The area under contention between government and rebel forces stretches between the two mountain peaks known as Mount Hope (left) and Mount Green (right). Both mountains comprise mostly of steep rocky inclines as the mountains move to their peak of 8,000 feet. The only reliable methods of reaching the tops of the mountains are the roadways and rail networks. Green shapes denote the approximate location of woodland outcroppings, where the steep inclines become more shallow due to the tree's location.

Points A, B and C denote the location of rebel groupings. Point A is the rebel command post, situated in a disused mine near the peak of Mount Hope. This is where the rebel leader is located, and will be the last place to fall. Point B denotes another set of disused buildings from the mining network, being a set of storage warehouses for material storage nearby the railroad. Point C shows another disused mine shaft set inside the forestry of Mount Green. Rebel fighters number 300 in total, being Trotskyite dissidents that attempted to flee the country following the revolution. They are spread approximately equally between all three points.

Northpoint is the largest town in northern Rooshda, being the main route through which materials move in and out of the country along the North Highway and the North Railroad. The garrison there is attached to the Rooshdan Revolutionary Militia Northern Defence Command (RevNorth), commandered by Brigadier-General Marcus Llewelyn, who will make an appearence in future posts, and consists of a Division (10,000) of Infantry, 50 T-62 Battle Tanks, 60 BMP-1 AFVs, and 50 D-30A Towed Howitzers with attached tractors. The Army Air Corps also maintains a helicopter fleet of 10 Mi-2 Hoplites, 5 Mi-8 Hips and 5 Mi-24 Hind Ds, and operates two squadrons (24) comprising Mi-17 Fighter/Bombers and Mig-21 Fighters from Northtown Army Airfield.

Any other information required will be provided on request.

OOC: I'm going to be a bit busy over the weekend myself, so the earliest I'll be able to respond in depth and detail this RP deserves is on Monday, but I promise I will respond.

I read the IC RP thread, I'm liking it, well done.
