The 5th and 9th Reichsmarine Fleets had been mobilized in preparation for the invasion of New Zealand. Accordingly to the Reichskanzler, the purpose of the attack was "...to ensure safety and stability in the South Pacific, following the collapse of the Government of Nepal."
Over 60 warships, 20 Attack Submarines, and 10 Nuclear Submarines accompanied by 15 Elefant Transport Ships stormed towards the large island to the East of Australia. Each of the Elefant Transport Ships contained 850 Spanish Marines, 200 Waffen-OS Soldiers, 15 StuG-I's, 10 Panzer-X's, and 20 Marder-IV IFVs. On every Bomber Carrier [a grand total of 10] there were three Do-210 Transport Ships, each capable of carrying 200 Fallschirmjäger [paratrooper] Soldiers or 10 Marder-IV IFVs, usually 150 Fallschirmjäger Troops and 4 Marder-IV's.
16 hours into Operation: Nebel, the two fleets were off the Western Coast of South Africa and moving at a steady 10 knots towards New Zealand. The warships and soldiers of this operation were under the command of Kapitän zur See Sepp Kutz -- second-in-command of the Reichsmarine. The two fleets and its soldiers were sub-commanded by Generaloberst Rudolf Löber, Generalleutnant Wolfgang Greiger, and OS-Brigadeführer Sven Aaldulf.
The assault would begin with massive bombardment from the Luftwaffe and the arsenal ships, battleships, battlecruisers, and missile ships of the Reichsmarine. Their primary targets were inland defense positions, shore defenses, airfields, barracks, weapons production factories, warships, naval bases, ammunition depots, military bases, police departments, bunkers, and in general any installation which could provide trouble for ground troops.
The generals had agreed that the best tactic for this invasion was to throw everything they could at the enemy in an attempt to confusion, disorient, and demoralize them. Fourth Reich High Command had hoped that the heavier the attack, the more hopeless the enemy would become. Since the collapse of the government, there was less than 1/3 of the previous leadership in Nepal New Zealand and the Fourth Reich Military would milk this for all it was worth...
