The Answer to War; A New Breed of War Game

Deserted Territories
05-09-2006, 21:23
In the interest of preserving our world, Deserted Territories Land Reclamation Services (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=496093) is hosting, in partnership with the DT government, a series of international “land grab war games.” In this new style of war game, nations will compete to be the first to the plateau at the center of the playing field. The winner will collect the $1 Billion prize and the playing field, which is always rich with precious minerals and oil. All damage to the playing field will be repaired by DTR free of charge.

Any nation can join, with a limit of 10 nations per game. Each nation may deploy a maximum of 500 soldiers, and they’ll need every one of them. Entry fee is $100 Million.

This new breed of war game will use live rounds. The starting places of each team will be assigned by the order in which they enter (ex: 1st nation to sign-up gets starting plot #1). Starting plot number 1 will not necessarily be the best starting plot. All routes to the plateau will be different, and you may switch routes, just be careful of competitors; competition between teams is allowed and encouraged.

Since this is not your run-of-the-mill hike to the plateau, an equal number of tactical assaults will be launched against each team. These will include artillery strikes, missile strikes, helicopter attacks, mines, automated mg nests and towers, and ambushes by DT strike teams clad in green.

DT game officials (clad in orange) will patrol the field and shadow teams to enforce these rules:
- No member of your team may leave the field until the game ends.
- Once the game ends, no more attacks will be made.
- No vehicles of any kind are allowed.
- No reinforcements or tactical support.
- No unprovoked attacks on DT game officials save when you are ambushed.
Being caught breaking the rules will result in immediate forfeit and possible banning from future competitions.

*Note: DT game officials are armed and will defend themselves.

Summary:
- Entry fee: $100 Million
- First to plateau wins
- Winners purse: $1 Billion and playing field
- 10 nations per game
- 500 max. soldiers per team
- Breaking the rules results in immediate forfeit

To win, teams must be the first to arrive at the top of the central plateau and set off the flare to signal the end of the game. DT officials on the plateau will record the winners.

Announcements for competitions will be posted here.

On behalf of the Royal High Command), I express interest in the wargames, and if some questions are answered, will deploy the 2nd battalion of the 315th (Rifles)Light Infantry Regiment. The one question that concerns my government is what the use of live rounds entails? Will there be actual casualties?

Live rounds = talking bullets....lol

Rounds that kill

Yes, rounds that kill. Casuilties are expected, but, if you want, you can instruct your men to aim to wound.

Raven corps: In the intrest of filling slots, i'll give you those three starting plots. Normaly you would get only one and it would be randomly selected.

31337 soup: You launch at point 4.

Rodenka: I answered above, if you decide too play you will be plot 5.

To: Administrator, DTLRS War Games
From: Defence Minister Klaus Kleiner

To whomsoever it may concern.

This message should be seen as official declaration of intent to enter a Lassitern combat unit into these wargames. This is done in the full knowledge that live ammunition is to be used, and that these men may well die for their country. As permitted, we will deploy five hundred infantrymen, plus appropriate support. We believe we are the third confirmed entrant, so will deploy as soon as possible to starting point three.

Klaus Kleiner

OOC:

Here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=11642781#post11642781), there's some blurb about the playing area, and a linky to a map (http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m190/Radio_10/dtrgame.jpg).

The Republic of Groznyj is interested in the prospect of new resource rich lands. 500 Marine Rangers will be transported to the site along with necesary supplies, and initial logistics (I take it you are not accomodating the men when they wait to go into the fray).

Price of entry has been wired with this messege.

However there is one question I have for you, are we allowed to purposefully attack enemies just to get them out of the game? Not saying I will, I just want a clearer picture on the rules.

Btw, since your men are in orange and are generally against our fighters, if my soldiers spot them are they allowed to open fire? You know, like to counter a possible future ambush.

You can purposly attack enemys to slow them down or get them out of the way, but they may do the same to you.
When ambushes happen, the soldiers will be wearing green, not orange, so don't shoot at orange. But if a jumpy soldier does shoot an official, and it's judged as an accident, no reprocusions will happen.

Lassitern, you're not third, you're 6th.
everyone else, I'm putting up entrents on the second post of this thread.

We will start soon, probably tommorw.

In the case of live ammunition, His Majesty has no desire to risk His soldier's lives for a mere game. Should you activate more conventional wargames, we will be glad to take part.
